How to fix YouTube Not Showing Comments

- Is UA-cam not showing comments? Here is a quick fix.
First, make sure to update the UA-cam app if this is happening on your app.
It could be that restricted mode is turned on which limits what comments you can see.
If you are using an iPhone, you can delete or offload the app and reinstall it.
Your channel setting or video may be set for kids. This will disable comments on the video.
You can also delete chrome cookies and that may solve your issue too.

What's really frustrating is UA-cam does not provide an explanation regarding why a comment is not appearing. Instead it just does nothing. Extremely frustrating.

@@jtzr1371 yes! They've really been hitting it hard recently. My theory is the use of certain words (keywords) that the AI automatically hides. I can only see certain comments in my notifications, but when I click on the comments section that says it has...say 10 comments, there might only be half or less.
There's also the possibility of all the spammer bots getting reported and the comment gets hidden.
I had this issue just a few minutes ago and no matter what I did comments didn't show up. It did that on 3 different accounts and on different devices and different channels/videos. After trying to figure it out for a half hour, the comments just started showing up out of nowhere. I don't know crap about software but it might just be some kind of lag? Try again in 30-60 minutes
Unfortunately, none of these apply to the problem I am facing with YT comments. What I am noticing is that when I scroll down to the comments under the videos, I read the initial comment, but when I click on the replies to that comment, not all show up. For example, it says "View 20 replies" but when I click on that only about 6 replies show up. I know this is not only happening to me because I have heard other people complain about the same issue.

Yep, I am getting the same, even on comments that are responding to me. If i click the user themselves and see their latest posts then I can sometimes see one that doesn’t show if I click directly on the thread.

@Kyle Hill UA-cam employs some of the greatest programmers on Earth. There is no way this bug is accidental or unfixable by them. I'm a programmer myself and after contacting UA-cam about the problem of comments not showing, I did actually get a reply from their representative Charlotte, who - and I'm not kidding here - insisted there was no problem at all and it must be my settings on my browser that was at fault. Whatever is really going on here, I can promise it's not going to change for a long time, at least until UA-cam accepts that there IS a problem of user's comments simply not showing.

The issue for me is that the replies to people's comments get hidden, even when I say to show them. It will say "4 replies" but then there's only one reply visible. Not always, but it's happening more and more.

You forgot the one that causes 99% of the issues with "my comments don't appear on other people's videos". Namely, *THEY* have the video set to "hold comments for review". Solution: nothing can be done by you

Life saver!!! For me it was definitely the whole "children content" thing, which is absolutely ridiculous seeing as I don't make videos, period. I couldn't see comments on anyone's videos, but it only started this morning. I don't even have children, so I have no idea why YT would feel the need to block a 30+ yr old from reading comments. UA-cam are pleased to have you equate gaining knowledge or participating in conversation with being a pederast. Their specific mission is to destroy reality perception. Their loyalty is to the govt. of the United States, governance of your will is an efficiency subset to this. This was in the works in the law but began of course in earnest 21 years ago.

Thanks a lot I don't remember turning anything off on my UA-cam settings but whenever I went to UA-cam in settings on my phone camera microphone and network were all turned off. I turned those on and it worked I closed the UA-cam tab on my computer and it worked this was really helpful! You have earned a sub 👍

So I see you did this 2 years ago. I just went live and had a ton of comments during the live but I don' see them now. I did make those changes you suggested in the beginning of this video. Can you suggest anything else?
Al my vids (shorts) are set for not made for kids and all my settings that you mentioned are correct. When I upload a vid, the comments will be on, but after a short while they get turned off. I didn’t turn them off myself, nor mess with the videos settings after uploading it. I don’t know why this happens, and I have to manually turn them on several times for the comments to remain on.
Also, when the comments get turned off (both automatically or because I set it that way), the video remixing is no longer available so people can’t clip it, collab with it, green screen it etc. There is no way to turn these back on.
Does anyone know how to fix this? I haven’t been able to find anything that has worked.

It's even more annoying when it says X number of comments, and you can't see them all, but several others have replied to users whose comments aren't even visible to you.

My issue is a little different. I don't know how or why, but on my videos, sometimes it will tell me that I have a comment, allow me to read the comment in the notifications bell, but then the comment doesn't show up under my video. It will say the amount of comments, but not show it. And this is only for some comments. They don't have bad words or anything in them. Just regular stuff. I have all comments enabled too.

i cant find the comments people posted on my home profile page, some comments were over 10 years old and they are all gone, and there's nothing there for anyone to post a comment. can this option be brought back?

