I hope this comparison of the iPad Air 4 vs M1 11” iPad Pro was helpful. Did I cover what you wanted to know? What else did you want to see or learn about? Which one would you choose and what would you use it for? I am grateful in advance 🙏
I think Apple give us the answer in their product naming - if you're a professional (or using it for work), buy the Pro. If you're not, buy the Air (unless money is no object, so feel free to go for the Pro if you would benefit from the extra features). It's as simple as that.
@@iangrant3615 More if you're a Pro grandMa to be honnest. Who as a Pro would use an iPadPro? Unless you are thinking of replacing a Wacco tablet, but the iPadPro is too small. As a pro photographer: nop unless you use it as a staging device to review pictures and Thunderbolt speed is a strong plus, as a pro videographer: nop, as a pro data scientist: nop, as a pro developer: nop, as a pro gamer:nop. Only Pro Grandma would benefit. The truth is, the real benefit of this iPad is the screen, everything is you are fooling yourself if you truly believe is it the best device for the task. We want Parralel on the iPad Pro.
@@alexdubois6585 True yes. I just meant that if a professional is in the market for an iPad at all, then the Pro one is the one made with them in mind. As you say, it's not a professional piece of kit as it's a consumer product, but if a content creator or other professional person in another sector who isn't restricted by their company or profession not allowing or using iPads/iOS then the Pro is the portable device that could work best for them. True pros wouldn't even be here seeking guidance from a UA-camr on what device they need, they would just be using whatever is industry standard and they'd either be issued one by their company or would buy the thing everyone around them uses lol ;). In short: you're right indeed.
I’ve just purchased the 11 inch iPad Pro 128GB, which was only £50 more than the 256GB Air. I didn’t need the 256GB of storage offers on the Air but the 64GB Air just didn’t offer enough storage for my needs. Balancing out my storage needs with the better features offered by the Pro for just an extra £50 over the 256GB it made no sense buying the Air. The speakers on the Pro are excellent, far better than the Air, I’m very happy with my purchase.
Why pay more? Double the RAM, double the storage, double the refresh rate, double the CPU speed, double the graphic performance, double the amount of cameras (not counting the LiDAR scanner), double the amount of speakers, three times faster port, better front facing camera, flashlight, brighter screen, Face ID (arguably a faster and a more convenient way to unlock your device). So IMO the additional benefits are just too good to go with the Air. Just an opinion.
I recently bought an iPad Air 4 and it does everything that you’d expect! I guess for a lot of users iPad Pro is like owning a race car in a busy city. A lot of power but nowhere to unleash!
You got the points but at 600bucks? Why not throwing another 200bucks after all. I mean don’t get me wrong but the price was so freakin close. Unless you aimed for the 12.9 models, yet it’s another topics
I’ll echo for most users you don’t need a pro. I went from an air 4 to an m1 pro and see no difference. I only upgraded because I’m a technology nerd and waste money like this is something I do regular. But for a smart consumer, you’ll never feel the power of m1 and the extra 2 gigs of ram. Ask yourself if you use an air, “man this is slow I could use some more power”. That never happens
Considering that 256gb iPad Air 4 costs almost the same as the 128gb iPad Pro M1 , I went for the iPad Pro M1, I love the 120hz and the 8gigs of ram , practically keeps all my apps open.
I think the difference is worth it. If you're planning on using your iPad for 4+ years, it will always stay relevant with its desktop class SoC. With Apple introducing new features, new functionalities, we may see that they'll be optimised for the M architecture. And the difference is not that much tbh.
Im pretty sure it’s intentional. Cz 64gigs is too little for an ipad, 128 is a perfect amount of rom. So its 150-200$ more, but not just for a rom, overall better product that would have greater support in the future. Pick your poison
But, if you are comparing to ipad8 with 32 gigs, the air4 is a perfect upgrade for only $150 more. If you are looking at iPad 8 and the pro, it’s now $400 leap in price. Actually, here in Australia, it’s a $600 price difference!
Ordered iPad Pro 11" after watching your video. It was a much needed comparison and analysis. I totally dig the 120 hz refresh rate, the sheer power of the processor, multitasking capability, awesome cameras, quad speaker system, and above everything else, much better experience on Procreate with better pencil response (not so much for the extra layers though, unless you're designing for Disney or Marvel), overall. Thanks a lot!
Just went through this exact decision and chose the Pro. The Air is awesome, but I wanted the M1 and Thunderbolt port for more future proofing if Apple does ever decide to push the boundaries of iPadOS. (I’m not holding my breath there 😂)
i was facing the choice between these 2 devices and choosed in the end for the Pro. As my iPad Air 2 has less than 30% memory usage of its 64GB after 5 years, I opted for the 128GB model. Normally I will receive it tomorrow since the first delivery attempt was not succesfull. Interesting video, keep up the good work!
