AMEN!!! I got into dental hygiene on my first try. Did well in classroom but struggled in clinic. I ended up failing the first semester of my second year. I went straight into dental assisting program, became president of my class, graduated, got a great job, reached out to my hygiene program and have now been readmitted!!! I start back in two weeks!! Never give up on your dreams!! ✨❤️

This is why I am so nerves about applying for the program. I am trying not to limit my options and apply to different schools. A lot of programs only accept 20 people a year once a year which already makes the chances of getting in low. I am working super hard to pass all my classes with A's and hopefully get into one of the 5 programs I am applying for.
I applied to dental hygiene school five years in a row and made the wait list once. I felt like I was never good enough although I had good grades (they low key wanted you to have a 4.0 or a masters degree apparently) and a packed resume with lots of dental experience and community service. It shattered my heart that I never got in. I gave up on that dream I had always had because I didn’t see them letting me in after the 6th, 7th, or 8th time either… I am now an ICU nurse. Too dumb to be a hygienist I guess but not too dumb to save your life 🤷🏻♀️
What a beautiful message. My application was just denied. I did feel heartbroken because I worked really hard and got straight A's and it wasn't enough, but there is always next year, or a lifetime to follow your dreams.

@@Fiestaonpetalsandballoons I believe they look at the person as a whole,Not just the grades,I know some school like if people that volunteer in their community,or play sports ,they want to see time management or that have a job, Previous dental experience,Great recommendation letters ,And the interview it’s really important.So Many things that go into their decision making .
I just got the acceptance on Tuesday. I was not accepted for Sep 2020, but accepted for May 2021. Don't give up, I am taking this break to work hard and get more money into my savings for school
I applied for the dental hygiene program at my uni for the second time this year (i didn’t get in first try because of my GPA was too low) and I’ve been really anxious and doubtful about my chance of getting in because I didn’t get the grade I wanted in one class that would help me raise my GPA. I’ve also been scared of getting rejected for the second time and I’m scared i’ll never get in. I applied to the dental hygiene program last year and sadly didn't get accepted but then I found this video and pursued my dream so I found my weakness and I went up 4 points on my ACT and today I submitted my packet for Dental Hygiene Admissions of 2022! My fingers are crossed and many prayers would be appreciated, I believe it is my time. Couldn't have made this progress without you!

I know I need to trust God’s plan and His timing, it’s just so hard. My heart just aches right now. I know this feeling will go, but in this moment, it seems impossible. But I know with God, all things are possible

I got the same question from one of a DH directors: “do you wanna be a nurse instead”? Omg, I got rejected sooo many times....doesn’t matter if you took extra prerequisites or not...Just never give up!!! And yes, I called the front desk lady, too. I asked her several times about my application status, so she left a sticky notes on my profile!!! Things happen for a reason!!! 💗

@Karla Toledo Hey Karla! Two months later and I'm rewatching this gem again 😜 I had an exam today for a pre-req and it was super demoralizing. Each question was 7+ lines long (which is fine)... but the prof only gives us 30 seconds to answer before moving to the next... he doesn't let you ask questions... nor go back to review... I broke down and cried my eyes out right after because I felt so disappointed in myself. I studied so hard and I know I know my stuff, but to churn out answers in 30 seconds is extremely challenging. Hearing your words of encouragement is exactly what I needed. Like you said, tonight I'll cry, feel sad, do some sobbing but tomorrow, I'll get up and try even harder. Your words are so empowering. Think twice before going to hygiene school. I've been doing it for 2 years and it's awful. It's all about selling products to your patients and getting the most money out of them. Patient care is not #1 anymore, it's about money. You will have 30 to 40 minutes per patient and will see from 10 to 15 a day. Private dentist are getting bought out by big cooperations and changing everything.

I started junior college to get all my pre-reqs. For the dental hyg. Program and stopped when it got to science because I got a job working for my Dentist as an assistant than moved up as registered dental assistant, have met and formed many relationships with Doctors and co-workers, and am now 4 years later finishing the last of my pre-reqs Chem, Physio, Anatomy, & Micro. To be able to apply to the program. While working part time in the field already at a comfortable pay and my current job/clinic is encouraging me and supporting my transition to part time to fulfill my dream, is a blessing in disguise. Sometimes things need to go left for them to go right again. ❤️❤️❤️ Loved this!

