Love the review... Nice shots of Lincoln, i live locally also ... I've just bought the niu mqi gt evo... Fantastic bit of kit... 62 mph, quick of the mark, charge it once a week, hardly any maintenance... 0 road tax, £116 a year fully comp insurance... Wished I'd bought one years ago.
Good review. I've got my Gts Sport for over a year now....a dream-machine. I already saved 1000's of bucks on fuel. It just does the job to absolute perfection.
I got my NIU Nqi GTS 2021 model for a couple of months now. I bought it second hand for 2000€. Absolute fun! I enjoy it every day. I can't describe how cool it is to ride. Also it feels like a full package. Looks like a Tesla of Electric Scooters with the phone connectivity, GPS, and all the features. I love it!
I live in China. I have an electric scooter, Make is “Tailg”. I have had mine 4 years now. Sadly NIU did not have that many scooters out here then. I would have bought one, they are very good. They are now getting very popular, although they are about the most expensive scooters here. And probably the best as well. They cost here 16999 RMB which is £2050 in our money. You do not need tax, insurance, MOT nor a licence in China to ride an electric scooter. I would recommend this scooter.
This is an awesome looking scooter. A great alternative to a Vespa. I can remove the batteries and recharge them in my apartment. I live in NYC and there is a Niu store here. I need to visit. I do wish that Niu would increase the top speed to 70 mph and that there was underseat storage for a helmet and groceries but, obviously, it needs room for the big batteries. Nonetheless, brilliant! Thank you.
Great review! Nice commentary. 👍 Live in Edinburgh had an NQU Sport since August. Brilliant piece of powerful kit, even though mine is restricted to 30mph, it’s plenty in Edinburgh as all roads are 20-30mph apart from Queensferry road - main drag in from North and south. It will pull away from ordinary driven cars at lights, junctions with its acceleration. It’s very confident boosting. I even keep mine in the house - being electric and not flammable ICE. Only a couple of electric insurers out there so not lots choice. It doesn’t go under ordinary motorbike insurance. Must say though the app is crap. I’ve had a ticket open for over 2 months trying to get the “GO” feature to record on my (millions out their on the same iOS) iPhone. It’s also now out of sync with my mileage. Saying that I’ve done 470mile in 13 charges and I have the extra under seat storage - you can get a 12 pack of Stella in there! Bought panniers and top box. It’s pulls an incredible 269kg of weight. Oh and you can’t go in cycle ways or bus lanes unless it has the motorbike symbol on it. Plus the nighttime lighting is superb. The indicators I’m sure are better than some cars on the road and cruise control is just a nice feature. Btw, the umpteen tunes for the indicators are for pedestrians at corners or who walk out in front of you. For instance driving in shopping car parks put the hazards on and it allows them to hear you coming. Lastly the GTS Pro has a nice CBS feature, which you touched on. So if you put the front brake on it will transfer some power to the rear and vice versa. Then of course you have brake regen which will put about 8% back into the battery. Yeah self cancelling indicators on all the NIU range. Mine was £2,478. You can change the sound you want on the indicators if you don’t like default. You can also drive the moped class (50cc) on a full driving license without a CBT if you passed before Feb 2001.
I think my Lifan E3 does almost as well but the bike is only half the price of a NIU and I can keep my rain gear and a big bike lock under the seat and it comes with a back box as standard.
Not having ridden motorcycles for many decades, one thing I do recall was making sure I had role bars on the bike in case the bike went over (which, on a couple occasions, in my inexperience, it did do). With this machine's all plastic construction, how well does the bike behave when it goes down? Similarly, because of the lack of metal on the bike, is there anywhere where you can solidly attach a security chain to secure the bike up to some street furniture?
Since no one has replied yet. I've seen locks through front wheels. Chains around the middle center then to a lamppost. And has the built in alarm and GPS thing that might be a tracker?
Mines insured for £120 . Third party F&T. You have to search as insurance companines algorithms have very little data, so you can easily get quotes for £600+
I was quoted £1180 for comprehensive… I’m 25 and literally just passed my CBT and no no claims bonus… hopefully I can get an A1 soon or something to reduce it?…
Hello and thank you so much for making this video, can you please tell me if i could ride this bike on Grandad right's (as it has a top speed of 45mph) or would i have to pass my CBT every two years? Thanks in advance.
You’d need to keep doing the CBT (or otherwise get a full “proper motorbike” licence) from what I’ve gathered. If you have a car licence it only exempts you from doing (or retaking) a CBT for 45km/h (28mile/h) mopeds
One thing that initially put me off the Niu was the first insurance quote - £550 fully comp. After some searching around I got one for £380, which is still steep, after I found out a work colleague got his for half the amount, mainly due to the fact he also rode a Honda Nc750x. The excuse is its new tech, therefore untried with lack of data, or to the point, commit highway robbery.
Yes. It can go up to 45mph. Just be careful in places where the speed limit is higher because traffic might come up on you quickly so keep an eye on your mirrors. The used to be a minimum speed capability of 2/3rds the speed limit, check this yourself If it still exists.
Why do you feel you need music in the back round? It ruins the video. Did not come here for a music video, but to learn about the scooter. Just for future reference loose the music next time.
Yes very good but soon you go to under 40% batery then my gts Niu put me stock on a side of the road and then my two batery discharge for no reason so heavy to ouch then until now twice do it to me so if working no 1 but if not it sick big time I’m using this batery ❤ 0:06
I was the same, I just didn't want only 50 mph on moped... I've just bought the gt evo model it does 62mph... Just enough to keep a clean licence on the open road bits 🛵👌... Further from my last reply... I had 68 mph out of it today!! Plenty fast enough on a scooter!? Great fun.. Get one buddy 👌🛵
I didn’t get far with this video, as soon as you said „a little German firm called Bosch“ I knew you don’t have a clue, why would I waste my time watching your review, do your homework.
They are available in the USA I got a MQI+ Sport just 3 weeks ago at a local store here in Seattle and I love this thing! after purchasing it and riding it for this time now I have my sights on a MQI Evo for the extra speed on the busier and faster speeds. I do not regret this purchase at all and yes I will get another!
it's completely useless at least for now. it could have been on the legal speed limit for couple of hundred miles radius capacity vehicle for the amount of money could be well spent. but now, it is only a waste...

I've had mine for about a year, it's absolutely brilliant, it costs me about 50p a week to commute to work. Quality kit also!
Have you had any issues at all? I’m considering for my urban commute through London which I currently use a 600cc motorbike for.

I just bought one and I really love it. Worth it with rising gas prices. So fun to use.

This is a perfect review. Excellent work! GPS so that the police can find your beloved scooter. That’s so cute.

the vespa GTS300 is also silent. Very quiet machine. At road speeds you can't even hear the engine.
Can or are you allowed a pillion ?

Any idea if the speedo gives you the true speed? I thought it could be, given the GPS and that wouldn’t put you too far from an indicated 50 in a car.

Needs to be 60mph to be safe to ride imo,and double tbe range then it would be perfect

I fear that UK regulations will make mincemeat of this -especially age to ride one !
Can you drive this on an A road? Like the A406?

This eMoped is way bigger and heavier than Segway C80! why would anyone compare these two?
can I take a passenger ?
I saw a video from NIU that wins in acceleration to a Lamborghini, you think is real? That you try the bike. 🧐
It's very fast off the mark. Tried it and liked it but not the 14" wheeled version. The geometry was a bit off and my feet couldn't get comfortable.
