Say what you want, I’ll still love this game for what it is- a game that allowed to create experiences with so many different characters, the only limit bring the imagination!
Yes I totally agree is so cool to have back to the future, the Simpson, gremlins, et, wizard of Oz, sonic and many others all merged together, love it.
The Wii U version is the most BROKEN VERSION of this game, completely broken, should have played it on the other consoles for a much higher better playthrough of this game
When I played it on my Wii U, the game decided that it needed to download a update, which couldn't be downloaded, even though there wasn't a actual update.
I think that the main problem lies with the Toys to Life games as a whole. Sky landers didn’t work cause of greedy practices, Disney infinity was a lack of interest, and LEGO dimensions is all over the place. The prospect of “buying” new teammates is just an idea that can only work for so long until a buisness tries to capitalize massively on it.
Disney Infinity failed because of behind the scenes choices. Over stocking 2.0 figures and releasing almost all the Marvel characters at once, characters made to promote new movies that weren’t successful, not being allowed to use characters that would have been a huge success, etc.
Dimensions should've been a normal Lego game. I hope that now production has ended, perhaps they can just release a new version of the game that's less buggy and plays more like a standard LEGO game(Basically not being allowed to use characters outside of the level's freeplay mode or in the Adventure worlds) and perhaps even add a couple more levels and worlds to incentivise people to get the game. And for people who already went through the trouble of getting figures and whatnot could connect the pad to their system just to immediatly unlock whatever vehicles or characters they have in the game for Adventure Worlds and Free Play mode versions of levels. And Characters and vehicles could be unlocked by a shop like any other Lego game. Oh and they could jsut change the toy pad puzzles to something else.
lol also he says Skylanders/Disney Infinity did it 'right' but LEGO Dimensions failed. That's the biggest wtf. LEGO Dimensions was so much better than Skylanders/Disney.
That’s so wild that the game was so glitchy for you on the Wii U. Cause I own it in that and the only glitch I remember running into was the game soft locking if you opened it without the tablet lmao
I disagree on a couple of points. Year 1 of Dimensions worked as intended. The brokeness started with Year 2, as Tt added new characters and abilities that didn't mesh with established game. I think Dimensions got some things right. As you said not enough to save the genre or even itself. For one, the characters interact with each other is a hoot. You never knew how a character or why. Like Dr. Who and Doc Brown. Or Batman mistaken every Chima figure for someone in the DC universe. special easter egg goes to Green Arrow not trusting Capt. Jack in Dr. Who's world I also liked the rent-a-hero feature. If you came to a puzzle you could rent a hero for 30 seconds so as to not interrupt gameplay or force you to by a character at the store. That limited progression to the amount of studs you collect which are plentiful. Midway Arcade was a favorite before Year 2 broke it. You could unlock games in the story mode and play them an unlimited amount in Midway world. Spyhunter, Joust, Rampage and many others. Don't get me wrong. I liked the concepts of Year 2. But THAT really broke the game and Lego pulled the plug before anyone could get around to fixing it.
In defense of the Eris flying problem, you're expected to play through the story mode using only the starter characters, Batman, Gandalf, and Wyldstyle, none of whom can fly. Flying is just an available option. Seriously, all of your complaints revolve around the way YOU decided play the game; you don't have to completely fill up your pad with characters, you don't have to use flying characters, etc.
Jesus Christ on a bike! Not really; you as the player have the choice of using a flying character and making the whole experience boring for yourself, or sticking to the suggested characters.
