    I only use lambswool rollers. They provide the best finish hands down. You can use 1/2 lambswool and the finish is better than a standard 3/8” cover. They hold twice as much paint as a 1/2” no wool roller cover and they take 1/2 of the time to clean. Microfiber is great but lambswool is better and if you can get your hands on a 3/8” lambswool that is the best, smoothest finish you will get and they last way, way longer than microfiber There is a reason why they are 3x the cost.

It doesn't look glossy the way i imagined even though its the 1st coat and hasn't dried yet. But still.. ughh i should've done more research before i started this project. I know! I used a woven 1/4" roller to prime my walls and it worked great. Less drippy than a 3/8" roller. The 1/4" one you showed was real thin looking.

    • @flannelguydiy6458
      @flannelguydiy6458  2 роки тому +2

      Yes the 1/4 is less drippy but it also needs to be dipped more often and potentially does not cover as well. It comes down to personal preference.

      My contractor used 1/2" on my new drywall. I hate it. It put so much texture on the walls- they look like they've been painted over so many times- like they're 50 years old. I'm so disappointed. Is there a way to fix this?

    • @phf1179
      @phf1179 Рік тому +1

      @@tcrwdr8209I did have walls that were 60 yrs +. Needed to remove and replace one wall with drywall. Obviously 2 different wall surfaces. Sanded older surfaces with with mechanical sander w/120, then 220. Fortunately it was a small bathroom and needed a lot of patience but the effort was worth it. Primed with 1/4 nap, 2 coats. Forgot to mention I tried to skim coat with topcoat mud but was very difficult due to the plaster wall having an uneven surface. Most of the sanded mud ended up on the floor.

    • @user-mc6dg6qe8l
      @user-mc6dg6qe8l 9 місяців тому

      @@tcrwdr8209 If you don't want texture skip the rollers and brushes and get it sprayed. Otherwise you may make demands but often painters have strong preferences and they won't like a sticky client who's so extreme.

      So far I've never had luck with foam as well. I believe you need to do very thin coats with them and they're better with oil based paints I believe. Go with a 1/4" next time. There's also velour and mohair, although those are not often used on walls. In addition, use a paint that levels out nicely. Or you can add a paint thinner but that does make it more difficult to apply because the paint looses some of its hang quality and you are more susceptible to drips. Lastly, don't overwork the paint. Hope everything worked out.

  • @zanaga1901

    What paint roller can you paint a vehicle with without no orange peel, lint free and no streaks. I used a foam roller before but it wasn't lint free but didn't end up painting my vehicle with it. I saw a video of someone using a brush on UA-cam too painting a vehicle it turned out good but never saw a product using a roller on a vehicle that doesn't have any orange peel when you painting with the roller and paint only without using mineral spirits or other stuff to thin the paint. I am getting a turbine sprayer soon to use for when I paint a vehicle but one day would wanna have a bigger air compressor for using sanders and other tools that need more air when using on a air compressor. Have 26 gallon air compressor and the air goes away fast that is a reason I purchased a turbine sprayer because need more air without getting a air compressor for painting a vehicle it should be coming in next week or two.

    I’m watching this cuz i just primed my bedroom but it looks like shit, even after 2 coats. The plastering work i did is still showing threw. Even tho i sanded it well. So i thought I’d watch a video about rollers to see if thats the problem. Looks like ill need to pick up thicker rollers to do the final coat. Especially for my ceiling that has texture. What im using now looks like the roller at 7:08 which i thought would have done a better job. Maybe its the actual primer i bought 🤷🏻. I’m just praying the final coat looks a hell of a lot better then this primer

    • @216Clevelander

      Water based primers don't cover well. 2 coats should be fine to get a whiter result. Don't worry how it looks because it's just primer, you will paint over it and will come out fine.

    Piece of advice, its NOT worth "washing" and reusing rollers Whether the cheap or the more expensive rollers, if you're painting anyones but your own house. Or if you really care about the quality of the paint job, an final result.
    You're better off buying a plastic roller preserver container or just wrapping the roller up in plastic ( plastic bag etc ), with maybe a small damp rag and/or paper towel.
    Which if wrapped well or with a little damp towelette, can stay good an entire week. An easily until an entire paint job is completed. Small or big rollers, especially if you're "using it" every other day or so and rewrapping it well with fresh paint.
    Although DON'T wrap it up while it's drenched with paint, wrap it up "after you use" and apply whatever paint has been soaked into it.
