Lived in the area for several years before eventually moving, but local businesses such as yours truly brought so much life to the area for locals. The staff were always nice and helpful whenever I would stop by. Glad to see you guys are putting out some content online and getting some eyes on it!
I know profit margins gotta be tight, but it's awesome you guys are able to grow a business you're passionate about. I was also blown away by the arcade tour!
@@RadJunk It's probably sold by now just asking out of curiousty how much where you guys asking for the Collector's Edition of Resident Evil Village that's right behind you
I'm originally from Crestview but I live in the Tampa Bay area now so I only get to make it home once or twice a year for the holidays. We visited the store when y'all first opened and another time a few years after that, always a great experience. You channel started popping up for me and I was so glad to see y'all thriving! I'm hoping to make it over again this fall to see what I can score for my vintage collection. Congrats on all your success!
Now idc if the consoles are crusty or not but i think it would be cool to see replacing screens on handhelds or testing/fixing old machines…i want to see how they work and whats needed in order to fix them. Hopefully that makes sense.
Crazy that I had been to rad bar a bunch of times since it opened but never to the actual shop until recently. Wife loved the OG gameboy color games I got her from there! Love what you guys provide for the community.
"Sometimes you gotta scrub a crusty Starfox" made me remember to hit the sub! Love you take on this stuff and your proper way to care for these old gems. I'm in!
those old catridge games never die.. i lost Wave race64 as a kid, and 7 months later my dad found it in the leaves he was raking.. washed it in the sink.. dried it.. and it still works
Id suggest throwing a quick spray of computer cleaner into the cartridge before doing isopropyl with a Q tip. After opening doing a squirt of purple Super Clean and a power drill with a small car detailing brush to agitate everything, might save a lot of time. Love the channel!
This was my dream for many years to open up a games store with retro games, collectibles and some sort of gaming café... I'm very impressed and hapoy for you guys! I never had the courage to open my own business so instead I became a social worker 😂
I remember my parents renting me smash bros for the weekend but it refused to work. I was so mad until my dad did the same trick at 4:55 and got it to work. Definitely a blast from the past to see it!
If you open to board I would use bright boy on the pins also a MR clean sheet works wonders with a dab of simple green or 90% alcohol for a easier clean process
I never thought I'll see the original Ramona flowers in the flesh! Thank you very much for the video. I'll love to pass by the store to buy some gems you have there, but I don't like on the states. Keep up the good work. Have a nice day
This popped up onto my recommended so started watching it and thought "that store looks very familiar..." I came in several years ago when you guys were brand new! Glad to see you're still going down there! Still got the NES you guys sold me. Will probably stop in when I come back to visit some friends in a few weeks...
I always have a decon process when buying any used games, blu-rays etc. For the plastic cases I use 'Mr Sheen' multi-surface polish + a couple of yellow dusters, one for cleaning then 2nd one for the buffing/polish stage. It's surprising how a crusty, battered case can often clean up really nicely. Obviously with card slipcovers, paper sleeves etc. you have to be more careful, any liquid to a minimum and making sure to leave no trace of it. For cigarette smoke smell, you can sometimes cover it by wiping a little scented fabric softener on/in the case and a tiny amount on the paper covers. But occasionally they are just too far gone. I remember a white DVD sleeve partially exposed from plastic, stained dark yellow. Had to throw out the case & cover, as the smell was so strong.
I have a decent collection of retro games/consoles/collectables and I cannot agree enough about crusty and smelly stuff. I have a plastic tote that I fill with dryer sheets and put my smelly stuff in and I have iso and plastic wedges for the crust lmao. Keep up the great content. I love it!
I remember learning a long time ago to always look for holes in a used disc before i purchase it. Especially when it comes used games and even blu ray discs.
Out of the thousands of cartridges i have bought and 18 years of reselling i have only came across 2 that I could not get to work. I have had to leave some in the system with the power turned on for several hours and then they started working. I have not “Relowed” any yet but I hear that is another way to get them back to life
Will never understand taking filthy items in for trade. It's even more degen than taking in stuff without a case. 1. It's like do they not want the maximum from a trade? & 2. Do they really have no shame in letting other people know how disgusting their living space has to be?
I hate that collectors make these prices go up so high. There are games I'd like to play that I never got to when I was younger but they're still so expensive, sometimes even more than they were new. Even broken ones! With anything else you'd see things get cheaper when they're outdated.
300 grit sandpaper always was the perfect thing to clean the cartridge terminals.. it's the best thing like for real. Only seen a couple people ever use it here on UA-cam
Super Mario 64, Majoras Mask and Ocarina of Time are very rare and pricey [especially loose]. Star Wars Episode 1 Racer is actually on Xbox Game Pass, and it plays pretty good on it 😀 Seeing you take apart Star Fox 64 and cleaning up and restoring it to its former glory was amazing 👏🏽
I get a bunch of old stuff on a regular basis (I run a site about games, so readers sometimes send things to me), and some of it is much, MUCH worse than this. I remember a Mega Drive III (Genesis II in US) that looked like it had been abandoned under the sun and rain, and when I opened it up, it had a lot of DIRT, like a reddish soil inside. It could have a plant if it wasn't dry and dark. I guess the guy was living where dust storms were common, maybe Mars. No ideia how that crap ended up inside the console. And some cartridges look beyond cleaning until I brush the contacts with fine sandpaper. Most of them come back from the dead.
This is reminding me of a Conkers that i got that had been puked on. Was able to clean it up just fine except for the RF shield. That was corroded so I just swapped in a nice clean one and then you couldn't tell it had any issue.
'maybe nicotine, who knows, I don't, I don't wanna know, quite frankly' words of wisdom. The Mario Sunshine disk rot is honestly impressive for all the wrong reasons. I don't really grok quite what happened to it.
