    Excellent video - just completed my own battery swap ( would have been a long wait for service appointment). Sorry, but I replaced with a Tesla battery from the service center. Also took opportunity to replace my big HEPA filter.
    Will say my high voltage disconnect was different. Took me a while and a little research, but this one has a red tab you pull out and then lift the black tab and it pulls apart easily. Reconnecting was easy -just push together and hear the click. My message went away after the procedure when the computers recognized the new battery. Very well done.

    Excellent video! I have the exact same S you show here too so your steps were 100% accurate.

    Just so I understand: The "First Responder Loop" is Under the hood and under a few panels.
    So, are the firemen supposed to open the hood and pull all that stuff out when the car is on fire?
    Sounds reasonable

    Be adviced. According to tesla model s official service manual "different type of battery is installed than originally installed, the "12V Battery Type" configuration must be updated. ". I'd like to hear how this battery is long term in extreme cold weather climate ?

    Hi. Thank you for the video. Is it very different to change the battery on a 2013 model?

      No, all the early nose-cone Model S are same process.

    Thanks I was looking at a 2020 model s to replace my old Nissan leaf. Thanks to your video no chance of buying the S. I have replaced 3 leaf 12 volt battery it is easy to jump start the battery basically there when you open the bonnet. What a poor designed car for this and I see why it has to go to a tesla dealer.

    Do you know if Tesla (mobile service) will install one of your 12v batteries for a fee?

    • @OhmmuEnergy
      @OhmmuEnergy  8 місяців тому

      They will not install any 3rd party parts at all.

      They will not , it is not worth 3 times the cost .

    have you seen the 12 volt lithium-based battery in the 2021 S cars?

    • @OhmmuEnergy
      @OhmmuEnergy  3 роки тому +2

      Yeah, its a really small power module, it is more like a power tool battery, small capacity too. But it is a totally different architecture, not something compatible with the older vehicles, it is CANbus connected, similar to any other computer in the car.

    Don't waste your time, Setup a call with Tesla, they will come home and replace the battery in 20min, only $247 including installation and sw update. M3 and MY is cheaper.

    after new bATTERY IS INSTALL DO I HAVE TO POWER CAR BACK UP FROM INSIDE THE CAR DID NOT SEE YOU DO THAT?

    • @OhmmuEnergy
      @OhmmuEnergy  Рік тому +1

      Once you step on the brake it'll power back up. It doesn't need to be done as part of the swap but eventually you will have to do that if you want to drive your car anyways.

      Will I get an error message switching to a lithium battery from a acid for a 2016 model S P100D?

  • @jeremyj6971
    @jeremyj6971 2 роки тому

    Hmm I would like to go to Ohmmu’s lithium battery but for $440 w shipping vs Tesla charging $209 for me w installation and $165 of that for a 2 year acid battery vs the 4 year warranty Ohmmu there is not a compelling reason to use the more efficient Ohmmu. At about a $300 price range the lithium battery could make sense but as it stands now I can swap out cheaper. If yall ever got a gently barely used yall would sell cheap hmu.

    • @nipponichi138
      @nipponichi138 2 роки тому

      Actually, the lithium battery is supposed to last 4x the Tesla acid battery. My original battery lasted 4 years, so I figured with the Ohmmu battery I won't have to install another battery for the life of the car.

      @@nipponichi138Heard because it’s lithium, and based on properties of lithium ion, it suffers degradation and does not retain the same capacity over the years. So, the capacity will not be the same in Year 1 as in Year 16. Therefore, it might be rendered useless much before that time.

    I'm no mechanic but I do light level maintenance. I see the need for safety eye wear but gloves for this light duty work? Too much.

    • @OhmmuEnergy
      @OhmmuEnergy  8 місяців тому

      Depends, if that Lead battery comes out with a crack and acid leaking, you'll be glad for the gloves. Though they can be tedious and of course if you can observe the battery and confirm its "clean" I personally wouldn't wear gloves but for safety's sake we always recommend it regardless.