I just found your UA-cam channel and omg you’re making me feel so much better😭😭 I’m currently 21 years old about to turn 22 I have changed my major like 3 times 😭😭 I’m currently taking my prerequisites to become a pediatric dental hygienist but lately I have been feeling very overwhelmed and discouraged since the DH is very competitive. I’m now stuck between being a pediatric dental hygienist or a pediatric dental assistant 😭😭😭
If your able to ,stick with dental hygiene,it’s not always about the money but as a hygienist you definitely earn more money and school is only 2 years after prerequisites,You also have more freedom,work more independently vrs as an assistant your working alongside with the dentist.You are so young,it’s normal to change your careers path,We all have gone through that!You are so close don’t give up now and yes Dh is competitive but if I did it so can you!trust the process!
I woke up at 3 am today realizing that I won't be able to start Hygiene in the fall as I planned. Understand that there’s millions of people out there. Everyone wants a piece of the pie. The way the system works is so that a few people succeed and the others fail. It’s just business. It has nothing to do with merit or hard work. Don’t listen to all that toxic positivity bs. Don’t be a slave to extreme goals. Set goals that are realistic. You can achieve them all the time. Too many shattered dreams, student debt, high expectations, lust for money/material possessions, too many stressful tests, too much money invested with no outcome. Lots of energy, little relaxation, too little laughter , a lot of reading and typing, too much worry for the future, less contentment in the present.It’s like trying to find Eldorado. Be happy with what u have. Live in the moment. Don’t confine into the social construct of “success”. What society deems “ successful”. You make your own definition of success.
I made this video to inspire people to not give up and follow their dream or to think if dental hygiene is what they are meant to do.I don’t think just going to college will make someone successful,there are people out there that went to trade school Or have no degree at all and make more money than dental hygienist.It is not always about the money though,and yes in life we have to make sacrifices to study,get into debt,lots of energy invested but I could’ve thought like that and given up the first time they said no to my application.I applied the second year and have been a hygienist since 2016.We should never lose hope and do whatever makes YOU happy wether is school or not .❤️

I was in school for Dental Hygiene and did not like it. I think it was a sign that it was not for me and I just was being stubborn because I told everyone that's what I was going to do. I am happier now with my business degree.

My story is a little different. My GPA is 3.7 and I had everything that I needed!!! They called me and I didn’t pick up and they told me unfortunately since I didn’t pick up the phone. My application is thrown away. (I was expecting a letter or email) Now I have to wait ANOTHER year It just sucks that a year is wasted over something so silly. Now I just have to sit and wait it out ):
Such an unorganized program, they are supposed to officially inform applicants by e-mail or mail only. They should know that people can't touch the phone during work. For example, My phone is usually in work locker. I don't access to them during work time. Well, if you happened to get in to this program, I believe there were so many messed up things inside. Maybe better to apply elsewhere.

