Prosecutor cross-examines Amber Guyger in her murder trial

- Lead prosecutor Jason Hermus grilled her during cross-examination, focusing on a moment of her testimony when she said being alone with Jean after she shot him was the "scariest thing" she could imagine.
Guyger was the first witness her defense team called to the stand Friday. Speaking publicly for the first time since the shooting, Guyger talked about her childhood growing up in Arlington, her affair with her married police partner, her training as an officer and, most importantly, the night she says she confused Jean's apartment for her own at the South Side Flats, not far from police headquarters.
She killed an innocent man in his own home. Regardless of intent- she deserves prison time.

I'm not buying amber guyger's testimony one bit. If the first thing you do when you see an intruder is to shoot them 2 times then leave them there to die I think its obvious you had a intention to kill them. What ever happened to "put your hands up, what are you doing in my house". That's what most normal people would do.
Cops are so pathetic. Their high school graduates hyped up to kill
On the other hand, if this was pre-meditated murder, this was a really lousy way to go about doing it. Doesn't make any sense. I think someone who had no place in ever being a police officer happened to have no common sense and made an awful mistake. She said herself that she was scared, and she showed that she abandoned her police training at the time of a crisis. That's not police material.

He's got her on that one: Her "lie" is that she determined an uninvited party was present in "her apartment" before the door was completely open. What person, with or without police training, is going to determine it's a good idea to enter? On duty or off duty matters not when you are carrying a weapon as a sworn public servant. You are held to a higher level of conduct regardless of how many hours you just worked. Despite this being an honest mistake--if you believe her entire story--it is a crime.

