I ordered this exact unit, BL-5000SLX. This video is concise, complete and very well presented by Brian. He makes it easy to set up, easy to work and easy to refer back to in case it is needed. Thanks Brian for the time you took to go through it all so we can get right to using this jack.
Glad to see you still get giddy over toys and that you still show your mom! Even more glad she still puts on the smile and says "that's great!" What a nice mom.
Purchased my Quick Jack last month from Home Depo. They had the best price I could find. Also ordered the extra pinch weld blocks and the hangers for the wall. Your video was right on the money for assembly and I didn't need to follow the confusing directions. Hands down best accessory I've ever purchased!
+Andrea Gili Thanks Andrea- I work hard at this, but really it's about you guys. When you all appreciate it and I get the thank you's that's what I'm in it for. The perks just further enable me to do it better. The fact that I can support a family doing what I love like this is just awesome. Thanks for your support!
*i just got my BL 7000 EXT but i wasn't sent all of my connectors and such for connecting everything from the pump to the jacks. i sat for two weeks not being able to finish setting mine up before i finally insisted that they send me the parts or come get this thing, take it back and give me my money back i finally got them to next day air me the rest of what i needed and i should have one of these videos up myself soon though i won't be as pleased with my whole experience. i hate when i tell people what's missing and they either only half listen or want to argue with me about how wrong i am. the first tech support/customer care email got me 1/4 of what i was missing then an arguement ensued about what was missing from the remainder of my kit. once they listened to me finally and sent what i needed all is good now BTW kudos for not raising the jack up all the way without a load on it, even though it's all through the instructions not to do that you would be surprised by the number of people that got these jacks and still raised it all the way up on the first run with the jacks. and we'd all like "a few more inches" but you can get more height if you use the Truck and SUV adapters. I bought those with my 7000 EXT that was also one of the things that bend pak initially left out of my order and i had to call back in to get sent to me*
At the start of the video I wasn't really convinced this tool was worthy but by the end I changed my mind. I really like the fact it is portable. Thanks for sharing the info Brian.
+Ozzstar For the convenience and the money it's pretty tough to beat! Welcome buddy. You can get in the door of the car really easy. The only way to beat it is an in-ground, but then you have high costs, high permanence and lose ground work area. Have you seen Charles the Humble Mechanics videos working at the VW dealership? He works on a single pole in-ground lift with 4 arms. They're ideal for light 2wd cars, but SO expensive to purchase and even more to install.
+briansmobile1 I remember seeing those single pole in ground lifts when I was a kid back in the day, they were popular in many shops. i'm 45yo now. I couldn't imagine the cost to have one of those suckers installed these days!! Keep up the good work, take it easy
Hey, I just wanted to say that this tutorial is one of the best I have ever seen. I watched it probably five times because I was having so much trouble with my QuickJack assembly. The instructions are not very comprehensive and so your video was greatly appreciated. I sure hope that you teach or coach or something because you have a great communication skill. Again I really enjoyed the tutorial and I hope you make many more. Thanks
You may have sold a quickjack to me with this awesome video. I'm impressed you didn't throw a "that's what she said" in there after saying you'd like a few more inches, as well. You showed great restraint. Kudos.
Thanks for the review and the details. I will be buying one later this year. They have done a nice job of improving these units over the past year or so. Great solution for those of us who like to do our own work but don't have the space to go all in on a full lift.
Thanks Brian. You sold me on this. I've wanted something like this for some time now. (Other unites took up to much space) We have a car and minivan I do the maintenance on and this would make it so much faster and easier when doing work on each. That was a nice touch seeing your mom at the end. Great video.
Thanks for the detailed view Brian. I was thrilled to see you post this video since I really wanted to see how the new version looks and works. I am certain that I will be getting this model soon. I was a bit disappointed to learn that this new model BL-5000SLX has a maximum height an inch or two lower than the previous BL-5000XL version. They added the safety cams to the support beams which lowered the maximum height a bit. However, I did some research and learned that QuickJack makes an SUV and Light Truck Adapter set for $220 on their website. These are stackable steel and rubber spacers that look to add either 3" or 6" depending whether you use one or two of the steel spacers. This looks like a great option to address any height issues. I would post the link to the product but UA-cam will not allow a paste in the comment field.
