09/20 UPDATE: Thanks for all the support! As some of you mentioned below, you can now shop Ruggable on Amazon, by clicking here: amzn.to/3lYiSPg Some of you are saying this is a good way to bypass the sketchy return policy. I haven't tried purchasing this way myself, but let us know if you do! We also FINALLY figured out how to fix the Ruggable curling -- you can watch how we fix it here: ua-cam.com/video/qVt2xl0upn8/v-deo.html

I have two Ruggables. I’ve had zero problem with edges curling. I’m just guessing, but folks who are having trouble with curling edges may be using higher dryer heat because they do take a while to dry. I dry mine on low heat, and they are completely flat. These rugs are a dream for anyone who has pets. I have four big dogs, and both rugs get a lot of traffic. They do not slide, they’re easy to vacuum, they get very clean in the wash, and they’re durable. I have no fraying or any signs of wear, and I’ve washed many times. Hope this helps.

Ours fit in our standard washer and dryer. We did dry them on low heat, though, and they’ve curled like crazy. One of them was so bad that my wife pitched it (after tripping over it for the millionth time). The other one is getting pitched as soon as we receive the different rug we ordered to replace it, since it looks terrible now. We’re chalking this up to an expensive learning experience.

I have 3 medium-sized rugs (kinda big) for 3 years now, and I have a 4 year old German shepherd who plays on one rug 24/7, and it's SUPER durable and easy to clean! I haven't seen any signs of damage, and the fur/hair comes off easy. I wash mine on cool and cool dry. It still comes out damp, so I air dry it. When I used a hotter setting on the edges curled, I hadn't had that issue since I first bought them.

Buy a REAL rug! These are just fabric thrown on the floor. They're a trip hazard and only look good in pictures. There's a reason why there are wool rugs that are hundreds of years old still in use. And ruggable is too expensive.

This is the most honest review from anyone I’ve seen yet. I own 2 Ruggable rugs and the curling is a HUGE issue! They are beautiful no doubt but then they start curling after the first wash! I emailed and asked them about the curling and what to do and never got a response. This company could do so much better. How hard would it be to create a heavy border that can be attached underneath the rug edge via removable snaps? Someone in engineering needs to look into that. I won’t be purchasing anything else from ruggable and that’s sad because their designs are kick ass.

I've had my Ruggable rugs for over a year. I love them. When I saw the issue with the curling up edge I used some simple rug tape to hold down the edges & it works great! The biggest 'con' for me is that I'm a 66 year old senior living alone. Moving furniture to wash them and laying back down again after they are clean is a big challenge for me. I have no family in my area to assist so it's particularly difficult to manage the 8x10 size by myself. It's an all day job for me.

    • @bk522

@@bk522 Yes, I am able to wash both rugs in my washing machine with each rug being a separate load.
Honestly I've only done it a couple of times because it's faster for me to go to the laundromat and be able to use their mega washing machines and wash them together as one load. Although I still dry them separately.

My husband and I made the mistake of buying a 9 x 12 Ruggable rug. At first I really liked it. The rug itself was really pretty and I personally prefer low pile rugs. One problem we had right away was that neither of our vacuum cleaners work on it. We tried several settings, but either the setting just wouldn't suck up the dirt and pet hair or it would suck the rug off of the rug pad. The only thing that works on it is a rubber carpet scrubber- and for a 9 x 12 rug this hard work especially since this was supposed to have been a rug to make our lives easier.
So far, I have washed the rug once. It's a hassle to try to do with one person since the rug itself is pretty heavy, but then it never really dried in the dryer. I ran it through at least five times and it was still VERY damp. Finally my husband and I just put it back on the pad (a big pain in the rear getting it realigned) wet. This was late in the evening since my attempts to dry it had taken the better part of the day and the next morning when we got up the entire house smelled like mildewy towels. The rug did dry over night but after washing, it now feels oily which I do not enjoy. The smell took about three days to dissipate (if you put your nose to the close to the floor it still stinks) and I'm considering rewashing it and laying it out in the sun, but my god the labor and hassle involved makes me dread it. I think these rugs would be great in smaller sizes. I would not recommend the largest size. I would have much rather dealt with the constant steam cleaning like we used to do with our old rugs. This rug has been a nightmare.

