- Hey everyone, welcome back to another video! Today we're doing a very simple DIY mod for the 2020 corvette c8 which involves painting the lettering on the Michelin tires. We grabbed some permanent white oil based paint and cleaned the surface using acetone before working. It turned out pretty great for just being a $12 mod, hopefully it'll stand the test of time. Enjoy the video!

What do you guys think, does it make the car look better or worse?
Back in the day tires came this way, and some would turn the lettering to the inside for black walls.
When the car's moving, it looks like you have white walls? MCFLY!
Personally I love white letter tires, makes such a great visual impact both sitting still and with the chop it gives while moving. However, the process looks a bit tedious and time consuming, and I am not sure how long it will last before the white starts fading and chipping away. If you can easily scratch it off with a razor blade, I can't imagine it will be that durable. I really wish tire manufacturers would give the option where you pay a little more to get them with white letters from the factory.

I'm really late to the party here, lol, but I love it. That Sharpie pen looks legit. When I did my tires on my Evo I used the Dupli-Color pen and you couldn't "color" with it. You had to sit there and dab the pen until the letters were colored. Super tedious.

The oil in car tires tends to bleed through paint. In 6 months, you'll likely see brown stains in the white lettering from the oil bleeding through.
In 6 months these tires will be worn out from all the drifting we do haha, no worries there I guess.
These wheels look so much better than the stock C8 wheels. Interesting mod with the white Sharpie. AF

If you get some tape on the top and bottom, you’ll save you from over painting the letters and getting on the tires or the rubber strip underneath and above the top of the Michelin letters!

We used to do that in the late 60s early 70s. Great look. Hit it with Armoral
In the 80s and 90s even, the tires come with white on one side and black on the other side. The tire stores would ask you which side to face outside

Loved this video and mod....Why not use a black marker to sharpen up those edges?
i liked it...you could get a Black Sharpie and Outline all the White for more perfection... and then spray it with clear sheen!

Don't cry Stephen, acetone only costs $10 so you could remove it safely and easily.
skinny tie, fat tie ... hang around long enough and everything comes back.... Mich, Firestone, Goodyear, they all used to do this in the 60's, 70's & 80's.
I'm reminded of something I heard Chip Foose say regarding car customizing.... just because you can doesn't mean you should.

Why drop the car? Aren't you concerned about scrapes. Did you get the f e lift option?
Nah not at all. I'd rather have scrapes all over the bottom bumper than having to look at it sitting so high every day.

Where are you guys getting the springs from? Are you just doing the springs or the hole coil over i have the lt1 cant find just the springs
We're just going to order the FE3 springs from GM and drop it as much as it lets us.
Do you not have coil overs stock from factory? If so, you can just adjust them and lower the car 1.5 inches.....no new parts or mods
@@johnbell2063 FE1 suspension can't be lowered.
@@DailyDownshift do you have the part number for those springs and whats the cost. Cant wait to see you guys lower yours and how you do it.
@@johnbell2063 the 2020 lt1 Corvette does not have an adjustment like with the z51 package

I knew you were going to lower it see if you would of gotten the Z51 the coilovers are stock you end up spending the same thing without the brembo brakes

Was gonna do this but this won’t last it will chip off and look terrible
It will last as long as your tires just make sure to apply 3 coats and wash it every so often

Did you just apply one coat or two?
three coats in total, will add more if needed as we have extra marker paint.
@@DailyDownshift Excellent. Thank you. I'd like to see you do a comparison between the Sharpie and specifically designated "Tire Paint" though. I think the dedicated paint to do this might be a one and done application, or two at the most. Plus, it might last longer. Just my two-cents. The look is, well, great in white!👍