I love mine. There are many times you have to get a car up off all 4 wheels, and aside from installing a dedicated lift in your concrete these things are amazing for that. I have a C5 Vette and getting it up in the air is a breeze compared to other options. If you do any serious or frequent car work, you need these, it's a night and day difference.
Great tutorial bud! I hope when I get mine next week that it goes as smooth as your first time setup. I’m looking at others who had all sorts of leaks and crap, started to give me a bunch of buyers remorse! Your video gives me renowned hope!
I'm so jealous Brian! You have no idea how bad I want to have my own shop and say goodbye to the days of doing auto repair in crappy weather.... sigh. Am I seeing a touch of melanoma on the bum end of your wagon? Perhaps a future video!?
+Brad Nimbus I feel you Brad! I've put years in working outside in Ma Boyle weather. Rex has that cancer- and...YES! 3M sent me some of their good stuff to sample on that. I've actually done a lot of that sort of work. I'm waiting for a little better weather. It's Siberia out there right now!
Can’t wait to setup mine! Thanks for the demo. The only thing I wish you could’ve added was where to add safety support. The book stated don’t go under car without a safety stand.
Awesome video Brian! I have a scissor lift now. It's in the way when you're using it; and it's in the way when you're not using it. These look like the answer for collision repair. Thanks for sharing.
A prime example of a great setup and test video. Thanks, man. I'm really, really tempted to dip into the savings account for a QuickJack. I loathe jacking my car up the traditional way.
I struggled to get my post tensioned slab x-rayed and tested to safely drill the holes for anchors for 2 post lift install in my 9' ceiling garage. Now I'm thinking isn't this option just overall better choice? 1) It seems safer since balancing isn't that critical concern 2) Yeah two post will go much higher but I think it is more comfortable to lay down on the creeper than sit and stressing neck.
Excellent video. I just learned about Quick Jack a couple days ago, and I'm not doing research to decide if I want to buy one. This video was *very* helpful. Thanks for making it!
My Quickjack finally crapped out on me. Basically, it wouldn't go DOWN all the way. The folks at Quickjack HQ tried to help with some suggestions but they eventually gave up at the point we determined one of my air cylinders was leaking. I paid a local hydra fab company to rebuild/replace the seal in one ram for $140 instead of buying a new one from QJ for $200. I've reassembled everything and they still don't go down very well and neither side will hold air pressure. QJ says it takes the weight of a vehicle to lower the lift, but we've all seen demos of the QJ going up and down without weight. I'm afraid to lift my vehicle and test it out because it might not go down and the QJ blocks the jacking points, so there's no plan B! Also, I did wash and detail my car a lot while up on the QJ and all the water caused the joints to rust - I wasn't good at lubing it. It lasted about 5 years.
Great video.I has my 2019 STI all the way up and couldn't figure out how to get it to go down. When I pressed down one side started to lower but the other did not!IT groaned and groaned.I watched your video and read the the manual.Lifted up the cam on the drivers side, pressed down and she lowered.thanks again!
The manual I saw says that the lifting blocks can be stacked for additional height. One small block is 18" lift height but if you stack the blocks you can get up to 21" lift height. There's the extra few inches you were looking for.
IME much less stable when the rubber blocks are double stacked as per manual. I returned my QJ after a major failure of the QJ. Subaru OB ‘11 was raised with the QJ and the locks engaged. While considering to keep a jack stand with me before crawling under the OB one of the QJ slid inward and under the OB. The rubber blocks apparently slipped off each other allowing the vehicle to drop fast on one side. I needed two floor jacks to get the vehicle safely onto the ground. I lost all confidence in the QJ. IMO the two QJ racks need to be secured together and never stack the rubber blocks. I would not consider any of the expensive QJ accessories to help raise a vehicle higher than with one rubber block.
