- When the ventilation system on 2005-2010 Jeep Grand Cherokees and Commander stops blending the temperature correctly, the problem may be a broken actuator arm or blend door shaft in the air distribution box. This can happen when debris prevents the blend door from moving and breaks along the shaft.
Replacing the air box is an expensive and time-consuming job. The part alone is several hundred dollars, and also requires removing the entire dashboard to replace it.
Depending on whether a vehicle is equipped with a single-zone or dual-zone climate system and where the breakage occurs, Dorman offers OE FIX solutions that allow you to repair a broken actuator arm or blend door shaft without removing the dashboard or air box.
This video shows you how to repair either a single-zone or dual-zone system when the actuator arm has broken using Dorman part number 604-387, or when the blend door shaft has broken using Dorman part number 604-388. The video also demonstrates how to repair a broken blend door shaft on a single-zone system using Dorman’s blend door actuator relocation kit, part number 604-386.

Will this kit work on the upper actuator? I have a 2012 Jeep Liberty and the 2 gears that move the air flow to different diffusers, between defrost, to dash vents, to floor, those gears are broken. I will also need to find the 2 white plastic pieces and the and the black center piece that ties the white pieces together.

How do I order one for a single control door
I have a clicking noise that goes away after about 20-30 seconds and when i inspected behind the glove box i found a broken black set of gear teeth. I still have heat but not sure if the ac works. Most of the people in my Jeep’s specific groups are telling me it’s the blend door motor gear and not the shaft? Any fixes for that?

The blend door shaft (white piece) spins and pushes in to the point wear I can't attach the actuator arm on to it (little black shaft) what can I do.

@@apettitt2378 Same here as well, the parts guy told me I'd need to buy the entire blend door system and it's a 1K job, I'm gonna use zip ties to move the box from cold to hot.
@@marcturf same here ,how do you use zip ties to move i to from cold to hot, i just need it to be on hot here in Alaska in the summer rolling down the windows is enough to cool the car
