The Chase Bliss Audio Thermae is absurdly good. It's a pitch shifting analog delay with an incredibly unique sonic profile, tons of controls, and is just an all around good time. This video will take a surface-level look at some basic features and sounds, but there is quite a bit more outside of what I show here! Let me know if you're interested in a deeper dive.

Love watching people enjoying the Thermae, it was the first CB pedal I wanted. I had to wait a year before one became available (bought 3 other CB pedals in the meantime🙄). Finally got one, it blew me away, it’s like being accompanied by angels, a glorious musical box 😁

I thought there was modular versions of some of their stuff. Maybe they were just one offs, special made for certain people.
I really wish they’d do another release of the Thermae, as they sell for so much, on the used market.

Should’ve bought it when it was a $399 new release. I saved up, but they stopped making them, snd the used market was already $100-$200 more than the new price.

I only have the Habit, but this was the first Chase Bliss pedal I had ever seen years ago and I’ve so longed for one but never had one available when I had the money or had money when one was available…no other pedal works those pitch shifted delays that sound so lush and beautiful, and your video is the first I’ve seen the explanation why. For a long time I thought it was discontinued, but if I could add this (along with a Blooper and GenLoss2) with my Habit and Microcosm (my only 2 pedals aside from the Boss RC-202 looper) to my setup it would be the dream pedalboard for the glitchy, spacey, deteriorating ambient soundscapes I want to create that I hear in my head

    • @SlowHaste

@@ichidome I’m actually putting together a video with the Habit and Generation Loss MKii (I picked one up since the original comment) and an eKalimba and it’s a really fun pedal to work with. It’s like a delay with a buffer scanner for a 3 minute loop. The eKalimba makes it’s usual notes, but can be a percussive instrument as well and the Habit plays nicely with those sounds intermingling

Isn’t it though? I’ve played around with a few other digital pedals that can achieve a similar effect, and though I’ve never participated in the “analog vs digital” war, something about this particular pedal’s tone is super special to me compared with its digital counterparts

Rad demo, I think some people with negative comments here are unable to “see the forest for the trees.” This pedal with subtle amounts spilling into another milder washy delay then a big reverb will create epic movement in ambient tones

They’re definitely different, I think the Microcosm can do quite a bit “more”, but the Thermae has such a unique quality to it and makes sounds I really can’t get anywhere else. I’d pick Thermae if I could only have one, but just because it’s more my style!

Only unusable to closed minded people :P It's definitely usable for a lot of applications. Don't need to use the sequencer, then you have a nice BBD delay with modulation. If you want to use the sequencer, then you can get into ambient / experimental side.
