    Funny and most importantly REAL.

    From someone who is looking to finally do ‘van life’ full time next year, that is one cool looking van. Love the layout, one which I feel would suit me.
    The only thing that concerns me is the length and parking in the more ‘urban’ places,,,,

    • @johnmandy
      @johnmandy  3 роки тому

      We were worried too but we park it in cities, towns and villages very easily, going shopping is now issues at all, maybe we spend a little longer looking for space to park, but it’s not that often.

    This van has some seriously nice features in it. I'd seen bits of it in diy videos but this is the first time I've watched the full tour. For my first van i've gone with a 2013 Elddis Autoquest 180 (u-shape end lounge) because I wanted a 6 berth to fit my friends in. It has a good amount of cupboards in it but nothing compared to the huge storage options you have! I could see myself with this type of configuration in the future. That shower is really cool.

We do a different type of caravanning where we pick a site and just chill, but your set up is perfect for touring. Where did you get your fans please they would be ideal for our van.

    You really do get some lovely shots with that drone. I really am thinking I want to get the same b2b charger. My van has been in storage so getting more charge out the engine each time I start it up would be good. I start it up every few weeks and run it for 20mins just to top off the batteries a bit but some times I have to run it a fair bit longer to bring them back up and it would be nice not to have to run the engine as long.

    Hi John and Mandy, we’ve got a similar van, met you last summer, just wondering how you deal with water loss whilst driving ?
    I travel with a full water tank, I envisage you do too, as we try to stay away from sites as much as possible, trouble is we arrive at where we are going and the water level is down to about two thirds, I know it’s because of the overflow, and have thought of putting a valve on the pipe to close it whilst on the move, but also realise it will act as an air vent for the tank.......
    Do you have the same problem ?
    Nice to see you’re both well, happy and safe travels.......

    • @johnmandy
      @johnmandy  3 роки тому

      We don’t lose any water while moving around, our tank doesn’t have an overflow, the German vans are designed a bit better in this way.

    • @bobtaylor2278
      @bobtaylor2278 3 роки тому

      You’ve got me wondering now, ours is a Burstner too, same year with the same tank, it’s definitely got an overflow on ours as the water dumps out if you overfill it through a pipe at the top of the tank routed to the underside of the van.
      You’d obviously have noticed if you’d been losing water, looks like I’ll have to investigate further and get the thinking cap on.
      Good luck with your pub stop,
      Regards Bob

      @johnmandy  3 роки тому

    Ho Both. Can you please give me some advice? we have a 120 watt solar panel, 2 x 100 ah agm batteries, we have the sargeant EC155.
    We are looking to go off grid a little this year, 4 - 5 days at a time. Fiona would like her hairdryer, we have a maxxair fan. Would you recommend I add something to the system that would make our off grid easier. I have purchased the Victron MPPT solar bluetooth and was thinking of purchasing the K KRIËGER 2000 Watts Power Inverter, we have about £500 left to spend. I would appreciate your thoughts on this.
    Thank you. Mark

    • @johnmandy
      @johnmandy  3 роки тому

      The best advice I give out to everyone is you need, at least, double the solar watts to the battery ah capacity you have. So in your case that’s at least 400w of solar, with at least a 30 amp solar controller.
      This will give you a fighting chance of keeping your batteries charged in UK weather.

    Is there a reason you went for a conventionally ‘less stealthy’ living option?
    My partner and I are searching for a conversation as we’re staying local to our area continuing our 9-5 jobs, but have you found you attract unwanted attention or anything when staying around your home area?
    This may also be an option if we find we need a little more room.

      There is no stealthy camping, we find we get less problems in a Motorhome that others get it a van conversion.

    Have you ever thought of replacing a roof vent with a max air fan for extra ventilation when cooking.

      We love the fans we have and they work a treat - a Maxx fan would cast too much shade over the solar
