  • I am absolutely in love with my newly painted french doors! It is amazing how paint can transform something old into something new. In this video, you can watch the steps I took to prep and paint these french doors without using painter's tape! It does take time and patience but with a positive mind set and a steady hand you can achieve this too.
    Let me know what you thought about the final look in the comments below!
    Supplies I used:
    -Household cleaners and detergents
    -Some sort of brush and rag to clean the doors
    -Orbit sander with 120 grit paper
    -Paint options
    -Paint brush, roller, pan
    -Razor blade

    Love how you just shaved off the paint rather than using painters tape. Also Leena you have one of the most soothing voices I have ever heard.

    I have this exact door and the paint was chipping off the gridded section and the door is scuffed like yours was. I was not sure it was salvageable! Thank you for the hope❤️

      Good luck, other than the door knob - the paint on the doors has lasted over a year now!

    Beautiful work!!! Gorgeous results. We are purchasing French doors for our den (natural wood) and we are going to paint them white. Loved your tip about no-masking and using a razor blade to remove the paint from the widows. I think that is the way we are going to go!

      Thank you! I am sure the paint would adhere to the natural wood doors you've bought wonderfully! Yes, I found it beneficial with the razor blade method and hope it works for you!

    What is that door color? Pretty

    Great job! My question is how does the middle paneling look in between the glass? I have some french doors that I want to paint black on both sides but I can only remove one side of the panels. I want to paint the back side of the too or else u will be able to see them through the glass. Any thoughts?

      Hello there @lawrence3, black would look so good! Although I am not sure how to paint the inner parts of the panels. I believe you would have to figure out a way to remove the panels from the door itself to paint all sides of it. My door is old and I tried to pop out the borders of the panels but it would crack so I opted for a lighter color instead. Good observation though if you were to paint it a darker color...I hope you find a solution for your project!!

    Paint cross bars 1st
    ...and Blue Masking Tape + Window Corner Tape is easier than going back w/a razor.

    How are your lock and door knob holding up? It would be good if you did a video on how to paint those! Great job!!

    • @diddyhayes
      @diddyhayes 4 роки тому +2

      You can easily replace those with a screwdriver. You shouldn’t paint doorknobs as they have moving parts.
      20 dollar will get you there

    • @leenavuor7049
      @leenavuor7049  4 роки тому

      Hey Janet, the paint on the door knobs only lasted a couple of months because my family is always opening and closing that door so it get's plenty of traffic to take off the paint from everyday wear and tear. I would also suggest the same like @diddyhayes to not paint the door knobs and just buy a new one in the color or finish you want. I've noted this video idea in my journal for the future . It would be good to let others know how the door knobs held up or how I am replacing it.

      @@diddyhayes Totally agree, it was a fail. It did look nice in the beginning, but due to the every day wear and tear and heavy traffic that door knobs get, it would be better to just replace it with something new.

    • @leenavuor7049
      @leenavuor7049  3 роки тому

      Hi Rita! I didn't paint the door jams but overall the paint is still there, I should probably give the doors and windows a wipe down though!
