    If the back brake is on the left bar you're probably pulling it like a clutch and not with the same finesse you do with your right hand on a front brake. An example of this is in a car, in a safe place like a car park, try using the brake with your left foot and you'll find your face is on the windscreen unless you're really, really thinking about what you're doing.

    Good video, thanks.
    As of March 2022, it looks like there is a new version (same name) with a 4.6kW motor, coming in the standard or extended range options (different size batteries).
    From the pictures it looks to me like the batteries may have been moved under the central foot platform, so this will give more space under the seat for storage.
    The batteries staying unchanged may explain a slight decrease in range.
    Price wise, the standard range seems in touch with what was mentioned in the video with the extended range battery option adding an extra £700 (tipping the price over £4000) for an extra 10 miles or range, which seems a lot, but it may be a case of having to pay for it if you want power and range.
    I would say this moped would be overkill for going about town on 30 mph roads, but would be ideal for a semi-rural commute or if there is a need to pop on the dual-carriageway or motorway.
    Also worth a mention is the MGT Evo, with 5kW motor for around the same price as the NGT extended range option. Slightly less range, but more power. However, the picture looks like the batteries are still under the seat in that model as the foot platform doesn't look thick enough to take them.

    Try Lexham or Bennetts for Insurance. I got my Zero DS insured through Lexham. I do agree that new bikes (and especially new types of bikes) are hard to insure until they are on the system. In addition, if you are taking your A1 test on an electric, call well in advance because if it isn't on the DVLA test list, you're not going to be allowed to sit the Module 1 on it until it is.

  • @themax2go
    @themax2go 2 роки тому

    as for range, yes you can do touring on it, if you plan sensibly and aren't in a rush. although in long-distance driving situations, it's advisable to get a few extra batteries (2 at least) and a few bike upgrades (storage for extra batteries, solar charger, ...); also keep in mind that you'll only be allowed to "take the scenic route" and not go on "highways" (requiring a speed of >50mph - in the US), but on the upside this might translate to a shorter route and longer range (if using EBS).

    In my 40 odd years of biking I have to confess of only ever riding a scooter on two occaisions ,the first was a little Puch 50 which made the FS1E I had as a 16 year old seem like a superbike in comparison, the second one was a totally different story, at the time I'd an Aprilia RS250 which I'd left in the dealers for its first service so they offered me a little 125 two stroke scooter to get me to work, my thoughts before even seeing it were negative but it proved me wrong in a big way, its acceleration was great and favourable with most of the 250 commuter bikes available at the time, so I'd never try to put anyone of getting a scooter as a commuter but I would reccomend something bigger than a 50, as something with the power of a 125 or its electric equivalent can be fun as well as functional.

    Why not a light for the indicators, I would kill that noise.
    A scooter without store under the seat is useless; that’s why you ride a scooter in town and for commuting.
    Modern batteries prefer to be loaded, so charge them when possible.

    It would be interesting to see how insurance, and registration will be handled in the US. How will NIU M+ will be classified as a "moped," because it is restricted? That would be a plus for me. The M+ has underseat storage.

      David Collins hi Dave there is another version of this scooter that is classified as a 50cc moped and restricted to 30mph this scooter is way to fast to be classified a moped as he said it's equivalent to a 125 cc scooter/bike

    • @davidcollins1853
      @davidcollins1853 4 роки тому +1

      Right, I've been following the reviews. The M+ is restricted to 30mph, and uses one big battery. ...and to correct myself it takes up the underseat storage to give enough power to carry a passenger. In my state it is not legal to carry a passenger so the M is what I really want. The M was discontinued, but it had underseat space. I'm old school. Would u reccomend a model without the phone connectivity?

    It's a shame they went with linked brakes instead of ABS. Can you run the bike with a single battery if you wanted the storage space under the seat? They're 60v batteries and I doubt the motor is running off 120v (that's more than a Zero) so it should be fine to run off one with reduced range. What is the keyhole for under the seat?

  • @ruthmoreton6975

    I've had mine for over 2 years and 22,000km. It's a perfect town bike. I used mine for deliveries in a low power (30mph ( 47km/h ) ) and I would get about 50-70 miles out of it over a session. The insurance for me is £450 fully comp ( expensive ) compared to my BMW R1100 which was £210. Indicator noise is annoying but essential as it makes pedestrians ( oblivious people ) look before stepping out on junctions because they are assuming no engine noise = no vehicle. I did Leicester to Nottingham on it (36 miles ) in full power the entire way and it had about 10 miles range in it when I got there ( I was staying overnight and rode back the next day. So I had taken my charger ). It certainly draws attention. I often get other scooter / bikes / cars chatting with me. I can very much recommend one of these - if you can find the insurance at a price that's acceptable to you.

      Oh and changing a tyre yourself is very doable. I just take the wheel to a filling station and use the air there. I have done the rear wheel which is the hardest one to do as you have to disconnect the motor. There are a few vids around on how to do this.

    Great vid my friend. I do think that no storage does leave a LOT to think about with an electric scooter. You really loose the function of what a scooter is for the most part used for by most commuters. If it has great rage then maybe delivery or couriers can use them. Although I hear they have a problem with theft in city locations. Ah well at least it's a step in the right direction for electric engines.

    also to mention, although not related to this bike's features, but the NUI RQI motorcycle is coming out (well, it's "out" since 2019, but still isn't available for purchase yet - at least not in the US); much faster speed (~100 mph) at ~80 miles range; with EBS and if driving much slower, the range might double, maybe go up to ~200 miles - but that's just an estimation based on my experience with electric vehicles.

  • @themax2go

    as for the positive point, "the electronics on-board"... there is / are some "cabling issues" of electrical wiring, which are not as securely fit as they could be and inconsistent securing of connectors (some have an "adhesive" at those connectors, some do not); this could be "fairly easily" remedied by opening up the bike cover and engaging in some "cable management" activity and other TLC (such as applying some "liquid adhesive" at the connectors where it's missing). only because people from "apple, bmw, ..." are behind the design / engineering, doesn't mean there weren't corners cut. this is especially important to remember when using this as your only means of commute (which a lot of ppl actually do, especially now with the gasoline prices gone up so much). in other words, it's always a bad idea to "buy into a brand".
