I bought the kit and tried to make the repair -- it didn't work. The hardest part is applying the heat to the brass bar thing and pressing the ribbon in place. I cut two corners; first, I didn't have the wrist-grounding thing you're supposed to use when soldering electronic stuff - I jus tried to be careful - then I also didn't have any CRC electronic cleaner - I just used some rubbing alcohol. The place where the ribbon attaches had white residue between the little bars where you have to line everything up.
I guess the very small and very insignificant detail (like using the soldering iron with the T-Tip attachment shown in the video for proper bonding/adhesion) was missed :)
Awesome job Vince!
Thank you. great explanation and video. Thank you again
super gemacht !! +++

.Hello You can get a new one from eBay but then you got to do millage correction. Or you can get old one fixed.
Where did you bought the LCD display?
Good Idea marking on the cardboard where the fasteners go. Hey, checkout my channel if you get a minute. Im trying to build my sub count.
Only suggestion is to wear rubber gloves during new lcd handling to avoid finger prints and hand oils from contamination of electronic components.
What bulb is behind the right lcd screen? I need that bulb's part number

how did you even attempt to do this? yikes!
