🇨🇦 Yes, Angus Young (with the Red guitar and the schoolboy uniform) was playing that riff with one hand ! It is said that Angus could play that riff, with one hand, while falling down a circular staircase, and never miss a note ! One of the Best guitarists ever ! 🇨🇦
@@barrydunn682 Naturally, Malcolm is definitely rhythm. 🥰 I just mean how Angus does more than power chords and solos … he adds that almost-Beethoven quality riff that you could set a clock to.
I hate being the one to correct people, but Angus is not playing the song one-handed. This is just the music video. Watch any live performance and he is picking every note. I speak as a guitarist and know how to play this song.

Holy SMOKES!!! I’ve seen 100’s of reactions to this song and you’re the ONLY one who noticed that Angus played one handed in the solo intro. Well done my man!👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Angus Young, the lead guitarist, is the little guy….5’1”….his brother, rhythm guitar player Malcolm, was 5’3”. Their father moved the family from Scotland to Australia when the brothers were kids. The lead singer is Brian Johnson, is from England. But the band referred to themselves as Australian. (Not New Zealand).
Don't forget original drummer Phil Rudd (Chris Slade was smashing the skins in this video) and bassist Cliff Williams. They're not mentioned as much as the others but the band is made up of awesome musicians and they're the tightest band I've ever heard.
You picked one of the two best Thunderstruck vids. Check out Thunderstruck live at river platte. The guys are older but you'll see they still rock. It's a Much larger venue & the crowds are massive!
Even though this song is more than 30 years old, I still hear the intro played at the beginning of high school hockey games to amp up the crowd. Do any (American) football teams use it?
Had the extreme opportunity to see them back in the 70's and Angus Young was on Bon Scott's back and went around the audience mooning everyone! Oh my goodness, those were the days! They will forever be on every playlist I have for the rest of my life...thank you AC/DC!
Starting with the lead singer: Brian Johnson (singer) is 5'5" and is 76 Angus Young (lead guitar) is 5'2" and is 69 Malcolm Young (guitar) was 5'3" and was 64 when he passed away in 2017 Cliff Williams (bass guitar) is 5'8" and is 74 Phil Rudd (drummer) is 5'6" and is 69.
I've seen plenty of reactions to this song and you are THE ONLY ONE who noticed Angus playing the guitar with one hand at the very beginning of the video. NICE!!!
Brian Johnson ( lead singer ) is from Newcastle in the UK , Angus ( lead guitar ) and his brother Malcom ( he unfortunately died a couple of years ago) were originally from Scotland, but moved to Australia when they were young kids , 👍👍🤠🎸

That "wall, of fans) actually won AC/DC a video award for best CGI effects that year. That crowd is layered with CGI to make it appear not only fisheyed, but twice as high as it really was (they doubled it digitally).
Its sad all these real rockers are getting old and one by one dying off. Im happy as hell that even in their old age are still bringing it. These were the bands when i was growing up and i loved them but didn’t appreciate them as much as i do now and seeing them old and going away is very sad. I mean, we lost all the original members of Motorhead, Malcom from AC/DC is gone, Eddie Van Halen, etc.. Even Ozzy Osbourne is on shaky ground. Feels like i’m losing my youth. Even the younger groups I love that came up just behind these other bands like Metallica, are in their 60s now. I haven’t heard any new bands in the last few decades that could even touch any of these older bands. Because these old songs still hold up and resonate after so. any years, makes it feel like no one will ever replace or be a logical followup. So making it seem like newer music will never be anywhere near as good.
Info on AC/DC: They were formed in Australia in 1973 by Scottish-born brothers Angus Young (lead guitar) and Malcolm Young (rhythm guitar)... Angus Young took on the crazy schoolboy persona onstage and became the band's mascot. Over decades, AC/DC has hardly changed their sound of guitar-heavy hard rock w/ no samples or keyboards - good, tough rock n' roll... Angus and Malcolm Young were rock n' roll fans and were inspired when their older brother George Young became famous in the 60's as the guitarist of a band called The Easybeats... George Young and his bandmate Harry Vanda would go on to produce a number of AC/DC records. The two brothers teamed up in a band in '73 and their sister suggested the name AC/DC from a label on her sowing machine... She also stitched up Angus Young's early schoolboy outfits... AC/DC were playing in bars and clubs in Sydney, Australia in 1974 when they met Bon Scott (vocals) who joined the band and recorded their 1975 debut album 'High Voltage'... Angus was AC/DC's mascot, but Bon was the star... His charisma, persona and voice made AC/DC the iconic band it is... Phil Rudd (drums) and Mark Evans (bass) also joined in 1975. AC/DC were signed internationally in 1976 and began touring the UK, Europe and then N. America in the 70's and built a solid fanbase... Cliff Williams (bass) replaced Evans in 1977... And by 1979, their album 'Highway to Hell' finally sold gold (half million copies) in the US. Sadly, tragedy struck AC/DC in early 1980... lead singer Bon Scott was found dead in a friend's car after a night of heavy drinking. A devastated AC/DC decided to hire British singer Brian Johnson in 1980 and dedicated the album 'Back in Black' to the memory of Bon Scott... That record became a phenomenon and has sold 25 million copies in the US alone - one of the top 5 best-selling records of all time. Despite their success in 1980, AC/DC declined commercially in the 80's, but they persisted in recording and touring... Drummer Phil Rudd was fired in 1983, but he would return to AC/DC in 1995... The single 'Thunderstruck' in 1990 from the album "The Razor's Edge" became a huge hit and the record has sold 5x platinum and put AC/DC back on top. AC/DC was selling out arenas and stadiums w/ each new record in the 90's and beyond... their 2008 album 'Black ice' went to #1 in the US. However, founding guitarist Malcolm Young was diagnosed w/ dementia and announced his retirement from AC/DC in 2013... The brothers' nephew Stevie Young (rhythm guitar) took his place in AC/DC... Malcolm Young passed away in 2018 Since then, AC/DC has had some changes... Phil Rudd (drums) was arrested in New Zealand in 2014... singer Brian Johnson suffered from hearing loss in 2015 and had to leave an AC/DC tour in 2016... Bassist Cliff Williams also announced his retirement in 2016. After the release of the album 'Power up' in 2020, AC/DC announced a return to touring in 2024... Brian Johnson is back in AC/DC, but they announced that Matt Laug (drums) and Chris Chaney (bass) will be touring w/ the band.
Great song to lift with, I must say I wasn't a big fan of Brian Johnson to start with (lead singer for AC/DC ) after Bon Scotts death. I loved the band before since 1975 It took me sometime to get use to Brian voice but over all his commitment and dedication to the band along with his own works has made me a strong fan of AC/DC (RIP Bon you are still missed brother.)
Just started watching song reactions yesterday, and have loved your two Acca Dacca (what we call them here at their home in Australia) reactions! Always good to see the younger generation unaccustomed to a genre getting into it. Keep rocking brother.
The singer, Brian Johnson (their 3rd lead singer, who took over in 1980) is from NEWCASTLE ENGLAND. The 2 Young Brothers (Angus and Malcolm) who lead the band, and the Bassist Cliff Richards were all born in Scotland and moved to Australia as kids. Bon Scott (their 2nd singer) led them to fame and handed Brian a hit machine when he died. Their first singer, DAVE EVANS never really recorded much with the band and was replaced after 1 year.
We had Hydro races back in my home town about the time this song first came out. Those boats were crazy, they'd roll around the corners and make noise like you never heard. We had this song on tape and just played it over and over. Of course the hydros were nicknamed "thunder boats", so it was completely appropriate. Some of the best days of my life!
