Let's go grocery shopping! In this video, I take you along to two different grocery stores as I do all of the shopping we need to do for Shabbat this week. We typically will go to these two stores each week as we prepare for Shabbat to get the ingredients we need for our Shabbat meals. After each trip, I will go through and show you each item that I purchased and tell you what I will be doing with it. Check out the recipes below! And of course, I give you the grand total so you can get an idea of the cost of a Shabbat for a large family who loves to host guests for our very special Shabbat holiday each week as Orthodox Jews.

Don't you know I jumped on that Big Jewish Ideas channel! I am not Jewish, but I am loving learning all I can from reputable sources. Thank you so much! And Baby Firefly is just adorable! He sure loves his mama!
Enjoy it!!!
You do so well speaking into the camera! I feel like I'm leaning against the counter in your kitchen while you show me all that you bought! It's such a pleasure when you share your life with us! Thank you and God Bless you all!!!
Oh thank you! Your comment made my day!
Grocery hauls are my favourite videos to watch! I love snooping on what people eat.
Yay! So glad I made one of your fav videos!
Im a reform Jew, but my father raised me consevative and we kept kosher. Those fruit wraps really took me back! My dad would get those as a treat for me too! My favorite is the cherry or raspberry! Gosh that makes me feel nostalgic! I would mash it up into a big ball and take chunks out of it lol
So fun! Thanks for sharing the memory :)
Oh my goodness how I enjoy your channel! My husband and I keep a Christian Sabbath and I learned so much from you! Thank you for your kind, gentle, and super uplifting spirit! Your channel is a true blessing❤
Thank you for your kind words!
Going to the grocery store. Family of four. Dad, mom, 2 boys. Started to be once a week. Then I had the habit of dropping kids off at school, heading to a small family owned market everyday. I became friends with everyone. Because it was so small, I was able to teach my boys that when I said no, it was no. If you acted up, I left my cart with the owner, promising to return. They were then returned home, I returned to finish shopping. My oldest was promised a job. The day is turned 16. He learned so much and I learned he had so much compassion for the elderly. He often drove home those who walked to the store late at night. I love you videos, please keep it up.
That sounds lovely! Thank you for sharing and for your kind words :)
I was listening to your video as I was doing a cross-country road trip and my GPS kept talking and interrupting you. I finally got so mad at it. I told her to shut up and it continue talking.😂
🤣🤣🤣 I’m picturing this and giggling 🤭
Love your videos ❤
Depending on the time of year and weather... I might go to as many as 3 or 4 different markets to get the items I need/eant. This time of year (summer) I get quite a few things at the local farm. I can get produce literally fresh picked in their fields and handed to me 😊 So blessed!
That is so amazing you can get things from a local farm!
@jaroffireflies it is indeed! Just finished rhubarb, strawberries will be done shortly, asparagus is in full at the moment 😋 fresh pies&pastries, organic breads😋😋😋 Story Farm, Palenville NY
@@jettabartholomew1118 amazing!!!
Your shopping helpers are the cutest! I do my main shopping haul once a month and it include up to 5 grocery stores, but usually is only 3. I am a comparison shopper and scour the grocery adds for the best prices. We have 2 refrigerators and 3freezers and a large pantry so space to buy in bulk is not an issue. If I need to pick up something I forgot or ran out of I have usually go to 1 specific store. I don’t necessarily like having to go to so many stores, but the savings is worth it and it necessary with food prices these days.
Have a wonderful week and blessed Shabbat!
Wow! That is some great planning on your part! I am impressed!
@@jaroffireflies thanks!
@@shawndavis824 you’re so welcome 💜
@@jaroffireflies it is much easier to do now that there are no kiddos in the house. I wasn’t that good at it when I had my kids or when the grandchildren were here daily.

Baby Firefly is growing up! Love hearing his voice!
Thank you for sharing your day with us!😊🇨🇦
My pleasure! Thank you for being here!
Your oldest son is so tall. He is getting taller by the minute. How old is he now. You have a beautiful family. God bless you and your family.
