- Hello all! Welcome to the prologue to my BRAND NEW upcoming video series on the many worlds of of Lego Dimensions and all of the inner workings that make up the core of the game. I've been hard at work for the past 6 months aiming to make this video series the best it can possibly be, and now after all that time spent researching, planning, and preparing for this moment, it's time for my very first video on the series to release! I hope you're all as excited as I am!
With that said, this video in particular serves more as just a brief overview on what the game actually is. I don't go into any depth or detail in regards to the specific content of the game; rather this is just meant to provide some background information on the game's history and vast array of content that was produced for it during its run. Needless to say, covering it all is going to be no small feat, but I think I'm up to the task! This has been another one of those passion projects of mine that I've eagerly been awaiting the opportunity to finally release, so needless to say I'm excited to see where this goes.
Starting with this video, I intend to upload a new Lego Dimensions on the first Friday of every month, although there may be a few exceptions here and there if special circumstances arise. I think the "once a month" upload schedule is the most feasible thing for me to do because it will give me enough time in between each video to play through the next adventure world, write my scripts, prepare any new assets if needed, and so on and so forth. As I say in the video I'm open to any and all criticism, so by all means please give me any suggestions you may have for this series of videos down in the comments below!

When certain characters are together, or if certain characters interact with certain vehicles, they’ll make a few quips about them, and in other cases have full-on conversations. There are entire compilations of them on UA-cam, so I think it would be pretty cool if you went through these and picked a few of your favorites when talking about each character. If more than one character talks, give the interaction to the one who spoke first.
Speaking of which, make sure you bring up the voice cast, as it was absolutely stacked out the rear. I’d also play through the story of Lego City Undercover before you play through the content in Dimensions. Don’t worry, it’s pretty fun, if not a bit of a slog to get through, and you could probably make a video reviewing it if you’d like. Oh, and give Gizmo the Scooby Snack. Trust me.
Been super interested in the idea of LEGO Dimensions but it felt so huge I didn't know where to begin. Looking forward to this series of videos!

Part of the enjoyment for me was the discovery of these worlds through something I already love: LEGO. I will recommend to get the most out of the game, make sure to highlight some of the little conversations specific characters have with each other and with the vehicles. Packattack has a great video that showcases each one, so feel free to pick and choose your favorites.
Oh I definitely want to get into the smaller details & references that are contained within each world for sure! I'm currently working on how I'm going to structure these videos so that I can highlight some really cool and obscure things buried in the game that pertains to each franchise. The writing in this game is pretty smart from what I've noticed with the franchises I am familiar with; definitely going to be researching the other IPs so I have more knowledge of them before playing through their world.

LEGO Dimensions was probably the greatest crossover to ever be made. Seeing so many franchises from so many different mediums, styles, eras, and companies combine forces was and still is utterly unreal, and I'm SO HAPPY you're dissecting the game so thoroughly.
I know Dimensions content isn’t in demand anymore, but man, this is just at the right time. I just got a huge wave of nostalgia

I been playing dimensions again lately and I love the idea of a series dissecting it. Idk where it could fit but it would be cool to hear about the production of the game and the cancelled content since many characters never got made.
I don't know if this is what you meant by tid bit but the verison of the Cyberman in this game can fly in the show and it's even apart of its leaving animation but they didn't actually include that ability in its moveset.
This is my favorite Toys-to-life game. Can't wait to see more of this
Just watched this series completely out of order, and it was really great! No idea if you're planning to continue it, but even if you don't, I'm grateful for the amazing content you provided!
I do have one nitpick, though. It doesn't really matter, but you mentioned that you could only earn CHI through combat in one of your videos. However, there are these weird long statues with a CHI ball at the top that you can just get infinite CHI from. A part of the puzzle is usually connected to finding that statue and using it to gain CHI, with combat CHI only really being required when there are infinitely respawning enemies.
Still a great series, though!
All the Disney Infinity games are on Steam with all the content included. I wish Lego Dimensions did this.
I feel like the new Funko Fusion game is going to be a great example of how Lego Dimensions could've worked out
I really love Lego Dimensions! It's my most favorite Lego video game of all time. I do hope that there would be a Lego Dimensions 2. I emailed Lego about Lego Dimensions 2 a couple weeks ago, and they seemed to think it would be great if they made a Lego Dimensions 2 game, especially with the characters I suggested to them like Godzilla (2014/2019/2021), King Kong (2017/2021) and Mechagodzilla (2021). They even passed my feedback to the Lego video game design team. Although they don't know if the game will have a sequel, but they did say that anything is possible if the demand is there. I also hope that the 75 playable characters from the first game will be playable in the second game too.

