    Thank you SO MUCH for doing this simple little video. I had this problem on my 2011 Jeep Liberty. First it was the the loud clicking and I had no idea what it was. Then I figured out it was the Blend Door Actuator and was able to get one for my Jeep at Amazon of all places for less than $20.00. 10/03/23.... Then trying to find out how to put it iin was a mess. Your video was the one that helped me the most. I know there are two actuators but I didn't know which one controlled the heat/cold until I saw your video and how well you explained which one it was, and how it could be manipulated by hand in order to put the new one in. After I saw this it only took me about 15 minutes to get the job done.... Almost too simple... Your video was clear and consise without all the noise, and music and overactive narator. Just simple, down to earth instructions. SO HELPFUL... Forever grateful here!!!.

    Awesome video and info! Helped me fix my parents 2008 Liberty heating issues for 0 dollars! Just greased up that flap door gearing and it's been smooth sailing since. I knew what the problem was before hand, having had a similar issue with the flap door on my VW but had no idea where the actuator motor was on the Jeep. Just awesome information and clearly presented. Thanks again!

    Thank you for the post. This UA-cam is invaluable now days. My 2012 is doing the same thing, and my first thoughts were temp thermostat getting stuck, but the engine temp is not fluctuating or over heating. The first time my heat just stopped working and blew cold air, I moved the dash blend dial and it blew hot again. I thought nothing of it until it happened again. I was prepared to start the process of elimination and change my thermostat until I saw your video. Now I have a good feeling it’s this simpler fix. Thank you.

    Two things. First, thank you for a simple explanation that didn't include mumbling, wind, no light, and "um, er, uh" as adjectives. Next, good call on replacing the other components that will eventually fail if one must tackle the job of removing the dash.

    This was a big help on my 2010 Liberty. I just pulled the actuator off and found it was just stuck. I used some electronics cleaner on it and just worked it back and forth with the switch for a while. Thanks for the tip on calibrating it

    the blend doors have some kind of "sponge" that shuts the door hermetically, but this sponge can "melt" if your motor is overheating and your heating is on. This also happens with time, this sponge desintegrates leaving a sticky mess behind. Is at that point that the actuator has some trouble opening the blend door.
    If the problem is recent, chances are you dont need to remove the actuators or the panel below the steering wheel. Besides its a mess to put it back together. You can remove the sticky mess if you remove the radio panel and clean it over the front. A cell phone with camera and flash helps, because there is no visibility otherwise.
    If your actuator has struggled for too long with the sticky mess, you can get the grooves of the cogwell broken, in that case you WILL need to remove the actuators to try to fix it. So, get rid of the sticky mess before its too late. some chemicals help, but try not to spill to much because below the blend door there may be other "sponges" that may cause trouble if they come off and get in a place they shouldnt be. Today i fixed mine and i made a video, in case someone needs to see it.
    Once you remove the sticky mess, make sure your motor is not overheating, specially if your AC compressor failed (motor overheating is a cause for AC compressor failing), make sure your motor temperature sensor works properly, otherwise the overheating will cause other sponges to melt and cause otcher sticky problems.

    • @BasictoPHP
      @BasictoPHP 3 роки тому

      @@melanietylerdavis3030 most of the times when its barely warm, adding new coolant helps dissolve whatever is blocking the heater core. It takes time though, usually in a few weeks you will start noticing it gets warmer and warmer. In your case this is most likely to fix it. Of course if you want it fixed faster, you can do a complete cleaning of the core, muriatic acid cleans it in a few minutes, be careful handling the acid though.

    What I meant by you don't want it to mess up is once you take that blend door motor off don't mess with your hot cold dial until it's actually back on, but you can once the motor is off, use your fingertips and move that flap up and down by turning the white part clockwise and counterclockwise

      John Zappone lol my wife's is doing that also😡. There is another blend door motor above the one in this video. To easily access it the dash part below the steering column drops down (first take that change holder on the left out). Well I took the upper blend door motor off to see if it was jammed, but it really didn't make that much of a difference.... I need to look into it a bit harder I might call the jeep dealership and see if they know an easy fix. I will update you if they have any helpful info.

      kyle ladd flushing the heater core on a Liberty is extremely easy. The hoses are easily accessed and removed and then u just stick a running garden hose on one side and then the other (just watch the video Chris mentioned). I'd do that WAY before I'd take a dash apart!

And if I remember right I think it can only go back on one way. Once you take it off move the flap with your fingers to see if it is jammed up.
