I think this is the perfect beard cut video. Sophie is a smart young woman that really knows her craft. By cutting less she is optimizing the future of the longer beard. I must have watched this 15-20 times over the last few years and always love it!
What a wonderful girl that loves her job with a great attitude and touch! This really shows when someone truly loves their job. And is a people person how Pleasant and knowledgeable they will be!
Hi John. Sophie did appear on some of the Beardbrand videos that were also shot at the same shop in Soho. Sadly, I live too far away to keep visiting London just for a beard trim.
They are used to having the Beardbrand cameras in there, so they are experienced at presenting. But I agree that it was extremely kind of Sophie to take all that time over an ordinary mortal like me :o)
They certainly set a high standard there. I guess the trick is to find someone near you that you can trust. Unfortunately, 'trial and error' isn't a good approach. One error can set you back months :o)
Yeah, that sounds cool! I don't know if I'm going to go all the way for the yeard though. My plan at the beginning of this beard growth was 6 months. So, once I hit that in a couple of months. I'll assess and go from there. That is so cool that you have the opportunity to go to the cut and grind. Being in Japan where there are so few men with beards there are no shops that cut beards or can give me advice. So, I try to get as much on line.
Yes. But I was tempted to shave the crazy stuff on the side of my neck after a coworker (lady) said I need to trim "that stuff". I was tempted, and it does look wild, but if I do shave it, I'll never know what it could've looked like.
I know just what you mean. I still think that my neck beard looks scruffy, but whilst in growing mode, the advice seems to be to keep all options open. Anyway, well done for 'toughing it out'.
@@iwanevans1404 Sadly, no. I kept this series as a vlog of my year growing the beard. Never expected this much interest. Now that the beard is firmly King George, I have faded back into anonymity. I do have some plans for more content, but probably not much about beards.
I will give the vlog of the beard growth a watch asap. I'm currently 21 and I have a thick full beard. Thou is Blessed by the god. Might give the George V look a go. Or The Captain EJ Smith look
Often read here "but it doesn't look any different" but it appears the barber is looking at the long term outcome for the beard not short term surgery, also like the attention to detail round the mouth an often a quick trim of the ears. Barber's hair is pretty stunning too.
That's pretty much the case. I didn't come away feeling that this was a completed project. Scaffolding is still in place, and the building is only half finished. For me, the advice was at least as important as the trim. Strangely, I don't aspire to long red and black hair, but it does look lovely on the right person :o)
Great beard! Great video! Great information! Thank you for this video. I think most guys would agree that Sophie could trim our beards anytime. Hehe :)
Hi Scott. That sounds like a wise plan. I notice that you are a wind player. I was playing crumhorn with our band yesterday. They started a piece before I was ready. I had to play the whole thing with half my moustache jammed in my mouth. All part of the fun :o)
I've left the cheek area to grow naturally & actually prefer the look. Just pluck a few stray ones! I grew a big beard for as low maintenance as possible😉👍🏻
Hello again ... Earl of Grey Beard :-) Been on my Beard Journey 1 month...really like this Ceorge V look ...also.....we seem to be the same age . Like your Videos...Your beard looks Fantastic. Videos are Entertaining and Informative...Thx.... Michael :-) pip pip Cherio ....
Hi again Michael. I think the King George V is my ultimate favourite. Just for now though, I am making the most of the longer beard. 63 is actually rather a fun age. If it were not for all the aches and creaks, I would be really have a great time :o)
Another excellent update👍🏻 I find that I get a mixture of views & cannot understand why a few are still sort of negative. I get the feeling that some look at me as though I've got three heads on 🤣 A lot of blokes have never tried growing a decent length beard!
Ha ha. I have just had a really smart trim, losing 2-3 inches in length, and my biggest critic still said they couldn't see any difference. It is so frustrating.
Sophie is a bad ass barber just wish I could find a lady or a man here in Georgia that had her passion and skills plus she's beautiful. Awesome advice from her!🤘❤🖤✂️
Tricky one. Often, it's trial and error. I was able to find a good guy up here in Nottingham purely by taking a stab at it. Are they any beard groups in Georgia who can give a recommendation? Last thing you want is to have to travel long distances for a beard trim.
I'm about three months behind your progress. I like knowing I have somewhat of a guide in my journey right ahead of me. Did you have to adjust the way you sleep? The pull on my new beard makes some very sore skin in the morning.
Hi Cory. I didn't have any trouble with soreness, certainly not at night. Just a few periods of discomfort as the moustache lengthened. This may just be down to my age and genetics I do use a boar bristle brush regularly, and apply beard oil (I mix my own) after every shower. Are you using anything to relieve the soreness? Unfortunately, you may just have to wait until it passes off.
After my first trim at the barber at home, I just kept the cheek and neck lines trimmed with a cordless T-trimmer. Even then, I was just keeping tidy what the barber had done for me. Now I cannot see my neck anyway, and Skye recommended that I let the cheek hair grow for now. It's left me with nothing to play with!
I would bet it was really nice to get so many compliments from her. I agree with you about a sharp beard. However I also raised my cheek line to a much higher level that requires much less maintenance. You've got yourself another supporter across the pond and I look forward to future videos!
@ thanks friend. I’ve got a near yeard, and the last person I gave my beard to, ruined it. Cut n grind are expensive and I’d rather give my money to someone like Skye who talks a good talk, and knows what she’s doing 🙏🏽

Sorry Gilbert. I don't think that's going to happen. I think she has some videos of her own at Cut 'n Grind, but regrettably I am unlikely to keep going down to London for a bread trim. Best wishes, Ray
@Earl Greybeard Haha thank you sir. I was watching your video and this crossed my mind. I talked with my female barber and she told me that she prefers clean shaven or light stubbled beard and I was like what the heck?! She works 10+ years with beards and honestly didn't see that coming. Cant wait to see what Sophie have to say about that. 😅
It does seem a trend, at least anecdotally. Beardbrand went out on the streets with a camera, and most young ladies responded that they preferred men with stubble or shorter beards. I am hoping to try asking the girls here in Nottingham what they think. I am sure a psychologist could write a best seller on the subject.
Earl Greybeard I watched that video when Eric talked with ladies and yes most of them told him they prefer stubble. At my University i was doing research how female sees man with a beard and the results were crazy. I got planty answers and most of them did said they like light stubble, but there was pretty solid number of woman who likes full beard. They see us( mens with full beard) as more mature, masculine, healthy, responsible etc. I feel like womens are starting to appriciate guys with beards especially with full beards.
I don’t think this videos are meant to discuss the beauty of the barbers in them. People should be more respectful and limit their opinions to the skills and the job they’re performing.
You are completely right. The point of this was to share my experiences with growing a beard. I didn't know who my barber was going to be until I turned up on the day with my cameraman. Please let's remain friends here though. I would rather this doesn't turn into a big argument, which also is not the point of this channel. Sincere best wishes, E.G.
Ha ha. Take in a camera, and it transforms any barber :o). But seriously, my home barber (in Nottingham) is great, and he still gives me lots of good advice.
I guess that's why. I suppose most prospective lady hairdressers just want to style hair, rather than having to be a beauty queen as well. But what do I know?
She has great insight. She needs her own channel!
I could watch and listen to her all day. She has great technique and really knows her skills.
Barbers always say, "let it grow" but with this barber she explains why? Very encouraging for beard growers with strained patience.
I think this is the perfect beard cut video. Sophie is a smart young woman that really knows her craft. By cutting less she is optimizing the future of the longer beard. I must have watched this 15-20 times over the last few years and always love it!