Thank you so much 🤗
We used to let the kids pick their special cereal when we went on holiday. A good idea to make the holiday more special.
Love that you guys did that too!
Thanks for taking us with you during your preps! We go to the store once a week, and a Costco trip once a month or every other month.
Thank you for watching!
I love baby fire flies jammies! Chana, he is just to cute!
It was so much fun going food shopping with you! Thanks for another great video!
Glad you enjoyed! Thank you!
I'm not Jewish but I love watching your videos! 💚 I love learning about different cultures and religions, plus food hauls are some of my fave videos 😍 ❤
I’m so glad you’re here!
SHALOM Dear Sister, its always a joy to be invited into your family life, such good ideas for SHABBAT
Thanks so much for being here!
As always loved the video, thanks for taking us along. I have sticker shock everytime i go grocery shopping, the prices are so high!
So glad you enjoyed! And yes, these prices 😬
Yes we also do Shabbat cereal I first heard of it my Shana Alef year in Israel when staying by relatives and it’s soo smart!
I love Unpacked. I learn so much
Fantastic!
Love how talkative Baby Firefly was! He's growing up so fast! Also I love how enthusiastic you and your family are about cooking! It always makes me smile!
Thank you so much! 😊
Another great video, Chana! I love grocery hauls. My husband is in the military so we go to the commissary (military grocery store) for pantry staples, household products, and a big meat haul about every 8 weeks. In between, I go to Aldi once or twice a week for fresh produce. By the way, your kids are getting so big! I saw your son got something down from the top shelf at the store. Kids grow up so fast!
They really do grow up so fast!!! Does the commissary have fresh produce? I’ve never been on a military base :)
Loved going shopping with you. The kids are getting so big! Baby Firefly is really getting verbal
So glad you enjoyed!
Hi Chana! Such an interesting Shabbat grocery haul! We did the same sugared cereal only for Shabbat for my children also.
We go to the kosher supermarket here around 2x a week, and a regular chain supermarket once a week.
Also, the fruit salad you’re making is one I’ve made often as a first course or a dessert. We call it ambrosia. And we also enjoy the wine you bought at our Shabbat table also.
Baby Firefly is getting so big! This crawling and getting into things stage is fun for him, probably tiring for you, lol, but you have great helpers around!
Be well! ❤
Ambrosia! That’s the name I couldn’t remember! Thank you!
Love your videos Chana!
Thank you so much! ❤❤❤
Cilantro (coriander here) freezes really well. It won't defrost to the leaves you have there but you can freeze it (wrapped in paper) and then just crumble it into your cooking.
Thanks for the tip!
Thank you for being YOU! I am a longtime viewer. Love your content of family values and how to live in this rotating undefined world. Always be respectful and kind.i was born and raised Catholic and have these steadfast values. Your family is growing by leaps and bounds. 🌺

Yay! So glad you enjoyed!
Loved going shopping with you. After hip replacement no driving for 6 weeks !!! So...went shopping with you !!!
Hope you’re recovery goes well!!!
Hi Chana 😊 that was so interesting see all what you bought, the fresh produce looked so good. On your second shop the cherries in the jar sound extra yummy 😋 & you've gotten me thinking I should be eating sauerkraut too 🤔 Can't believe how much the firefly children are growing, especially your eldest he looks so tall. Have a great week, Clare 🥰
Thank you so much 😊
For the sauerkraut, I just eat a little bit each day, I’m not sure normal serving is, but I just feed a couple of scoops with my fork
Loved this video. It was so interesting to see your Shabbat haul. The young ones are growing! And who couldn’t love seeing the baby? Could you please in a video show preparing kugel? I’ve heard of it but have no idea about it’s prep. Thanks for the info about the new channel. Have a great Shabbat celebration with your family and friends. By the way, I think your custom of special cereal and a treat for the children is awesome. It further teaches them how special the day!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you for your kind words! I have a link in the description for the kugel, I’ve made it in older videos. If you have any trouble let me know and I’ll give you the link here 💜
Loved the video. I always like to see what people eat. Love the part about the cereL too. I watch your video while eating my breakfast before going to work. I like how you bought something for yourself. You deserve it! How cute is baby firefly? He is getting so big. Nothing like babies trying out their voice. Would also enjoy your regular shopping day. I love trader joes. They have a an awesome brownie mix there. You add egg and oil. It is too die for! Thank you for sharing your life with us! 😊
Thank you so much Debbie! 💐❤️😊
This was a fun one, I use to shop early Sunday morning every week, but since food is too expensive now, I make a small list twice a week and alternate going to different stores to just pic up the things I need, I definitely spend less. 😊
I also find that going to the store less really helps with the grocery budget. I’ve been meal planning more as well .
