@@benbarbash5473 I do not think that the rules of chivalry apply top a modern war. The weight of numbers is a thing and a few 4.5 gen fighters will not help Russia neither against NATO nor China. And the fact that Russia does not even use them to bully Ukrain speaks volumes...
I find it hilarious how the Russians talk about building a 6th gen fighter when they have not even built a 5th gen fighter yet. The Su-57 is a 4.5th gen fighter if we are generous and rather a 4.25th gen in my opinion. The reality is that the Russians are rather far from building that 5th gen fighter and how the war goes and if the sanctions stay in place or get stricter, it will take a VERY long time for the Russians to build a true 5th gen fighter. The reality is that the US is competing against China when it comes to building better fighters now, and not Russia anymore. The reality is that the newest Gripen would make a total mockery of the Su-57 as well. Russia have dropped so far behind and will drop even further behind because of Putin's stupidity and all the corruption in Russia. Yes, the Russian fighters are still a danger, but VERY far from as dangerous as most think they are.
Takes money to build a 5th generation aircraft, not to mention the technological know-how. How can you possibly build a 5th generation fighter when you have to resource the majority of your components from other countries and sanctions are preventing that. The clock is ticking for Russia, and their end could come at any time, it's sad they regressed back to their old ways, they could have had so much more.

Думаю ему надо вызвать и лучших пилотов НАТО на дуэль на любом самолете - истребителе против Су-57.
Nice presentation. The workmanship and parts fitment on the Russian jets are exceedingly substandard. Probably have Vodka caps rattling around in the airframe 😁
They haven't been able to design or field a proper fighter since they combined the design houses into a single entity. They used to compete -HEAVILY-. down to the component level Lacking this competition, good enough isn't. I appreciate the radar primer.
Wes, my man, it's so refreshing to see and hear Americans that hold to the good old values of democracy, cross Atlantic partnership, realizing that Russia isn't our friend, etc... You know, the old, yesterday's values. Unlike modern views held by lunatics like Musk, Teale, etc.. Views that US should pull their troops from the world and defend the southern border from the "hordes" of immigrants.. Modern views that hold Russia, China and N Korea as our friends while NATO is Europe's defense alliance that USA finances for nothing... I grew up loving America the way it was.. Allied with us in EU, cherishing democracy and being on the right side of history (most of the times).. I know people like you are still a majority in USA but are silenced by the louder and richer minority... Keep it real man...
Anybody supporting Russia in the US should be barred from ever serving in a government position, ever. It's shown itself to be a true terrorist state for years now. No excuses left if you're supporting them in a democratic country.
Sometimes it's better to keep quiet if you have nothing to say. Ignorance is indeed a powerful tool, but to see normal people shamelessly talking for the cameras out of hate is way beyond what I expected from you. But objectivity has become a foreign agent nowadays, unfortunately?
When that Su-57 was doing the nose up crawl it appeared around the mid engine are on the top on the jet was burning the paint off. Smoke was coming right off both engines in that area. It must be quite visible in the IR range from multiple angles. It also absolutely does not have any radar sponge paint.. ie; basic F117 paint job back in the day which is generation more advanced today on US stealth aircraft.
@@Տիգրան-ժ1է that is absolutely not the case and the biggest load of garbage I’ve ever heard.. Polymers help with weight, performance. The coating does not make up for the size and angles of the aircraft which allows for radars to pick it up. The engines are also a problem. It’s unable to super cruise, ie; it can’t go the speed on sound without afterburners making it incredibly bright within the infrared light that AA systems lock on to. Polymers are not radar absorbent in any way.
Remind me, how many SU-57 exist? 12, maybe 14 if you count test aircraft. And we have how many F-35s? Like 630, and we're going to build 1,800. Russia is a paper tiger, but let's keep spending our entire GDP on military contractors.
Entire GDP? Hyperbole. It's less than 4% and that includes pensions and medical care, which most nations don't include. The US needs to rationalise it's contracting process, but they certainly can't afford to compromise on military capability. Try telling Ukraine that Russia are a paper tiger. Tens of thousands of Ukrainians are sacrificing their lives to wear down the Russian arsenal and the West are finding out how foolish their talk of peace dividends and "the end of history" is. New threats are always a possibility and China are not skimping on military spending. It never changes, there are always people who fail to learn the lessons of history and advocate for leaving their nations unprepared for military threats, either naively or maliciously.
Don't forget you're also exporting the F-35, we (Germany) e.g. are buyers since we are obliged to have a carrier aircraft for B61 nuclear bombs and the Tornado is really showing its age.
How many of those F35's are grounded right now? F22 OBOGS killed pilots! I remember the USAF getting their asses kicked in Korea. How many aircraft were lost in Vietnam? The USSR built a space station by themselves. Who was flying the supply missions to the ISS for years? Rocks and glass houses.
Thank you, thank you, thank you! Finally someone addressed the huge thermal signature the Felon and the Chengdu J-20 have in comparison to the F-22 and F-35. In an era of multispectral sensors thermal tracking IS a thing and controling radio reflection and emissions are only one part of the new stealth equation.
@@thekhan1987 No, I think the concensus is that the Su-57 looks good. A lot of people like how the Flanker looks too, although I don't like the humps on their backs and the tailboom. I think what USS-SNAKE-ISLAND was referring to is that the stealth coating has it's own color, I'd guess they don't paint over it to maximize radar absorption.
Let's be honest here... Russia will never be able to create anything better than it already has on any major weapon system. China and Europe probably won't be able to either -- or will do so on extreme time lines it doesn't matter. You simply can't support advances in weapon research when you have non-sustainable birth rates. You simply don't have enough workers to make food, to support workers making basic necessities, to support university, chip manufacturing, etc. Each time your working age demographic shrinks, not only does that mean less workers, those workers now have to support their aging parents and grandparents. You can't make microchips when you have 20% less workers and 50% more people in nursing homes.
@@kenik2023It started in advanced western nations long before other nations. GDP reaching a certain point seems to be a trigger -- Japan, Canada, Australia, Southern Europe, Germany, the Scandinavian countries, etc. are extremely free nations which also have that issue. Even religious countries seem not to be immune to it and even in the US fertility rates vary massively within states. The US is barely even, and that's likely due to being a massive target for immigration. It just happened faster in developing countries since they went through the post-industrial age so rapidly -- often within a couple of generations.