Thanks for showing the bleeding part. Saw one video with no bleeding, one where they stood it up to bleed air, your way looks easier, maybe messier but that's what rags are for. Good review
Brian, Great video. One of the best. There are some safety probs. Always use jack-stands. There is no lateral support on the jack's back legs and inadequate lateral support on the front legs (needed from top to bottom, not part way. A good push sideways would drop the car. Plan on doing some welding. Even then, use the stands.
I love these videos, they really make me feel like I can tackle some of my own repairs, and I'm excited about maybe getting a QuickJack. Here's a question: Any advice on how well a QuickJack would work lifting a Ford Ranger Pick-up? I think it needs to be lifted under the frame, which is a little further inboard, somewhat shorter and/or not the same height front and back. I see QuickJack has a truck/SUV adapter set that looks promising. Thanks! - Jim in CT
Hahaaaa you act like I do once I get new tools. When I got my new Milwaukee M18 impact wrench, I started removing engine parts even though nothing was wrong with the engine lol.
It's nice to finally see a review on this from someone I trust. I'm thinking of splurging on a 7k lbs and trying to get and idea on the cheesy factor going on. When up, does it feel solid? Would you feel comfortable buzzing around under a car on your creeper doing this and that? I also see that they seem to leak like a siv, my guess is probably improper installation of the quick connects. You are also the first person to mention having to bleed the system! It seems to be absolutely perfect for my needs but I'm afraid to dish out the coin only to find out it's just a bottle of snake oil in disguise. I hope you Mother enjoyed doing that oil change for you... you deserve a break. LoL Merry Christmas to you and your family from your big bearded buddy in The Great White North.
the only problem with putting the jacks in sideways is if you have to work on a muffler or cabling that runs from the front to the back of the car. Also the BL 6000 XLT is longer for the electric vehicles since they all have a longer wheel base.
+PhilogusRex You're welcome. Seems a teaser video is easier to make and watch, but this is all stuff I would want to know before laying down that much cash. I'm not the most entertaining, but I try to make reference stuff that watches easy.
+briansmobile1 I would have to disagree, one of the big reasons I subbed was because I enjoy your attitude and personality. As for the lift(s), I've been eyeballing it(them) for ages. Unfortunately still not in the budget, but probably the best option for my workspace(driveway slightly slanting sideways downhill). Hope you have an awesome Valentine.
22:54 QJ / Bendpak says you can stack one 3” block and one 2” block and no more. 25:59 With the TL models they made the handles wider but I find them to be too wide and they slip off too easily.
A small amount of reviews have issue with customer service being slow and not accurate. Jack being shipped missing parts. This one is a step better then older ones.
I’d like to know if the 7000 With the long extender posts will lift my E250 work van. I currently have to use two floor jacks with two 4x4 blocks stacked on eachother to get a wheel off the ground enough to get a tall jackstand under each frame rail….then I have to slowly jack up the rear diff to get the rear wheels up which makes the front wheels want to touch the ground. Once the rear wheels are up enough I have to redo the fronts to get them off of the ground. This van is very heavy and it’s a tedious job. Every time I Jack it up I’m wishing I had something like this to get them all going up at the same time but it’s gotta be a heavy duty lift for sure.
hey brian ! hows it going? i wonder why you use teflon on your cuplers ? ive worked with hydraulics from ground up starting with the hoses and building them and then on to tubes , gold chromed iron ,and after that built block and brakes and stuff for wind mills , i never ever heard about teflon being used in this line of work , its simply too dangerus for the machines as you stated in the beginning , so why?
+transdetendal You're smart and you're not shy with it. I really like that about you. So my reason here is the instructions said to- and they even supplied me with their own special bit. I can speculate as to it being necessary due to manufacturing not being up to wind-mill spec or just a precaution due to US tort-law-crazy, but truth is I don't know. I just followed the instructions on this one here. I got embarrassed on the 3M boot camp trip for not reading and following directions real patiently and I watched others have better success than I did that week. So I self-corrected there... as evidenced here. I've spent years being a free-thinking instruction rebel (I liked it and had a great time to a point and I've got those memories) so what harm is is to try the other side a while and have both sets of experience? Life's fun like that.
briansmobile1 yea i can see your point ! could you say if your hoses are parker hanifin ? worlds biggest producer and the most used we also used , sorry i only THINK they are the biggest , alot of hoses in top qualety are also italian!