Fun video.
Love grocery haul videos.
They are honestly my most favorite to watch. I have been down the past couple of days with my mental health and a sinus infection. Your cheerful disposition and smile always make me smile too! ❤❤
Hang in there! So glad you enjoyed this video ❤️
Hello, try taking some holy basil, it is called Tulsi, from any Indian grocer, also some ginger and garlic. This will just help a bit with infection and if you can, get salt water in your nasal cavity to help as well. I will let you google it, although you might already be doing all those things. I hope you feel better soon. ❤
Ambrosia Salad! My dad always made it for 4th of July Big BBQ when I was a kid. Same ingredients but Dad added sweetened, shredded coconut (not sure if that's kosher). Mom coupled the salad with freshly cut watermelon! Then the fireworks began 🎆! Thank you for bringing back some great summertime memories ❤️
So fun!
Chana My goodness the little fireflies aren't so little anymore! Hmm Your shopping trips made me hungry 🤣
Yum sounds delicious. I like the several salad ideas😊
Thank you 😊
I love how one of your commenters wrote to Baby Firefly. It made me smile. Thanks for sharing how you shop for Shabbat. We only use one grocery store that's near my house. I'm very lazy. Thanks Chana.
Thank you so much for your lovely comment! Hope you have a great day!
i think you spent well! your tjs shop not only had your producs but it had salmon and smoked salmon and wine!
Good trip, good food ideas. Excellent.!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Really love your videos, and I become very excited when you post. I am kinda speechless how expensive it is to buy for just one shabat. I can only imagine how crazy expensive to buy kosher food for an entire month.
I’m so glad you’re enjoying my videos! Yes, kosher food is soooo expensive. And I didn’t even buy meat this week!
You have the best smile. When you smile, I have no choice to smile too!
Oh thank you 😊❤️
So first of all thanks so much for sharing Baby fireflies squealing and giggling and lovely small toddler self. Not bad on the grocery haul costs. So I go to the grocery store as much as 3 times a week. I take my Mom, my sister in law and myself. I am at such a different life place. But ever moment I spend with my 91 yr old Mon is such a gift. And I love being a helper to anyone else. So glad you are all doing well.
Aw thank you for sharing! That’s so wonderful that you get that time with your mom helping her shop!
Always cheers me up seeing your smiling face 🌝
Aw thank you!
Thanks!
Thank you so much!!!
@@jaroffireflies just a little thank you Chana- this is a big commitment of time and effort you put in, and I just found this option to acknowledge all you do! Compared to Cable TV which I ditched 15 years ago, you, Sara (Frum it up) , Sonya (Prep) , Leah (Jew it up) and Frida (Williamsburg tour guide) have all been instrumental in my journey back to my roots, such a deal! PS Leah is “Jew got it”! But we do Jew it up heheheheheh!
Love the dress on u!! And the tichel color soo pretty❤
Thank you Shoshana 💜
2 Stores to shop for us too! Food has gotten so expensive here and I am finding myself looking for good quality as well ... I wish we would have a Trader Joe here in Switzerland, I enjoyed shopping in it when we visited friends in the US. My husband and I can`t wait to dive into the new series, thanks for recommending them. :-) Lots of love and have a great day!
Thank you and enjoy!
Thank you so much for sharing! I really love grocery hauls 🥰🥰
I don’t normally eat cereal myself and mostly as a kid we did get types of porridge (like hot oatmeal), but I do know of several with kids that only give them cereal as a birthday/holiday/vacation treat, or like a dessert in the weekend or special occasions.