I went from iPad Air 4 256gb to iPad Pro 11’ 128gb because I wasn’t happy with spending so much on unnecessary storage, so I figured I’d rather spend a little extra to get the pro features. Nope lol not worth it, I returned the pro and I’m going for the cheapest air. If you are using your iPad for simple web browsing, media consumption, and note taking, save yourself some money and go for the cheapest Air 4. You aren’t missing out on anything and you really don’t need more than 64gb for those use cases.
I could have gotten the iPad Air 4 and a keyboard.. but I chose to get the 11” M1 by itself. The screen alone was worth it for me but getting LiDar and 128gb storage and a few other things make it worth it. Do not get anything 64gb in 2021 if you plan on keeping it for awhile.. it’s not enough. 128gb is the sweet spot for value and utility.
I decided to get 256GB with my M1 11 inch iPad Pro because I suffered with 32GB on my old iPad. I’m not making the mistake with storage ever again. I played safe this time
I actually believe the IPad Pro 11” 2021 is a better bargain. The IPad Air comes with 64G base model and the upgrade is 256G. That is just under the price of the IPad Pro 11” with 128G witch is good. (64g is just not enough) Plus you get a better processor, and more ram. The iPad Pro 11” is the better option in my opinion.
@@Levi4084 actually I have an IPad Pro 2015. Was thinking of upgrading but going to wait. My iPad will take the IPadOS upgrade and the features don’t warrant the purchase now. Yes battery life on my iPad is not the best, and a bit slower then the new ones. I’m not into photography or video so I don’t really care about the fancy cameras. I like to record music and no Logic Pro on iPads. Longevity!!!
This was the decision I had to make. I was buying my first iPad at the same time the new iPad was being released. Many Apple folks advised 5at for most users the iPad Air 4 is probably the right selection. At Best Buy the iPad Air in 256 (the 64 is just too small even for a casual user) was 699, the 2020 iPad 11” iPad Pro 749, and the IPad Pro 2021 in 11” inch 256 899. I figured, I liked the minor features benefits and thought maybe would future proof me a bit, so I went for the iPad Pro. I really like it so far and my attitude if you use something regularly you never get burned on the price so the extra money was no big deal. My only complaint is I use my iPad mostly in portrait mode and the pen is in the way. I wish it would magnet on the back top or bottom so it could be out of the way. I may get an inexpensive thin light megnetic strip to solve the issue.
I cancelled my iPad Pro order and purchased an Air 4 instead. For me it's a tablet, so there is little sense in paying $150 more for horsepower I will never use. Now if the Pro 11" had the miniLED display, it would have been a harder decision!
I just received my iPad Pro this week and it’s going back, I can barely notice the difference between it and my current one. This was an excellent video 👍👍
I choose M1 iPad Pro. Just think of all the pro apps or even more demanding games that are to come that will run way smoother on this device in the future. And as you always say, buy it nice or buy it twice. If you buy the M1 in 5 years you'll still be running everything as smooth as you do now. However, for the iPad Air that could be not the case so instead of spending extra 150$ now you will end up buying another new iPad Air by then so you will "buy it twice" and instead pay another 600$ just because you wanted to save now, and as always cheap turns to be expensive. 😉
I bought regular ipad 2018 but after almost 4 years this ipad is slower and i started thinking of ipad pro. I must agree with you about buying twice lower ipad then buy more rarely but best version. BTW fro those people who think of buy ipad 2018. This device on ipadOS 15 still rocks for daily use like warchink youtube, netflix or surfing on web but sometimes ipad get slow during typing or multitasking.
So you bought the 2000usd iPad Pro ? With 2 TB gb ? If u buy the 128 Gb / 256 / 512 budget version won’t do after 5 years apps are getting bigger and bigger unless u want to uninstall each app every time 😂 so what your saying is such a BS. And most of us can’t afford 2000 iPad and u also need to buy Ipen and magic keyboard. iPad Pro 12.9 way to expensive for the 2tb u can buy 3 iPad airs instead of one. This review didn’t even mention the downside of iPad OS. Specs are pro but software not pro. And many thinking it’s a laptop replacement as I thought my self but it’s not.