Wow, very nice. Hey, since you got your lift, do you find yourself staying cleaner? I am working on a creeper and I always get so dirty. Also, are there jobs that are easier on a creeper than on a lift?
Just a theory, but for higher sitting vehicles to make better use of the lift available wooden blocks of various sizes could be used in place of the rubber blocks.
+Silky Tp Thanks for asking- you don't need one at all. It was overkill even for the setup. A bike pump or 12V compressor would be perfect for setup. You don't need it day to day at all really.
Hey Brian, I've noticed that this is no longer available at the amazon place. Just wondering if things started to happen and they were taken off of the market. Great work btw
Item description says 21", but I guess that isn't 21" HIGHER than it already is. It(the frame) appears to be 21" off the ground, which is about 12" higher that it normally is, correct?
I'm setting here watching this tutorial and when you start talking to your Alexa my wife's Alexa starts yapping. I had to turn the volume down just so I could watch the video in peace. How well is it holding up after 4 years of use?
Brian I need to ask the single most important question: How much higher than your average chassis stands can this raise the car? I do a lot of DIY and I have disposable income but it really would need to be higher than chassis stands to make it worthwhile I think.
IfI don't have the air hose to bring it to 50 psi, what would you recommend? do you have an air compressor at home? thank you. Very good video by thw way!
Great vid :) Thinking about grabbing one of these myself but still have to check if it can be used between my Honda Accord Tourer and my Honda Civic Type-R (EK9) which don't really have the same lenght between lifting points or wheelbase so... need to measure first but... Great vid!
Hey Brian, could you mod it so you can drive over? then people could have it just laying in the garage till they are ready without having to slide it under
Brian! Do you think in your opinion these are safer than jack stands? I am always leary working under the car with jackstands. I always think something bad is going to happen..
+Kevin It all depends on how they're being used and if the user is working with them properly etc. I will say the car is VERY stable on these and they spread the load out on the floor pretty well. Having two independently supported structures helps too. They are simple to use as well.
Brian...have you tried lifting an SUV with this lift? I see they have SUV adapters, but wanted to know if you actually need them. Please let me know, thanks!
is this an updated version? reason I ask is I was watching EricTheCarGuys video of this and the safety locks are slightly different. thanks for all you do bud
Yes, Brian has the updated SLX model. SLX automatic safety locks Dual-position automatic safety locks engage automatically as the lift rises. You can disengage the safety locks with a flip of the lock bar for a smooth, hands-free descent. SLX extended block trays Larger cantilevered rubber block trays allow for improved functionality and better block positioning during set-up. Zero-leak fittings We designed the QuickJack to make you less work, not more. Which is why our flush face hose fittings ensure fluids stay in the unit and not on your garage floor.
Wow, I need these right now! I have to replace the guibo, (flex shafts) on my bmw Z 3and need to get it up in the air a few inches. How did they work out Dude your very entertaining in your vids, watched a couple you had me laughing. Good work Thanks for making them
What do owners do when the blocks cannot be placed far enough apart (jack bed too short) to reach the designated lift points on the vehicle (e.g. 2015 Hundai Elantra)?
I ordered this exact unit, BL-5000SLX. This video is concise, complete and very well presented by Brian. He makes it easy to set up, easy to work and easy to refer back to in case it is needed.
Thanks Brian for the time you took to go through it all so we can get right to using this jack.
I am very much impressed and wish to order for my car please let me have information to get it .Details to contact .

Very nice option for a small shop with space restrictions. Wonderful to see your mom at the end. Seems like a wonderful lady.

Trying to decide between the 5000TL or a maxjax. Good to see someone I trust do a review. I like this design.

