A firearm is called lethal force for a reason, it’s always potentially lethal. Discharging your firearm is acknowledging your intent to cause lethal injuries. There is no such thing as shooting to injure, cops are trained that if you are shooting your weapon, it is in a situation where lethal force is required.

She is going get it reduced to manslaughter on appeal, I don't think she shot him maliciously she was a small woman on the streets and she was probably physically afraid most of the time working, that fear drove her to overreact and tiredness also played into it.

Recently had a "similar issue" (between quotes because they were unable to get in) a security guy I believe. Dressed in civilian clothes, open carrying a handgun. Tried to open my door, and then tried his key. I saw him through the peep whole. Saw the gun, asked him what he wanted. "Oh wrong apartment" and quickly moved to the third floor (his actual apartment). Idk how you would confuse your apartment in the third floor with mine in the second with a ring camera right next to the door whereas yours doesn't have one. Thankfully my paranoia of viciously locking every entrance to the house and barricading my windows stopped my neighbor from getting in. I look at this case and I wonder what would've happened if my door was unlocked.

If she in anyway felt guilty, she should have plead guilty and asked for forgiveness. That might save her from getting the chair. Pleading not guilty and using self defense will probably push the prosecution to argue for the max sentence or even the death penalty.

A few times I've approached the wrong vehicle; I thought it was mine. The first time it happened out in a random parking lot, I thought I had opened the doors using the keyless entry, and I lifted open the back hatch.
When I opened the hatch, it only took 1/2 second to know with absolute certainty: this was not my car (and especially because someone was sitting inside it!!). I quickly apologized, closed the hatch, and looked for my car.
Reflecting back, I knew this wasn't my car even before I touched the hatch to open it, even though by all accounts it was virtually identical to mine. It just didn't 'feel' like mine....the energy was different. The next time I approached the wrong car in yet a different parking lot, it took less time to realize my mistake.
And I'm not a police officer. And these cars were in different parking lots in front of different stores, not like a home which doesn't move.

Guyger only used her lethal training and not her life saving training. Between all of the "accidents" and outright murders that have occurred over the last several years the cry for the retraining and restructuring of the police and judicial departments should be deafening.