I have to say, I love my ruggable rugs! I have a runner on my hardwood and an 8x10 on carpet in my living room. From they day I ordered to the day it was delivered was 2 weeks. I haven’t had any curling and wash mine about once a month with having 3 dogs and a toddler. However, the return fee does suck. I ordered one and decided I didn’t like the pattern. I knew I couldn’t cancel it but I figured I could return it. I never even cut the tape off the box and they still wanted $30+ to ship it back and charged me a restocking fee...when it wasn’t even opened. So I decided to just post it on social media and it sold right away. People don’t like the wait time for shipping so posting a brand new rug for someone to get same day is a great solution to the shipping fee. I would buy these a million times over! They also just came out with a more plush under pad for the rug to give it that plush, squishy feel without having to deal with having a thick high pile rug. Worth the money in my opinion!

I just received my Ruggable Rug. I received it in less than a week after ordering. They do have an upgraded rug pad that makes your rug plush. That is an upgrade so it’s extra but I ordered the rug with the standard pad because I put it in my dining room and needed my chairs to be able to slide easily. So the standard is included in the rug price. That’s all I can think of at the moment to help out with the cons. I love mine!! I did know how long it was going to take to get it though, but maybe thats because I ordered it in the middle of Covid. I probably won't wash it but, maybe 4 times a year unless the cats puke on it because it will be a pain to move all the furniture. If you have animals it is such a great feature that you can wash it. If you want a more cushy feel they do have a cushier pad that you can get. I just bought the regular one. I will be purchasing another rug for my home..a runner for my kitchen in the future.

They are soft and more luxurious and give a more upscale look. I have 3 of the new shag rugs, in my bathrooms and guest room and they are thick and so sturdy.
You should visit their sight and see the new and improved rug covers and pads. I’m obsessed. Thanks for sharing your review!

I have wool oriental rugs and I clean them with a power washer on the patio. It dries in one day in the sun. Works well. They aren't too expensive on erugs and wayfair.

I’ve had 2 ruggable runners for almost 2 years now. There’s slight curling at the corners after I wash them but I just tape them down until the fabric relaxes. After reading the comments I’ll try my steamer to relax the fabric. BUT NOTHING BEATS BEING ABLE TO WASH THEM. Mine are at the entry from the garage and in the kitchen between sink/dishwasher and stove. Being able to wash rugs in those areas is game changer for keeping the house feeling and smelling (I assume) clean. I don’t know what is typical, but I don’t send my other rugs out for cleaning every year. Every other year if I remember. FYI, tripping is a concern in our household both for my husband and my mother when she visits and it’s never been an issue. Actually, I have to pick up my hand-knotted rugs when Mom visits because between their height and the pad beneath them, they are more of a tripping hazard.

T H most indoor rugs can be washed. Look on UA-cam for videos about washing oriental rugs. Of course most people don’t have that kind of equipment but I’ve washed inexpensive area rugs with a hose and a little dish soap and a broom to get surface dirt off. Just wait for a hot day and prop it up on some kind of supports to let it dry. I wanted a Ruggable for our dining room since after holiday dinners there’s all kinds of food on the floor. But after watching this, no way.

I have had my 3 year old 8x10' ruggable in my dining room, which is also the path to my kitchen so it gets a lot of use, and i have never had a problem with edge curling. Once in awhile the corner will flip up, but if I put it back down it goes down completely flat. I haven't washed it yet, but I vacuum regularly. I got some watercolor paint on it and just hand washed that part of the rug and the color came out easily. I also really like that the rugs and pads are USA manufactured. I got my 3x5' rug that I just ordered this week within a few days.