I've noticed on certain videos that it will say for example 4 comments and when you click on the comments to read them that only 1 will show or even none will show.
Now this is telling me that even when the comments go up to let's say 645 that you will not actually see 645. So in effect some people are having their comments shadow banned.

I assumed my account was Gulag'd by UA-cam, and that each post was being run thru an auto-bot-algo to see if it contravenes tos. [I've had a few warnings about tos violations.]
I occasionally will get a notification in the UT app but I can't reply to it and iI can't find it in YT Studio on my laptop. Any idea what the cause of that is?
My issue is that I’ll get a notification about a comment and then when I click on the comment to reply or hit a heart it won’t be there. I’m certain the person hasn’t deleted the comment. It just won’t be there for me to respond.

I don't post videos. My issue is with the comments I post on other people's videos. I don't think viewers can see my posts (?) because I get zero upvotes or replies to my comments, when other people's replies are getting upvotes. I can see my comments usually, but they are the lone ones with "no action on". A few other times my comments seem to disappear, but that isn't often. I used to engage in conversation with all sorts of people who would upvote my comments and have tons of replies. Now I get zero notifications (the bell) of replies combined with zero upvotes. I went into settings, and I have everything turned on. What is the issue?

Well I have an issue where comments are being made as shown in my email account. Clearly there is comments being created somewhere but they do not show up in the youtube video comments on a desktop browser or mobile or anything. They are not being held for review or anywhere. They just don't show up. This is so convoluted the way it works, it should not be this difficult to use. That's kind of the whole point in all of this. Views and comments. I did check the settings you mentioned and it makes no difference.

@@p1nkun1k0rn9 I've been a programmer my whole adult life and after weeks of trying to identify what the cause of this is, all I've discovered is it's not the user's fault, it's not because you've been flagged as a spammer, it's not an issue with your browser. It's quite simply a screw-up by UA-cam's programmers. Your suggestion of sending feedback is the only thing that is likely to get them to fix it.
Well this stranger problem for me. I am able to see my comments on a video, but when I go comment on a community post. My comment just disappears every 20 seconds on this main account. Plus it says comment added and it then disappears.
We all know about general comments not being seen but whats important is that my comments are being personally discriminated against by YT because they are more honest and blunt than other sheople living by yts community standards.

Why do I get a notification saying a friend has replied to a comment but when I go to the actual video page, I can not see their comment? it is very frustrating and so far no one has given me an answer or replied.
I have another strange issue: when i go in the comments section of a video, youtube will show me only recent comments, even if i'm on the setting "show popular", and that is so annoying, i can't discuss about the topics on the video because yt won't show me popular comments, but instead it order them in time, and i have to manually scroll all of them to find something interesting.

Thanks for making this video. I went through all five of those steps and everything was set correctly, as per your video. My trouble is that, on my desktop, when I go to my channel I see that there are comments on my videos. But when I click in to read the comments and communicate with my audience, it says there are no comments. This only happens on some of the videos, while on others I click and see the number of comments the menu says should be there. Any ideas?

Possible solution for those who tried everything and couldn't find a solution, please read. I had the same problem, my comments all the sudden stopped showing, like I put a comment on a video I can see it, but my friends can't. The comment was visible for my eyes only and when I check again, it is gone. Same with live videos, comments are visible to my eyes only. So I thought I maybe wrote something silly in the past that youtube decided to block me now from commenting and I remained a year like that, until I discovered this strange reason. It was actually because I was using a specific phone. Yes, this account I'm. Writing from now from some reason doesn't show comments when done that phone. So now I'm using a different phone but dame account. It is unexplained why UA-cam works on one but not the other. It doesn't make sense, but I hope this solve your problem
It's really a hit and miss. While I only watch UA-cam on my Windows laptop (never in a mobile app), I tried posting with the same account from a different computer but some of my comments were still getting deleted randomly. I never spam or post anything political, in fact I was posting on some boring computer programming video. Turned out that YT deletes messages with the words GO and TO next to each other. Presumably considered a common phrase used by spammers. lol Crazy isn't it?!

