Bruce Hornsby & The Noisemakers - "Look Out Any Window" (Live)

- This song reached #35 with an anchor on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1988, but we’re hoping it reached #1 in Turlock, CA. The version here doesn’t include our recent go-to end-of-song move, a Steve Reich-esque Minimalist section featuring violin and piano that often becomes a fairly glorious sound; we did a different thing here in the moment that was fun, just spontaneously following the moment. I often think of our great departed friend Levon Helm when playing this song; he made an appearance as a farmer in the video. Along with being an iconic musician-singer, he was also a very notable actor, and we loved him so much.

Fortunately for Mr. Hornsby and the rest of us, he has in fact mellowed like a finely made violin. Richer, more vibrant and so uplifting. An American treasure.
Are you us as you were in the band?
His piano technique and fingering are flawless.
Songs From The Southside was the the soundtrack of several summer holidays touring in the south of France in a large old Renault with no air-con for our young family, rear windows open, and these to us 'mystic' melodies coming from the stereo. Thanks Bruce. Excellent.
😊 From France !
This song is still as relevant in 2021 as when originally released in 1988!!
In 2024
Late summer, late 1980s. Driving south on Highway 95 from Coeur d’Alene to college in Moscow, Idaho, windows rolled down on my 1968 Firebird. The rolling hills of the Palouse with the not-yet-harvested wheat standing tall in the fields and “Look Out Any Window” blaring on the stereo - it was an utterly sublime experience. Thank you for that and the musical journey ever since!
Thank you for that. Reminded me of similar times.
His heart, his voice, his soul hasn't changed since I first heard his music in the 80's. Thank you for not changing in a world that changed so much.
SO WELL PUT... and I'll add: " Always renewing".
Well said
I have seen many great musicians over the decades. Bruce H is one of the best.
So true...
I love his music it’s got so many memories it’s unbelievable..
Man, those drums are TIGHT
The communication in the band in those improvised parts blows me away. Such craftsmanship. Take a bow!
He is a treasure. My husband I sat for many nites in the country listening to him ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I have to admit. I didn't become a Hornsby fan until I saw the movie "World's Greatest Dad".
This never gets old no matter how many versions BR plays... priceless
amen, always goosebumps!

