Twan, I want to thank you a lot for these Dune interviews. Back in my days I was a very big fan of Dune and still am. Dune is one of the reasons I start producing music myself. In these interviews the're were a couple of questions I had for myself I wanted to know about Dune and you've asked them. And thanks to Oliver for this great interview for these great answers and wonderful stories. Two legends together! Thank you, guys!
Mensch Oli Ich hörte eure Songs so gerne. DUNE Forever!!! I Can't Stop Raving To!!! LG Mike aus der Schweiz!
Massive respect to Oliver for keeping the rave alive! I was pissed when around 97-98 the scene decided "enough with this fast sh*t" and everyone seemed to be relieved. I was 15 and I was really looking forward to go raving to 170 bpm. Clearly this wasn't happening in the ensuing years. Oliver was one of the few who never seemed to look back at the time with regret. Can't Stop Raving is a perfect example of an undeniably good song from that time. The sounds, the writing, the arrangement, the production, they're all on point. Unfortunately, too many people get hung up on the somewhat shallow lyrics and completely miss the main point of the music.
It's so great to see this guy still being around. Back in the day we didn't have any way of getting to know the people behind the music we saw on TV (or heard on the radio). This really helps getting into the context of the music we know.
Back in the days I was listening a lot to both Dune - Dune (1995) and RMB - This World Is Yours (1995) albums in rotation and they were blowing me away each time with their quality. And since these albums were so rare (and hard to get) I was more appreciative to the music and to the artists. And I still listen to Dune and RMB regularly. And it's a beautiful coincidence that you have also interviewed Rolf from RMB here on this channel. So thanks for all the interviews, great job as always.
Same here with Dune and RMB, but more Dune.:) I also listen Dune 1995 album regularly (almost daily XD) and I try to make something similar music in my free time. I just bought JD-990, JV-1080, Korg Wavestation, Moog Prodigy (VST). I really just wondering on how Dune get these brilliant ideas in sound design point of view with these instruments. My favourite tracks are HCV, Up, Future is now, Another dream, Spice, Generation Love...
@thmryh3923 I have all the albums from Dune and RMB and also Westbam, Marusha, Charly Lownoise & Mental Theo. And I have to say that the period of 90 years was the best for me when it comes to electronic music (Rave, Techno and Trance) 🙌🏻🙌🏾🙌
Also die Lieder: I can stop raving, hardcore vibes, rainbow to the stars, million miles from home, hand in hand,..sind Weltklasse wie die ganzen 90 Jahre Eurodance allgemein, Danke Dune ❤
I’m 36, this song was a massive part of my childhood, remember my older brother playing it constantly. Then as I got older I loved it too! Thanks very much for this interview it’s amazing to hear from the guy who created such a strong childhood memory!
I’m 19 living in New York and Dune - Can’t Stop Raving is THE song that got me into happy hardcore music in early 2022! The song also led me to discover more happy hardcore songs and artists such as Blümchen, Scooter, Critical Mass, DJ Paul Elstak, 4 Tune Fairytales, Charly Lownoise and Mental Theo, Nakatomi etc. This made my college experience a lot better. Thank you Oliver Froning! How did I find Dune - Can’t Stop Raving? I found it while listening to 90s eurodance on UA-cam and clicked a video that caught my attention. People in a small studio 😅
I loved his music so much. At the same time I fell in love with jungle and DNB. He used breakbeats in his tunes and it hooked me everytime. BSBF london was my first source for electronic music. evosonic radio, bloodbrothers, dope beats on sputnik, grenzpunkt null…
Cool interview! I am fan of Dune since late 1995 when I started to watch Viva TV. Awesome memories. 90s music was so happy and positive. I must say that the both versions of "Can't stop Raving" are so awesome, but the album version is just a masterpiece. Thank You for the music Oliver! And thanx for this interview!