+dojmike That's right. It's in the manual- didn't know the price.

Brian, very cool new toy. Your happiness is infectious-really fun to watch. Mom in the BFATE is priceless! Keep doing what you love. 😎
The latest revision has quite a few less fittings and even quicker to put together. Thanks for the review, helped me make the call on buying one.
Those are pretty slick. Driving on them would be nice though so you never had to move them.
+sixtyfiveford weld them to the frame lol
Your going to love that lift! Perfect for low ceiling garages. Nice upgrade Brian.

Excellent video. I just learned about Quick Jack a couple days ago, and I'm not doing research to decide if I want to buy one. This video was *very* helpful. Thanks for making it!
great video, much more detailed than others which you need. People are looking for detailed info not glossing over anything. Great job!
That looks like fun! A quick jack like that would be nice since the ceiling in my garage isn't quite high enough for a true lift.
Wow! Didn't realize the lock cams worked that way. After loosening up the nut, it locks and unlocks properly. I was doing it manually. Cool vid

Now that's cool. I can't get over the price on these that allow most DYS'ers the opportunity to get a lift. Ha I totally forgot the 14'th , thanks...

Great thorough review mate...you have a good presentation style and offered valuable tips. I'm gonna get one.
Well hello Mrs. Brian's mom! Your boy puts out great videos!

Every time you said Alexa my Echo went off! ...lol
+mikeallenbrown1 NICE! First world problems. ; )
Mine too, 5am out on the patio and I'm saying Alexa stop!!
I really got a kick out of you talking to Alexa while you're working on the video. LOL
Hahaaaa you act like I do once I get new tools. When I got my new Milwaukee M18 impact wrench, I started removing engine parts even though nothing was wrong with the engine lol.
2 Lifts you are one bad man! That lift would be great for under dash work or quick tire and brake work Best of luck
+Joseph Tucci I'm blessed. Thank you!
"Wouldn't mind having a couple more inches" lol...... Had to do it. Awesome review!
Super nice garage! Thx for the storage tips. Just received mine. :)
LoL
Merry Christmas to you and your family from your big bearded buddy in The Great White North.
Dude you got some sweet toys ! That thing is nice for the buck !
Very insightful video on this product! Thank you.
the only problem with putting the jacks in sideways is if you have to work on a muffler or cabling that runs from the front to the back of the car. Also the BL 6000 XLT is longer for the electric vehicles since they all have a longer wheel base.
Thanks for the awesomely in depth review.
Get the suv truck adapter set adds 3 more inches👍🏻😎
this its perfect brian. tanks for your videos and time .
Excellent video. I found your presentation very genuine.
What a fantastic review, brilliant thanks Brian.
I’d like to know if the 7000
With the long extender posts will lift my E250 work van.
Nice comment on valentines day, small price to pay for a valued commitment.
I've got a empty bay and I'm going to look into get something like that also.
hey brian ! hows it going? i wonder why you use teflon on your cuplers ? ive worked with hydraulics from ground up starting with the hoses and building them and then on to tubes , gold chromed iron ,and after that built block and brakes and stuff for wind mills , i never ever heard about teflon being used in this line of work , its simply too dangerus for the machines as you stated in the beginning , so why?
Life's fun like that.
briansmobile1
yea i can see your point ! could you say if your hoses are parker hanifin ? worlds biggest producer and the most used we also used , sorry i only THINK they are the biggest , alot of hoses in top qualety are also italian!
Well explained. I would opt for the 12v just for the portability. I guess 110v would be ok with a generator or maybe an battery inverter
Wow, very nice. Hey, since you got your lift, do you find yourself staying cleaner? I am working on a creeper and I always get so dirty. Also, are there jobs that are easier on a creeper than on a lift?
hydraulic fitting you do not have to put Teflon tape on the compression fittings but it's a extra precaution
Great review you explained it perfect and took your time thanks
i liked the older safety stops they had, seemed more rigid than the cam type. wouldnt they just wear and round out?
Just a theory, but for higher sitting vehicles to make better use of the lift available wooden blocks of various sizes could be used in place of the rubber blocks.