Whoever makes "noise" with Bruce it's absolute magic. He's a musical genius.
Simply the best
One of them !
Back in the 80s before The Way It Is, he entered a contest. I cannot remember the name of the contest but Kim Carnes won it the first year, and Hornsby won it the next year. It was a songwriting contest. I entered both years and of course, I lost, and found out just how good I was NOT! This guy is great. At the time, I had no idea what he sounded like, until the release of The Way It Is and I was completely humbled. Wonderful artist.
Sounds great 👍 👌 😀
Always a fav of mine.
Love this man.
Great players with him.
The drummer has the perfect beat
Thank you Mr. Hornsby.
Got to see him one time downtown San Diego. Unforgettable!
He's on tour this summer. See him while you can.
when I was just a kid fresh out of the Marine Corps, I first heard Bruce Hornsby when I was working at Jetway. I left Jetway after I bought a brand new Peterbilt and a flatbed trailer. I proceeded to go trucking all over the country!!! I remember seeral times putting him into the tapedeck and completely forgeting where I had been for dozens of miles!!!!! To this day, he takes me away into a different world when I am listening to him!!! WELL DONE BRUCE!!! WELL DONE!!!
I love that. When I was in my twenties I drove over the road for a few years. This music was my constant companion.
I love how they all look so happy doing what they're doing. Feels good to watch, as well as hear that great music.
Karen, I noticed that too. It seems like they truly enjoy the experience not just the music.
Saw him in Tennessee last week. It's something magical to see him direct his band.
Absolutely
One word, FANTASTIC !!
Oh this makes my day....Oh Bruce, if you only knew how much you have enriched my life. I love you and I love your songs....
@Bruce Hornsby Official you are not Bruce...!
@LittlePoet my big criticism Bruce new albums gotten away from his piano style that made him popular. Its too produced
@@LittlePoet yeah, it's an imposter 😂🤦♀️
The 80's irrespective of genre............sends chills down me spine.
You’re truly an American Treasure that should be cherished and honored. Thanks for all the wonderful music and encouragement to be a better human being.
He’s an American masterpiece, a musical genius,,, he did the work. He’s an inspiration.
Only the great genius of hornsby can compose a tune on the piano and turn it into a full fledged JAM
May the universe bless him forever
I love how happy they all are to be working with Bruce . What a dream job!
Seems to me they all like working with each other.
Sitting in with Bruce during one of his performances like this one has to be on one's bucket list. Much respect, sir...
I have done so, earlier in his career. It was so uplifting!!!
His music brings me back to 1986 when I was 16!
I could listen to Bruce and his band all night long! Oh! I did several times!
I just love this band so much. Thank you for always making me smile. Love to you all ❤️
Holy sh!t he's better than ever!
I also love that he does his old hits in such an incredible way, that’s a true artist that loves his fans 😊
Still beautiful.
He is. Forever
So great ....Love super outstanding Master Bruce Hornsby !!! Master Bruce's piano skills are so unique and professionally.
Bruce Hornsby equals Legend!!!
Bruce you cannot get any better! Flawless, more than that, so PURE. Levon needed your friendship as did Jerry - so many need it now. This is music’s power, and you were born with. Good guys do finish first, your proof. God’s speed Sir.
What a great band you have
Still one of the best live performers ever.
Solid, harmonic, absolute.MUSIC. Love it!
LOVE the fiddle!
First time I've seen this video
Bruce is a national treasure !
Is My favorite song!
The interplay between all of them is amazing! I like the dynamics too! Hats off to the drummer a well!!!
So perfectly synchronized! Truly talented musicians for a truly amazing composition.
Long life to Mr. Hornsby!
The bass player is all smiles and his playing is really awesome !
There are a few songs in modern popular music that have great intros and powerful "turn it up" qualities. Boston's "Long Time", Chuck Mangione's "Feels So Good" are a couple off the top of my head. The full orchestral arrival are goose bump inducing. This is one of those songs. I saw Bruce and The Range in Boise, Idaho in '88. The second album had just come out and they were touring. Such a great show.
Seeing your face during this song is the best ever, Bruce! I see your expression during each major change, you to the band, etc. It's awesome to see you enjoy your life's work. what an amazing tune and musical career, we love your music!
just damn gorgeous music
Ok when you don’t have your day you put this on and all the clouds disapear!
Right, So am going to have this song in my head all week,
WONDERFUL 😂
Mr Hornsby has next-level musicality, some kind of genius - although born through many years of practice. Quite wonderful group of musicians all round.
Love from South of Brazil.
If a Swiss clock was a band (and a performance),
it would be this. Whan can I say. Smiling all the way through
Been a huge fan since 1985 and still going strong. Love his musical roots and catchy tunes. A true Musician.
Love love love
I have loved Bruce forever and a day! never stop giving Bruce, you're just as the best as the rest!! thank you,, and Mandolin Rain..like none other xx :)
Musicology like no other. What a gift!!!
omg i have a new favorite. dont stop!
My favorite drummer….bass
I like the addition of the violin. He still play the piano without missing a beat. I alwys liked his style of piano playing and I stil have some of his older albums on vinyl.
Good lord!!!! What a performance!!!!!
Fantastic song...fantastic version.
GOOD STUFF !!!
an amazing artist and storyteller - Bruce played at George Mason University over 30 years ago and I was hooked, been a fan ever since
The mix on this upload is incredible! Best sounding vid I've heard in a while. Such a killer version, too. Bruce at his finest
Yes, yes, yes and YES. Great comment too.
For genuine musicians like Bruce Hornsby & friends, simply reproducing the original track would just be far too easy. They don't want to that, they want to be a creative. And wow! What a result!
Pure Gold !
If I had only one song to listen to for the rest of my life, this one would do nicely.
Bruce LIVE is always a treat. I wish I would moved past his pop classics long ago and truly discovered the musical genius.
Love it
Such great music I just love this guy
@@brucehornsby4322 😂🤣🤣 I don't think she's that gullible or desperate !
What a gift you continue to be!😊
I love Bruce Hornsby.
Ha..the band just feels wheres he's going .....but where he stops nobody knows !! Love it!.
Bruce = amazing 😊
Love how the implicit harmonies of the Bach are shared with the actual ones of this lovely-and loving-timeless song. Ad multos!
For those who don't know, BRH is a classically-trained pianist with a degree from the University Of Miami (FL). He also studied at the prestigious Berklee College Of Music, near Boston.
Was there for the 1988 concert in Milwaukee. Filmed the mtv video for this song that night.
Wow. Just wow.
I would love to hear Bruce play classical music his fingers are magical.
Look at his tour schedule. "An Evening with Bruce Hornsby" is a solo piano event, and he mostly plays classical music.
I am a new fan and his music gets me chair dancing!!😁
Listening in March 2023❤️
Can't get enough of this!
The smiles of joy on all their faces as they played.
His music was the soundtrack to so many of my 1980s days....
Still reminds me of the first independent vacation and road trip from Hervey Bay in QLD to Byron Bay in NSW with the GF. We stayed for two weeks. The old Datsun 510 didn't miss a beat and I'm not ashamed to say that a shit load of weed was smoked and a great deal of love made. Good times!
He is one of a kind
Aging like a fine wine. Thank you, Bruce. Hope to see in Ft. Lauderdale in November.
Legend 🥰✨🎶🎹😊
Awesome!!
As a matter of fact, this song did climb to the top of the charts in Turlock, CA. Numero uno for a week or two. They love Bruce in Turlock and he loves them for that.
It is Aug. 2023. The stories I could tell.
I have waited for years to listen to this live master piece, many thanks for this, and to this great performance to all!!!!!
Much emotions now
We love you Bruce. Thank you.
"That's Just The Way It Is", was not only a song that fit the time in which it came out, it transcends it. It was true then. It would've been true in the 1950's, 60's, on up to this very day...
This song is just like it...
Timely, and yet Timeless...
Wonderful …
My Master!!