@@waikiwang I realistically don’t care, yes I got the 2021 iPad 12.9 but the cheapest 128GB which is enough for my workflow because of two reasons: size and future-proofing. There’s no 12.9 iPad Air. The idea of apps getting bigger won't change much the way I see it. Many people with 5 or more years iPads still do fine with them today. If needed, you can store a lot of your shit in the icloud or in an external SSD. Now Instagram will never be using 1GB of your devices. This is just an example. And even if so, they even do the light versions of all these apps or for most of them it is fine for you to use their web versions. I also don't need the magic keyboard for my workflow as of right now. I don't see it as a laptop replacement by any means. It's a tablet and it serves totally different purposes. I already had a laptop. I don't need 2TB iPad Pro to take digital notes in university, it's stupid. But for photo editing, music producing and/or gaming I'm certain that this device with all it's M1 capabilities will just get better and better over time.
@@zemresende your clearly not a pro user I guess you not even own a iPhone... because we iPhone users want our phone data also on the iPad. If your an iPhone user you will keep your data on any apple device. For normal use only my photos I kept all these years got more then 80gb not even talking about my videos apps data docs etc. I guess you should do good with any iPad.. as a pro user u want your data like photos you shot with your dlsr transfered to your iPad and use lightroom to edit your raw photos. You can do it anywhere like in a coffee shop in the bus. No need to be at home using your computer/laptop Or a animator drawing on your iPad using photoshop or pro create medibang. Or use autocad files on your iPad and show them to your customers etc. As a UA-cam streamer you want to covert and edit your video your files etc It’s pro use. Not just a office checking email and daily UA-cam Netflix thing which is fine but your advice is better buy a 128gb iPad instead of a cheaper iPad Air which is wrong. Also iCloud... what ever file u own on your device like iPhone or iPad also exist on your iCloud. Which is expensive with apple. You clearly not own a iPhone. Not even know how to use iCloud.
i'm totally happy with my ipad Air 4 and have no intension of upgrading because the only thing i'm doing with my ipad is watching netflix and youtube and writing. For any more intensive task i have my PC
My only fear of getting the IPad Air 4 over the new iPad is how much time has passed already from 2020 to now. That’s almost 1 year and a half. So the price is still pretty steep for what they are giving you over the new ones.
Thanks for this comprehensive comparison of the two! I'm a dedicated Lumafusion user and I'm thinking of upgrading my old iPad Pro 2017 to the new iPad Pro 11 M1. It's because of the higher processing power and with the new External Drive Editing feature in the Lumafusion 3.0 the whole new approach to the memory size comes into play! I might considering the cheaper 256 or 512 GB version of Pro 11 and not feel memory-deprived for I can use my external T5 disk without even taking any resourses from the iPad's memory! Thanks again! Linas
I’ve been thinking about the 64GB iPad Air for a while. How long do you expect to keep your iPad and do you think the low storage will be a problem for you in the future?
I bought three years ago an IPad 4 for gaming and always performs poorly. The only downside I see on the pro is the face authentication the touch ID is much easier for micro transactions I believe. I think I’ll go for the 11” Pro.
This is the question I’m asking myself, do I need more than 64GB of storage or not? I want to keep this iPad for a as long as I can functionally so I think I will but I really don’t wanna throw away an extra £200 if I don’t need to
@@safwanbaksh2224 same.. thats what stopping me from buying the ipad air 4 base model... the 256gb version and 128gb base model of ipad pro 11 has a closer price range.. not a small difference but they are within range of each other.. cant decide 😓
Really great, in-depth review. I think I’m going to go with a green Air. And just to reiterate because I’m sure someone mentioned it already, that Lumafusion now has external hard drive editing capability which is a huge game changer for my decision. But I’m also in the market because it’s not supported on my iPad 7th Gen with its old lightning port. Thanks again, I know the hard work and time it takes to publish videos and you do an incredible job! 👏
I bought the ipad air 4 from one of your previous videos just 3 days ago! I got the 256 GB since It's all I need alongside my macbook pro (cs student can't survive without it lol) and I saved the extra money to buy the apple pencil and folio keyboard. Great video, thank you!
I really wish you can make more in detail about the display comparison between them. Especially like dark and night scenes from movies. ❤️ love your video btw
I’m leaning towards the iPad Air 4 (coming from 2017 iPad Pro). I’ll be using it for notes mostly at work and think that Touch ID would be more convenient than Face ID since we’ll likely be using masks for some time now.
If you’re used to the iPad Pro 120hz screen it might be pretty hard to drop to that 60 on that air, that’s exactly why I swapped my air for the new pro
Considering the 256GB M1 Pro is only $150CAD more than the same storage variant of the Air 4, I definitely feel it’s far more worthwhile going for the Pro. 120Hz Promotion is great, speakers are better, and the extra power and RAM means it’ll likely get more years of software update support. Loving my M1 Pro so far!
