There was NO buzz at all about her album aside from within her stan group and even the interest there was very little. The album was released and the interest wasn't there so Island wasn't going to do more promotion and M.I.A. wasn't exactly doing her best of promoting either.
I think she was learning, she’s a refugee, grew up in UK, found a way to express herself that got worldwide acclaim but her views and actions burnt her. She also had a child and a messy divorce - she’s just like us, learning as she goes along. No reason for her music not to be put out but labels don’t care they only want money