I really enjoyed your video! You really inspired me! I was thinking of doing my prerequisites but when I started them I was crying and losing hope because of how hard the classes were. I started to get scared by the science classes because I’m not that good in science. Dental hygiene was the only thing that caught my interest before I went to college. I’m still debating if I should pursue dental hygiene or go into business. I also received a two year scholarship for an associates degree and I want to use it for something that I want to do. But I feel lost right now
I applied 2 years in a row now and still haven't heard anything from school. even though i am working as dental assistant for 6 years and know most of procedures but still rejected 😔. I believe because of my Gpa. I only have 3.5. well still waiting with little hope
This video was very helpful. I’m struggling with pre reqs and it’s been a solid 3 years. It’s so frustrating because I’m struggling with this one math and the college won’t let me complete any biology or any sciences unless I pass that math. But I’ve passed my psychology. That’s a science right ? 🤷🏽♀️ Any Helpful tips with that ? I’m just lacking motivation. It’s so hard taking this math class online. I’m confused on what to actually do about this and I feel like I’m wasting my time really.
Baby girl Don’t give up when your sooo close,all hygienist hate math lol I do too!!Use your resources to pass get a chegg account get tutoring,look for rate my professor and if you have to take that math in a different college with another professor do it!There are things you can do! Keep your head up you are almost there!
A&P is not that hard more memorizing use UA-cam until you find someone that has good anatomy and physiology videos ,use chegg for math.You can do it !!Trust me
I agree with you! I've taken it multiple times some material is easy and others just don't stick. If you have a hard time with memorization like me it is harder. I also have a 2 year old and work full time so it's kind of rude to say something isn't that hard just because it wasn't hard for you
@@DaFliest3 Hi, I didn’t mean to be rude,it was an Easy course for me because I don’t have kids,And Memorizing comes natural to me however I still work 50 hours a week.In order to be successful sometimes we have to sacrifice our sleep or making memories with our family and putting school as a priority temporarily of course .Nothing in life it’s easy and your situation it may be harder but NOT IMPOSSIBLE if other people with children and work can do it!I believe you can too!If memorizing doesn’t work for you,find a style of learning that SUITS you.

I applied and got rejected because my science GPA is too low and even though I had a lot of background I still didn’t get accepted. So I gave up and now I’m taking health services administration and I hate it, but I’m not really sure what I can do about it because there’s only one school in my state that does dental hygiene and that’s the one I got rejected by. Do you have any advice because my counselor pretty much told me I really was not gonna get in.😓😭

To be honest it was so long ago I dont remember But it took me like 3 months to get it.I think they mail it but you can also check the dentpin page or call.

I took all my corequisite classes like my chemistry 2 class, Improved on my essay,met in person with the director of the program and Volunteer at my church.I also got a the required grade from my chem professor.❤️

AMEN!!! I got into dental hygiene on my first try. Did well in classroom but struggled in clinic. I ended up failing the first semester of my second year. I went straight into dental assisting program, became president of my class, graduated, got a great job, reached out to my hygiene program and have now been readmitted!!! I start back in two weeks!! Never give up on your dreams!! ✨❤️

Girl I'm so happy I found this video. I was denied/ rejected in June and I honestly thought I would be over it by now. I get really sad every now and then and today was so horrible for me. I honestly felt so bad, I started to doubt myself and I even wanted to give up. I had to submerge myself in positivity and let go of those negative thoughts. This is why I am so nerves about applying for the program. I am trying not to limit my options and apply to different schools. A lot of programs only accept 20 people a year once a year which already makes the chances of getting in low. I am working super hard to pass all my classes with A's and hopefully get into one of the 5 programs I am applying for.
I applied to dental hygiene school five years in a row and made the wait list once. I felt like I was never good enough although I had good grades (they low key wanted you to have a 4.0 or a masters degree apparently) and a packed resume with lots of dental experience and community service. It shattered my heart that I never got in. I gave up on that dream I had always had because I didn’t see them letting me in after the 6th, 7th, or 8th time either… I am now an ICU nurse. Too dumb to be a hygienist I guess but not too dumb to save your life 🤷🏻♀️

@@Fiestaonpetalsandballoons I believe they look at the person as a whole,Not just the grades,I know some school like if people that volunteer in their community,or play sports ,they want to see time management or that have a job, Previous dental experience,Great recommendation letters ,And the interview it’s really important.So Many things that go into their decision making .

I applied for the dental hygiene program at my uni for the second time this year (i didn’t get in first try because of my GPA was too low) and I’ve been really anxious and doubtful about my chance of getting in because I didn’t get the grade I wanted in one class that would help me raise my GPA. I’ve also been scared of getting rejected for the second time and I’m scared i’ll never get in. This video and the message you gave inspired me soo much and made me remember that God has a plan for us all and to trust the process. Thank you for sharing your story 💖. I applied to the dental hygiene program last year and sadly didn't get accepted but then I found this video and pursued my dream so I found my weakness and I went up 4 points on my ACT and today I submitted my packet for Dental Hygiene Admissions of 2022! @@karlatoledo2069 so I just got the email saying I didn’t get into the program. My GPA was .2 off. That was the only thing that kept me from getting in. I’m so heartbroken right now. I know I need to trust God’s plan and His timing, it’s just so hard. My heart just aches right now. I know this feeling will go, but in this moment, it seems impossible. But I know with God, all things are possible

