      Honestly, the transition of Klingons from generic bad guys to Federation allies (that the Federation never quite sees eye-to-eye with but can find common ground to stand beside) might actually be the best arc in TV history.
      Lots of series have had heel-face turns, but few can claim one that's been set up over decades.

      sander895 Ikr. I understand why the TOS Klingon design was crap, it was the 60s, who cares about effects then. TNG/DS9/VOY/ENT Klingons look the best, and are what people think of when you say "Klingon". Fuck knows why they changed them again in Discovery, good luck explaining that in canon. See, in Enterprise, set in the late 2200s, we see the Klingons using the augment virus, turning them into what we saw in TOS, but Discovery in set in between Enterprise and TOS, so what happened to them?

    • @Hekser
      @Hekser 6 років тому +4

      Vladimir Kool-Aid I would like an explaination too but the truth is that this show has no respect what so ever for canon. What we see in Discovery is too futuristic for it's time period, and yes a lot of people say it's because we are in the 21st century now and we can do a lot more Special Effects wise, but if we look at 90s Star Trek and even Star Trek Enterprise where special effects were already a thing, we see that they had a lot of respect to what had come before and like you said Enterprise even gave an answer to why the klingons looked like they did in TOS. But in all, Star Trek Discovery should just go down the toilet and another Star Trek after Voyager should be created or maybe one about the Romulan War that was set for season 5 of Enterprise. What we got until Enterprise is still something we should treasure within our hearts, because I don't think modern TV will take those kinds of risks anymore like they used to.

      @ki5aok 3 роки тому +1

      @@thefirstprimariscatosicari6870 To me, Enterprise looks even more futuristic compared to the original series, but it does look like the tech is outdated by the time Next Generation comes around (meaning TOS needs an update on its visual style to be more advanced than ENT but less advance than TNG). Discovery threw me off, as the tech used on the ship is a bit more advanced than TNG, which puts it in the wrong timeframe. Now, the Enterprise in DSC looks visually impressive, albeit still a bit more advanced than TNG.
      Of course, this is just my opinion.

      I thought a cool idea for Discovery would have been two or three decades after the end of the Dominion War. The Klingon Empire has joined the Federation. Starfleet has become more militarized under their direction, justified thanks to the fear of another Dominion War and a retaliatory strike from the Borg, utilizing the future tech taken from future Janeway's assimilation...
      But just as the Borg were about to win, they retreated. There is no sign of them. Contacts with the Delta Quadrant reveal that they have vanished from the galaxy. At the same time, distortions have appeared in the mysterious galactic barrier. Enter the USS Discovery, the first Starfleet vessel designed for exploration in years, and the first to be equipped with the perfected slipstream drive. They embark to learn the secrets of the galactic edge and find out where the Borg have gone to.
      The pilot could have opened with a speech from Federation President Jean-Luc Picard, emphasizing the importance of Starfleet's original scientific directive. There'd also be a memorial for the anniversary of Spock's disappearance after her failed to save Romulus, doubling as a memorial for Leonard Nimoy.
      Plot points could involve the origins of subspace, extragalactic threats and wonders, seeing how the Romulans fare with the loss of their homeworld... And the merger with the Klingon Empire would allow for more Klingon characters in Starfleet. Perhaps throw a twist in with a full-blooded Klingon science officer.

    Some hardcore trekkie nerd correct me if I'm wrong, but I feel that if the Enterprise had used warp engine power to bolster the shields and do what they did in that one episode with the feedback wave, having the three klingon warbirds at maximum firepower and rapid-fire all the torpedoes Picard had, they would have survived two Birds of Prey long enough to win. You have two birds of prey against the Enterprise's mega shields vs all four other ships coordinating attacks on a single romulan vessel until it explodes. This wasn't a double KO, this was genius out-maneuvering and would've resulted in one seriously damaged, but still intact Enterprise and two destroyed Birds of Prey with a very high-up Romulan captain out of the picture.

    • @davidlazerz8564

      If you actually paid attention to Star Trek, you would know that winning battles and killing enemies is not the Federations goal. Much preferable to avoid fighting and convince old enemies to become new allies, exactly like the Klingons did. Destroying the warbirds does not further that goal.

      I assume you're talking about using the main deflector dish like they did in Best of Both Worlds? If I recall correctly, that took a good bit of preparation to set up AND it took their dish (essential for safe interstellar travel) out of commission for a good number of hours afterward. Extremely risky when you're on the edge of hostile territory and would almost certainly have additional damage to attend to before you would be able to retreat to safer space.