Pansy Blackwell they regret it now
How long do think Amber will get
She said she shot Botham at a straight angle. The Medical Examiner said Bothman was shot at a DOWNWARD angle. GUILTY! As far as I'm concerned, this trial is over.
This problem will always continue as long as the "off duty" police officer exists. Once you're off the clock, you're off the clock.
Take away their guns
I'll guarantee they will start acting like a human being real quick!
Get a civilian job first be an American hardworking American taxpayer before you go and mooch of the American Taxpayers in Government services!
Rest in peace Botham Shem Jean. A life taken by someone who swore to 'serve and protect'.
Mz Lee period.
She needs life without parole! She did not give him any aid & she called the married man she was having an affair with who happened to be her partner on the force ! Instead of an ambulance.
Lmao i love how he makes her agree with him that the man would still be alive
@J Will thanks for replying, no idea how i would have approached replying to griffin lmao. Most peoples moral definitions of whats right/wrong, justifiable/unjustifiable are "normal", but its a very fine line
@J Will The Griffin is not dumb, it's just his opinion.
@J Will There's no need for me to look up the definition, you and I both know the definition of 'opinion'
So she put the key in but because it wasn’t her apartment the key didn’t work. Botham opens the door and she shoots him!?
This case never made sense to me. I believe it was a hit.
She lived there for 8 weeks, shoots this guy and moves back to Arlington???....not adding up.
Watch the trial or at least read about it, nothing you said happen and the first thing the prosecutor said was his door was ajar, she still murdered him, just not as simple as you put it.
The doors in those apartments self close and self lock so if your key doesn't work, you're not getting in unless someone opens the door
The door was not locked, it was open just a bit.
@@KhanhTran-pf1qm again those doors self close and self lock so the door was not open
@@taylorgreg752 What I'm saying is do you have to push the door shut
He was young, black, and smart. I wonder if that "somehow" played a part.
It was a hit. Maybe he was on to something, something big. Probably discovered how to heat water without any of the globalist devices our fuel.
I mean my dude was sitting on the couch eating ice cream...couldn’t tell him to raise his hands?...
Was his apartment decorated like hers😳when she got inside, and saw that it wasn't her apartment why didn't she leave. Why didn't she call for help, if she thought someone was inside her apartment. She's intended to kill this young man.
Everyone apartment smells different, my question is how didn't she notice that the moment she took her first step inside.
@@jason4275 Preposterous, but let's say your correct. Let's say that there are LOTS of trials whereby olfactory experts testify about the different smells of each apartment. All Amber would have to say is she had a cold or flu. Why don't you become an olfactory expert for trials such as this one?
@@NeverTalkToCops1 At the trial Amber could say that she had the flu, but the prosecutor would ask for further proof from everyone connect to her, her fellow officers, family members, neighbors, if she said anything about having the flu or common cold, they would also check her social media, store cameras, credit card receipt, if she bought any medicine, if the defendant can't prove that she was actually sick, then it won't hold up in court, this is going to be a interesting case, because this is a one of a kind case, because makes no sense how something like this can happen, or there's another side of Amber story she's not sharing, because it's very hard to believe that people don't lock their front doors in an apartment, a house makes sense, but apartments in a pro gun state, an apartment with no security cameras on every floor does not.
It was a huge, disaster and costly mistake. One adage says don't dig the hole too deep for your enemy because you don't know who is going to fall in it. It is a lifetime mistake that she will never forgive herself.
Thank you. Most these commentators are mob mentality.
Hopefully she has the rest of her life in prison to forgive herself
+Helen Johnson
The "mob" mentality is with the police unions and their long history of evil and sanctioned killings of people, with black people being the #1 target. This mess is part of a structural problem that goes back to slave patrols, Jim Crow, town destroying and race riots.. Things that Botham probably knew nothing about since he was from the island of St. Lucia and the history of policing in the West Indies is different. The poor young man was AMBUSHED and SLAUGHTERED under the NEW Jim Crow, so cut the *bullshit* !
It was not a mistake, she purposely killed that man. She went to his apt. To murder that man. For some grudge that she had against him. He lived right above her and she had complained that he was making too much noise with singing and playing loud music and who knows what else.
@Joe Blow Thank you. The person who called cops on Botham and Joshua earlier that evening was not named and cops said there was a noise complaint, that was it.
Looks like Botham Jean is gonna get his justice. Next up will be the civil suite for wrongfull death.
This is just sad
You gotta give it up to the prosecutor. Police officers are trained at length in giving testimony. This was no small task for the prosecutor but he nailed it.
Is this really 2019? Smh no wonder aliens dont visit us smh
MyStores YourStore 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I think the main focus of police training is "how to lie and cover up 101"
I worked a ton of 16 hour shifts, always found my truck, always found my home, tired as hell and over it...but found my way home.
I’ve definitely walked into the wrong car.
I'm no attorney, but it really looks like she just got BBQ'd.
If the prosecutor put on anything less of a show, there would be problems, at least in the court of public opinion. This was all scripted, IMO. Manslaughter, 7 years. Place your bets.
She could of taken cover & waited for backup . But she wanted to kill someone . She is guilty as charged . Give her life .
I bet she didnt talked like that to the normal citizens!
She didn’t fear for her life, she like most cops are above the law and was gonna show him in the worst way that she is above it
She probably made a pass at him and he rejected her. A woman's scorn...
I think the poor guy that got killed saw her and the married guy together....and she tought he would tell on them 🤔🤔🤔 so she got rid of loose ends 🤷🏻♂️
It doesn’t matter if she gets convicted. At the end of the day, she still has her life, while Botham does not.
This is like a reverse OJ Simpson trial where the white blonde woman is hoping to get off scot-free after killing a black man.
When being a side chick goes wrong
Lock her up and trow away the key!
Yes sir, I'm GUILTY 👀
She didn't even talk to him? Immediately shoots?
She was not scared, she went in like she was going to save the day. So all that crying she doing now, does not prove she was scared for her life the night it happened. Her actions says she wasn’t scared at all, never attempted to call for backup with her radio, that she still had on her.
Ever walk into another home for the first time? You immediately notice the new odors.
No you most certainly do not. No "odor expert" is even testifying in this trial. So much for all these comments about odors.
@@NeverTalkToCops1 It's common sense. No expert needed.

Why you put the key in the door if you noticed the door was cracked open. Someone is forgetting to keep up with the same story.
Okay, respect DMN. Thank you for posting both ends of the story.
Amber's quote , They should be Thanking me! i let them Live to see another day! What about Botham? He didnt see the next day.
How did her keys work in his door
They didn't, his door was broken and didn't close correctly. So not only was it unlocked it was ajar a little bit.
The door was actually unlocked and ajar. She went to put her key in the door and the door opened without her turning the key, it freaked her out and reacted. That's the "story" they are telling. I believe she was fed up with her neighbor with all the noise coming from his apartment above, was out with a couple of coworkers having a few drinks after her shift and made the decision to shoot him in cold blood.
@@squidfizzy the door at that apartment complex are self closing they close by themselves
The door was unlocked, and she said when she tried to unlock it, it pushed open.

She's going to jail, because what a terrible precedent this would set if she got off. How many police officers would claim they were in the "wrong apartment?" Lock your doors people!!!!