I actually bought a Oreo - cereal today, just because if was dairy free, and on sale, and I think I can use them dry as a snack when I want something sweet. I haven’t tried them yet.
Thanks again!
Johanne, Norway 🇳🇴
What a fun snack idea! So glad you enjoyed ❤️ Hope you’re having a lovely day!
Hi Chana! I love grocery shopping by myself, but with children in tow it is not easy! When my daughter was a toddler she would straighten up the grocery store shelves to her satisfaction! 😂 The strawberries are beautiful. I have found them to be sweeter than ever before, this year. I wonder what that is about. As always, Thank you, and have a good week!
Yes I’d love to grocery shop alone but that’ll have to wait lol For now I’m happy with my helpers ❤️
2 grocery stores for us, Lidl in the Netherlands and a little bit closer to home Lidl in Germany 😆😆As a noahide we don't keep kosher altough we skip the pork and buy only animal cruelty free chicken and beef, Thanks for sharing again Chana and little Fireflies is growing fast 🤍💙🤍 much love for you and your lovely family
Thank you for your kind words and for sharing about your grocery stores!
We have Aldi and Lidl in my town. I think Lidl is a nicer shopping experience and their prices are higher. But both have good produce. However, everything is getting so expensive here, even the discount stores like Lidl are almost as high as the name brand!
❤️ that fruit salad!!
Loved hearing Baby Firefly and seeing his little sleepy head 💙 We usually make one trip to Costco every 2 weeks for prescriptions, coffee and Diet Coke. The other store on a less frequent basis is Smart & Final. But the bulk of our shopping is at Vons. (The store brand is also Signature.) We shop on Wednesdays because of the coupons and deals that start on that day. I do a lot of sealing and freezing meat and things for using later. I know we have saved a lot of money by me simply cooking at home and eschewing take out. I don't know if you guys celebrate Father's Day but I'm wishing Mr. Firefly belated happy thoughts. I know he has got to love his kiddos to the moon and back! Please tell us more about tomato pie. 🤔🍅Now I want a tomato sandwich! LOL hugs to you, Chana for always brightening my week 💚
Thank you! I will pass your kind words onto Mr Firefly:) We also do a monthly Costco trip, sometimes more if needed (because diapers lol). Making food at home instead of takeout is definitely a game changer for the budget!
Good morning Chana and Firefly kiddos ❤❤
Good morning Kristin! 🌞💐❤️
Love seeing what you buy for Shabbat! I am not a multi-store shopper most of the time either..... will look into the other channel. Sounds interesting.
Enjoy!
Loved shopping with you and I think that’s a great idea about Shabbat cereal.
I just bought gefilte fish, which I love, for the first time but I haven’t made it yet🙂
I forgot to say that I looked up Tom Thumb markets, but there’s none near me in Southern California🙁
Enjoy the gefelte fish! I really like it too :) We have been serving it more often lol
Howdy Chana! Thanks as always for sharing with us a new snapshot of your daily routine along with the commentaries of Mr Baby Fireflies... You eldest indeed is growing up so fast. Regarding grocery my hubby takes care of the weekly refill and I handle the kosher meat and deli. Here in Austin HEB is the main "go to" store with only 1 store offering a small kosher section but we also have TJ as well as Costco and recently an additional kosher market called the shuk. During our long 3-digit summer we go for cold meals except Friday night which is fish most of the time. Right now, we enjoy nice fish tacos a lot, but salmon teriyaki is also a favorite. Chilled Tabouleh salad is nice in summer (love the taste of the refreshing mint and English cucumber). Chilled cauliflower salad with a nice grain mustard vinaigrette is good to. It goes well with a slice of deli roll. Have a wonderful week!
That’s so wonderful that your husband does the shopping! Me Firefly usually does but wasn’t able to that week. I enjoyed it though :)
Hello beautiful family.
Hello 😊
Hi Chana! I made the mistake of watching your video before I ate dinner. Needless to say, I got so hungry I was tearing through my dinner like a starving bear! Nothing tastes as good as fresh produce! And the fruit had me salivating, cool whip or no cool whip! As always a pleasure to watch and learn......