I think the best bang for the buck iPad right now is a used iPad Air 4. A used iPad Pro M1 is around 700 usd but for a used iPad Air 4 is around 400-450 usd and most of the time still under warranty. I just bought a month old iPad Air 4 256gb for 500 usd only. One of my recent best buys as a the bnew cost of it here in our country is around 850 usd!
Great discussion here which at the end of the day comes down to the same decision as buying a car do you get the base model that comfortably does 90% of the things you ask of it or do you go for the model with 30% more power just so you know its there in case you need it ? It’s just a question of how much you value that extra 30% for a small increase in possibilities. If I was younger and paying a mortgage I’d be going for the base model, now I’m older and have a 40 year technical career behind me, I’m going for the extra power.
Not really - because you can access the power in the car whenever you want. The extra power in the Ipad pro would only be activiated if you managed to find an activity that used ridiculous amounts of processing power.
Media consumption, get the Air 4. Media consumption and photography, get the iPad Pro 11”. Media consumption, photography and videography, get a MacBook Air.
I can’t give up Touch ID on the iPad. I mean they use fingerprint on my MacBook Pro and the phone can open with the Apple Watch. I have been holding on to my iPad trying to wait until the Pros have Touch and Face ID. I may have to get an air 4 and just sell it when and if the Pros get Touch ID. There has not been a day that goes by where I wish my phone had something other than “Face ID”
I do know what you always say, and that is why i chose the 11” M1 with 256x8 and the magic keyboard and pencil. I felt that all told, i would be happy that i spent the extra $150.00 over the long term. Which i expect i will get at least 5 good years from this device. I just traded in my 2016 9.7” iPad Pro…..
Yeah similar situation for me. I like to keep my stuff longer and I know the extra RAM and CPU/GPU speed will really help in a few years. M1 is already faster in opening apps and web..
I bought iPad Air week ago. It is enough for my needs. I do not need thunderbolt nor 120Hz display. FaceID and better speakers are nice to have bud does not judge extra cost. Same as extra perfromance, I cant utilize A14... so M1 is overkill. If I will consider iPad 11 pro, the I will probably look for 2020 model, in my country those are Selling new for 100 bucks less than M1 ones so sits exactly between Air and M1 iPad Pro 11. Which seems as great value too, but I do not need that 128GB storage, my iPad is under 30GB used
@@TechGearTalk I appriciate your content. You are one on side which doesnt complain after WWDC that iPad Pro is ruined as some other youtubers. Some tech youtubers act like their needs are same as for iPad users majority, but in reality, those are just extremly small fraction of user base, but visible and vocal ones. You have realistic point of view and you understand that every single user have own specific needs and expectations. I never seen too high expectations nor overhyping products. I applologize for my english. It is not my native language and I never learn it too much, I can clearly understand, but my english writting is lame :)
I am a college student really going between ipad air and ipad pro. If the base ipad air 4 came with 128 gigs, it would be an easy choice. I just don't feel safe with less than 128. Honestly now looking at 2020 ipad pro since ipadOS15 isn't taking much advantage of M1 either and those ipads last long time if taken good care I am satisfied if it takes me through for 3 years Honestly.
I just bought the air 4 and the Touch ID is annoying and inefficient, it’s faster to type in password then figuring out what corner the Touch ID is on, Face ID is a huge convenience upgrade and honestly that alone makes it better in my opinion.
I got both the M1 Pro 11” and the Air 4 for a week. I’m most like keeping the Air. For $279 difference when AppleCare which is almost TWICE as much for the PRO is included into the price I personally didn’t see a big enough difference other than the Face ID and Promotion. If this aren’t deal breakers perhaps save the $279 and apply it towards the keyboard.
@@Qatari2007 To simplify. If your okay with 64gb instead of 128gb, Touch ID instead of Face ID, 60fps instead of 120fps and $69 for AppleCare vs $129. For me the biggies are only 64gb and no Touch ID.
@@mrmaramind really? Still the same time? (Just I had some minor issues with my air and wanted a refund to get the pro but now I think I’ll keep my air but my brain keeps bugging me and wants to know I shouldn’t get the pro. I’ve been thinking about it for ages and need sleep haha)
The air is a good middle ground, yet I still went for the 11 M1 pro. Only get the air if you are concerned about the budget. For the little extra you are paying. You are getting a lot more. Slightly bigger and better display 120hz motion Better camera’s both on the front and the back Better speakers Better performance and future proofing Better storage options. Support for thunderbolt accessories Should be a no brainer… If you can afford an air, with 256gb, You might as well get the pro. I’d say between the two, the air would be a foolish choice.
