I just got 99 smithing using a lot of foundry. I think like 1500 swords. You can easily make 230k xp an hour here with 14 adamant and 14 mithril bars. I was afking bloods on the side and still making a consistent 230k. It’s also just downright not expensive to do. Helpful tips: You gotta right click on the lava and waterfall and use the faster options than just the normal left click. Runelite can actually switch the options if you shift right click. I kept the faster options on left click. There is timing involved with using the fast heat/cool and slow heat/cool. You can use the fast options at first to save a lot of time and then switch to the slow options once you get close to your target for precision. There’s some strategy behind the bonus click. Firstly you definitely have to use it because it almost always guarantees you will be able to move to the next phase without another round of reheating or cooling. Secondly you don’t have to use it immediately. If you realize that you’re pretty close to the next phase, you can wait and use it at the last second to ensure a big head start on the next phase. Once you run out of rewards you can buy the 15 point double xp shit. I built up enough of this to get me to 99 smithing at blast furnace using gold ore at around 700k an hour. All told including the gold ore boost, this method probably averages out to like 280k an hour from 70-99. Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay less expensive and click intensive than gold ore at the blast furnace the whole way
The complexity of the process is related to the quality of the sword. The optimization is going to come from balancing the quality of the sword with the speed of making the sword. Simpler swords can be made faster. For example, 18 addy + 10 mith gives only slightly less xp compared to an even 14/14 split, but comes with 5 steps in to make the sword compared to 6 steps, which probably saves at least a minute.
For max xp, dumping the bars is actually better. But if you’re purchasing off the GE, you will save a ton of gp buying platebodies vs bars. For example, 50k gp for 4 runite bars vs 38.7k for rune platebody. Since you need 28 bars, you’re saving 79.1k per sword created, if you were making them out of all rune (don’t do that, mix addy + rune for best xp).
It really depends. If you're grinding smithing and your bottleneck is at the ore stage, you're reducing the amount of mining you need to do per point of smithing xp but if you're already flush with ore then it's a pretty marginal gain for the added time
Any idea on the other effect of the outfit increasing the speed at giants foundry I’ve seen that it’s meant to add extra completion but have no idea how useful it is and how much it speeds up the process ?
If an ironman wants to make platebodies and then use them here, how many rune and adamant platebodies should one dump into the smelter? If I grab 4 of each, the first will add up to 16 bars, which leaves only 12 for the other (3 platebodies), meaning the ratio will not be 1:1. Does this affect the xp or does it matter in any way? Was thinking about dumping 4x addy and 3x rune. Would that work?
@@YouDropedSomeThing Cool. If I'm looking for xp and I got mith and addy plates, does it matter what ratio I use? Should I use 4 addy 3 mith or 6 addy 1 mith? Edit: Nvm, did the calculations. You want as close to the 50/50 ratio as possible, So for platebodies 4 of the higher tier and 3 of the lower.
@@YouDropedSomeThing So wait.... We're saying that we want to make the ratio =28 bars....but a platebody takes 5 bars..... Been watching your content lately and its been helping out a ton. Notable thing to mention is that you cant break down items that require only 1 bar to make(pickaxes, arrowheads, etc)
@@kylecurness2414 nonsense! UIM LIVE at priffdinas. Why not do some zalcano and then bring your noted bars over to the foundry? Makes sense to me! Even if you got ore you could easily unnote it and work them into bars at the bank there!
I still don't get it. A clan member said that this is profitable and easy to understand. So far I've heard that only steel/mithril alloy is profitable and even then it depends on the market that day and what items you're buying. It seems unnecessarily complicated. I prefer blast furnace because it's always profit all the time and that's easy to follow.
If you buy items of the GE then mithril/adamant it profitable. The giant's foundry strategy page on the wiki has table that will show xp and profit, as well as tables for which items are cheapest (which is almost always battleaxes, warhammers, and chainbodies) Which item to buy might change day to day, but the prices a fairly stable so there are always items that are profitable. The biggest reason to do the giant's foundry is that it is by far the best XP/hour (@ 200k/hour) for a profitable method. It is only beaten by addy platebodies and 3-bar rune items, and even then only by 10k-40k XP/hour. Additionally once you buy all the items from the foundry store, you can spend the remaining points on Kovac's grog which is about 56.5k each. Which makes your GP/hour around 475k. So compared to blast furnace you are making 2 times the xp, at the cost of some of the profits, but you also only need 250k gp as input cost per hour versus the 26 million that it takes to run the blast furnace with rune bars per hour.
As an Ironman that's the plan. As an unrestricted account there's almost no point in using this other than for the outfit for faster anvil Smithing and fashionscape.

The outfit is like a 8-9 hour grind, the XP gains from anvil smithing are decent, it’s far less click intensive than blast furnace.
