Thanks 😊 really helped break down whats samplers are!
Hi. I'm Andy, and I suffer from GAS.
良いサウンドですね👍
Can i edit on Blackbox the Single tracks from Digitakt, syntakt etc. Or is it one file in Blackbox Thanks for answering and sorry for my Bad Englisch
You can record each individual input to an SD card and it will save as a separate .wav file!
dude I just got my digitakt (OG) today and was alread huffing and puffing at how to use this thing and you are a life saver today! can't wait to watch more of your videos.
So stoked for ya! Glad the videos are helpful :)
Late to the party but this track is BANANAS!! Like, 🔥🔥🔥! Subbed!!
So glad you’re into it, thanks for the sub!
My biggest synth is Arturia PolyBrute. And I'm not even using it. So far...
A candle at day beside a digitone... ok... 😅
in the middle of August, nonetheless lollll. (real reason: I always use clips of these vids for short-form social media. So I do a little set-dressing, as those platforms are more visually focused!)
@@SlowHaste i enjoyed ur video! Thanks 🤗
Thank you very much for these wisdom pearls! I love the idea of panning on the digitakt, but as I'm someone who tends to play live in fairly DIY spaces, I can't guarantee that there will be enough DIs for me to go in stereo (as I usually play with several other musicians and DIs are in demand!) . As the L out isn't set up to be a default mono out, is there a way to change this? As I wouldn't want to programme a load of panning and then find out I can only use the left channel, which isn't the whole mix. Thank you again!
I would have to consult the manual to confirm that, but another solution would be to save a copy of the project/pattern with neutral panning. That way you’d have a backup copy just in case you’re able to run stereo!
@@SlowHaste Good point, thank you!
This is so inspiring. And I was surprised to see you weren’t even midi syncing. Thanks so much for posting this
Thanks! It’s surprising how much you can get away with just using tap tempo (at least in a studio setting)
it's worth noting that Michael Jackson was not an instrumentalist but he was able to arrange songs in his mind and tell the studio players exactly what to play. That was his process and no one can claim that he wasn't a creative genius. Do you man!
imo if you stack 7 loops together and tweak them to suit your taste and the result is something no one has ever heard before, then it belongs to you. tons of old school guys sampled chords because they couldn't play them themselves and they faced the same criticisms. i kinda feel like the distinction between a single chord hit and a 1 bar progression is totally arbitrary. at the end of the day you're assembling things that suit your taste.
I totally agree about the chord thing! So many chord progressions are recycled to death, but the originality of songs using them are never questioned
I know this video is a little old now, but I noticed your Bluebox and would be curious to know how you like it and if you’re still using it. I got a TX-6 but am thinking the Bluebox might be better for my use case.
Yo! I still have & love the Bluebox. It’s small & portable & easy to set & forget. I really quite enjoy it
@@SlowHastethanks so much!
so it's diGGital? New type of synth? Seriously?
Seriously
Great video. The only problem for me is that I'm about 20 steps behind what you're doing and can't keep up. Yeah - I know - that's my problem and not yours! 😁
Hahah, thanks for watching!
11:36 ROYGBIV
And here I ride my bike until I get lost before I even pull any gear out of my backpack.
This is a great video, which actually clearly lays out how you put together the track. I'm looking to try a groovebox that I can get up and running on, but is also deep enough to give it longevity. But was intimidated by the OT's reputed learning curve. There's a lot of YT demos out there with very "busy" tracks, so I've no idea how the OT is being used on those. But, this video makes it a lot clearer, that I could start using the OT as a groovebox, and learn deeper functions as I go.
Thanks for watching, I'm glad it was useful :)
The explanation about samplers and synth in the beginning is so clear. Ty for that
Thanks for watching!
Thanks so much for this. Can you play all 4 patches of the Digitone polyphonically like this? And if I want to sample sounds and need the inputs from the Digitakt can this be done via inputs from the Digitone??? Thanks for any help...
Bought it a year ago. Filter cutoff doesn't work anymore. When i hit record in my daw, it basically mutes. There's a faint signal, but it basically renders this thing useless when you can't record anything. Dont know what went wrong.
Sorry to hear! You should reach out to Korg to see if they’d help troubleshoot
I made it to the end. it tiook me 3+ years to get here. but I'm here now, & that's all there really is. right? anyway... great vid. I love this sort of demo. bravo!!
Hahah I’m glad you finally finished it!