Holy Moly it looks like not only you have to review each pack thankfully I have sent Family Gaming Channel Generic B and Malice Doll plus Real-Deal to unbox and build while doing gameplay while Blitz-winger is sent to cover the Lego Brick Adventures that's plenty of waves to cover.
The sonic level pack is the best part of the game if you bought

In some of the levels there would be tardis spots that could take you to completely different locations a few that I enjoyed were the ones based off some Hanna Barbara cartoons that didn’t make it into dimensions including the flintstones house and the jetsons house it was nice of them to include references to scooby doos sister shows also in the DC comics adventure world there is a reference to sponge bob at the bottom of Atlantis that features a small recreation of sponge bobs house squidwards house and Patrick’s rock and on top of that you can find brick built fish that look like Nemo and Dory from finding Nemo in Atlantis

Very nice start to this video series, loved this game and supported it when it was new but the Hire a Hero feature certainly wasn’t the best. Would love to see you discuss the exclusive TTG episode that released at the start of year 2, I noticed you didn’t bring that up.
Wait TTG made an exclusive EPISODE to tie in with Lego Dimensions???
Yeah. Just put TTG character down, look at the TV to the side of the TTG portal, and there should be an option to watch it. You could also probably look it up on UA-cam, but since you have it, watching it in-game is probably the way to go.
There was a point where I almost got Lego Dimensions, but I passed on it.
I was honestly thinking of doing an overarching video series just like this for the longest time now, I just wanted to get an online presence started first, along with having knowledge of what I was doing. I’ll still find another way to make mine different from yours, but until then, I’m so excited to see what you’re going to do!

I'm shocked this did not become a Lego movie
Something worth mentioning about the release order: it was actually just straight impossible to full clear both waves 100% until every pack was released. There were exactly 4 bricks in the base game that required Slimer, and he was in wave 5, while wave 2 gated off several adventure worlds until their last set (notably Beetlejuice) but also the Power Construct ability as a whole was gated off until the last wave if you missed the limited time promotion to get Supergirl. It was FUCKED having to wait.
EDIT: My recommended set of characters going for clearing objectives in the adventure worlds are the 2016 Ghostbusters, Chase McCain, and Marceline. They have the widest range of abilities between the three of them, with seldom few not available. You can unlock Chase's costume switching in his adventure world free of charge (once you unlock them they are there to stay), and you can tag between the Ghostbusters upon completing their story pack (incredibly recommended as soon as you can (i.e. when you get all 5 keystones together) they alone have a huge portion of abilities)

Whoa really? That's some really useful insight, thanks for sharing! I'm definitely going to have to keep that in mind going forward with future videos, it's kinda wild to me that they would lock off such a small chunk of content until the very end of its lifespan like that. Fascinating.
Hopefully Green Arrow and Supergirl toy tags worked for you as there were reports of their toy tags not working because of how they were released.