Finally got M1 yet it cost 930 for 128gb in my country. Thanks for your videos to help me with this decision. Now I need to figure out how to make the most of it
The Ipad Air is good enough for the normal user. But for artists and designers, the Ipad Pro is a must go. The 120 hz Display and the Apple pencil response on it is a gamechanger for a designer.
I Got my 2020 iPad Pro a few days after the iPad Air came out and sometimes I deff regret not getting the Air, but that 120hz Display is SOOO Nice! Great Video Man!
I have an 11” 2018 Apple Refurbished iPad Pro and it is the BEST tech purchase I have ever made. It replaced my laptop pc and is now my main machine. It does everything that I need and is uber portable. I purchased an M1 MacBook Air recently and returned it to Apple as I simply didn’t use it as I kept returning to my iPad Pro. Absolutely love it. Great vid to btw. Subbed 👍
I am really tempted to get one but, I am looking for something that will help me edit videos and photos on the go 🤔 you do a great job with presentations as always.
I’ve had the Air 4 256G w/ Folio Touch for almost a year and for my usage it would make no sense to run out and get the 11” M1 Pro but it is very cool iPad without question. For everyday email, web surfing, text and FaceTime the Air4 is all anyone needs but you do need the 256G, 64G just isn’t enough these days and I don’t no why they still offer it.
strategy! if they offered ipad air with 128 gig, it would make so much sense and people would purchase that. But now, it kinda pushes you toward buying pro.
For anyone shopping iPads right now, here is what you need to do, but the 2020 iPad Pro. I had the Air for a couple of weeks and returned it and got the 2020 Pro and it is amazing, much much better and only $100 more. The Face ID is so so much better, you get double the storage, the extra camera and the Lidar is great especially with things like the Measure app and you can absolutely tell the difference with the ProMotion it is so much smoother. Now I know why people are always complaining that the iPhone doesn’t have 120 Hz. To be fair even the 2021 Pro for $200 more is worth it also. Do get the Apple Pencil though, that thing is great.
I considered a refurbished iPad Pro 11 but the price difference was too close for me so I got the M1 iPad Pro 11. I just didn’t want A12X in 2021 either.
Face ID Better screen Higher refresh rate Thunderbolt Faster processor Double the storage Double the RAM Center Stage Better Cameras Studio Microphones I mean… that’s a lot of bang for your $200. I would choose pro 11 inch over the ipad air 256gb as 64 is not enough for longevity, yet there is one issue, even though there is a $50 difference between air 4 256gb and pro 11 inch 128 gb model, in my country, this difference is much higher, more than $100, so it is making it really difficult for me to decide. any help Tech Gear Talk?
I bought the air 4 wi fi 256 gb model just a day or two after buying my first ever iphone , also a 256 gb storage , 12 pro max , i use the air 4 mostly for general browsing and watching media , the usual daily stuff , emails ,etc , the occasional tampering with a photo which works ok , or a bit of sketching stuff , grocerie lists , nothing overly heavy . Its a good little tablet , I dont game on it , i also get around 10 hours of screen on time . It was interesting learning iphone operations , and then doing similar stuff on the ipad , it was a good way to get the hang of a different operating system, as they are very much alike imo . I may get the 12.9 pro at some stage and give the air 4 to my dear old mum , she likes it too , it is a nice size for her ...
i was thinking of going for ipad air because it was good enough for me but i wasnt sure on the 64gb model as 20gb is just the system files and pre installed apps so if u want the 256gb variant it would cost u 64k while the ipad pro 128gb will cost u 68k so there is no point going for the ipad air.
1/10th of an inch difference doesn’t seem like much. But I’ve handled both tablets extensively and the difference between is pretty noticeable to me even when not side by side. The bezels on the edges of the iPad Air are thicker than the side bezels of the iPad 8.
At first I was going to go for the iPad Air but considering I want to get a more portable laptop replacement to do photo and video editing without always relying on my laptop or the smaller screen of the iPhone then the iPad Pro 11 inch sounds like a clear winner.
Thank you for a great comparison. I think I'll go with the iPad Air 4, because I don't need the high end features, but I'm going to buy the 256 GB. With the difference in price, I'm going to get the Apple pencil 2 and a keyboard :-)
@@DeZomer35 I ended up going with the Pro--the price difference wasn't much, and with the new M1 chip, it will give me longer life. Also got the Apple pencil and Logitech keyboard. LOVE THEM!!!! So happy!!!
@@4EverLover03 Hi Leslie, I got the big one, 256 gb. I decided that I keep my pads for a long time, and will regret having one that's too small more than I'd regret the extra cost. I love this pad, and love my apple pencil. Exactly what I was hoping for.