@@SlowHaste well... it took me the 3+ years to find the vid, & then start the dang thing. but to finish it... well, that only took... well, however long the video is, silly. ;-P
@@fallprecauxionsmusic hahah I gotcha, I definitely thought you started the vid 3 years ago and just got around to finishing it 😆
@@SlowHaste I could tell that was what you were thinking. I had to clear that up. that one was well worth finishing in a single serving. ;-)
It is so good I've thought of getting a second one to pair them up.
Not a bad idea 😈
Absolutely no, Electron = operating systems from hell. Old Akai (anything made before the MPC 4000, including the racks) is the way to go.
Ok!
That kick though! Maybe a vid on your layering, filtering, and reverb used to make that ELITE kick drum!?
Thanks!! I’ll add it to the idea list :)
@@SlowHaste Anytime! Have the A4 and Rytm and even with the new digitakt im looking at the OT MK2!
Use the arp for rolls
How much for the dust? in 100 years it might be priceless 😄
Hahahah exactly
Such a great video man, It was awesome to hear the sample manipulation and was already thinking of ways to add drums and then you suddenly said “now let’s add a drum track” and it was like you read my mind 😅
Hahaha that’s awesome, glad you liked it!
@@SlowHaste Out of curiosity do you still have the octatrack mk 2 and are you still doing lessons ? I’m looking to get one soon , so i’m pretty much binging your octa videos.. the digitakt two isn’t really convincing me for sample manipulation. it’s 1k but i feel like I can get an octa mk2 for that much.
@@NealCaen I do still have it and I am still doing lessons! I’d be happy to set something up if you end up with one and are interested
This is the first time I saw this channel and I really love how you explain who would want the things you are reviewing based on the workflow. The sounds of a synth can be seen on many other channels, there is no shortage of that but the principle of how music is made on the gadgets is harder to find in videos.
I’m glad you found it useful! Thanks for watching :)
I love the sound of this synth - a simple osc wave on this sounds so much nicer than the same sound on just about any other synth....
It truly is lovely!
Literally none of these are synth or synth pedals.
it has flexible keys
Sounds so cool! 😊
Thanks!
God I love your Music..so you read the manual and made this track in 2 weeks..😮 are you using a trhu machine for your guitar?
I read the manual as I was deciding if I wanted to purchase the OT or not. So I got a bit of a jump start! and yep, I used a thru machine to track the guitar part
@@SlowHaste you can slice in the audio editor when using a thru machine? I’m sorry I ask a lot of questions..
@@paulandreas7955 Yes, if you save the audio recorded to the buffer via a thru machine, you can slice it up!
starfox 64! epic! i always see candles in your videos, what brand is it? they look like they smell good
Thanks! Hmm, I have a variety of them and go through them rather quickly hahah. I get a lot from Target tbh!
great vid Dan, where do you get your samples from?
Thank you! These are mostly from Splice, I’ve spent many hours diving through packs and curating a good batch!
@@SlowHaste thanks a lot ❤
Right now I use a beatstep pro and a keystep pro to sequence a drum machine, a few hardware synths, and some VSTs. I am considering dropping my beatstep and getting an elektron device and I have a question about the sequencer. Is the sequencing going to be the same on the Digitakt and Digitone when it comes to using it with external gear? I would like to use it to sequence my RD-9 and Neutron.
Decent and way overpriced pedal from a company run by weirdos and freaks…
That sounds amazing! It truly slaps.
Thanks!!
wow! is there any additional distortion to it or just super 6?
Just the super 6!
I use a similar antidote; prove to myself that I can’t do such and such with the gear I have. If I can, then I use it that way for a while to see if I need something better or find that the such and such isn’t all the interesting after all.
nice its the same like using an octatrack as master brain for external midi gear.
MC 707
MC 707
Nice use of the spring reverb!
Thanks! It’s not-so-subtly voiced on the OT, but I think it adds a unique character when used tastefully
♥
you can so tell this guy is gay his face expression are a dead give away
Is the whale your spirit animal? i love your channel by the way 😊
Thanks so much! I inherited a little gold whale paperweight from my grandma when she passed away, and have always just been drawn to them 🐋
@@SlowHaste Me too! i have two question Dan: (im new to the elektron world) 1)where do you buy your cables? 2)would you make a little tutorial on how to program drums on the digitone? oh, and love your grizzly bear poster ;)
@@paulandreas7955 loooove grizzly bear! I got these cables from Amazon (but a local music store would probably be better). I go over drums a bit on the video I’ll link below, but I typically don’t use the Digitone for drums! ua-cam.com/video/RrKYF_4Hl00/v-deo.htmlsi=SnNnhIcV-Eb6Q31J