Honestly dude, this video sold me on your channel lol. Dimensions is so nostalgic to me, my mate and I used to play it religiously when we were 11/12, and we used to lend each other our packs that the other didn't have so we could experience as much of the game as we could. Thinking back on it made me want to buy the game again, so I did. Definitely was not cheap, especially making sure that I had Sonic, my previous favourite character and Chell, as I've since become a huge Portal 2 fan lol.
Really looking forward to watching the rest of the series, and would love to see it continued if you're up for it. What were your favourite packs?
This may have been commented before, but in case it wasn’t you can have a flying character access an area and then put another character with the ability you need on the portal and they’ll appear right there, for example say you need Batman to use his grapple well you can just use Blossom to fly up there but Batman on the portal and then he’ll appear next to her, this will be very useful if you want to skip certain puzzles and platforming sections, it kinda breaks the game in half.
I really liked this game for what it was. Unfortunately, that doesn't stop it from being a gigantic cash grab. I was already hooked into skylanders before this, so I was already done with the collection stuff. (Of which I had alot for skylanders). But atleast skylanders didn't add dlc barred behind a big data requirement for mostly unobtainable content. Atleast, If your like me, and only bought the sonic pack. If this game was free and all you had to buy was the character packs, then I think it would be awesome.
Here are some of my favourite Lego Dimensions I used to own but still playthrough awhile back as one of my favourites, and like you said before; I don't buy every single one of the other just to waste my hard earn money for there stupid paywall and here's one of them.

If I recommend something for the series, when it's comes to series your not into or not familiar with maybe contact people of that fandom so you know what your getting into and not going in blind that way you won't get people complaining how you didn't get *blank* right for this and that

I bet if you put up a pole one which level pack for year two was the best, sonic the hedgehog would definitely win.
I agree that getting all of the packs is not necessary and it costs a lot of money. Although I am one of those people who eventually bought every pack. Not right away, but over time.
Tip: Look at all the characters by their abilities and get characters through those so that you would only need to get every ability in order to fully complete the game. That's how I did it originally before going for every pack. For example, since Batman can use the Invisibility ability, you don't need to get anyone else just for that ability.
Also, don't get the Green Arrow or Supergirl figures. They were event exclusives. I was able to get Green Arrow through Black Friday, but I had to pay $90 for Supergirl. She's awesome, but not worth it as all of her abilities, even the lantern ones, can be done by other characters in Year Two.
Plus, be careful with the tags. I had to replace a vehicle tag in one pack as the one I originally got didn't work, and my Finn tag suddenly stopped working and I had to shell out money to get a replacement.
The prices of all off the products besides the starter pack were definitely way cheaper back then then they are today
Been years since I played the game so I might be wrong but I think with the hire a hero and the challenges that require you to move them on the toypad you need to move the character they replaced, for example when it told you to move Ethan Hunt it ment move the powerpuff girl he was swapped out with.
Oh man, I want to play this, but every time I pull it out to try, my toddler comes and steals and disassembles all the pieces.
You could've gotten all the characters and vehicles for like 20-30 bucks if you just got the nfc tags

If the Powerpuff Girl pack was any indication of how much love and detail was put into the respective shows lore or continuity then I'd love to see just how the other shows were done.
ESPECIALLY considering it was PPG 2016 lol. Yeah, I plan to invest some time into each property before making the corresponding video just so I'm more aware of the references that are being made.
Idk if others asked but when you reach the TTG content would it also mean a review of the of the episode “The dimensions crisis” which was also part of the pack? Like they made an actual Lego TTG episode for the pack which was later on aired on CN if I remember well. Which I think it’s the only case something like this was done for dimensions besides the levels for some of the story and level packs which are levels rather than video.
This game might have been expensive to get all the characters, but the cool part is that you can use the lego minifigures you got with your normal lego sets
Wish there was a way to get some sort of all in one for a reasonable price...

