      @@hopefulhumanLana Clayton poisoned her husband Steve Clayton with visine/eye drops (tetrahydrozolene) in july 2018 in south Carolina. Sentenced to 25 years. Yeah this defense attorney is a complete bozo. If he were my attorney and he's standing up there professing there's been no deaths caused by poisoning someone with eyedrops, i would fire him for incompetence. The Lana/Steve Clayton visine murder has been on 48 hours and dateline a couple different times over the last couple years. I just watched it a few months ago on a repeat from about a year ago. Ever since that case it has been pretty well known that visine/tetrahydrozolene is lethal if ingested.

    I used to work in pharmacy and I remember the pharmacist saying the “prank” to give people visine in their drink to cause diarrhea is super harmful because the drug can cause seizures, cardiac issues or even a coma. I could see argument that using it as eye drops into the eye could not cause death but ingestion at a high level I would think could. Also the tox screen should show all the concentrations and be relatively clear what is at a deadly level

    Everyone has heard of the case in SC when a man died from 1 bottle of eye drops. The other Carolina case is in Mount Holly NC- a chopper medic is charged with murdering his wife in the same way after hearing about the SC case. The wife had a pacemaker but was healthy. Her mother asked the insurance company to investigate and they found the poison.

    I didn't bat an eye when I heard "visine killer" but finding out those amounts of those other drugs were in Lynn's stomach totally flipped me. Cyclobenzaprine is a powerful muscle relaxant and is scary in this context! I can't take even the normal adult dose without feeling like I have to make a conscious effort to breathe. Even if she had built up a tolerance to it, finding all those pills in her stomach, and with other pills, just seems like a HUGE red flag against the visine being the clear killer. I'm very curious to find out how they made that determination.

    • @luckewoman0348
      @luckewoman0348 7 місяців тому

      I would think the amounts would be a big indicator....considering they reported 6 bottles of visine ingested it sure seems like they could make the conclusion. They easily could've reported her death as due to multiple medications like they did with Heath Ledger...there is a reason why they believe it is strictly one drug responsible.

    i take care of my mom who will be 87 in Jan. She takes alot of meds and we both write everything down!! The time she took it and how much was taken. I write on her paper how she is feeling that day and if she ate breakfast lunch ect...I started doing it because she was having to take more and more meds. I was scared i would forget a dose or give her an extra dose because i forgot what i gave her earlier. And then as she got older i stepped up my notes. The Dr. has been able to catch things sooner just from me writing she didnt feel well after lunch. He narrowed it down to 1 pill she was taking at lunch time and changed the meds and she felt so much better. If you have kids or elderly id reccomend taking daily note. Its so worth it!

    • @heatherm9163
      @heatherm9163 7 місяців тому +1

      Good for you! Seriously!🥰 it’s not easy…I know. My mom is a about 10 years younger and has Parkinson’s. I guess I won’t say it’s good, but there is no way for her to miss a dose because she will immediately feel it with tremors and dystonia and I will see it! With that said, ever since she was diagnosed (which unfortunately was quite early as compared to typical PD patients), she has always had the alarms on her phone and Ipad (and now the Applewatch as well😅) set to the 5 times of day she needs to take meds. Luckily, unlike me, she is not a procrastinator…as soon as that alarm goes off, she is taking the meds. Your advice is great though and perfect timing as we have an appt with her Neurologist today to discuss changing up medications out of necessity to better control symptoms and your method of noting things you see with regards to meds is great so that we can hopefully trace any negative side effects….so imma steal it…k?!🥰

    • @maryw1761
      @maryw1761 7 місяців тому +1

      @heatherm9163 absolutely! take it because I had no idea that my notes would lead to that 1 pill causing her so much discomfort, but I gave my notes to the Dr and he found it quickly. He said let's start by changing this pill and see if that helps, if it doesn't I see another medicine that might be the culprit but at least I have a starting point. I was surprised but very happy. I hope things with your mom get better. Hopefully her Dr can change her meds and get better control over her symptoms. When they feel better than you and I can feel better. Your in my prayers fit sure!!

    I hope you follow this case, Peter. I’m a licensed pharmacist and was talking to colleagues today. None of us were aware of Visine being related to causing death. In all the years of schooling and in over a decade of practice, I’ve never heard of this. 😂 I’m bewildered. It’s a vasoconstrictor so I suppose in theory, it could cause death. But she was on a lot of medications that could also cause death! Random, but Nair Hair remover has been documented to causing death by stopping the heart….but I’ve never heard of visine. I have lots of absorption and distribution (pharmacokinetics) questions in my pharmacist brain that need to be answered for me to buy into this. 😂

If this woman is indeed guilty, she obviously used a large amount to kill this poor person. Good grief, if it's not murder by antifreeze poisoning, it's eye drops poisoning! When will it ever end? The scary part is when you insert the eye drops into your eyes you could be accidentally swallowing it, too, but that would have to be in large amounts. I'm not taking any chances--just a splash of cool water will do for me from now on or even a gentle saline solution.

    Hi Peter, it was nice to wake up to you laying out the openings & highlighting key points. The state laying out all those questionable and outright improper financial actions Jessy did with Lynn’s money weighed heavily against her in my mind, as we cared for my MIL for 8 years as her dementia progressed; did her bill-paying, shopping and upkeep out of her money with an easy system (folder) to voluntarily account if it came up. My point is there was nothing at questionable or unsubstantiated . In this case, there are so, so many red flags; it’s the totality of the circumstances. Plenty of bad acts. Thank you for discussing the key points. Btw, I have used Visine as directed. It runs down the sinuses, and seems tasteless. Why drink it in your water?

      If you are doing anything financial for another person using their money you need to be able to
      Prove your doing it in their best interests.

    As I watch the defense opening statement...and he pushes the notion of all the meds in Lynn's system, my first thought is, But Jessy was her caretaker...probably, at least possibly, SHE could have given the medication to Lynn...

      Exactly what I thought, especially since a crime scene tech later says she had a bunch of crushed up pills on her, all different kinds. This wouldn’t be the first person to drug an elderly victim for months while draining her bank account before doing her in.

    Peter, it is brilliant you are doing this. Judge Darrow is from the Daryl Brooks trial. But the prosecutors and defense have clearly two different theories. Not clear on the opening statements. Who will the best lawyers? Feeling this will up and down for sometime.

    This reminds me of wedding crashers when they used the eye drops to make Bradley coopers character sick.

    The defense that the victim drank the eyedrops makes no sense to me. I would have to have the victim on video admitting or someone who was not asscociated with the accused testitfying to this! Can't wait to hear the evidence from both sides.

    Very interesting! I'd like to hear more. But watching on my phone I can't adjust the speed. I turned on closed captioning and was able to read along.

    Wisconsin is going to need a Go Fund Me page to triple the funding to the Tourist Board cos folk think its too dodgy to visit there ! I am sure its very nice , Someone should open a Cornish pasty shop in Eau Clare and a second hand book shop in Madison for the students . I am sure its really ,really nice.