🤣🤣🤣 I can imagine! I can’t even think about food when I’m hungry 😁
My sister-in-law makes the best kugel! I do eat it as the main meal and dessert!!!So good!
So fun! What kind does she make? Noodle?
I love this channel because you don't flaunt ...I got this and that and have to hide behind make up and nails and pretty sip bottles for your drink. I love that you focus on the important things like rituals that ground us and keep us grounded.
Aw thank you 😊
I laughed when you were talking about the apples as a ‘side dish’. I agree, just go with it! My daughter made lava cakes the other day and there are SO MANY eggs in the recipe. But hey, packed with protein right? Haha. The chocolate and butter are just extra flavor….😂
Protien 🤣🤣🤣 That’s amazing! I love it!!!!!
Great video! I'm going to have to try some of those recipes. They sound delicious. BTW, that green scarf really makes your eyes pop! Peace!
Thank you so much!
Baby Firefly? I am complete agreement with everything you said. I know being in the carseat isn't fun but it keeps you safe which is the most important thing in the world. Plus it's kind of like mission control when they had the space shuttle. Chana, thank you for including us in the grocery trips and menu plans. I do the cereal thing too. Except its because I hate to cook and in the middle of the hot summer having cereal for dinner is one of my favourite things. Have a wonderful week everyone. ❤😃
🤣🤣🤣 I love your comment! The Mission Control makes me think of my older kids who love to pretend they are in a space ship every time we drive 🚀
Boca Tov, it was way cool to go along with you for SHABBOS shopping. I live in a small Jewish community. We can get Kosher meats and such from 1 store. I was kvelling over your selection. SHABBOS cereal is very common in our community also. I sort of do it myself, have protein bars during the week and my favorite SHABBOS treat is cocoa rice Krispies and Cheerios. Turns the milk into chocolate milk...lol.
@@marciaboucher8346 I love that you enjoy Shabbat cereal also! What a treat! I am a bit partial to cocoa pebbles myself 🤣😊
@@jaroffireflies I have a friend that puts chocolate milk over his cereal..lol. I told him that is cheating.
@@marciaboucher8346 🤣🤣🤣 oh my!
I shop at multiple stores to get the best deals, too, or to pick up items I only find at a specific store, like free range raised chicken.
That sounds amazing!!! I met the Archbishop of Canterbury- he sat behind me and I told him my name afterwards as the bishop and dean don’t know it. Also started confirmation classes too - first two done.
As a Dutch person... I go to the grocery store pretty much every day lol, but I go to the one two towns over so that I get my hour of cardio (cycling) in. If I need something quick, I'll go to the supermarket around the corner instead. I could probably plan this out better, and I usually do plan my weeks during the weekend, but it's also a bit of a treat to get something nice in the grocery store. :)
I also thought the edit where you got baby firefly his blueberries was really nice, just as an aside. Hope y'all have a wonderful week!
Thank you for sharing and for your kind words! 💜💜💜
On the green juice - read the back of the bottle and see what’s in it.
Wow, I love horseradish with beets! Haven't had it in years, but my mom is of Polish descent and when I was growing up she would make sausage with potato dumplings for dinner once a month or so. The horseradish with beets was my favorite condiment for the sausage. Have a good week and stay cool; terrible heat around here, eh?
Sounds so delicious! Thank you for sharing that memory! Yes, it’s getting hot 🥵 but that’s ok :) I’m getting outdoors in the evening and early morning so that helps! And yay for the copious amounts of pools in Texas 😂
@@jaroffirefliesIndeed, very true. My partner and I tend to rest in the daylight hours and do much of our work in the morning and evening, or even at night. We're both disabled and overexertion is easy if we're not careful. Gotta do what we gotta do!
@@lightbearer972 absolutely!
I like celery plain, with PB, with sour cream and chive dip and in soup but my favourite is in chicken Waldorf salad. Chopped chicken, celery, apple, walnuts and green grapes or raisins (I prefer raisins) mixed together with some mayonnaise and the juice of half a lemon. So delicious!