I chose the iPad Pro. Its a little more expensive but I think this choice adds some future proofing. Ive been really happy with my choice other than I thought the battery may be a little better than it turned out to be in reality. My last iPad was a 3rd gen iPad Air and it was great. I don't think you can make a bad decision here. It just depends on what features you want and what you want to spend
As a display aficionado, after experiencing OLED screens, and now Mini LED, there's absolutely NO WAY that I could return to outdated LCD technology. As Flossy says, "You have to pay to play, so let's play."
I just won a 256gb ipad air 4 on ebay for $455, so I'm pretty stoked to get it and start using it. the air has everything I'll need (especially glad it has touch id since that's what I prefer) thanks for the comparison of these two models :)
That’s why I went with the M1 11 Pro, if I’m going to spend $600 might as well spend a little more for a lot of extra specifications. I’ve heard the term overkill before and it always ended up meaning more futureproof.
Thank you, for this excellent side by slide model review. If buying in June 2021, I would pick-up the iPad Air with max memory and cell data service. However, once the smaller iPad Pro gets the same screen upgrade the larger model has now received. At that point, if buying new would select the iPad Pro version (smile...smile).
I'm leaning to the air just because of touch id! I want it for digital planning and drawing: face id doesn't work when the device is set flat on a desk.
I have had issues with the ID/home button on my Air3. It’s a major annoyance. When I upgrade, I will go with the Pro even though it’s overkill because it has Face ID. Everything else will be gravy.
Genshin Impact plays on the iPad Pro M1 without dimming the screen after 12 seconds, so obviously you have to go with the Pro. All the other stuff is moot. :) Great review by the way! I love your in depth reviews, it helps me tremendously in making purchasing decisions. It is because you do not focus on benchmarks, you focus on real world usage and that is all that matters.
The dealbreaker for me for the iPad Air is definitely the 120hz display. It’s just so nice in my opinion. (Btw I have an iPad Pro 10.5 inch 2017 which is still good)
Was able to get the iPad Air 4 with 256 GB at Best Buy for only $584. I only do light web browsing and doodling on the iPad. Could have really used the regular iPad for my needs but I like the way the Air looks. I brought my daughter the M1 iPad Pro 11 inch 512 GB as she does graphic design. She does not like the larger size.
An excellent review. The extra power and capability of the iPad Pro are severely limited by the iPad OS. I am a photo and video editor and use external storage on an iMac as I would quickly fill up its 1TB SSD. The limitation of photo and video editing apps such as Lightroom or Lumafusion to use external storage, the lack of higher end apps such as Final Cut Pro, the poos file management system all limit the value from the iPad Pro's extra power. I think until these limitations are fixed in iPad OS then the iPad Air or even the iPad are better value for money. At the moment and for at least another year, a MacBook is required for photo and video editing as well as other types of work and file conversion.
I’m still rockin my iPad 7th generation. It was a Father’s Day gift 2 years ago. It’s still pretty damn good. But if I’m gonna spend $800 on an iPad Pro, I might as well shell out an extra $100 and get the M1 MacBook Air. That aside, your videos are next level my man. Outstanding content and quality! Please keep it up!👍🏼
Great video! One question, could you please do a long term review on the white keyboard case? I think a lot of us want to see how it will last, especially compared to a brand new one. Thanks again!
For wired headset, I got a USB-C to 3.5 mm adapter for my I-Pad Pro, which is expected tomorrow. I can't wait. I also got my Magic Keyboard in white to match my pencil which I already got and the pencil and my I-Pad Pro will has the free engraving.
Can't wait to get my iPad air 4 on my birthday! You convinced me that I don't need a pro lol. Thanks so much for these really good comparisons. Keep it up!
i bought the pro about a week ago just for the m1 chip, im thinking about how long im going to use it instead of what im going to use it for within a year, i bought the pro thinking about if its going to last me through college and work for the next 4 or 5 years. It is a big investment but i think i made the right choice, future proofing with ios software and its also replacing a heavy laptop i had. I dont regret my decision at all.

The speakers on the Pro are excellent, far better than the Air, I’m very happy with my purchase.
congrats! For me, it’s the same with the storage, which is why I chose to go with the ipad 11 inch!
Thanks this helps me decide what to get
And that’s how Apple got you to pay an extra £50
Not to mention the pro-motion

Why pay more?
Double the RAM, double the storage, double the refresh rate, double the CPU speed, double the graphic performance, double the amount of cameras (not counting the LiDAR scanner), double the amount of speakers, three times faster port, better front facing camera, flashlight, brighter screen, Face ID (arguably a faster and a more convenient way to unlock your device).
So IMO the additional benefits are just too good to go with the Air. Just an opinion.
