As a kid/teenager one of my favourite songs was always "the way it is" by Bruce Hornsby and The Range, but somehow I never realised what a lot of other amazing music Bruce has made. So happy I've finally found gems like this one on UA-cam - but a bit sad I didn't find them earlier. This is such a joyful performance by fantastic performers - what a treat it must have been to be in the audience for this. I'll be watching this many more times for sure!

That new drummer... Holy cow, he’s fantastic. So so good. 🙏🏼 And that’s not taking anything away from Sonny, who was also fantastic. As was John Molo during his time. Bruce has a knack for recruiting the best percussionists.

Saw these guys a few nights ago in Durham, NC. Had to come home and look up the drummer. He is a BEAST! Can't imagine playing like that while keeping a CONSTANT eye on Bruce because ... well, you know how Bruce changes things up at a moments notice!

Bruce salvaged the '80s for me. I know exactly where I was the first time I ever heard him on the radio. He's been a musical hero ever since. Last year in August I saw him with this band in Dillon, CO. It was at an amphitheatre beside a lake. Near the end it began to lightly rain. He came out for the encore with Mandolin Rain. Nough said.
I love watching “ The other ones “ concerts, especially when Bruce Hornsby does Wharf Rat.

It's absolutely beautiful. I've never understood how this song is such a secret.
Just saw Bruce and the band play in Boulder tonight, and although I always long to hear the early works and his piano magic, this song blew the roof off of the Chautauqua Barn, with prolonged interplay between piano and violin, along with the others, and a driving rhythm section, very cool!
Had the pleasure of seeing these cats last night. Playful, pure. Those Hornsby voicings! Good stuff.

Yes, that was my reaction as well - (and a number of other songs by this line-up, in particular) - it all comes together in a way that is so rare. I actually had chills, weeping simply out of the sweet joy of the music - the affirmation of life.

I love bruce and have been such a huge fan since 1987. This is a reflection of how diverse and amazing his talent is. it’s amazing that he can make an amazing song new and different. How is it possible........because he is amazing. I dream that if there is a next life that I can play, create and perform like Bruce. Thank you Bruce.

Incredible band without a doubt. I saw them at a very special venue many years ago, The Biltmore House in Asheville with the mountains as a background.

I am a huge Bruce fan but it is so refreshing to hear him play one of his songs basically as is without giving us excerpts from Stockhausen or Ligeti. I can really do without that!
