We spoke to Derek a few years ago at Thornton le dale I enjoyed that a very nice gentleman we where on our way home from Scarborough we will visit the museum when it opens again the last time we just had to go window shopping I’ve worked 30 years in the automotive industry greetings from Scotland 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
Visited museum in 2007 spoke to Derek 😊😊really enjoyed it Very interesting still have photos Pleased about your Tv success Hope it continues watched every show 😮😮😮 Keep them coming Thank you
Great motor enthusiast and spokesman. A very humble gentleman with good old fashioned common sense. Pleasure to listen to someone professional in the trade who doesn't use bad language unlike Top Gear.
Visited the museum a couple of times in the past, last time was around 2005 when we stayed in a cottage down the side street where the museum is, think it was £3 entry, Derek came from the showroom at front , unlocked the door, said enjoy and left us to it …. A treasured memory.
Mathewsons know cars, it's in their DNA, as simple as that - bikes commercials, oddballs and 'autmobilia' as well come to that, as their eclectic collection - part included here - shows. Watched Bangers & Cash, followed the auctions online checking estimates reserves and results, stalked a couple of my dream car marque and put in a couple of highest 'submit' bids (not accepted but that's how it goes) then a couple of years ago bought a car unseen relying entirely on Del Boy's video and the photos. Exactly as described, the car's not concours but doesn't disgrace itself was Derek's description and absolutely bang on. It's still a head turner on the road or parked up. The most fun I can have with my clothes on.😂 I live in Yorkshire and as soon as I say I bought at auction their immediate reaction is "Mathewson's? 'course it was (duh) there's nobody else round here!"
I had a quick chat with derek at arromanche on D DAY evening i was on my bicycle with my dog Dottie in her trailer behind it .i never mentioned the show or that i work on classic cars myself .we spoke about Arromanche then he spotted Dottie in the trailer and laughed .love all the tv and utube stuff i will stop at the campsite behind your place at Thornton soon so i can leave Dottie in the motorhome and visit the museum cheers chris
i remember coming to have a look at you and your museum middle to late 90s .derek himself was under the canopy polishing a blue zodiak .had a quickchat to himsef .
One of the hardest working families in the UK. They all deserve knighthoods from the King and Queen. A tremendous credit to the work ethics of England.
Since your very first appearance on Bangers & Cash I have followed the program and since Covid as a company you have grown tremendously and is just as interesting now as it as ever been. But I noticeyou no longer do live auctions so I they all done either on line or via telephone.
I visited the museum a few years ago, I think it was £2, but it could have been free, to get in! I left my family in the park across the road and had a good look round. I was the only person in there. Would love to go again, but can you imagine the queues. They would be around the block! Derick mentioned the Rillington garage, everytime I pass it I wonder what treasures are in there and why it's not in use.
Looks like there isn't enough hour's in the day for what Derek wants to do there, but as the old saying goes Rome wasn't built in a day . But once he's got it done it will be a fantastic place to visit.
Same as all the other museums displaying stuff that's been superseded and relegated to archaeological or historical curiosities. Everything we use now has been developed from museum exhibits that failed which is why modern stuff works, it learned from past failures, hence why the current crop of BEVs will only be seen in museums in the quite near future.
Electric cars are shite, some of these car's here are 60/70 years old and still going strong, your Electric junk will be recycled into coke cans after 15 years
Went into the museum before it closed and it was great, I dont know if it is still outside the entrance to the museum and it was a Bond 3 wheeler which had a 197 villiers engine driving the front wheel, it brought me back to my teenage years when I had to trade in my 650 BSA Super Rocket for one as my son came along, that was certainly a culture shock !!!!!
I love to watch anything to do with the mathewsons Dereks a gentlemen , lovely family good luck to you all 👍🚛
Visited the museum quite a few times before Covid on my way home to Bridlington and really enjoyed it. Hope it gets opened again!
I visited about 2 years ago. The village is beautiful. Visited the shop and met Derek. He’s an absolute Gent
Fantastic… thank you so much for the time you take to talk to us😎👍
Thanks for showing us around your world, most interesting. Lovely cars there! Absolutely love Bangers & Cash.
Wonderful building, alone, if it was empty. As it is on this walk-around, it's an art gallery! Thanks for sharing this with us.
An absolute top bloke .. always reminds me of my late father, knowledge, and love for proper cars .. well done to the mathewsons family !

I loved every minute of that 🙂
One of TV's better moments.

One thing Derek never mentioned is how he ended up there when I believe he lived and worked in Luton…
He probably wanted to leave Luton because of what was arriving there .😂
I love that last comment. Proper made me laugh because we know it's probably true 😂😂😂
Looks like there isn't enough hour's in the day for what Derek wants to do there, but as the old saying goes Rome wasn't built in a day . But once he's got it done it will be a fantastic place to visit.
I thought he was from London……
why cant we watch you and yesterday live online anymore??
I think you should do a series of videos looking at your car collections
Thank you for the tour. Watching from Ecuador

In the future car musems will have only eletric cars
A kind of short circuited history of motoring!
@@marccherry7409 the future is Electric
