Ed was so underrated as a writer and a player. Ronnie knew it and not until he found Steve Gaines was Skynyrd complete after Ed left. I cried when i learned of Eds passing. He seemed like such a genuine and kind person too to go with that talent.
RIP Ed King. He’s another legend that’s gone but not forgotten.
Turn it up, Marty! More Skynyrd & CCR, please.
That first guitar is definitely legendary without a doubt!
Thanks for checking out the video! TONS of cool guitars so stick around for the whole video. If you want to jump right to Ed King's Iconic Strat head to 6:59
Which riff is this ?
I wonder if he ed wrote "I need you" with it as well. He had said it was the very next song they made after sweet home on his first day as the third guitarist. Great video Marty love your work!
Another top video Marty, so many great guitars, really digging Bo's guitar. Superb man.
Please tell me what the riff at the end is or make a tutorial.
Great guiternview
I watched your interview with Ed King last night. What a great guy he was. I found it kinda funny that he thought that that guitar was a piece of crap, but it's now "priceless". 🙄
Your playing at the end is so beautiful it makes me cry,
I love how thorough this was. Thank you for showing and talking about all of these wonderful instruments with so much history!
Would love to see a lesson on don't fear the reaper by blue oyster cult
Darryl Wallace it needs more cowbells.😎🤣
He actually did a lesson long ago on another channel that was the video that taught me how to play that song
Maybe you should go to a channel that does B.O.C .
Bro every time something bad happens that song comes on and makes me feel worse. It never fails. I hate that song so much 😂
That's cool, did you know that solo came to him in his dream?
And speaking of that, Sweet Home Alabama solo lesson would be awesome
Marty, this was also a cool video. Neat to see Ed Kings original Strat, since I had just watched the video of you with Ed King at his home there in Nashville. When I go to visit with my son, I believe I'll swing in there & take a look. Thanks again Marty...
eye can sense u traveling back in time playing that last guitar.. eye can feel ur joy and happiness and peace holding that guitar eye can see it in ur smile and the way u look at the guitar.. ur a beautiful creature Marty. just got an amp to learn guitar and rock out! THANK YOU
😂that first guitar surprised me
Hey Marty, Thank you for giving us a guided tour through Carter's Vintage guitar shop. They definitely have some unique guitars and basses.
I’ve been to Carter’s and it’s an amazing place, when I went I got to play a ‘63 strat and it was AWESOME
Eddie’s passing just shows the importance of Marty work capturing the essence of the original and then educating the rest of us around the globe, in lessons both on and off the instrument. Many thanks Marty from Oz
Besides your awesome lessons this is my next favorite series of videos that you do. Please keep it up and look forward to the next video!
Awesome video! Carters is probably my favorite guitar store. Cool
That Ro-Pat-In sounded sweet!
Marty, is that an old Tacoma above your right shoulder? You and Rhett Shull are killing it with these Carter's videos.
Thanks Marty & Walter. Lots of candy behind you.
I live in Gainesville FL. Home of Bo Diddley & Tom Petty and more. R.I.P. Brothers. We live by Bos cemetery. Big monument.
I've had the privilege to party with bo's family. bo diddley plaza. Lots of concerts there. Loads of fun. Peace
Lucky boy! I’d kill to play that strat Ed used, that should definitely be in a museum. Thanks for your vids Marty, especially your interview with Ed!
Ok, you've gone and done it. Yesterday, I watched the Ed King guitar video. Today, I watched this one. I guess I'm gonna binge every interview with guitar history type video that I can find here, on your channel
At any rate, thanks for posting these. It's memories that take me back to the 60's and the Lettermen, Beach Boys, Beatles, and the list goes on. Ok, I'm off to search for more vids!
Great vid as always!!!! I demand lots of mandolin bass vids. 🤟😎🤟
A guitar with a built in CD player! 😆 Bonkers!
Awesome!
RIP Ed King, a true legend
Dear Lord, that first guitar is like and over fed BC Rich!
Wow, Marty! Just, wow! This was awesome! Love the history lessons.
Great video Marty! That Gibson guitar that you both played at the end was freaking unbelieveable! Truly amazing instrument. I wish that you would have mentioned the prices of all of those guitars. Also, given his knowledge of the stories behind those instruments, Walter should write a book about all of those vintage guitars.......................... 👍👍🎸🎸👍👍
Sapele Steve
Mr. Carter has written numerous books about vintage guitars and mandolins.
I do agree that it would make an excellent book if wrote one specifically about the most significant instruments that have come through the store in the seven years they have been open. As someone who lives near Nashville a visits this store on a regular basis I say that they have had(and currently do have) a lot of interesting instruments in addition to the ones featured in this video. The same goes for amps too which is my gear obsession.
On a side note, Mr. Carter “co-wrote” Gruhn’s Guide to Vintage Guitars.
Beautiful guitars
My god! Thats incredible!!
Awesome Marty!! What an adventure that would be .. Loved the King Strat.. only heard him talking about in your previous vid... Ed showed you how to play that Sweet Home run that everyone gets wrong.. you still did.. but I absolutely think this is wonderment!! The first Ric... one of the first Gibby’s... 110%👍
That strat has such a warm tone
that old acoustic sounds so beautiful
I only came here for Ed King's Sweet Home Alabama guitar
That’s funny the other day I saw a Rhett Shull video and he got to play it too when he visited the store, you guys are some lucky people.
awwww man what an amazing place maybe one day I'll get over there
That guitar belongs in a museum.