That’s my favorite way to make chicken salad too!
I do Meijer pick up once a week for groceries.
Loved the grocery haul Chana! During the “reveal” you are obviously so excited about doing this for your family, and us, and the love really shows! Good self-care for mom as well with the green drink and sauerkraut! Watching you unpack is like that old game “concentration” when you find the extra supplies eventually..three green beans, three bottles of wine, which bag was it in heheheheh! PS on my own health journey and was inspired by your healthy selections except Skinny pop - company founder Bethany Frankel is just so…..I won’t say it! Sorry my bad! Hugs, Michael Albuquerque NM
Thank you for your kind words :) I don’t know anything about skinny pop as a company 🤷🏼♀️ I did later find popcorn from Trader Joe’s made with olive oil so that’s my new go to! It’s delicious!
@@jaroffireflies Olive Oil definitely a good choice!
@@mjc63 yes! I totally agree :)
Sweet little snuggly baby x
Shalom Chana ! I love your shopping videos and your Shabbat setting table dinner videos. I get fat just by looking at all your delicious mouth watering meals ! I was wondering what is the brand of the maraschino cherries you use as I could not read the label. I love to make fruit salad with these but I am looking for the kind without the red dye 40 . I know there are some countries like Switzerland and Norway that ban these because of the red dye . But I dont want to give them up if I can find some ones without it so please let me know. You are super sweet and you are a great example of harmony and kindness with your family and HaShem.
Hello! It was just the store brand I think, but I’m sure they had dye. I’ve never seen them in America without 😔 Thank you so much for your kind words!
Yes, I do the Shabbat cereal😂. It is a life saver. I love Trader Joe but lately I’ve been going to HMart they have some of the best fruit and veggies.
SO glad you have such great choices for produce! And yay for Shabbat cereal!
Good morning my friend! 😊
Good morning!
Shabbat am we do sweet breakfast of yogurt, homemade breakfast cake or muffins and fruit. Hard boiled eggs for the nondairy ppl.
Delicious!
I love that juice! Trader Joe’s is the best. ❤❤
I know its sounds crazy but cilantro in smoothies is so good! I experimented with it a few years ago and now I put it in my smoothies all the time now. Blueberries, banana, peanut butter and cilantro=AMAZING!
Thanks for the tip!
If you have a food dehydrator, you can make an amazing home made fruit roll up using either kosher gelatin or apple pectin. It is so easy and you can make it in bulk and save lots of money!💗💗💗💗. Blessings from Amarillo!
Great idea!
I seen the bag of skinny pop popcorn. I love that.
So good right?
@@jaroffireflies You got that right.
Ambrosia salad!!! I was in a pinch one and didn't have the sour cream or the whip. I used vanilla Greek yogurt instead. I also use frozen sweet cherries (which turns the salad a pretty pastel pink) instead of maraschino cherries.
Yes that’s the name! Frozen cherries sound like a great idea!
Sliced avocado salt n lemon juice yum yum
Yum!
Another great video. I live in Rochester ny and i wish we had a trader joes.😢 .I heard alot of good things about them .Have you ever made a pasta salad for shabbat or during the week. Or a tomato salad with cucumbers and olives and Italian dressing it's so refreshing. As always have a wonderful week and a peaceful shabbat
I have not made those salads but they sound delicious! Since we are mostly gluten free, the gluten free pasta I have found does not keep as well.
It's amusing that the store is named Tom Thumb. Tom Thumb is a character from an old English folklore. It's similar to "Stuart Little" except he's not a mouse. It's funny to me that he'd be the namesake for a grocery store.
To answer the question you asked at the end of the video. I usually go grocery shopping once a week and only go to one store. The exception would be when there's a farmer's market near me (gotta check that out) or if I'm taking advantage of a good sale to do some canning or stocking up my pantry.
The name of the store very much amused me when I first moved to the area as well :) Oh that is cool that you get to go to the Farmers Market!
We call that kind of cereal dessert cereal. The kids were allowed to have a bit after a healthier cereal or oatmeal. My favourite is Captain Crunch!
Dessert cereal! How fun!