I watched this video and I ended up ordering Lego dimensions for the 360 sealed for a cheap price
I have played only two toys to life games when I was younger. One lesser known and the other more known especially by people my age . I still have the figures/toys in storage.
I played Webkinz first. Little stuffed animals that you care for in the game. I loved this stuff. I think I got about 8 of these. I still hear about this online every now and then.
I also played UB funkeys. Which I have never heard about or met anyone who has known about since it shut down.
I agree that TtL is annoying and gets in the way of a good game. It's the same reason I struggle with things like Magic the Gathering and Pokémon TCG. The game looks fun, but the collectability puts me off.
However, I know if this came out when I was a kid, I would be 100% sucked in to it without a doubt.

lego Dimensions is the best toys to life cause you can actually play with the character unlike every other toys to life and lego gets expensive as years go on fore making the game and character packs more expensive with time

Loved this game when it came out but it ended up being such a massive cash grab. Never was able to collect everything due to certain packs becoming ridiculously expensive or flat out rare due to not being sold in my area
Hi. I don’t know if you’ll see this comment, but I just finished your series of the 2016 Powerpuff Girls review videos. Good riddance to that show.
Anyway, I felt empathy when you talked about how 2017 was difficult for you, and it sort of hit home when you showed a clip of Chester Bennington. 2017 was difficult for me, too, along with 2016, 2018, 2019, and, of course, 2020. 2017 in particular was horrible when it came to college; because of that particular semester in 2017, I gave up trying to make friends in college.
I’m happy you were able to find joy making videos in 2017. I’m also happy to be a part of your community, even if I just subscribed this year in May/June.

Where can i buy all or most of the tags in lots for cheap?
I recommend doing what I did buying the disc and portal, and then programming your own toy tags. They’re are tons of videos online showing you how to do so.

Nice thing is you can just use nfc213 chips for all the characters, I just bought the base set for PS3 and the portal set cuz well I like portal... So uhhh my guy you spent a lot on toy tags you didn't need lol

I have two ideas for this series.
First off, if the franchises represented didn't spill into the released content from the other IPs, then I'd focus more on the protagonist or mascot of each world when playing the game. For example, in the case of The Lego Movie, play as both Emmett and Wildstyle, due to the latter being a base game requirement, while the former was an additional release.
Or, in the case of something like The Lord of the Rings, play as Gandalf for most of the video focused on that game.
Second, if it's at all possible, could you please touch on some of the cut content for a potential Year 3 had that not gotten scrapped? I think that would make for a fine epilogue.
Again, this is your call.
The first idea you mentioned is exactly how I intend to play it! I want to use the specific characters that pertain to each adventure world as much as possible and only switch over to another franchise when it is necessary to complete a certain challenge. This way, the franchise in question is represented as much as possible in their corresponding video!
As far as Year 3 content goes, that'll definitely make for an interesting epilogue video IF I can find enough information on it. I've stumbled across 2 different supposed leaks but only a few of the franchises mentioned in them overlap. I'd definitely like to though, and hopefully as this series continues I'll be able to learn more info about Year 3!
@@ShadowStreak So, for the purposes of this series, would you spend more time and resources playing the Starter, Story, and Level Packs? Because if I were doing this series, most of the Team and Fun Packs would be cut out to save my energy.
As for the Year 3 rumors, how about we just focus on the ones that overlap this time around? That way, you can give some personal opinions on the side about whether or not you would have enjoyed them.
In any case, though, I'm just glad to help your series flourish.

So erm... I actually stopped playing dimensions because I realised it was getting in my head, like I had pages open looking for the tags and I realised I couldn't afford it and didn't really want them; point is the game prays on that part of your brain and I'm not happy.
I got my PS4 version for $50 brand new

My suggestion is that you buy me a copy of Teardown on Steam.
For real though, I think having some baseline experience with Skylanders and Disney Infinity may be good for when you reach the eventual "final thoughts" portion of this venture.
Since amiibo aren't really toys to life in the same way, I think playing or doing extensive research on the other two T2L behemoths can provide a decent point of thorough comparison.

Why Lego dimensions failed?
Too much money. Too many extras. Skylanders and Disney Infinity were not cheap games to play by any means, but Warner Bros. and TT Games' entry was almost offensively expensive and some of the mini figures can be worth up to 100 pounds nor 50 cause of how rare they are cause there Not in stores and tbh I like Lego dimensions and I was sad that it discounted but they weren’t cheap anyways and Disney and sky landers successed cause they were cheap FUCK EVEN A DISNEY FIGURES 5 POUNDS