Pirate Labs
All of the instruments in this video are suitable for being in a museum, but they were made to be played and enjoyed so hopefully that what the future owners will do with them.
I will say that museums like Songbirds in Chattanooga that actually let people play the instruments is a brilliant best of both worlds concept.
New guitar player. Love the video lesson.
Sounds great
Oh man that was awesome! Thanx Marty.
Awwww Marty! That LS riff really gets me going!!! 😁😉😙
Pretty cool seeing Marty on the upright. 👊🏾
Dude !!! Love how you just made the strings sing on Ed's guitar. Peace
Hi Marty how you doin i love your guitar lessons
Carter's and Gruhn's are by far my favorite stores in the world.
Thank God for folks like Mr. Carter he is a custodian of history. What a great job!
If you ever want to see the face of pure happiness, watch Marty play the outro. Sick video dude!!
Marty’s having an eargasm
Great teacher, got the fever again... thanks bro
That first guitar looks like it belongs in the store in guitar hero 3
Nice bro gracias por tus enseñansas
Wow. Walter's eyes are the most amazing blue I've ever see
Love watching these videos again but in your interview with Ed he said that it was bridge and middle pick up spot!
He didn't WRITE it on that guitar, he RECORDED it on that.
Any suggestions for my first electric guitar I want to learn how to play Nirvana type music. My budget is around 150 or 200
I second the other person’s opinion of Squier Strat(or Tele) especially if you can find a used Classic Vibe or Vintage Modified model in your price range.
Your price range would get you a brand new Affinity Series Squier, but the next step up in the Squier brand is a significant improvement. That being said the Affinity Series is great for the price.
I need this guitar😂😍
What’s the song at 9:46 ?
Hey Marty! Top fan here 💯🔥
whats up Marty i was wondering if you could make a video on the solo for iron man? would that be alright
Could you give a tutorial on Jojis new song Run. It’s amazing and I know it’s not hard but learning the basics of the song and maybe the solo would be incredible
Were you playing anything in particular at the end or just improvising?
how do guitarists remember every single song they have ever freaking learned and play it on the spot?!? i play another instrument and can kinda remember maybe two by heart!
You're not a guitarist unless you CAN do that😉🙌
Dammn Marty is flexing those guitars 😉
I love the "Rickenbacker" one...
Thumbnail made me laugh, then I saw that ridiculous guitar you were playing at the start of the video and I was full on cracking up!
hey marty! can u make a video teaching ice cream man by van halen? great vid btw
That last piece was beautiful . What is it?
Love your video's
i want one
I'll have to go back and watch that video, but I thought Ed Kind said that he came up with the Sweet Home Alabama riff on an SG
Should had him come play it
Marty shire kin play that geeeetar
What was the song played on the Gibson manda bass
On your own interview with Ed, he said he played that solo on the first and middle pups!.
no Ed said he played it on the back pickup treble pickup and middle! maybe you meant that
@@sugarlife485 I call the treble pup the first.
Hey Marty, could you do a solo tutorial for Battle Born by Five Finger Death Punch.
Much love from South Africa🤘🏿
I thought the "Frying Pan" Rickenbacher was the first electric guitar ? (They changed the spelling later on). Great stuff Marty , thanks ! 😎🎸
I think the “Frying Pan” came first, but it was a lap steel. This was the first Spanish style played in the position we now consider normal for guitar. Of course, Gibson followed a few years later with the first pickups on their arch top guitars.
Very cool Marty, very cool = )
What song was played on that triangle bass
Não entendo nada mas falou em Lynyrd skynyrd tô aqui 🇨🇨🤘
Please do a “is there anybody out there?” Tutorial
whats the song at 12.23
Rip
I agree with you that Carter Vintage Guitars was a the greatest musical instrument store out there.
Personally, I would give second place to Chicago Music Exchange, but only because of the extensive variety of new gear that they sell, and the fact that they cater to all skill levels(as does Carters) and all price levels(Carters doesn’t really much on the lower price level).
Holy shit
Alabama was on the second postion(Bridge and Middle)
Big ED King 🤴💙🙌❤ RIP 🙏😢 will be seriously missed.
hey marty how can i grow wa beard like that?
Can you do its my life by bonjovi
Well the song includes a talk box that’s how Richie sambora plays it
If I am not mistaken, that guitar does not have the original pickups in it. Ed replaced them in the 90’s
Can you teach me how to play"Time in a bottle" by Jim croche. It was my dad's favorite song and I would like to learn it to impress my friends. Hope you see this:)
Taylor Worrell he did a lesson on that already.
@@-h-1666 Oh I just found it mu bad g😂
@@-h-1666 wait no that the wrong one
Taylor Worrell ua-cam.com/video/bw8V9zTVaHk/v-deo.html

Rhett Shull played that!
Skynyrd is the best
Cool
Nice
Where is Allen Collins Explorer
Yea that would be an amazing guitar to see a video on
It was on the bridge and middle pickup, Marty. Come on, you asked the man himself...
Marty can you please do some Arctic Monkeys lead lessons
