They have a wall of shields held by quite probably the most resilient creatures of the middle earth with spears poking at everything that moves towards it. Essentially a fortification. And the elves jump over that shit completely negating any benefit the dwarves presented. They are supposed to be smart... Plus the war chariots charging in direct vicinity of the one thing that can harm them, trolls, riding the bear into a melee which is something no cavalry should ever do (same with the elk) and risking the leaders ending up surrounded at which point their personal guards get slaughtered. In the book at least Tolkien made an effort to outline strategies.

first time i saw the dwarf king i laughed so hard... i mean who enters a battle zone ridding a pig ?!!! and an armored one above all things :D i mean really a pig ?!!! the other dwarves have rams... but no we had to give the ugliest looking pig ever to the man who represents our race... no wonder that the elves don't repsect them !!!