I got the same question from one of a DH directors: “do you wanna be a nurse instead”? Omg, I got rejected sooo many times....doesn’t matter if you took extra prerequisites or not...Just never give up!!! And yes, I called the front desk lady, too. I asked her several times about my application status, so she left a sticky notes on my profile!!! Things happen for a reason!!! 💗

@Karla Toledo Hey Karla! Two months later and I'm rewatching this gem again 😜 I had an exam today for a pre-req and it was super demoralizing. Each question was 7+ lines long (which is fine)... but the prof only gives us 30 seconds to answer before moving to the next... he doesn't let you ask questions... nor go back to review... I broke down and cried my eyes out right after because I felt so disappointed in myself. I studied so hard and I know I know my stuff, but to churn out answers in 30 seconds is extremely challenging. Hearing your words of encouragement is exactly what I needed. Like you said, tonight I'll cry, feel sad, do some sobbing but tomorrow, I'll get up and try even harder. Your words are so empowering. Think twice before going to hygiene school. I've been doing it for 2 years and it's awful. It's all about selling products to your patients and getting the most money out of them. Patient care is not #1 anymore, it's about money. You will have 30 to 40 minutes per patient and will see from 10 to 15 a day. Private dentist are getting bought out by big cooperations and changing everything.

I started junior college to get all my pre-reqs. For the dental hyg. Program and stopped when it got to science because I got a job working for my Dentist as an assistant than moved up as registered dental assistant, have met and formed many relationships with Doctors and co-workers, and am now 4 years later finishing the last of my pre-reqs Chem, Physio, Anatomy, & Micro. To be able to apply to the program. While working part time in the field already at a comfortable pay and my current job/clinic is encouraging me and supporting my transition to part time to fulfill my dream, is a blessing in disguise. Sometimes things need to go left for them to go right again. ❤️❤️❤️ Loved this!

I've been taking prerequisites for the DH program at my school for the past year and I apply this Spring. I just found your UA-cam channel and omg you’re making me feel so much better😭😭 I’m currently 21 years old about to turn 22 I have changed my major like 3 times 😭😭 I’m currently taking my prerequisites to become a pediatric dental hygienist but lately I have been feeling very overwhelmed and discouraged since the DH is very competitive. I’m now stuck between being a pediatric dental hygienist or a pediatric dental assistant 😭😭😭
If your able to ,stick with dental hygiene,it’s not always about the money but as a hygienist you definitely earn more money and school is only 2 years after prerequisites,You also have more freedom,work more independently vrs as an assistant your working alongside with the dentist.You are so young,it’s normal to change your careers path,We all have gone through that!You are so close don’t give up now and yes Dh is competitive but if I did it so can you!trust the process!

Understand that there’s millions of people out there. Everyone wants a piece of the pie. The way the system works is so that a few people succeed and the others fail. It’s just business. It has nothing to do with merit or hard work. Don’t listen to all that toxic positivity bs. Don’t be a slave to extreme goals. Set goals that are realistic. You can achieve them all the time. Too many shattered dreams, student debt, high expectations, lust for money/material possessions, too many stressful tests, too much money invested with no outcome. Lots of energy, little relaxation, too little laughter , a lot of reading and typing, too much worry for the future, less contentment in the present.It’s like trying to find Eldorado. Be happy with what u have. Live in the moment. Don’t confine into the social construct of “success”. What society deems “ successful”. You make your own definition of success.

I was in school for Dental Hygiene and did not like it. I think it was a sign that it was not for me and I just was being stubborn because I told everyone that's what I was going to do. I am happier now with my business degree.

