    Despite being only in a handful of episodes Kehylar was one of my favorite characters. It would've been great to see her appear in more episodes, her death was really sad and shocked me when I first saw it. I think that's a credit to the actor and writers, she felt like a character I spent several seasons with rather than a few episodes.

    Those automatic doors on the Enterprise have the best AI ever.
    They knew that Picard would not answer her question, so remained open to allow her to leave. But, elsewhere, they can walk right up to the door and, if not intending to pass through the door yet, as they're having a discussion, the doors know not to open just yet.
    It's almost as if the ship's computer has already read the script...

    • @NoogahOogah
      @NoogahOogah 3 роки тому +7

      I mean, that’s probably a pretty trivial task for computers in the 24th century. The Enterprise computer monitors everything. That’s how it knows in a split second where anyone is on the ship, and what they’re doing. It’s not far fetched to assume the doors are intelligent.

    • @Shiirow
      @Shiirow 3 роки тому +10

      most modern sliding doors have a censor that detects the presence of an object and will remain open as long as there might be a possible obstruction. its usually a safety feature so the door doesnt snap shut and hurt anyone. to act like there might not be a better version of this in like 400 years is absurd.

    Beautiful in many ways. First she challenges him to have courage in speech, too. That allows her to open up, too.
    Then he makes it clear that he is so honorable that he goes against his strong desires, and he understands that what others think matters, and while adults can deal with that more easily, the boy would not have that advantage. It could be hell for him. By choosing not to be there as his father, he is being a good father
    Then she offers a beautiful compromise, all the practical results without the official backing.
    Then again... if Alexander had grown up with a discommended father, that experience might also have strengthened his character. But that might also have dissuaded him from living in the klingon empire and instead preferring to live among humans. But Worf probably thinks about his own pain of discommendation and doesn't want Alexander to experience the same. - And he might become an important figure in the empire at some point. Complex story opportunities.
    Thinking long-term, it might gradually build a suspicion, though, if Worf interacts with Alexander and his mother, 'just as friends', but one would wonder who the boy's father then is.

    Worf was so ridiculously stubborn here. Yes, his family has been dishonored but if Duras had won the chancellorship then that would have been irrelevant. No way in hell does Worf let a son of his live in an empire run by Duras, dishonor or not. Not even Kurn would have been safe in that situation. If Gowron had won, the threat of the Duras family significantly diminishes as they have no heir (known of at least) and he could petition Gowron with the truth (which he later does anyway). I get the plot of it but he could have easily "wed" K'Ehleyr and dealt with his dis-commendation later.

      Fact is she had cold feet first. Worf was trying to make sure that if his son wanted to live in the Empire he'd be able to do so without having his honor and status in society nuked. K'Ehleyr respected that even if she didn't understand. But Worf not telling her what had really happened is unfortunately what led her down the path that would get her killed. K'Ehleyr was unyielding, a normal thing in a Klingon woman.
