The Maxtor 7120AT is a great drive with an amazing seektest! I hope some day I'll be able to find one of those at a decent price because it is in my list of drives I would really like to get.
Yeah it took some time, it wasn’t that bad because I like messing with old computer stuff, also I ran the setup from the hard drives rather than a CD (which would be slower). I don’t remember how long it took for the installs, probably about 30 min each or something like that.
could you do windows xp or vista their development cycles are really weird and the only video like this from them is from 6 years ago and it is not even a full build just some of them also love this video and the 95
A few days of Millennium Edition was enough for me before I reverted back to 98. Then as soon as my 3D card released stable drivers, I upgraded to Win2k and never looked back.
This is on real hardware, but I did not use CDs, instead I copied the installation files on each of the hard drives and ran the installation from the drive itself. It is something that could be done on old versions of Windows.
I downloaded and installed all the builds that were availlable on betaarchive at the time of the video (early 2023). Looks like the build 1543 has been uploaded on betaarchive very recently so it wasn't in this video and I have never run this build, so it isn't on a drive. Most of the drives I used for this video have been wiped since anyways.

Nice to see 98 getting some love. More of a ME guy mysrlf but 98 did have the advantage. Of booting to pure dos mode without needing a patch. :)

Were the maxtor drives from the lot that had the Caviar 21600 in it were true or fake maxtor drives
They are "true" ones, a DiamondMax plus 9 and a DiamondMax 10
