Dodge Grand Caravan Emergency Key inside Fobik - lishi decode door and cut key

  • Customer recently had a new fobik made by another locksmith but he never cut the emergency key that is stored inside the Fobik remote. Let's pick and decode the door using the Cy24 Lishi and cut a the key for the customer.
The emergency key is used to unlock the driver door if the battery is dead. When the battery is dead the remote unlock feature doesn't work and if you don't have the emergency key you will have to call a locksmith to open the door.
I used the Xhorse Condor Dolphin and Xhorse Key Tool Max to cut the key.

Ha ha, great demo. That little chart with the pick made it easier to understand what you're doing. I'm amazed you have the software decipher and hardware to cut your own keys. Maybe the locksmith couldn't cut the key because the old one was missing, there was nothing to copy. If so he might have offered to go through the extra effort, like you did, and she declined because of higher cost.

Your guess could be correct. We are doing some other repairs on the van and the customer wanted to supply all the fluids for the repair to save some money. At least she brought the correct fluids. Thanks for watching Dave.

alternatively... if you dont have all that fancy locksmith equipment: step 1, forcefully wiggle a flat head screwdriver into key hole. step 2, use a hammer to lightly tap the screwdriver all the way in. step 3, aggressively wiggle screwdriver until the door unlocks. ...now the tricky part is removing the screwdriver. if you have a saw that will cut the screwdriver go ahead and cut it flush with the door. if you dont have a sharp saw no worries, head to your nearest craft store and buy jewels that fit your aesthetic. "bedazzle" the crap out of the handle of the screwdriver for a custom look!.....great video. wear your seatbelt.

I thought your cutting machine was way faster than mine, was pretty jelly for a bit. Thanks for the video, that was much more similar to my current experiences using the Lishi to pick, usually the videos on here they do it flawlessly, thanks again for sharing. I haven't really embraced releasing it and letting it reset to start over. Makes sense, going to start trying that.

I’m still learning the finesse and feel for lock picking. There are some locks that I still cannot pick to save my life including my personal highlander. I figure it gets easier with time.
      Thanks for watching.

Luckily the shop has been behind the investment. It can add up fast. At least you are closer to the key suppliers. If I chose free ground shipping it take me about 10 days to get keys and supplies. I have overnight shipped a few items when I really need them but the shipping cuts into profit. I'm a little nervous to build the van and keep all the tools inside even though we have low crime. I can't imagine some of the areas you travel to.

  • @josemarcoantoniohernandez5512

I think the first cut key it was missplaced into the cutting machine, you just needed to slightly put it ahead trying to get a bette alingment with th e 4th mark, so that, when finished, you didn´t need to take it out in order to turn the cilynder right. The reading, the cuts and the key type were all right.

You may want to make sure it fits in ignition. Sometimes doors are replaced from salvage yard and lock cylinder is not replaced. That happened to me. My emergency key worked in the ignition, but not the door. This may be a push button start, so may not matter. Cool video!

Very informative video. Thank you very much. I recently bought a used 2008 T&C from a private party -- only one key fob and missing the emergency key. The dealer was kind enough to give me the codes, so I'll be able to have a metal key made, but the pin for the electronic key will expire. How can a person find a locksmith who actually knows what he is doing? I don't want to end up like the customer that you described in the video, who paid for keys and only got half the job done.

Most locksmiths that have good ratings or reviews should have all the necessary tools for the job. They will be very thankful that you have the keycode. They should have tools capable of reading the PIN number from the vehicle or have the ability to purchase the PIN number when they are ready to program the Key

Jacket up and jump it at the solenoid. That will not work on a ford but most everything else. Then use your key fob. That doesn't help get an emergency key but it works getting into the car. It beats paying the tow truck driver

We dont cut the blades on these fobiks either unless they want to pay for it. Its an extra 25$ ONLY and 9 out of 10 say sure do the entire thing. Once in a while you get 1 that says nope i just want a fob to start my car. Then they realize they made a mistake later on -> even though we clearly explain the situation they could be left in (this one) and they still say no. Then......They go elsewhere because they cannot admit defeat and then blame the original smith. Its 25$ extra to cut it cmon. We charge 140 total plus tax with blade cut (180 for all in mobile service) or 115 no blade. Id bet my favorite fishing pole she cheap'd out and doesnt want to admit it.

She turned out to be a loon and actually left her other car at the shop running in the parking lot when this vehicle was picked up. Came back for the other car two weeks later when she remember where she left it. 🤦🏼‍♂️
I bet your right and she chose the cheaper route.

Can you use the same lishi for a dodge ram promaster? I can’t find any info on what lishi works for that. We have drivers constantly locking themselves out of their vans so I would love to be able to figure out what one to use so I can do it myself lol

    • @ThePracticalMechanic

the Promasters are typically a High Security side cut key but they make a lishi for them. the SIP22 lishi fits many of the Fiat vehices and promaster from 2014-2017 according to UHS hardware. It may fit the newer ones as well. www.uhs-hardware.com/products/original-lishi-fiat-lancia-iveco-sip22-2-in-1-pick-decoder-tl-ag

Anytime I order keys or supplies I try to purchase a lishi. Depends on the bender at the time. CLK supplies, transponder island, UHS hardware, Midwest keyless, international key supply. I’ve bought from all of them.

Just a rule of thumb, if you don’t know which way to turn to unlock, always turn towards the handle. So a cylinder on the right of the handle would unlock turning left.