Makes sense to me 👍 - those are good reasons to pay more
Yep, the air is just if you can’t get the extra money cause seems silly not to do the upgrade. When apple puts Pro on so,etching they mean it.
Plus the iPad Air is close to the price of the M1 11 inch iPad Pro btw

@@lost_potato7714 yup it's worth to upgrade
I recently bought an iPad Air 4 and it does everything that you’d expect!
I guess for a lot of users iPad Pro is like owning a race car in a busy city. A lot of power but nowhere to unleash!
You got the points but at 600bucks? Why not throwing another 200bucks after all. I mean don’t get me wrong but the price was so freakin close. Unless you aimed for the 12.9 models, yet it’s another topics
@Ryan Bramble and you get 2 more GB RAM and 128GB base storage.
@@AmanKhoo for 200 more I spent it for the apple pencil 2 and external ssd so Im good
@M U bruh shut up I have the iPad Air 4 and ic ant even use the full power so why get the pro
Considering that 256gb iPad Air 4 costs almost the same as the 128gb iPad Pro M1 , I went for the iPad Pro M1, I love the 120hz and the 8gigs of ram , practically keeps all my apps open.
i have the same concern, cant decide which one to go for...I mostly do casual day surfing video and all. PLus i need Lightroom and Photo editing

"Buy it Nice or Buy it Twice" iconic word from Tech Gear Talk
Plus your style at last video is so Cool 😎
Thank you 🙏🏻
I think the difference is worth it. If you're planning on using your iPad for 4+ years, it will always stay relevant with its desktop class SoC. With Apple introducing new features, new functionalities, we may see that they'll be optimised for the M architecture. And the difference is not that much tbh.
I think this is excellent perspective.
This.
This question has been on my mind ever since the M1 iPad release! Thank you for making a video on the topic. Keep up the great work g !
So glad it was helpful.
I love my iPad Air 4😍 I’ve had it 6 months now and it’s all I need. iPad Pro would be overkill for me😂
iPad Air 4 is missing a 128 gb option. Paying an extra 150$ gets more with iPad Pro.
CONGRATS!!! You will love the Pro!
Thank u, really wise thinking. 64 gb is enough for the casual users💪
iPad 9 can also handle everything you mentioned
That's what I did exactly and now I'm happy with the 64 WiFi for a bargain price
Exactly what I decided on too. I just could not bear to just have 64gb. 128gb is the way to go
I decided to get 256GB with my M1 11 inch iPad Pro because I suffered with 32GB on my old iPad. I’m not making the mistake with storage ever again. I played safe this time
@Mark Moore I would recommend 256gb if possible
I actually believe the IPad Pro 11” 2021 is a better bargain.
The IPad Air comes with 64G base model and the upgrade is 256G.
That is just under the price of the IPad Pro 11” with 128G witch is good.
(64g is just not enough)
Plus you get a better processor, and more ram.
The iPad Pro 11” is the better option in my opinion.
@@pmf822 Yeah, on a tablet though I think longevity is very important, I'd prefer the 256 GB.

What is your current one if you don't mind me asking?
Count in inflation, the new iPad Air 5 yrs later base price will be 1000 dollars plus
I guess you should do good with any iPad..
as a pro user u want your data like photos you shot with your dlsr transfered to your iPad and use lightroom to edit your raw photos. You can do it anywhere like in a coffee shop in the bus. No need to be at home using your computer/laptop
Or a animator drawing on your iPad using photoshop or pro create medibang. Or use autocad files on your iPad and show them to your customers etc. As a UA-cam streamer you want to covert and edit your video your files etc It’s pro use.

Great!!!
I super appreciate you contributing to the community, Chris!
Not really - because you can access the power in the car whenever you want. The extra power in the Ipad pro would only be activiated if you managed to find an activity that used ridiculous amounts of processing power.
Why? If you’re a little older your brain can’t even keep up with M1 😂

I am really tempted to get one but, I am looking for something that will help me edit videos and photos on the go 🤔 you do a great job with presentations as always.
Pro M1
128gb iPad pro or 256gb iPad Air??? Help me choose please....
I really appreciate you sharing your process! Thanks for being part of the channel!
I pad pro should be 144hz display they stuck on 120hz from 4 years
I considered a refurbished iPad Pro 11 but the price difference was too close for me so I got the M1 iPad Pro 11. I just didn’t want A12X in 2021 either.
Face ID
Better screen
Higher refresh rate
Thunderbolt
Faster processor
Double the storage
Double the RAM
Center Stage
Better Cameras
Studio Microphones
I mean… that’s a lot of bang for your $200.