I got notifications of comments on YT studio app and I see 2 people has commented there but it shows in YT studio notifications but not under my actual video on UA-cam. Hello. None of these 5 solutions you offered rectified my issue. The issue is that on my desktop, UA-cam videos appear just fine but the suggestions and the comments are like, invisible. There's a space for them and there's even the blue "View xx replies" but when I press on it, it looks like they're all loading but nothing appears. I tried clearing my chache and cookies but the issue persists. This happens only on my Google profile but on other profiles on the same PC, they appear normally. Idek what I should do anymore. If you know of anything that could help me, please go ahead and suggest it, it'd be deeply appreciated. Thanks.
This is what I'm experiencing. None of the stuff about ones own channel in this video applies to me because I don't run a channel. None of that mobile stuff in this video applies to me since I use a laptop to read the YT comments. I just don''t seem to be able to see all the replies that are supposedly there. Pushing the blue "View reply" often gives me nothing but a blue "Hide reply" and no replies. I also cleared my cookies and cache and nothing changed. Yet if someone replies to one of my comments it appears in my notifications. Gotta wonder if all of them do though now.
@@ice4fox2 Hey! I found a solution to my problem, I'd like to share it with you maybe it'll be resolved! I discovered that I had a chrome extension that was causing this situation. I disabled it and everything's alright for me now. If you have recently enabled an extension or have an extension that blocks sites, videos or adds try disabling them! Hope you get the issue resolved soon.

When I write a long comment (eg 20 lines), I read through it after posting, and if it has error in it, I edit it. Then I continue reading the rest of it, and if I come across another error and edit it a second time and save it. Everything looks OK, but I get a message in red at the bottom of the comment saying that it wasn't saved. At this point, the only thing I can do is to cancel it - and it's gone! The only thing is to re-write it, so now, every long comment I make, I do in an editor first so that if I lose it, I have a backup copy, and can copy/paste it again.
I think this only happens after the second edit, but there have been occasions when I have replied to somebody, then noticed after a few days that my reply is no longer there, and I think I only edited it once, or possibly not at all.
i think disappearing comments problems are multifaceted and i defo believe editing is one thing that can make the platform twitchy. Either that or the process simply shows that a comment failed to post. i lean towards "editing definitely makes it twitchy". Other factors - number of posts made in a given timeframe, settings of individual channels, bad faith flagging that sends the AI censor barking up the wrong tree, and links even for YT videos, even if they successfully post, as well as cutting/copying and pasting in the text box. If only the YT archive wasn't so incredible. I don't think the platform can handle billions of users without things going wrong, realistically.

I am running multiple issues that I find concerning. One being this issue posted here with the disappearing comment. I ended up using the same solution of copying any message I write, and double checking to make sure my comments actually post and dont get eaten.
Then theres the issue of comments that are simply there, but youtube hides them.
at first i thought people were just getting banned or censored like crazy,... but some messages that reach my notification feed dont show when I try to open them on the youtube page it is on. They simply arn't there(which also limits my ability to respond)
And because of what I can see from the feed, I know theres nothing wrong with them.
Yet at the same time,... for peoples whose comments show, their comments ALWAYS show... and for the ones that arnt showing, I cant ever see them. Like UA-cam is trying to separate us. I should be seeing everything according to my settings tho. And they must be seeing me, to make the replies.
And you know more people than even that are there due to the "show hide 20/odd comments" only showing freaking like 10 people or less. Half or so of whatever it says.
Like, what the hell youtube?
occasionally, one more lengthy comment chains... it will look like people are talking to others who are not there. And there will be like 10 comments or so missing, that people are replying to, so you know they are there... somewhere.
Then suddenly at like the ass end of the chain, that persons there and they have a few comments finally showing.
I can hop on any video at all, and find these issues within seconds. It's ridiculous.
@@MrMeow-iq7kq Exactly the same here, my friend. I was having a conversation earlier and there were 12 comments - now when I go back to the video to continue the conversation, there are only 9 comments.

This was informative, but I'm not able to comment only on other people's comments in the shorts only. I found a tip about using the tab button, but when doing that I have to pause the video. I don't use the app, I use the browser. Previously from someone else's video I follow instructions to clear the cache data and I checked the "Restricted Mode" which was and still off, yet I still can't see comment where I can add a comment, just seeing other people's comments. I don't know why. If this reaches the creator or someone else I would appreciate it. Thank you.
None of these helped. I have comment replies and when I click the down arrow, the only thing that changes is the direction of the arrow, it does not display any comment even though it states "1 reply."
So if none of the above is my problem.. and I've opened on phone app, laptop, Chrome and Safari browser, and it doesn't show the two comments I received an email for the past 3 days, what can it be then? Help please! My email confirms comments were made, but even clicking from email still only takes me to comments as recent as a week ago. It won't show my 10/15 and 10/16 comments :(

The problem I'm having is that while my initial comments are visible to everyone, my replies are only visible to me when I'm logged in; when I log out, the reply is nowhere to be seen. I've tried replying to comments from other accounts and still have the same issue.