Well, we detected f-35s, at 30km, but their radar cross section looked like noise and was filtered out by the system. Also, by this point, they had already blown us up. To give you some perspective, take a photo with your phone camera and zoom in 10000x. One of those tiny little blurry blobs of pixels might be an f-35 or f-22, who knows... That's what they see, nothing. If you set the sensitivity to the point where it can detect the f-35, it would pick up false f-35s everywhere, every single one of those blurry pixel blobs in your photo would be a potential f-35...
I think the most telling thing about where Russia's aerospace programs are - recent airshows had the Su-57 fly a a pretty impressive show with tight turns, cobra maneuvers, and flat spins. Then the latest F-15 with fly by wire controls and upgraded avionics did an air show with many of the same characteristics. US military contractors put current controls on an airframe designed 50 years ago and proved it was just as capable as something Russia barely can produce today. If Russian aircraft were so great, then their Air Force should have been able to establish dominance over a neighboring country within weeks. it doesn't even take into account how abysmal their pilots and maintainers are at keeping up an oerational tempo or deconflicting airspace to operate more than a handful of craft at a time without crashing into or shooting each other down.
American pilots are saying it's a good fighter. I think you're just being hot band wagon garbage personally. Anything Russian is low hanging fruit right now. Be more creative dude.
What was the incredible interceptor jet Russia made mig 24 or 25? America went ape5h1t and developed the tomcat or strike eagle in retaliation, joke being the migs stats were a lie, so the usa totally over developed their fighter programme, cheers Russia lol

