Thanks for the great overview of all the lines. Mine just developed a leak within the last couple weeks and then it dumped 2' of snow this morning after i got to work. surprise surprise..... my $400 blazer i resurrected last january didnt go into 4wd. All I had with me was an adjustable wrench and a handful of HVAC zip ties. Found one obvious leak, but it still wouldnt engage the axle. Pulled the battery and squeezed the diaphragm a few times and it sounds like a squeaky toy somewhere in the 60' of vacuum in there. Just zip tied the diaphragm into semi permanent awd for now.
Thank you for the video.
@Shane Klinginsmith thanks for watching and there are more videos in my playlists titled blazer
Thank you again, I have a lot of stuff to check out. Much appreciated ✌️
You said it. These little S-10's are a pain to work on, no matter what your doing. Here it is, May,2022, and I have a 98 GMC Sonoma with 4WD inop. Not even any response from the buttons. And I can see the vacuum line running over the top of the brake booster, down into the left front wheel well is all disintegrated. So probably has more than one problem. First need to find out why the buttons do nothing. Hopefully just a fuse, but that wouldn't be my luck.
@@silverado2500wr450 did you get it fixed
@@dragsterstransmissions yes, needed a shift motor
I subscribed and will keep your helpful videos in my likes thank you much.
Very helpful and yes these S-10 : GMC
Sonoma & Blazers are tight to work on 4
sure but once they are done right & going
the 4x4's are helpful to get you around in
the snow for sure.
@Jimmy Hamm why don't you post a video or two of what you are doing to your 4x4 issue. I see you have a channel but no videos.
I here that GM built the frames put on a motor and put the body over the top ; it
was a pain for me to change a trans. a
couple years ago.I literally had to make two holes in my floor board to get to the trans.
bolts.
Gracias muy bien explicado. Me ayudo mucho ...
I agree, not vacuum actuated GM. give us solenoid activated, NOT pneumatic vacuum actuated.
I got a 99 blazer 4.3 v6 4 dr automatic. 3 switches 4hi,4lo,and 2hi. What were the sizes of the hoses?
5/32"

Yes this really helps out
I really need someone to reply to this comment. I’ve replaced the vacuum switch on the transfer case. I’ve checked all the hoses. The actuator is fine. The only thing I know that’s for sure messed up are the buttons themselves but I can get those to work enough to press them. The actuator is always fully sucked and has the cable pulled at all times yet the front wheels aren’t engaged. And when I press the buttons, all I get is a clicking in the differential and a whole lot of nothing after that. What do I do?
@rpgattack2789 if you have clicking in the front end then first make sure that cable is being pulled far enough to to fully engage front axle. Also you can take cable loose from actuator and manually pull it with vice grips and try it. If it works replace cable. If not check for damaged front axle
I have a 1995 S10 Blazer . It has a manual shifter. Could this be the same issue? Thanks
Do you mean a manual transmission or transfer case?
How far is it supposed to pull the diff cable
@gamesarebest2462
Disconnect cable from actuator diaphragm and pull on it to get an idea how much travel is in the cable
@@dragsterstransmissions it gets pulled as far as it should but my front differential keeps disengaging then re engaging when I come to a stop
Makes a pop sound and I can feel it then it disengaged
@gamesarebest2462 manually pull cable disconnected from vacuum switch under battery and see if it will stay engaged. If not then something is wrong with front axle
@@dragsterstransmissions that’s what I figure because it pulls no vacuum so I have a wire from the cable clamped with the cable pulled and it still kicks out
Any idea what to check if it won't go in LO? 98 Blazer. Goes in and out of 4WD HI and 2WD just fine. But stop vehicle, put it in neutral and hit 4WD LO and the light just blinks. Not sure what activates LO is it through the same actuator motor as HI on the transfer case or are there vacuum lines involved? I'm under the impression that if HI works then the vacuum lines and actuator under the batter box are all just fine.
Actuator/module on transfer case or switch in dash. If your going to keep the vehicle might want to check the condition of the transfer case also.
First remove fill plug on transfer case. If fluid flows out then front seal on transfer case is letting tranny fluid slip by seal and over filling t-case
If no fluid flows out of the fill hole then remove lower drain plug from t-case. Make sure catch pan is clean before draining out. Look for metal in the oil and pan. If metal is found either rebuild transfer case or replace it.
Hope this helps.
Thanks for watching I have other blazer videos in my playlist titled Blazer Repairs. Subscribe to my channel and thanks again
@@dragsterstransmissions thanks for that help
@@dragsterstransmissions These Blazers for 4x4 drive are a pain in the ass if they are not looked after now and then Common is the vaccum hose that enters the driver fender coming off Next is the vaccum switch rusting closed or open Then the control module Then the cable that meets into the axle That triangle plastic gets Aluminum white rust build up And leaves a gap Wide enough to not let the axle engage Or even worse semi engage chewing the gears I have had 3 friends with Blazers/S10/Jimmy's all with some of theses issues that i repaired (backyard expert that bothers to look Before just replacing and hope for the best lol) Ty for the video
Same thing for my 98 blazer. 4 low won't engage. Light blinks couple times and turns off. No problem for 2Hi and 4Hi. Checked for vacuum leaks. Couldn't find any. Frustrating.
@anza westa have someone push the 4lo button while you're underneath at transfer case listening for the electric module engage. If you don't hear anything stRt at the button. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching and subscribing
Did yours have a steel plate underneath?
@Guns Gear &Glory skid plate? Yes
@@dragsterstransmissions I was gonna ask how it bolted to the bottom, but I just figured it out. I was missing the two bolts were the back bolts to the frame crossbar
So my front driveshaft is turning but no front wheels turning. Now what?
need to check your vacuum actuator and vacuum lines
