Been kayaking for 10+years and never thought of this. I watch the person you got this tip from but never saw this hack. Thanks for sharing. I will have this setup on my next outing.
This is the best comment ever. To know that I played a part in making things a bit more safer for someone on the water. Is a super HUGE and I appreciate you for letting me know! Stay safe and share the knowledge.👍🏾.
Thanks very much! Best, most straight forward explanation of what a REAL quick release set up is! Only change I'd make is a quick release knot so there's no unwinding. Scary how people do all these vid's with spring clasps and carabinners and think it's gonna work. All fine when your in your driveway with no line tension, but get the full weight of you and yer yak being pushed by a strong current and your fooked! Thanks for this!!
Wing Nut Bert You siad a mouthfull there Sir. Its great when folks can intuitively see something and know its either gonna work and or safe solutions.... thanks for your comments
Excellent coverage! I like the float you showed at the very end. I think that is a better solution than the PVC/pool noodle I have been using for the same purpose. I need to get one! Thanks! I added a link to this video to the pinned comment on my anchor trolley mistake video to push some traffic your way.
You’re the man when it comes to this kayaking stuff its just more important to me that more folks know and can be that much safer on the water. Thanks again for helping us all.
Yea sir before I made the video I searched and searched to see what info was out there. And i was equally surprised. So i felt compelled to put some type of solid explanation on the issue and perhaps it would spread. All i can ask is that if you found this video helpful, share it so others can be safe out there. Thanks for your comments. Tight Lines
I like it. And if you dont use a lot of anchor line its pretty cool. I live in so ca where the lakes are really deep and sometimes you may be in 100 feet of water. Simplified line management becomes key. I use a rope spool and a carabiner on the anchor trolley. But i also just wrap part of the anchor line on the seats knob like you did.
Adventure Outdoors thanks to you Sir...if you wouldn’t mind sharing this video and or its content so that we can all be safe out there on the water. God bless and Tight lines
Danny Archer Yes Sir. Its up to is to spread the word about kayak safety just as boaters keep each other safe. I would ask that you pass the information on in whatever capacity you see fit. You can also share this video if you like. And although i cant take credit, its more important to me that everyone one of us is safe out on the water. Thanks for you Comments. Be Safe. & Tightlines
Very good info also there is a better way to use the wire tie on your anchor, the way you have it now way work but test it and you will find that your not pulling on the wire tie, you need to put some kind of ring or swivel in the line, and leave the line from the bottom of the anchor just a little longer than the anchor then that's were you put the ring, then wire tie the ring to the top of the anchor that way when you pull your pulling directory on the wire tie, give a quick pull the wier tie will break faster, I can not take credit for this idea but try it I rigged mind up with a swivel that way when you pull the anchor if it spins it does not twist your rope.
I appreciate the comment ...I don't usually carry a speaker or any type of audio device. I enjoy being quite as possible. Thanks for watching. Be safe.
Any way I can help keep us kayakers safe & seeing our families is a blessing. If youve got any questions, Im an open book. Just ask we’ll find an answer.
Val Ozuna , yes. Run your line through the trolley ring and secure it next to you. Now, “trolley” your ring to whichever end of the kayak you prefer. Wherever your trolley ring is located is the anchoring point, not where your line is tied.
Great video, I am looking for a way to really “quick release “ your video shows a great option. I’ve seen some that attach a little device that the line threads through that with a little push it releases the line and it easily slides out of the way. I have a question / idea..... what if you didn’t want all 50’ or more of anchor line out. If we we tied a loop about every 3-5 ‘ starting at the anchor and put a carabiner a couple of feet from the buoy we could select approximately how much anchor line we let out, I have seen a lot of videos where people use various ways to wind up excess line but for me that just another thing to deal with in the close quarters of a kayak. Welcome any thoughts or opinions. God Bless
Great information. Great system. Thanks for sharing. Now the critique. Less is more. The presentation was a bit long winded. Try to be breif and on point. Otherwise good job.
Great video, but there is a quicker and safer method: A quick release dock knot will let you put just a small loop (bight) of line through the anchor trolley ring. This lets you connect anywhere on the anchor line. Run a bight back to under your leg so you know where it is. Excess length of bight is just coiled and wrapped. Need to release? Quick yank and just a couple of inches of line exits the ring and you are free. I know, I know. Fisherman and kayakers don’t learn quick release knots😂
I like the vid! Much better "splained" for the nautically challenged. Do you have a way of adjusting you anchor line length?...Or did you just settle on a length that fits most of your needs?
since this video I have constructed my own anchor line manager out of a 3/4' PVC piece and a pool noodle...it holds about 75' of anchor line. I've also switched to a claw-style anchor
Hey man, you should try fishing at that spot on vogels creek, it's lifeless, but there's a ton of armour catfish. You could make a awesome bow fishing video.
Kevin Valdez when the last time you’ve been to Vogel? Last time I’ve been the had done construction and changed the whole spot made it even more shallow than it was. So I’m not sure where you’re speaking of to make a bowfishing vid....let me know cause I’d be down for it for sure
BloodSweatnBass well, I fish there all time. I was there last Friday, I caught a pretty big bass, a few small basses, and a Texas cichlid. Which I all released, since there's already too few them in there. If you want the exact spot, your going to have to add me on Instagram and figure it out. (obitokv) it's really close to your spot. If you do find it; keep it discreet, because two dudes saw me on Friday. Today I was driving by there, and the same two dudes were using cast nets and taking everything. So there might not even be anything in there now, except for all those amour catfish, especially in the shallow parts.
I walked up on some guys using nets there a while ago with my GoPro pole, they ain't want to be on camera...I was telling them how that's messed up that they're taking fish away from hood kids that want to learn to catch them. they gave me the finger as they walked away
Never clip your anchor to the trolley. The eye is a pass thru only. The Cornish Kayak Angler has a Vlog on Quick Release Anchor System. Full proof. Includes floating rope, a float and how to release it in mere seconds and off you go.