I'm sure you've noticed that when you make any comment on UA-cam now, it immediately will get responses as it should but a few days later, it gets no response whatsoever. That's because nobody can see your comment anymore except you.
Well on a youtube short, if a reply to a comment is long it will go off screen so I need a way to turn the short into a video or make it multiple lines. Please help it annoying

i replyed to a comment on my own video, it covered a kinda touchy subject so i thought it was held for review i checked and there was nothing, and a while ago i had this glitch where not every comment held for review showed on the app and i had to check the site i checked and it was still not held for review, i saw it send but then it just dissapeared 2 seconds later

i got another problem, when i do a lengthy comment on someones elses video, i do see the comment on my end, but i dont get any like or dislikes or answers to my comment.
once i start the same video in a private window, the comment isnt there, so my comment is shadow banned.

I really appreciate the video but unfortunately none of the steps fixed my issue. I can see/have comments on videos but there are several times I get a notification of a comment and the comments don't show up for me to respond to. I have nothing restricted, all comments allowed, nothing is being held for review- I checked. I cleared my cache/cookies, tried other browsers, uninstalled and reinstalled the app. Nothing works for the few comments that get made that don't come through.

The issue is with any comment that contains a link is hidden but I keep getting notifications about these comments and are included in the total number of comments, but I have no way of seeing them and reviewing them. It was a spam comment with a link, which I was able to 'hide' from the bell/notifications drop down, but I cannot see the comment ON my channel (it's the first/only comment right now), so I'd like to remove it, but I can't access it below the video. It just says '1 comment'. I've tried toggling between 'most recent' or 'top comment', and it still doesn't show up so I can delete it directly. Any intel on how to see it and delete it? Thanks!

Hi there! This issue emerged yesterday ( 23rd of April 2024) after I uploaded video about aircraft accident near Prague. It lasted for a few hours till i changed comment conditions. And it seems to be OK now. But it seems its a glitch within UA-cam architecture or how to call it. Many comments on other forums says it could be some of type of a cenzorship but I dont think so. But what if most comments are fine and just a few comments are showing up in notifications and then being deleted by YT?
@Moments with Vanessa I've since learned that a lot of people have been. I think it has seemed better lately, for me anyway. Other than for about 1 hour Thursday night, no one could comment at all. Maybe they fixed it? Have you seen any issues since then? I haven't. Maybe it's fixed. 🤞
@Moments with Vanessa I'm not sure what you mean, once the comments were deleted they never came back unless the person tried again. Sometimes it took people four times before their comments stuck.
Hi - Great stuff - I've checked all this. But still got a weird problem. Using Chrome on a PC, not mobile. YT sends email notifications when someone posts a comment on one of my videos. All Comments are turned on and one video has lots of comments. However, I currently have 2 email notifications of comments which have not appeared in the Comments section. Users not banned and no links in one comment but setting sset to allow links anyway. Odd. Any ideas? Thank you.

some of my comments are not showing up for instant I HAVE the comment section it's just showing for example I have 8 comments where it shows me i have comments but i only see 1 or if i reply to a comment i come back the comment is gone so i don't know what causes that
There is another scenario you didn't mention. sometimes the comment counter indicates there is a comment but you cant see it, Click the "sort by" tab and switch it to the other method from what is your default [usually it would be the first option top comments] choose "newest first"

I just started a new channel and I received a comment, I went to replied back and noticed it wasn’t there. I thought it might of been deleted but when I commented myself on my own video it didn’t show up… I have all comments enabled but it still isn’t working… I don’t know if there is a fix for this. It tells me there is 4 comments with a empty comment section.

Same for me, I received a comment on my own video and had the notification on my phone and as well on browser showing the comment, but when I click on to the video, the comment section shows "1 Comment" but no actual comment, I have tried different browsers, clearing cookies and cache and it still won't show up, and also I checked my UA-cam studio and there are no comments held for review.

