I am sorry, I can’t be a good judge of American rock bands, I am from Ukraine, so I am just asking to educate me a little, because I was born in 1975 and in early 90’s in Ukraine and Russia we grew up with Nirvana, Faith no more and Tool( my favorite) and it is first time I heard this voice… beautiful!!! For some reason it didn’t get across the ocean to Ukraine… my question- is this band standing in the same category, in style and popularity?
Thank You, we were learning English at home to be able understand the lyrics of these unbelievable grate songs!!!

@@vyacheslavvovkovskiy9497 greetings friend. First of all, how are you in Ukraine? Your nation is in my heart for a long time now. Second, I also love the bands you mention, so glad you include Tool. They are incredible, seen them live multiple times. Thirdly, this is the Band Alice in Chains, vocalist the late Layne Staley. The band still makes music and tours with a new vocalist. Layne sadly died early 2000's of drug overdose and weak physical condition. He was 34. He is amazing and forever missed. I never got to see them. I was born 1970. At the peak of their popularity I was a young, newly single mother to a toddler, but I always loved and still love them. They will melt your face with their power and feed your soul and nurture your pain with their music and lyrics. Always and forever. Be well, my friend.

      @@jenniferwintz2514 Dear friend,
Thank You so much for your kind words!!! Yes, Ukrainian people are in terrible pain, anxiety, depression and every minute in subconscious wait for death. They deny it and cover this emotion with feeling of defending their land and people, and these kind of emotions give more sense and acceptance to death, basically ( it is just my opinion) we all trying rationalize fact of death with religion, patriotism, love… but death it is just part of life and when you really deep inside understand this simple fact suddenly fears disappear, all psychological complexes disappear and everything becomes transparent. Sorry, I don’t know why I am writing all these to you, so if it came out maybe there’s reason.
About music, 2 years ago after I listened latest album of Tool it made me listen all the albums and I realized that when I was listening them at 18….. I didn’t understood the depth of their lyrics, probably because English is my second language and back then it was hard to understand any poetry and plus I was not as open for the ideas they have in their lyrics, sorry I hope my words make sense.
Again, thank you for responding, for all information!
Good luck to You and I wish you the best on your journey!
      Friend from Ukraine

He came blessed, was in pain, threw away his life and attempted to find an out in drugs and did too much. He killed himself and hurt others in the process. His time came and he was judged. Sad reality but it’s still a reality. No need to butter it up and make it like his choices had no effect on anyone especially his family but rather hurt many people.

God, what a gift he was. Miss him although I never knew him or had opportunity to see AIC. (I was raising a young son as a single mom at the peak of their popularity.) I thank God every day for his legacy of musical greatness. Over 30 years later it still helps me process and cauterize the wounds when they come.