I have loved this track since the mid 90s when I first heard this. My 8 year old loves it too and is the most requested track by her. Great to hear the story behind it. Thank you for making the video
One of my top 10 tracks in my life. I’ve heard this song several hundred times on my video player when it came out and was dancing to it in my child's room. I was around 15-16. Everything came together puberty, girls and THIS track, what a fantastic time. When I become 50 years old I want to have Dune as an act on my birthday party. Oliver, ich hoffe du bist in 7 Jahren noch fit ;-) Liebe Grüße
First time viewer. Glad you got to interview Oliver. I am such a huge fan, and SOOOO blessed I got to remix one of his tracks and get released on his label. Dune was and is such a huge part of my life. Glad I found your channel. Subbed.
Thanks for the great interview! 👍 I hope to have the exact lead sound of "Can't Stop Ravin'" as a preset on my JD-990 someday. 🙏please please please Jens, please share the SysEx with us. 🙂
Thanks. I actually always wondered why those two songs were so different the album version and music video version. Now I got the answer. I still can't stop raving 🥳
I heard this song a few times on the radio throughout 1996, then never heard it again since. I have a kind of phonographic memory where I can recall most the instrumentation/tune/rhythm etc, but not the lyrics. So for the last 27 years, this song has occasionally popped into my head, minus the lyrics, it's just so catchy! However I was never able to find out what it was, and every now and then my ear worm would appear. I even thought it was a Scooter song so ended up playing every single one of his songs on YT music, to no avail. Then this evening I had a 💡 moment and hummed it into the google app. My phonographic memory plus perfect pitch served me well and after 27 years I FINALLY found out the song name/artist. Now I can finally put this great ear worm to bed.
@@davidgeppert5763 Thank you! Marc might happen in the near future since he often has gigs here in The Netherlands 🤞🏻 Not doing requests BTW, I have over 100 people on my wish list still 😂🙈
There is a song called "Have you ever been mellow - Trance Remix" which borrows the lead melody. Love this song! Great Interview i'm glad you ask questions in regard to production
Unfortunately that is very difficult due to copyright reasons. Chances of getting my videos blocked then are simply too high and I’m trying to avoid that. So I always have the music playing softly in the background. Glad you enjoyed the interview!
I second this. I enjoy each and every upload from Twan, not only the Trance related ones. I was hugely into Hardcore before Trance...all the Dutch sounds as well as the UK/Scottish stuff from the likes of Scott Brown etc, and love a lot of Eurodance too. Even the few tracks I'm not so familiar with I find it really interesting to hear the story behind. Muzikxpress is most definitely one of my favourite channels on UA-cam. Keep them coming Twan 😊
Such a great and entertaining interview! P.S. Would have been interesting to hear how and why and with what kind of impact Bernd Burthoff got into the project. Also some words about the beautiful and so unique cover art & design by Eike König and his team. Perhaps Oliver could answer to these still under the comments? Thank You Twan for the important work!
Do you do color correction on your clips? Let me know if you need help, your shot A and B a bit mismatch...not that most people care but if you need help let me know
They are on my loooong wish list for sure, but unfortunately I haven’t seen them on a line up here in The Netherlands (where I’m based) in ages. Please keep in mind Muzikxpress is “just” a hobby for me and I don’t have a big budget for trips abroad, which means I can only do interviews with people who live nearby or with artists that visit The Netherlands for gigs etc.
Of course number one is Can't Stop Raving. I also like Million Miles From Home and those heavily underrated tracks from 1998 with Vanessa Horster Keep The Secret and Electric Heaven.
I guess you have to be German or Dutch to really appreciate this kind of style. However Hardcore Vibes is a great track and even got quite some airplay in Belgium
verena was a huge loss in a momentum for the group, but they still make good music, hope happy trance/europop/proper 90s techno- will have soon a huge comeback, I grew up on electronic music ultravox/depeche mode/sandra/army of lovers/westbam/marusha/sven vath/modo/mark-oh/scooter/prodigy and many more.... 90s were the best.....