Sometimes the comment section appears blank and if I unsubscribe to the channel and then subscribe again then the comment section reappears with all the comments visible , but the comments number appears as 0 comments , why?
Didn't work. Still not showing a comment on one of my videos even though it says someone commented. I am wondering if youtube blocked the comment because the notice said it was a web link. I don't have it set to review or anything, but the look of the address could be a virus or spyware link. I don't know if they do that but it would explain why nothing is working to view the comment, review the comment, or see it on another device or account. (Yes I looked through my friends account and he couldn't see it either.) The reason I wanted access was to remove it if it is a link, but I can't view it or manage the comments.

I've been a programmer since I was 14 and I'm now over 50. You cannot fix this issue and videos like this are just wasting your time. Only UA-cam can fix this problem. It's not a virus, it's not an error in your account - it's a programming bug that only UA-cam can fix themselves.
@@TonyEnglandUK you seem like the guy to ask, might this be a filter on youtubes end that is trying to filter out "hate" or "other think" , like a shadow ban on unwanted comments that allows undesirable commenter to use the app and comment without signaling to the commenter that they are in the black, so to speak.
For me its been around a few weeks that i will look or comment on something but it will say like 6 replys but i only see 4.

Can someone help me out? I can see comments, but on my laptop (using Chrome), I can only see the first line of the description. There's no option to "show more," so I can't see the rest of the description box under vids.

The most annoying thing was when I went to settings my restricted mode was off and at this point I had already tried about all the methods, so then I had to go back to restricted mode again to turn it on then off and that’s when it worked

I seem to not be able to see certain comments in the comment section replies. For instance, a comment will have ‘10 replies’ but I’ll only see 6-7. When I go to my other account, I can see them all. Why does this only happen on one account? I don’t have any restrictions on whatsoever…
It’s doing the same for me, even when I’m signed out of UA-cam, some replies are still being hidden in comment threads.

I can comment on a live UA-cam video and it shows but say a error has occurred. The comment stays and I have to backspace to erase it if I want to make another comment? Any idea is greatly appreciated.
The problem for me is that, there is no comment tab on most videos. Like I can't comment while others can. How do I fix this?
Replies to original comments get deleted or not showing on my device.
Under an original comments, it says for example "10 replies". But when I click on it, it shows eg only 2 replies.
Most of the times there are clear signs that there were conversation between repliers . For example 1 or 2 replies that do show up, are directed toward someone whose comment does not show up.
I would say about %90 of the replies to any original comment have been disappeared.
Does anyone have the same problem?
I have came across someone who claimed that his post is still up, makes me wonder if there is more to this.

Sometimes I see comments, and sometimes not. So, doesn’t that mean it’s not a Settings problem?
I also seem to notice this in videos that are politically controversial.
BUT not always. S9metimes a perfectly non-controversial video will “ Comments have moved” or “Comments are disabled.

I've been a programmer for 30 years and this has frustrated me more than anything I've ever worked with. Even tonight, I posted a comment on a wingsuit video about how beautiful Switzerland was. It vanished as soon as I sent it. An hour later, I went on a talk-show confrontations video and as I scrolled through the comments about Wendy Williams, Dick Cavett, and David Letterman, I see *Tony England:* Switzerland is beautiful.
This whole comments mess-up isn't a "settings" issue, or a content issue. It's Google/UA-cam programmers messing up and not having the guts to step forward and admit it.

When I search for a particular video, it will show comments...but when I first go into UA-cam, if I click on a video I am interested in, there's no comments attached to the video. How do you get comments on all videos?

For some reason I cannot reply to comments, I can comment, but I cannot reply. I cannot comment on a comment, I can just make a comment. Does someone know why this is? It does not matter what device I'm on, I've tried lookig up why it is happening, but nothing really suits my perticular predicament, never the less I've followed the advice given and nothing has worked. Note that if you do reply I cannot reply to you, however I can only edit my comment to add an response.

NOT HELPFUL. Sooo often, UA-cam shows that a given comment has "X" number of replies, but when you click on the replies, it only shows a fraction of that number. WHY?? How can I access the remaining comments?? And how can I ensure that my comments won't be hidden??
I have the same issue and that's the reason I clicked on this video and this video in not addressing any of that at all !!

Most of my vids lost all older comments. Way to go UA-cam, making it easier for me to not care. Turning youtube to cable tv.
Just another way to screw us over after taking away monetization, then showing ads on our crap after saying we couldnt be mentized. Basically, we're slaves.
When UA-cam introduced Shorts I get them as Vertical videos in the middle of my PC screen with no way to comment. Is that just they way Shorts work? I find it very frustrating.
My problem is different, first why are comments are now showing an email address, and why the email address not mine?