We do Shabbat cereal too. Also they get it on Rosh Chodesh and Yom Tovs. Currently showing down on Captain Crunch and Trix lol
Oh I love the idea of doing it for Rosh Chodesh! I need to adopt that too!
I don’t know if you are familiar with Misfit Market, but I get a box from them delivered every Friday. What I can’t get through that, I will either go to the store or have Walmart deliver-whichever has better prices and availability. I wish I could get everything in one place but with additional food allergies aside from gluten and dairy, no one size fits all for me. I have used those gluten free pie crusts! They are great! Will be making your broccoli kugel this weekend (fiancé’s request, as he fell in love with it first time I used your recipe) alongside cornish hens.
That’s so cool! Glad you enjoyed the recipe :)
Hello Chana! We do at least two different grocery stores every week. We have two discount grocery stores that are right in front of each other. We use the Flipp app on my phone to track specials and if something is Missing a SuperC (store 1) usually Maxi (store 2) matches the price announced in the flyer. I do my shopping with my Mom. I live alone, but I don't know how to drive. She drives and I help her with the self-service register. Have a nice week :)
Thanks for sharing!
Have you ever tried doing the tomatoes sliced with thin slices of onion and topped with olive oil salt, pepper, and dried oregano and basil? (It’s extra good with fresh basil too) My family love it in the summer
Sounds great! I really enjoy tomatoes sliced with sliced onions and boiled potato with a little olive oil, salt and pepper. We make it for shabbat sometimes :)
Oooh! I’ve never thought to try it with potatoes. That sounds yummy
I’ve done a tomato cucumber salad with a balsamic vinaigrette and it’s so good!

😮 that’s a lot of shopping. 😂 My husband has always worked at a grocery store so we only shop at that chain but I have never done the shopping. He has always done it after work.
You’re so lucky he does the shopping! I enjoy it, but I love it when Mr Firefly does it instead 😂
Hi great shopping trip. I don't go out for grocery shopping cause I have a very bad back and can't stand too long, my husband does it, he goes to Wal-Mart or Shop rite. Your oldest son is getting so tall! Wow. I know you don't celebrate father's day but I hope it was a quiet day for him. We went to the Jewish Cemetery to visit my husband's father, it was very busy but very calming. Take care see you next time. 🌻
Thank you for your kind words :) We didn’t celebrate Father’s Day but we did go spend time with my parents and I made my dad his favorite cake :) We all got to enjoy that 😊
@@jaroffireflies That's great
I live very close to the grocery store and I have to drive by it to go anywhere. So I go everyday or every other day. I only get two or three things. I am always stocked up though, so I am always thinking of a hurricane situation. I love the fun cereal thing. I do that once a week ...because...why not. And I am an actual adult and I think cereal is fun, but my cereal is just little wheat squares. It would be fun to eat fun cereal I didn't get cereal as a kid.
Thank you for sharing!
Chana, I want your corn salad recipe!!!!!
Very simple! Can of corn, mayonnaise, a little salt and pepper, and fresh dill! Some optional additions are picked and red pepper and canned mushrooms (all chopped)
I alternate between Ralph's amd Amazon Fresh, ( both are literally outside outside of my building. Amazon Fresh is across the street from me amd Ralph's is around the corner in a shopping center , so I just walk to and from whichever one I fell like going to.) For the most part, I find everything I need in both with the exception. Of a one or two small things like Hormel bacon bits, they don't seel them at Ralph's anymore but do @ Amazon Fresh) . I live within two miles of a bunch of Ralph's, Trader Joe's, Sprouts,Whole Foods etc. But most are accessible by bus amd I have a odd Idiocracy about transporting groceries on the bus.
Loved hearing Baby firefly gove his commentary and expressing how much he was enjoying his blueberries 🫐.😊 Your family seems so fun to hang out with just in general.
I didn't know that Tom Thumb had a large Kosher section or a Jewish bakery in the store. I've been in a Tom Thumb when I've visited family friends who live in Dallas, bit only in the section where the in store Wells Fargo is.
That’s so nice to have so many options so close!!!