Nice setup. I also like the sound effects, pretty funny. Makes informative videos like this more entertaining. Come back and make some more videos.
FROLIK ALLDAY I really appreciate the comments. Glad you enjoyed, hope you be safe at all times. God bless.

I have a anchor trolley on both sides of my kayak . Both are set up with quick releases . It has worked great for many years .
Good video. I can't believe how many kayak anchor trolley/anchor system videos people post here showing them using no quick release

How are you maintaining your ançhor line excess? Reel, bag, or some othe means?
What a great video. Exactly what I was looking for thanks man
Glad I could help. Stay Safe, Share the knowledge. 👍🏾

Ive used that method with the carabiner on the Anchor trolley and i didn’t work out well at all I consider it unsafe. Thanks for watching
So you fully deploy the full length of anchor every time no matter the water depth?
This is a great idea.
Adventure Outdoors thanks to you Sir...if you wouldn’t mind sharing this video and or its content so that we can all be safe out there on the water. God bless and Tight lines
I like this way the best, very smart & safe...!!!! Quick-is-Quick..!!!!!

William Brinkmann I would love to see some pics to get a better understanding of how its set up. Could you email me a couple pics
your procedure is good, But i would never use nylon rope, i would use good braided anchor rope.
Thanks for the info! Do you put your kayak speaker in the front or back?
I appreciate the comment ...I don't usually carry a speaker or any type of audio device. I enjoy being quite as possible. Thanks for watching. Be safe.
Hey bro thanks for the video i am a beginner so i really need tips like this tobe safe in the lake
Any way I can help keep us kayakers safe & seeing our families is a blessing. If youve got any questions, Im an open book. Just ask we’ll find an answer.
Quick question. Isn't the reason for trolly to move anchor to back of boat so you won't be anchored from the side of boat?
Val Ozuna , yes. Run your line through the trolley ring and secure it next to you. Now, “trolley” your ring to whichever end of the kayak you prefer.
Wherever your trolley ring is located is the anchoring point, not where your line is tied.
Makes perfect sense - quick release should be QUICK. No fiddling, just see ya.
Thats the idea, and I still use this on my Solo Skiff. Stay Safe out there!
Where can you purchase those floats at?
Just as you stated, as long as it works for you that's all that matters. Time on the water will dictate how you deploy your anchor.

Thanks Chris. Just trying to keep it as safe as possible, and help someone else do the same as well.
very interesting setup. Like+
Good video
Good job!
Great information. Great system. Thanks for sharing.

Good video.
Hey Thanks Doc
great information... try to steady the camera a tad more and keep the anchor line in the shot. good video though.
30milesOut Yes Sir, I definitely need to improve the camera skills. Thanks for watching and commenting. It means a great deal to me. Tightlines
Good video, Safety First.
Absolutely
Great video, but there is a quicker and safer method:
A quick release dock knot will let you put just a small loop (bight) of line through the anchor trolley ring.
This lets you connect anywhere on the anchor line.
Run a bight back to under your leg so you know where it is.

@@B.A.Bassangler Yes I pass it through the ring on the anchor trolley, this way I can move the trolley forward and back as needed.
since this video I have constructed my own anchor line manager out of a 3/4' PVC piece and a pool noodle...it holds about 75' of anchor line. I've also switched to a claw-style anchor
@john Throw the reel in as well?
Yikes man lose the record scratch at 4:16 please
More importantly: how did you get your kayak in the kitchen? And is your wife out of town for the summer?

These yellow nylon ropes fray quite easily after being utilized in the sun and water, at least that's my experience.
Manvet 67 thanks for the heads up
Good idea, but your anchor line is never a fixed length.
Never clip your anchor to the trolley. The eye is a pass thru only. The Cornish Kayak Angler has a Vlog on Quick Release Anchor System. Full proof. Includes floating rope, a float and how to release it in mere seconds and off you go.
Great video, but as for safety get that Kayak out of the living room before the ol lady comes home.
You already know!!!! I had to make this one in a fat hurry. and I only had one shot to get it right.
Out standing ! ! My man you made me laugh; honestly no shit. I will be looking forward to your next posted videos. Hang in there.
Right about that! I'm working on mine in the living room right now as well. Got caught up in this vid. Gotta hurry now!
