  • With over a billion people, India is the region’s largest country and the world’s biggest democracy. But India’s troubled relationship with its neighbor Pakistan looms over the region. As the countries of South Asia set off on the path of economic growth, the relationship between these two nuclear-armed countries affects virtually every aspect of the region’s future including trade, terrorism, and foreign policy. The title of the video should be: India and Pakistan explained

No Idea why Russian-influenced Central Asia was included because it has very limited or none economic, cultural, genetic and political ties to South Asia. The video totally disregards Central Asia after initially mentioning it as a region. Oil-rich Kazkhstan has 5 times higher GDP per capita (PPP) than both India and Pakistan and certainly is far more organized, clean and richer than both.

You have to learn basics of the economy. Oil rich country doesn't really mean a resourceful and self reliant country or economy. Grow up.

@@bollywoodmasalatruthfulvoi1901 You are the one who needs to grow up. I never said oil-rich automatically means wealth for its citizens. Facts remain facts: check up any sources such IMF or World Bank for list of countries by GDP (PPP) to see where India and Pakistan stand versus Kazakhstan. I simply presented facts.

Afghanistan is NOT a part of South Asia. The only reason why it's included in some of the maps is because of it's decision to join SAARC back in the 2K's when they kicked out the Taliban with the help of the US the first time out of the country. It's was purely a political move and every since then Afghanistan has been wrongly included in South Asia with which it has no ties other than religion. South Asia = Indian Subcontinent!

@@GabrielMoreau12 Why do you think it's not part of Central Asia when it's tied to the region, historically, geographically, ethnically and linguistically.
Where do you think Afghanistan is located? Please don't say it's a cross-roads because that is not a fact and only propagated by people who lose the argument that it is part of South Asia.

Probably between both Central and South Asia. Most Pukhtoons are similar to South Asians, most Hazaras look similar to Central Asians. A lot of Afghans relate to South Asia, the other half with Central Asia. It’s a 50/50 divide

    • @ChachiMogo

@@Lktravel1 Okay, let me break it down for you cause I feel like you guys are always going in circles with these claims.
      1. Most Pashtuns are not South Asian. if you're thinking about the ones in pakistan then they're heavily desified since living in an Indic/Indo-Aryan country or heavily mixed to the point of having a high amount of South Asian genetics but still considers themselves to be Pashtun.
      2. Hazaras a descendants of the Mongols who settled in central Afghanistan some 1000 years ago.
      3. Relating to South Asia - If I understand your question correctly, if you mean because Afghans watch a lot of Bollywood movies and some understand hinid/urdu is because they were refugees in pakistan or through Bollywood. However, those two "links" does not make us South Asian or close to South Asia. Many other countries also watch Bollywood and there are millions of Afghans who live in the west and speak fluent English, does that make us western or closely linked to the west also? No, it does not.
To there is no 50/50 divide in Afghanistan between South and Central Asia. We're 100% Central Asian and our southeastern neighbors can think whatever they want but facts will remain facts.

@@ChachiMogo chachi I get your point, but Afghanistan is a mix of Persian, Central Asian and South Asian cultures put together into a melting pot. Afghans don’t all look the same. Some afghans look desi, some look central Asian hazara, and some look Caucasian / Northern Iranian. Most of all Afghanistan men wear the salwar kameez which brings it closer to the South Asian culture rather than Uzbek or Turkmen for example. Talking to an Afghan I feel closer to them than I would to an Uzbek, Kyrgyz or Kazakh. As the languages are similar, words are the same. The British made Afghanistan a British protectorate in 1879 (treaty of Gandamak), thus since then, maps had always shown Afghanistan as part of South Asia. Maybe 50% of the people on one side of Afghanistan feel central Asian due to their ties in Tajikistan or Uzbekistan, and the other half feel South Asian due to their ties to Pakistan, cross border families etc. There’s plenty of afghans who say they speak Farsi as their language and not Dari, whereas the local dialect is actually Dari, seeming to have closer ties to Iran. It just depends on the Afghan you speak to. Online it quotes Afghanistan is situated at the crossroads of Central and South Asia, culturally sharing similarities with countries from both regions.