I have 4 dogs and I am searching for new rugs. Saw an add for ruggable, then came across this review. Thank you for an honest, no BS review! So hard to find an honest and non-sponsored review anymore. I would deal with most of the things you mentioned to be able to wash it, but the curling is just not at all something I could overlook for such a high price point. I can already see me tripping on it late at night. Also, I didn't even consider the dry time, so glad you brought it up! I can't even imagine trying to keep my dogs from chewing on that while I was waiting for the rug to dry. :-/ For the cost, it's just not worth it to me.

This is a phenomenal review, & I cannot refute the experiences of others, but I've had a very different experience on some of the Cons in the list.
I have 7 Ruggable rugs, they're on hardwood flooring and I have 2 dogs, 1 cat, & 5 kids. I've had my first rug for about 9 months & I've washed & dried it in my machines multiple times & it still hasn't, & isn't, curling; it's a 5x7 rug & I always wash it according to the recommended settings & dry it on LOW or DELICATE heat in my dryer (it also takes the same amount of time that a full load of delicates would take to dry in my dryer). I also have a 2x5 runner that I've washed many times over the last 3 months & it also hasn't curled at all. I have the standard rug pad under all of my rugs & runners, with the exception of having a premium rug pad (super cushy) under one of my 3x5 rugs (it's very nice underfoot). I love that the velcro-style rug pads are completely waterproof, so when my old lab lost her bladder on one of them it didn't leak through to our hardwood floors, which would have ruined the wood; that alone is a huge plus for our busy family.
5 of my rugs & runners are the low-pile type, & 2 runners are plush rugs; they're very soft & fluffy, & feel amazing underfoot.
I can say that my Bissell hardfloor & rug vacuum/mop doesn't do well on these rugs (sucks them up off of their pads), but our Kirby & robot vacuums are fine on them. I do recommend spot treating these rugs in between washes if the entire rug doesn't need washing, but that's been very easy & successful with a soft rag & dish soap in warm water.
The only con I have run into is that the edging that finishes my oldest rug is a bit frayed on a couple of corners & some threads are a tad snagged, but that's expected with any rug enduring the kind of wear & tear animals & a large family will put a rug through.
Overall, Ruggable rugs are a Godsend for us & have been well worth the investment for my household. Watch their videos, they inform you that the rugs are made to order, how to wash them, & they also have a guide on their website for what size rugs can be washed according to the cubic feet of your washer (& it's a convenient chart showing all washer sizes with the rug sizes they can accommodate).
I hope this helps some people who are on the fence but really need a washable rug. I'm just a customer, & my input is based on my own personal experience with their rugs.

Thank you for making this video! I have been on the fence for awhile. They charge $75 shipping to Hawaii for a small runner which is twice the price of what UPS quoted me. That seemed strange, but the curling is a deal breaker. I would be so upset spending $220 on a runner for it to curl, especially in the kitchen. Thanks again! Great video! I also wanted to add that I appreciate the very little "mouth noises" in the video. It might seem really strange, but for some people who deal with misophonia, its basically impossible to watch video reviews with all the lip smacking and spit noises.

Thank you so much for this video! I am an Interior Designer and one of my clients was inquiring as to what I knew about Ruggable rugs. They bought a cabin in the mountains and she thought the idea of being able to wash the rugs would be appealing to her. I knew NOTHING about these rugs so figured I had better check them out so I could give her an informed answer. Now that I have seen this video I can honestly say.. I would NEVER suggest that anyone waste their money on these things. They are NOT cheaply priced.. and once the edges started rolling up.. at that point they would be going into the trash. I would have to advise anyone against purchasing these rugs. Better to get a rug with a little more substance.. that will NOT curl up. If you get a traditional rug.. you can always have the rug cleaned as necessary. 😊

I have 2 ruggable 15’ runners in my kitchen. Boy, we are so glad to have them considering the number of times we’ve spilled stuff on them. They’re a beautiful design, and they do wash up well. I was a bit worried about fading but they’ve help up after 2 washes. I personally have not had a problem with the curling which leads me to believe it’s happening to some folks due to dryer heat settings. I use low dry settings. I also don’t wash mine every week, just once every 3 months or so. I do wish their long runners were available in a wider option though for my 4 feet clearances between island and perimeter cabinets.