I bought the air 4 wi fi 256 gb model just a day or two after buying my first ever iphone , also a 256 gb storage , 12 pro max ,
i use the air 4 mostly for general browsing and watching media , the usual daily stuff , emails ,etc , the occasional tampering with a photo which works ok , or a bit of sketching stuff , grocerie lists , nothing overly heavy .
64GB is enough for me. The 128GB Pro is almost the same price as the Air. Why loose on all the features for $20 ??
At first I was going to go for the iPad Air but considering I want to get a more portable laptop replacement to do photo and video editing without always relying on my laptop or the smaller screen of the iPhone then the iPad Pro 11 inch sounds like a clear winner.
Why is there no Touch ID on the ipad pro??? I prefer the touch ID over face ID but when it comes to features, I'll choose the M1 ipad pro 11
Thank you for a great comparison. I think I'll go with the iPad Air 4, because I don't need the high end features, but I'm going to buy the 256 GB. With the difference in price, I'm going to get the Apple pencil 2 and a keyboard :-)
The difference in price with the Air 4 256gb and iPad Pro 11" is 50
@@DeZomer35 I ended up going with the Pro--the price difference wasn't much, and with the new M1 chip, it will give me longer life. Also got the Apple pencil and Logitech keyboard. LOVE THEM!!!! So happy!!!
@@margamadhuri7169 I see you got the pro, how many gb? I just ordered the pro 128gb but I’m worried it’s not enough storage.. what do you think?
@@4EverLover03 Hi Leslie, I got the big one, 256 gb. I decided that I keep my pads for a long time, and will regret having one that's too small more than I'd regret the extra cost. I love this pad, and love my apple pencil. Exactly what I was hoping for.
Just find the 1st or 2nd Gen iPad Pro 11". Way more value there. 120Hz makes such a massive difference.
I am watching this on my M1 IPad pro 11, and writing with the scribble feature, Iam happy with my choice.
I have an iPad 6. Should I upgrade to the Air 4 or stick with the iPad 6? Thank you for your time! I love the accessories videos for the Air 4
Am happy with the Air 4th gen. Since no real pro apps are available for iPad, the pro seems to be overpowered and overpriced
agreed, all I see is that the ipad pro is just more bigger and expensive..
So I guess your answer to this video would be "neither".
😂
I just won a 256gb ipad air 4 on ebay for $455, so I'm pretty stoked to get it and start using it. the air has everything I'll need (especially glad it has touch id since that's what I prefer)
thanks for the comparison of these two models :)
I've ordered the M1 iPad pro( 11 inch one )
as a long term investment, hope it lasts me years to come.
It will last at least 5 years
That’s why I went with the M1 11 Pro, if I’m going to spend $600 might as well spend a little more for a lot of extra specifications. I’ve heard the term overkill before and it always ended up meaning more futureproof.
Bought iPad Air 4 after watching this video. Thank you.
To hell with iPad Air. I got my iPad Pro 11inch 2021 with M1 chip - 256 GB for only 850$ Now the iPad Air buyers will cry.
I have watched some of your tablets reviews.
They are great man . Thank you . Keep up the great work 👍
Genshin Impact plays on the iPad Pro M1 without dimming the screen after 12 seconds, so obviously you have to go with the Pro. All the other stuff is moot. :) Great review by the way! I love your in depth reviews, it helps me tremendously in making purchasing decisions. It is because you do not focus on benchmarks, you focus on real world usage and that is all that matters.
I got the pro to get those extra years of feeling like I’m still using a high end device.
Same!
The dealbreaker for me for the iPad Air is definitely the 120hz display. It’s just so nice in my opinion. (Btw I have an iPad Pro 10.5 inch 2017 which is still good)
To me, that too and the 600 nit brightness.
If they could only attached the flashlight on the air 4 it wouldve been almost perfect.
I have the iPad Air 4, best. iPad. EVER!
I have already gotten the iPad Air that time it was very new and popular
Keep it up!
Congrats!
Your a smart kid as a 11 year old others kids would still want the more expensive thing but your good good boy
@@Levi4084 im not 11 but yeah thanks man!
@@antonrickert9427 no I meant I am 11 I said as a 11 year old and np
@@Levi4084 ohhh that makes sense. Wise words
i bought the pro about a week ago just for the m1 chip, im thinking about how long im going to use it instead of what im going to use it for within a year, i bought the pro thinking about if its going to last me through college and work for the next 4 or 5 years. It is a big investment but i think i made the right choice, future proofing with ios software and its also replacing a heavy laptop i had. I dont regret my decision at all.
Am I the only one who doesn’t plan on buying either ipads but still watches the video to see the cool things they have?
