You are correct. They broke up in 1980 when the drummer died. They did this reunion show in 2007, 27 years later. And the drummers son played the drums. Freaking incredible!
This has to be my favorite Zeppelin song. I bought Physical Graffiti in high school back when it came out in '75. All these years later it still hits the same as it did almost 50 years ago.
This performance was in 2006. 20,000 tickets were available and two million people tried to buy one. That’s how popular they still are and a testament to their mark upon the rock world! They are in their 70’s now and could still pull this off if they wanted to. Their original drummer John Bonham died of alcohol poisoning in the 79’s. On the drums in this video is the drummers sun Jason Bonham.
The drummer, Jason Bonham is the son of the late drummer who died around 1980. Around that time the band broke up, mostly because of John Bonham's death. His son was a drummer with the band Foreigner. I can only think that the original drummer John was proud and smiling down on his son Jason for this perfomance.Actually the entire band was fantastic.Sounded like they were still in their 20s.
I've seen 3 different videos of this song by Led Zeppelin at different times. The first one was in the early-mid 1970s and I think it is the least of the 3. It may be because the quality of the sound and visual was not as good or clear as later. 1979 was an excellent version that I really like. It is more powerful and the aura of the song's almost mystical feel was apparent. But, the Celebration Day version of 2007 I feel is the best of the 3. Plant really was at his best and his singing and performance was incredible. It felt like he was living the song right there. Jason Bonham, John Bonham the drummer until his death in 1980, put in a driving performance that would have made dad proud.
That drummer is Jason Bonham John Bonhams son! Who better to be behind that drum kit than John Bonhams son! I'm pretty sure John Bonham was proud of Jason pounding those drum skins I Led Zeppelin's last performance together!
Plant’s voice is in much better shape here in 2007 are in much better shape here than the Knebworth 1979 concert, but then Zep was performing many more shows, snd lots of back to back on successive days. That takes quite a toll.
Greatest band in history! As old as they were here...still the greatest!

One of the best performances ever.
I love how someone phrased it for a tribute: "They shook the world of rock and this vibrations can still be felt today..." Best band ever!
In 2007…Still the Greatest Rock Band in the history of music!
An epic performance of an epic song. Age ain’t nothin but a number!
