This is specifically for a 1998 SC400 with a 1UZFE, but the same parts list can be applied for a SC300, SC400, or Soarer when swapping to a six speed CD009.

Great video, thanks for all the info and the link to your build thread. Do you have any images of what needed to be cut/trimmed on your trans tunnel to make it fit? This is my biggest issue with the CD009 (personally) - I’m really trying to keep the body as unmolested as possible. I have been leaning AR5 with a diff regear (if needed) because I assume it’s proportions are very close to that of the R154 and would fit close to OEM in the trans tunnel.
I see you used the XAT kit, was the lightened flywheel the reason you had to use the stage 2 clutch option?? Looking to do the same with mine. How has the stage 2 clutch improved on the street?? Very nice build and keep the videos coming!!!
@@Suzuki1000MB I used the stage 3 clutch but overall this kit is not worth it because of the design of the throwout bearing, if you can fit a T56 style throwout bearing I'd say go for it. Better to spend the money on the Fisch Racing tech kit or wait for the grannas T56 kit come out. Thank you for your words, I will focus more on making videos
No issues with clearance because I'm still using the stock automatic bell housing. The only thing you'll have to cut or disconnect the neutral switch on the transmission because it will hit the trans tunnel.

@@christianmiranda4384 you'll need a RHD clutch pedal, RHD clutch pedal assembly and maybe a RHD brake master cylinder adapter All their stuff should fit a soarer, you just need parts mentioned above
hey thanks for the all the info, its helping me avoid the collins kit :). I have one question, how did you measure for the driveshaft? did you install it first then measure it, or get one made for sc400 to cd009 conversions? I'm just not sure if the premade ones will work with separate bell housings. Thanks!
I had XAT racing make me one. They asked me for measurements from the output shaft to the differential flange and the differential flange type as well. Premade ones should work if everything is coming from one single kit.
I had to cut the transmission to fit the adapter on it, it allows me to use my automatic bellhousing which is smaller than the stock bellhousing of the cd009
Wonderful video!! Thanks for sharing. I have a ‘97 SC300 that’s a manual shift vehicle. I’ve had the car since 2000 and wouldn’t take a mint for it! Didn't see your comment before. AC can be a pain on these cars because the lines are in odd locations it sounds like you electrical issues, my guess would be your climate control system is bad and that's AC and defrost is not working. You can get one from a used car or get it repaired too

Good question actually, since the UZ never came manual there is no manual flywheel available. Some of companies make a flywheel based on the OEM flywheel so you can use the stock g35/350z clutch kit. In the case of the XAT 1UZ kit, the flywheel they based it on was from 300ZX Twin Turbo so I can only use a 300ZX clutch. It's a lightweight flywheel at around 13.5lb.
I'm running a hydraulic throw out bearing, the system that doesn't involve a clutch fork but instead has everything in one assembly. Specifically it's the Quarter Master Hydraulic Throwout bearing. It pushes the throwout bearing based on hydraulic pressure instead of a clutch fork. The master cylinder is a wildwood master cylinder
@@StriViK I’m having issues getting into R , it makes a grinding noise , grind getting in 5th and it be random times when it sounds like the clutch rattling
@@YardManJZ I have a slight grind going into 5th gear as well. Tried double clutching, rev matching but it stills grind unless the rpms are at idle, so I'm guessing it's a synchro issue. As for reverse, have you tried adjusting your shifter?

Is there a different way besides cutting it
Depends on the kit, some kits don't require a cut
Is there a solution for the CEL?
I'm working on it, hopefully in the next two weeks I'll make a video on it!
Do you have a price breakdown anywhere?
Kit is about $1300
Transmission $750
Shifter is $500
Clutch is another $350
Driveshaft is $750
Overall it'll cost between 4.5 - 5.2k
Do you have to cut it
If you go with most kits, the only kit I know that doesn't require cutting is the POP Performance kit.
