    So as anyone can see on my profile picture I am a Mopar guy. But I gotta say this video just damn near tilted me all the way to my decision about getting an SC400 and yes I want to manual swap it. Great video!!! Listening to your car made my heart beat faster. Just like my HEMI use to do. I owned an 89 Supra when I was 25 and now I'm 43 and about to go back to JDM. Again great video.

    Absolutely kino.
    The acceleration at 4:12 is so beautifully raw sounding, and then the overrun 4:27 is fucking bliss.

    • @StriViK
      @StriViK  Рік тому +1

      @@WarriorsPhoto So there are a few ways around the Check Engine Lights when you do your swap.
      Easiest way: Get a AT Emulator from all4swap, you have to wire it in and it'll do the rest except 3 lights will still be on. Install a resistor on each of the solenoid wires, I believe there are 3 or 4, this will remove all CELs.
      Another way is to keep your solenoids and and all the electronics from your auto transmission plugged in and just tucking it away somewhere.

  • @abelquezada9483

    How’s the lighter flywheel and aluminum drive shaft? Harsher nvh? Is the it as responsive as you’d like? I drove a friends g35 with a really light flywheel and hated it, but when I swap my 98sc400 I would like it to rev freely

    • @StriViK
      @StriViK  2 роки тому +3

      You'd want to get a lighter flywheel for better rev matching and it makes the car more fun to drive. However, I'd say if you have a purely daily use for the car then go with a stock weight flywheel.
      At first when I swapped to a lighter flywheel I regretted it because it'd be easy to stall but I later realized it's not just the flywheel causing that but also the clutch. The SPEC Stage 2 clutch I have bites hard but doesn't is quite stiff, so maybe lighter flywheel + OEM feel clutch will be better.
      Currently I'm used to the lightweight flywheel and the clutch, because I know where the bite points are and how the car will react on zero speeds or a hillclimb it's not much of an issue for me but I still have to give thought to it. Driving fast is a different story, the engine revs faster, I get back on the power faster, downshift and rev matching is a pure joy that you can get with your regular weight flywheel but with a lighter one it's even more fun. I went with a higher torque clutch because I will be turbo'ing the car later sometime next year so I won't have to switch the clutch to a higher rated one.
      As for NVH, I was worried that the driveshaft will make noise but to my surprise I have not experienced any additional NVH even going at speeds of 140mph+. The car is extremely response because of the lightweight components and there is no delay in the power. I think a aluminum driveshaft doesn't make the biggest difference but since at the time the difference between the steel and aluminum one was only $100 I went with aluminum. I am having some chatter at idle with my flywheel however Forward Momentum was also having the same issue but he changed his engine mounts and that solved the issue for him. My engine mounts are bad too so I can give a update once I swap to new engine mounts because there is a lot of movement on the drivetrain.
      In short, if you want a daily/cruiser, get a OEM style flywheel with OEM style clutch or lightweight flywheel with OEM style clutch.
      If you like to race, spirited driving, touge and what not, a lightweight flywheel is highly recommended and depending on your power goals you can keep the OEM style clutch or get a high torque rated clutch.
