Bro his videos are pretty in depth he’s also dropped only a video about 1 or 2 a year so he’s probably learning more and becoming better at explaining and showing things. I don’t think the sponsor is responsible for him just being good at what he does but I’m sure the money doesn’t hurt him being able to continue dropping awesome videos.
This video just got suggested to me. Really glad I watched. I’m touched and so happy to see the WiiX completed. ❤ Thank you Ginger, you’re a real one. Great work!
Same, i want to get into this stuff, but I literally dont know anything about boards or soldering, but i do wanna learn. Sadly i don't know how to even start learning about this :( If anyone has any advice on how i could start learning about this it would be appreciated ;-;
Im such a huge fan of all of the portable consoles and all of the knowledge behind it is so cool looking, but I always never take the leap to learn more so it was cool for him to teach even the smallest details.
Oh man! Thank you for this video. I taught myself soldering over the past year and a half to make wireless controller mods for Nintendo DS's. And I really always admired you and the peeps at Bitbuilt! I will definitely start with an Ashida.
you and shank almost don't upload at all but all of your videos are well made that i just watch them multiple times video cuz they're rich with info, the explainations of "how this thing work" or "why did i do this/why do i have to do this" are amazing, i LOVE the the WiiBoy Color video.
The Ashida you created is literally the most beautiful handheld I've ever seen!! I love it sm because pink is my fav and the GameCube controller is also my favorite of all time (much more comfortable than the damn joycons). Literally never soldered anything in my entire life but now I'm determined. I'm gonna make the Ashida, I WILLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!
These videos just fill me with an indescribable urge to learn about the INs and OUTs of electronics just to understand what's going on in the videos and enjoy the show.
Hi Ginger, just roaming into your channel after ps 2 build video. the one I can say is, your video quality is super great. it is bring back memory of youtube video around 2015, I mean the best youtube era I think. when all the creator are highly passionate to share their work. the joke, the scripting, editing and your tone color also represent as well. like your video vibe so much. thanks!
I remember the old days of portableizing before 3d printers and custom pcbs. People used to take plastic lunch boxes and Lazer Doodle toys and cut them up and merge them with controllers with epoxy to make cases.
These things always amaze me. I love projects like this, I have no skill to do it myself but I'm always fascinated. I'd love to see more stuff from you beyond just the wii.
I have a Gboy kit I still have yet to put together (planning to after the semester, it would be my first portabilizing project) and this is so cool and inspiring, thank you❤
I just completed my first Wii portable, the Ashida, last night. I'm now looking into building another portable Wii. It was a challenging project for sure, but super rewarding. Thank you for all your videos over the years.
I love the Ashida Wii. But I would love to see a Subboard made for portablising the Wii. A board that has everything on it. Powerboard, buttons, toggle switch, power button, Screen, WiFi, Bluetooth, HDMI out, battery connectors, controller port, amp. Like the Oleg Endo mod for the Sega Nomad and the IPS Screen mods for the DMG Gameboy. Instead of having to source separate boards and having to make it all work together by soldering dozens of wires. A board that is clean, wireless with solder on ribbon cables for the motherboard instead of having a nest of Kynar wires. Having a Subboard maybe expensive, but it will make it much more DIY friendly and much more neat.
You give gamer-geeks a very good name. Excellent delivery, clear and concise without coming off as condescending. You make me want to make one of them crazy cool things. Subbed for sure and looking forward to more great videos.
Man, I love the International Superstar Soccer 64 menu music in the background on the Spencer build. So many fun memories playing with my little brother as a child.
As much as I love seeing portables in general , the Ashida is the first one I'm actually contemplating trying to build one day! Amazing and seemingly friendlier (in the ways that are possible).
2:32 those bright pink batteries are 18650s right? You could find sets of sleeves real cheap and even whole packs of different colors for under $20 easy. They're easily applied, I'd imagine you have a heat gun and that's all you need. I used a hair dryer myself for awhile. It's not that important or anything but incase you use 18650s a lot some extra sleeves could come in handy.
one of linus media groups' short circuit channels' recent video first impression, was of a 5 head 3d printer, you could load different colours to each of the five outputs, and the moving part would move over automatically and, using magnets, attach itself to one of the five heads, but when finished with it, it can detach that head back from whence it came and then go pick up another head, with a different colour loaded in it.
I actually woul love to see a video about casting controller buttons ! Especially the rubber cap part. I love resin casting, but I have no clue how you would make a mold for a rubber cap, and what type of rubber to use... Urethane rubber ? Is the cap removable to cast it ? I've got questions ! ^^
UA-cam was trying to get me to watch the portable gamecube video again, and I was like 'fine that video was good, did the guy upload anything new' and I check and literally the first new video in a year, I guess I'm destined to subscribe
Great showcase Ginger! What 3D printer do you use? I've been meaning to get back into my portablizing attempts for year and also need an excuse to buy a 3d printer
I personally use a Prusa Mk3, although some of the recent printers from Bambu are a really good value. The next time I upgrade, it'll likely be to a Bambu printer
Fair point, but I find that it usually takes a lot of time for that to happen. That's definitely the move if you're painting something that you'll handle a lot on the daily.
Random question, do you know if there's a way to force the portables with wider screens to output at 4:3 with black bars? That's something I've noticed on almost every video that has a portable wii in it, they always show gamecube games stretched to a wider aspect ratio. Wondering if it's like, a limitation of the screens themselves, or something else
It's like playing with Nintendo Legos. People who understand and can implement this type of engineering are geniuses. I wish I had the imagination to develop such a concept. Great video and I would die for that device. I never liked using the Wii controllers so this would have been a perfect solution. I just would not be able to comprehend building it, I know there are directions but still it is some intricate work being put in all while using tiny tools. Congrats btw 🎉 you are awesome ❤