SU57 rcs is 100x larger than the f117 as measured over Ukraine. In 2050 they are saying they might be at parity with where the USA was in 1993. Logarithms don't complicate math; they make large variations in numbers more manageable. Excellent presentation. Subscribed.
in 1949? Just a few years after the end of ww2? When an almost Asian sized dictatorship had a few million veterans and a gazillion tons of very capable military hardware? And when every sane adult knew that a soviet nuke will be ready within a few years tops? Fear was justified. And the topic of this video wasn't even a dream yet. I wonder why you asked a question about a 1949 event under this video.
Get an Air Force radar operator talking planes and RCS, and it’s time to break out the pencils, graph paper, and scientific calculator. Class is in session! 😊
so to be considered a 5th gen fighter its abilities must in include supercruise. mmmm. so does that mean the F-35 is just a 5th gen fighter for those few minutes of supercruise it can manage before the engine shits itself. when you see the surface finish, panel shapes and alignment on the Felon i think my car may have a lower radar signature.
It can supercruise for longer but then stealth coating will be damaged. I think supercruise is overrated anyway, with modern gliding bombs and long range missiles it's not much of an advantage
Russia doesn't have the money to build jet fighters - the USSR could barely afford it. If they had sensibly managed their oil deposits, they would have enough cash to build a nice comfortable middle-class country. Hard to know what they are thinking... Russia has the population of Germany and France, and low GDP
I have been saying this since it was released. The SU-57 in DCS is stupidly OP, and far superior to the actual aeroplane - which only has a propaganda function.
The first major hint that not all was what it seemed with the Su-57 is when it was announced that Ruzzia was building it and making its usual absurd claims.
I know it's just part of the rumour mill, so take it for what it's worth, but I've heard that there are only 7 operational airframes, all prototypes. Also, it's essentially a 4th gen aircraft with a body kit. Almost all of the money for the entire Su57 program was stolen. Same happened with Armata, S400, tyres, ammo, rations, you name it, all pilfered or outright stolen. Lol.
Honestly, that's how we know Russia and have known them since the 60s. They have it all in their mouths and the weapons they actually make - although some of them look nice, are nothing more than a load of crap. I have held a position in the Danish defense where I have worked with air defense. Yes, actually back from when 40 mm Bofors cannons were the real backbone of this defense. And have actually - as perhaps one of the relatively few Danes - tried to lock onto one of their planes, with a Superfledermaus Shooting Radar (Target Designation and TargetDataControl - controlling the cannons). It was much easier to track a MIG-23 (Flogger) than it was to track and lock onto an old Danish Draken. And back then they also claimed that they were far superior to everything NATO had. But I guess that's just a way they use to get more money out of the treasury and into the always infinitely deep private pockets of the generals. Increased appropriations to finance their summer homes and cars - not weapons - God forbid. Long live Russian corruption - as long as it lives healthy and strong we have nothing to fear.
The only thing the SU57 has going for it is the thrust vectoring which would give it an advantage during close range air to air. Problem with that is that most newer air to air systems are built to be effective outside visual range. So all that fancy flying does nothing when you won't ever be close enough to another aircraft to take advantage of it.
I love their logic of "This war would be over if not for the NATO troops that we're fighting!" and in the next breath, "NATO's too scared* to fight us, they don't stand a chance!" lmao
Dear Mr O'Donnel, loved the radar presentation, so according to you, the F-35 is not a 5th gen fighter for not having supercruise (it did in earlier paper presentations), but the Dassault Rafale and Eurofighter have 5th gen propulsion. Interesting.
The super cruise on the F35 is a somewhat overblown claim as I understand it. Apparently it works once you use the afterburner to get it there. I thought the Su27 and its later derivatives was a fabulous fighter and (like the FA-18) should not be underestimated. The US issue these days is overly expensive equipment that is fine at reduced quantity before war. If a kinetic war does break out though, sooner or later it becomes a quantity and manufacturing race. Russia may be a lost cause but things are less clear with China.
@@druspork7737 the F35 cannot super cruise. What you described is a supersonic dash which is what all fighters that can't super cruise or want to accelerate quickly do.
This fighters absence from ukraine conflict is an elephant in the room. The t90 failed, the alligator failed, the terminator failed, , the russ are good with feild cannons ..
Looks nice and want the XFLY rc model of it,but can imagine all russian hardware is junk - and obsolete rubbish. Still a good looking aircraft and shame if they get destroyed .
The reasons not much SU 57 have been used in the war with the Ukraine is because Russia doesn’t have many This isn’t because Russia can’t build any it’s because there’s problems with the izdeliye 30 and the Air Force doesn’t want to accept any aircraft with the old engines But despite these problems it has still been able to achieve air to air victory against stealth target (the malfunctioning drone still counts)
I would say gen 4 was multi targeting and generation 4.5 was network multi targeting. The F-14 could use its radar to attack 8 targets at once. Network targeting is one craft or person on the ground feeding target information electronically rather than over the radio. That multi targeting and network targeting is important, because it seems the Russians don't have that capability.
I often think these days that the new 'Cold War' is just a myth like the 'Bogeyman under the bed'. Once upon a time many years ago the USSR could put twenty Mig 21s in the air for every single F15 so weight of numbers gave them a chance to even the score. That is obviously no longer the case, the latest Russian combat aircraft can't actually outperform US jets from the 70s as has been consistently demonstrated in the skies over Ukraine. The Russian 5th gen fighters are actually 3rd gen fighters in disguise.
Lesson: US organizations don’t brag (sales brochures are it’s own world of ‘bragging’). Weaker org, such as Russia, NKor and CCP will constantly brag or put on Potemkin style demo. The deeper lesson here: only the uniformed or weak minded or the fragile ego people or lazy people will buy into Potemkin bragging.
By military point of view Simple: Su 57 it's a 4.8 Gen NOT 5th.gen and especially 6gen. The only 5th generation fighter it's the f22a until the tempest and fcas arrival (6th.gen) 🇪🇺🇺🇸🦾 MAX.
The F-22 Raptor, introduced in 1996, represents a remarkable achievement in aerospace engineering. As the world's first operational fifth-generation fighter, it set a high bar for stealth, agility, and multi-role capability. Its design prioritizes unmatched stealth characteristics, advanced avionics, and supercruise capabilities, making it a cornerstone of U.S. air dominance. In contrast, the Russian Su-57 Felon, marketed as a fifth-generation fighter, struggles to match the F-22's performance. The Su-57 has faced persistent issues, including delays, production challenges, and questions about its actual combat readiness. Its design, while innovative in certain aspects, lacks some critical features that define true fifth-generation aircraft Unlike the F-22, the Su-57's engine nozzles are exposed, undermining its stealth profile. This not only increases its radar cross-section but also makes it more vulnerable to infrared detection. Analysts have pointed out that the Su-57 incorporates elements resembling fourth-generation fighters, with stealth appearing as an afterthought rather than a core design principle. The Su-57's development has been hampered by limited production numbers and reliability concerns. Only a handful of operational units exist, compared to the F-22's proven track record in service. The avionics, sensors, and integration of the Su-57 lag behind the F-22, which boasts unparalleled situational awareness and networked combat capabilities. While Russian state media often positions the Su-57 as a rival to the F-22, objective comparisons reveal a significant performance gap. The F-22, with its proven combat effectiveness and advanced engineering, remains a symbol of American technological superiority in aerial warfare.
But the M1 has excelled?. In a shooting war where the other side shoots back we see the M1 is inferior to both leopard and a long way behind challenger with its better gun and armour.
I think SU 57 is and will stay an unfinished good plane unlike the F35 will be and stay a never finished plane. Sometimes you lose time sometimes you lose money. The problem is to know from what poket.

