When the R35 GTR was first made in 2008, I was in elementary school. Now it's 2023 and I'm a grown man with my own house. The R35 GTR is ready for a new model. It's R36 time
It Went into production in 2007 in Japan Than USA in 2009 This Body Style is Very Out Dated

I feel like the R35 GT-R is the car equivalent of the Fast & Furious franchise at this point. It seems as if they just want to see how long they can keep it going. That being said - honestly, I respect their persistence.

I fear the longer they go, the more Nissan risks not meeting expectations once they do release a true R36. I remember how let down many were when the stats for the Supra came out..
A rebadged Celica GT, if it was a actual Supra, it would be at LF-A price range

The reason these controls are being put in place is because too many people abused the system, Speeding / street take overs / drunk driving .

I would imagine they're developing a chassis similar to the C8.
The chassis needs to be able to be configured for multiple drivetrain types.
In the publicity material for the C8 E-ray, they talk about how the C8 platform was designed from the beginning with a hybrid drivetrain in mind, as the center "trans tunnel" was designed to fit batteries for a hybrid system.

It might be ancient at this point, but I'm 100% for continuing this platform. I'm dreading the words "hybrid" or "electric" when/if the R36 is announced in which case the R36 can do 0-60 in 2 seconds, but I'll still prefer the R35 and older to it. Keep making these things Nissan, they're legendary.
Just happy they're still making it. Rather than making it electric, with a big speaker for sound. It's a great car, shit I would buy one if I could.

Own a 2014 Black Edition. It needs to retire. Let it go down in history and release a R36, whether it's EV or ICE or Hybrid. It's still a fantastic car. But with inflation people still don't understand, the price tag isn't worth it to them anymore when you can get a Corvette for less and think it's the greatest thing because it's new.

Is there any official documentation that shows where Nissan ever officially calls it the R35? I've never heard it... not saying they didn't just never heard it. To me its just the GT-R... just like the 23 Z is not a 400Z its just the Z. Personally I would rather import an R34 before buying a new GT-R
R-35 is the chassis code I believe.
It is the chassis code...CBA-R35, DBA-R35, 4BA-R35.

Or I guess you can say that the GT-R is like the G-wagon of the supercar world. I mean, it's not a unique case, the Countach was in production for some insane number of years. And at the end of the day - it worked out alright for the G-wagon, so more power to Nissan.

Nah, the R36 can be whatever, i don't care anymore. The magic is gone... The R35 can live on even if we dont get it here in europe. Having a car which is basically unassisted from the 80's have teached me about modern cars and the magic is just gone, sure the electrics and hybrids can be fast but they don't have that.. thing? like they are living.
I know, sounds wierd and probably is. there is just something about it which I can't put into words.

My first opinion on it is that the bad part is remastering this platform of design and car with little upgrades
The good part though is the design is updated and still a Supercar

The official word from Nissan Japan is " the R36 might be released before the end of the decade ".
I think pulling an E-Ray and doing a hybrid makes sense, they can pass the tech and learnings from it to the rest of their future models to spread the cost. But think the issue with that would be the transaxle, which probably doesn't leave room in the rear to mount the electric motors. In the C8 you have the engine and transmission behind the driver, so there's room for the electric motors in the front. In a normal AWD car with the engine and transmission in the front, you'd have room in the rear for the motors.
I just really don't see Nissan developing a completely new chassis and drivetrain for the R36 though, and expect that if one even ever releases, it will be all electric. The "All-new Z" is just a 370Z with an existing Nissan drivetrain in it. They clearly aren't going to spend the money to make a truly all-new GTR

Wish we got the r36 but this face-lift looks good. They toned down the design like honda did with the type r....more of a timeless look.
Its the best looking R35 tbh and these days an ICE, a turbo , a real hand brake, hydraulic rack and maybe a manual is all Im asking for sooo they can do the R35 forever....

R36 won’t happen…I was just at a Nissan dealership in Northern California and they literally had 20+ Pathfinders on lot they can’t even sell under sticker. Nissan can’t afford to make a new luxury super car when they can’t even sell their affordable stuff.

And also Audi abanoned the Inline-5 in late 90s, in the 2000s they just had 5 cyl diesels (and VW tried a VR5 but also had a 2.5l natural aspirated I-5 in the US Jetta (not for Europe)) but it returned for the TT RS and was developed from that Jetta I-5.

to me it just smells like Nissan doesn't have the capital to spend on this car's R&D as it would be really expensive for lower volume sales numbers, so they did a lip stick trick instead. I worry they are in trouble in this post Ghosn era. However I do feel some vehicles have drastically improved like the frontier, pathfinder, and the Z.

The GT-R is a meh, at this point is not really exciting. Nissan is repeating the same thing it did with the 370z, just making minor cosmetic changes and not much after that.
Nissan should have killed it off and focus development of the R36.

Nissan needs to fix its Altima problems before it worries about its GTR problems..
The early GTRs were born purely to win races but now their sole reason for existence is to keep the brand alive. Once a wild animal born to survive in a harsh environment, it is now like a domestic animal with excessive obesity that has lost all the wild instincts. I hate to say this but Nissan really needs to abandon the GTR brand and move on, it already finished its role long ago.
If there's gonna be a R36, I think they should go back to the iconic r34 exterior design. Just a bit updated. 😍

I love it. I loved my R32…. Now have a 370z … but I love the Nissmo variant of the R35 . I feel the R36 if it comes out then it will be hybrid.
I wouldnt doubt the r36 will be a v6 turbo hybrid. To be USA compliant its the only way. I dont think it will be anything special. Fast, but probably be like the NSX. Tons of new and great things, but just cant capture the time.
Miss. But a hit for current owners cause the price for older GTRs will inflate.

@@spukersonmerlosk1661 There is no A40 Mark I supra. There's the A40, A50 and A60 Celica with the XX package being called the celica supra over seas. The supra being it's own car was with the A70 as the Toyota Mark III.
