I am sorry, I can’t be a good judge of American rock bands, I am from Ukraine, so I am just asking to educate me a little, because I was born in 1975 and in early 90’s in Ukraine and Russia we grew up with Nirvana, Faith no more and Tool( my favorite) and it is first time I heard this voice… beautiful!!! For some reason it didn’t get across the ocean to Ukraine… my question- is this band standing in the same category, in style and popularity? Thank You, we were learning English at home to be able understand the lyrics of these unbelievable grate songs!!!

Layne sadly died early 2000's of drug overdose and weak physical condition. He was 34. He is amazing and forever missed. I never got to see them. I was born 1970. At the peak of their popularity I was a young, newly single mother to a toddler, but I always loved and still love them. They will melt your face with their power and feed your soul and nurture your pain with their music and lyrics. Always and forever. Be well, my friend.

You need to check out Madseason live at the moore 1995. Absolutely incredible. Best Layne Vocals ever. The only Layne concert I like better than AIC at the moore 1990. Same place same person but I have to say his voice was on another level in 95. Listen to "Long gone day". It's a different style of music... BUT THE VOICE OMG!!!

I have an original vinyl Alice In Chains sent to a radio station to try to be played on the radio and a recording of bleed the freak at this concert is on one side. It is absolutely incredible as you can hear his voice ring out through the venue even more on this recording. Sounds like you’re there! Also has no post production like the video recording we all know.
I miss his voice, AIC, in my eyes is one of the best bands ever!! Layne's voice is my favorite voice from the 90's, yes, there were other good singer's from that era but no one like him 😔

I saw that tour as well. It was shortly after he broke his foot. He had to perform in a cast, on a bar stool & on crutches. But he was there for the fans. RIP Layne & Mike. I miss you guys more than ever.

God, what a gift he was. Miss him although I never knew him or had opportunity to see AIC. (I was raising a young son as a single mom at the peak of their popularity.) Moore is a magic place in Seattle... The Mad Season did the greatest gig and this is the greatest AIC show ever for me, no doubt! Agreed. Too few AIC fans have seen the Madseason show at the Moore. The album isn't bad... but the live show is just so absolutely amazing and on another level of greatness. If you love Layne's voice it would be a tragedy if you've never experienced Madseason Live at Moore. Watch it. You will thank us later!

Moore is a magic place in Seattle... The Mad Season did the greatest gig and this is the greatest AIC show ever for me, no doubt! Agreed. Too few AIC fans have seen the Madseason show at the Moore. The album isn't bad... but the live show is just so absolutely amazing and on another level of greatness. If you love Layne's voice it would be a tragedy if you've never experienced Madseason Live at Moore. Watch it. You will thank us later!

So amazing.. Staley's voice was so naturally strong and consistent.. there couldn't have been a better platform than AIC's song style and writing for him to display his gift on.. very, very few rock singers sound that good live. He just had "it"!