Nice it comes with a compressor!? Sold!!!! I’ve been seeing them with Manuel foot pumps
Great video. It wasn't clear though, do you need an air compressor for routine operation? Didn't look like it...
+Silky Tp The lift has its own hydraulic pump. You just need air to charge the cylinders and a bicycle pump would probably work.
+Silky Tp Thanks for asking- you don't need one at all. It was overkill even for the setup. A bike pump or 12V compressor would be perfect for setup. You don't need it day to day at all really.
+Mod MINI That's right. Thanks for fielding that- should have read your comment first.
Very well presented - I just ordered one.
I like the Mama seal of approval. 👍🏻
Hey Brian, I've noticed that this is no longer available at the amazon place. Just wondering if things started to happen and they were taken off of the market.
Great work btw
Item description says 21", but I guess that isn't 21" HIGHER than it already is. It(the frame) appears to be 21" off the ground, which is about 12" higher that it normally is, correct?
i think i am going to have to pick one of these up. finally got me a home so im not going to waste money for oil changes anymore
hi Brian great video could you use a generator to power the lift say in the field your mum looked like she was having fun cheers
+stuart archibald Heck ya. I'll be doing some of that in the near future. The QuickJack power unit also come in 12V power.
+briansmobile1 thanks for replying back the quick jack would be hand for a mobile mechanic to use out in the field cheers
Thanks for sharing this. Great details on this. Can you stack some blocks to give you a few more inches in height?
Thank you for the excellent review! I may have to invest in one! Unfortunately I have to redo my driveway so that it is level.
Great video. Thanks... looking to buy one of these soon.
I'm setting here watching this tutorial and when you start talking to your Alexa my wife's Alexa starts yapping. I had to turn the volume down just so I could watch the video in peace. How well is it holding up after 4 years of use?
I want one of those :)
Brian I need to ask the single most important question: How much higher than your average chassis stands can this raise the car? I do a lot of DIY and I have disposable income but it really would need to be higher than chassis stands to make it worthwhile I think.
does being under a car using this lift make you nervous a bit? or do you still slide some Jack stands or something under it for good insurance?
+Scott R Not nervous at all. It's solid with those safety locks.
IfI don't have the air hose to bring it to 50 psi, what would you recommend? do you have an air compressor at home? thank you. Very good video by thw way!
hey Brian if you can do a review removing a transmission with the quick jack please
Great vid :) Thinking about grabbing one of these myself but still have to check if it can be used between my Honda Accord Tourer and my Honda Civic Type-R (EK9) which don't really have the same lenght between lifting points or wheelbase so... need to measure first but... Great vid!
That safety catch on the jack frame seems so small and appears to be only tack welded on the top
Hey Brian, could you mod it so you can drive over? then people could have it just laying in the garage till they are ready without having to slide it under
great job partner .👍 looking into this for a samurai project.. maybe I should get it for my wife for an early anniversary gift 🤔...merica 🇺🇸
SLX automatic safety locks
Dual-position automatic safety locks engage automatically as the lift rises. You can disengage the safety locks with a flip of the lock bar for a smooth, hands-free descent.
SLX extended block trays
Larger cantilevered rubber block trays allow for improved functionality and better block positioning during set-up.
Zero-leak fittings
We designed the QuickJack to make you less work, not more. Which is why our flush face hose fittings ensure fluids stay in the unit and not on your garage floor.
Wow, I need these right now! I have to replace the guibo, (flex shafts) on my bmw Z 3and need to get it up in the air a few inches. How did they work out
Dude your very entertaining in your vids, watched a couple you had me laughing. Good work Thanks for making them
after having the lift for a little bit, would you recommend using it for winter storage to keep the car up off the ground?
Great Video Brian! Thanks!
thats nice but what would you do if the jack pont on a car is roted away and there no place to put it
What do owners do when the blocks cannot be placed far enough apart (jack bed too short) to reach the designated lift points on the vehicle (e.g. 2015 Hundai Elantra)?