Hi your talking all facts, like i feel all what your talking about.i failed to get in dental hygiene program at my first try and i was so disappointed at myself. My story is a little different. My GPA is 3.7 and I had everything that I needed!!!
They called me and I didn’t pick up and they told me unfortunately since I didn’t pick up the phone.
My application is thrown away.
(I was expecting a letter or email)
Now I have to wait ANOTHER year
It just sucks that a year is wasted over something so silly.

Such an unorganized program, they are supposed to officially inform applicants by e-mail or mail only. They should know that people can't touch the phone during work. For example, My phone is usually in work locker. I don't access to them during work time. Well, if you happened to get in to this program, I believe there were so many messed up things inside. Maybe better to apply elsewhere.

I really enjoyed your video! You really inspired me! I was thinking of doing my prerequisites but when I started them I was crying and losing hope because of how hard the classes were. I started to get scared by the science classes because I’m not that good in science. Dental hygiene was the only thing that caught my interest before I went to college. I’m still debating if I should pursue dental hygiene or go into business. I also received a two year scholarship for an associates degree and I want to use it for something that I want to do. But I feel lost right now

I applied 2 years in a row now and still haven't heard anything from school. even though i am working as dental assistant for 6 years and know most of procedures but still rejected 😔. I believe because of my Gpa. I only have 3.5. well still waiting with little hope
This video was very helpful. I’m struggling with pre reqs and it’s been a solid 3 years. It’s so frustrating because I’m struggling with this one math and the college won’t let me complete any biology or any sciences unless I pass that math. But I’ve passed my psychology. That’s a science right ? 🤷🏽♀️
Any Helpful tips with that ? I’m just lacking motivation. It’s so hard taking this math class online. I’m confused on what to actually do about this and I feel like I’m wasting my time really.
Baby girl Don’t give up when your sooo close,all hygienist hate math lol I do too!!Use your resources to pass get a chegg account get tutoring,look for rate my professor and if you have to take that math in a different college with another professor do it!There are things you can do! Keep your head up you are almost there!

A&P is not that hard more memorizing use UA-cam until you find someone that has good anatomy and physiology videos ,use chegg for math.You can do it !!Trust me
I agree with you! I've taken it multiple times some material is easy and others just don't stick. If you have a hard time with memorization like me it is harder. I also have a 2 year old and work full time so it's kind of rude to say something isn't that hard just because it wasn't hard for you

I didn’t mean to be rude,it was an Easy course for me because I don’t have kids,And Memorizing comes natural to me however I still work 50 hours a week.In order to be successful sometimes we have to sacrifice our sleep or making memories with our family and putting school as a priority temporarily of course .Nothing in life it’s easy and your situation it may be harder but NOT IMPOSSIBLE if other people with children and work can do it!I believe you can too!If memorizing doesn’t work for you,find a style of learning that SUITS you.

I Apologize for my response,I should have written it better,A and P wasn’t hard for me to complete as Memorizing came easy to me,Math in the other hand is hard for me but In life we must learn to find ways to thrive ,We should always use our resources ,weather is a tutor,youtube,a book,Quizlet etc,I do online tutoring for organic chemistry because It’s hard for me to understand.I hope this helps 💕

So my dental school doesnt have standards but is competitive I am 27 and applying for fall they only take new students in the fall and im scared
I applied and got rejected because my science GPA is too low and even though I had a lot of background I still didn’t get accepted. So I gave up and now I’m taking health services administration and I hate it, but I’m not really sure what I can do about it because there’s only one school in my state that does dental hygiene and that’s the one I got rejected by. Do you have any advice because my counselor pretty much told me I really was not gonna get in.😓😭

To be honest it was so long ago I dont remember But it took me like 3 months to get it.I think they mail it but you can also check the dentpin page or call.

Take classes like biology,anatomy and physiology and chemistry
Also google dental hygiene schools near where you live and check out their prerequisites , guidance counselors can help with that!❤️

so what was the difference between the years getting rejected and getting in. What grades or whatever was different from not getting in and then getting in?
I took all my corequisite classes like my chemistry 2 class, Improved on my essay,met in person with the director of the program and Volunteer at my church.I also got a the required grade from my chem professor.❤️