So there is no coating on the Su-57, invisibility is achieved with the help of polymers from which the fuselage is made.

Entire GDP?

Hi Wes ,u got great channel shouts to you from Suomi Finland 🇫🇮
Russian superweapons are so tough, sophisticated and mighty they don't even to mine the materials to build them.😂
There’s likely never going to be a fighter run entirely by machine-learning algorithms & certainly not in the near future.
If it's even stealth why won't they use it to gain an advantage at an actual war? lol
Great informative video!
I think the variations of a logarithmic magnitude are logarithmic not exponencial.
3yrs. Can’t roll over Ukraine.😵
I love their logic of "This war would be over if not for the NATO troops that we're fighting!" and in the next breath, "NATO's too scared* to fight us, they don't stand a chance!" lmao
IF it goes even worse they will announce even more super weapons
Please let’s not insult garbage here
What? These SU-57's are the best!!! They developed "True Stealth" No one's seen or heard from them.
The Rafale can't super cruise either.
@@druspork7737 the F35 cannot super cruise. What you described is a supersonic dash which is what all fighters that can't super cruise or want to accelerate quickly do.

Problem is most of them don't want it either. lol
Looks nice and want the XFLY rc model of it,but can imagine all russian hardware is junk - and obsolete rubbish. Still a good looking aircraft and shame if they get destroyed .
The reasons not much SU 57 have been used in the war with the Ukraine is because Russia doesn’t have many
This isn’t because Russia can’t build any it’s because there’s problems with the izdeliye 30 and the Air Force doesn’t want to accept any aircraft with the old engines
But despite these problems it has still been able to achieve air to air victory against stealth target (the malfunctioning drone still counts)
In the Southern tradition of finding something nice to say, that's a very stylish paint job. Bless their heart!
Just by watching those shinny engines i can say that thing isn't stealth at all
Please note: Fully agree with the context and message here. HOWEVER< F-35 DOES NOT SUPERCRUISE ! Not even close
When you're the best, you don't need to constantly scream at people that you are. Hence all the chest thumping from failing dictatorships.

Its design, while innovative in certain aspects, lacks some critical features that define true fifth-generation aircraft
Unlike the F-22, the Su-57's engine nozzles are exposed, undermining its stealth profile.
Their 5th gen plane is not really 5th gen, and theirs SAMs work better as a ballistic surface to surface missile.
B-2 is 5th generation bomber
But what about the T-14? Now that's a super weapon! Right?
It's super for parades
Actually it even failed at a parade and never seen in its natural habitat unless it was in a showroom.