Jacob Martin i just order him and im really interested to play him in Dimensions! Though i wasnt born in the 80s i was born in the late 2000s though it would be interesting to see the old retro style games in a lego game
what you said about the pad gimmicks and how you can't use them, the simple solution is to not have your pad full of characters. instead just have what ever character you need to solve the puzzle and 2-3 other characters you like to play as. I play like this all the time and it's super easy, besides if you want to enjoy the puzzles and platforming parts of the game then just don't have flying characters on your pad, you know challenge yourself. I mean the starter pack of the game had no flying characters or vehicles for that very reason but they couldn't make the game with no flying characters at all (SuperMan, the TARDIS, WonderWoman etc.) also also actually actually flying characters have been in Lego games for years and that's why those games had story mod AND free play mode so you would have to solve the puzzles at least once before flying over the level
I agree the second time you fly over the level so that you collect the minikit and pearls and probably red brick depending on which we are talking about
Flying characters breaking the game is kind of down to you. Almost every Lego game has flying characters, but the ability to use any character is locked until you've already beaten a level at least once. If you want to compromise your experience of the game by skipping over the majority of the puzzles, that's your fault, not the game's. You also mention that the Toy Pad puzzles are clunky, demonstrating this point by showing you attempting to solve a puzzle with a full Toy Pad. This wouldn't be a problem if you didn't have a full Toy Pad all the time. Just take some of the figures off when you get to a Toy Pad puzzle, its no big deal. A few of your other criticisms (character deaths not meaning anything, no upgrade system for characters) aren't really criticisms of the game itself, and more that the game isn't the same as other Toys to Life games. This is because Lego Dimensions uses the same formula as every other Lego game, with Toys to Life elements incorporated into it, rather than it being a completely new formula designed specifically for Toys to Life. This also kind of answers your point about the Toys to Life aspect seeming kind of gimmicky, though it doesn't necessarily negate it. It seems that Lego Dimensions didn't really meet your expectations, which is fair enough, but I don't think it's fair to brand this game as a 'hot mess' when the majority of your problems with it are down to that fact. Also, I might be wrong here, but going by the footage shown in this video, it looks like you didn't even finish the main story of the game.
You have to understand his points given that for a long time, Lego games were for kids. What kid isn't going to use a flying character to get through all of the levels?
If a game is meant to be played a certain way, why would the developers allow for the game to be exploited like this? Just because one guy says he likes doing the puzzles doesn't give it a pass.
Ion PC Your point is kind of dumb. The inclusion of flying characters CAN make the puzzles useless if the player CHOOSES to skip them. That's not the developer's fault. It's yours, for being impatient enough to skip over the puzzles. On the other hand, flying characters allow for more varied puzzles, more interesting challenges, more accurate characters, and it makes replaying levels less tedious because you can skip over puzzles to the collectables you need. The developers could have not included flying characters, but that would make open-world exploration more boring, and it would ruin characters like Superman or Wonder Woman. It also means the developers couldn't include flying vehicles, because those pose the same problem, so iconic vehicles like the DeLorean and the TARDIS wouldn't be included. The other option is the developers could have made it so you could only use the base 3 characters during your first playthrough. Dimensions has a huge emphasis on freedom, so limiting gameplay like that would be really dull. It would also mean that you couldn't use any expansions until you've finished all 15 levels in the main story. Basically, trying to solve the flying character problem would only cause more problems, and it's more of a problem with the player anyway.
honestly this game was a hidden gem. i loved the crossover aspects the game had (especially with themes we've never seen in lego before), and i love the open world sections. i've always loved the lego games so i was already used to the level design and the different features and abilities the characters had. the problems i have with it are the bugs. i had the xbox one version but there still were so many bugs. i dont even know how last gen players got to even play the game. the entire game was basically a long term lego game and honestly that doesn't deserve the enormous price tag (well, the one it used to have). it's a shame really, that this game died. I hope the game's concept of crossing over franchises is brought back into a new lego game without the toys-to-life aspect
I never bought the game, so I assume this is an accurate review. As for the toys themselves let's just say that this theme will be dearly missed (don't deny the appeal of getting over 20 different IPs being made into LEGO)
I did buy the game and my experience was much better than this because I got Eris at a much later point in my collection, so I got to play and platform in the levels without flying and the major draw for me was touring the assets of the open worlds of all these stories
I bought the game last Ocober, and bought pretty much 70% of the packs. I thoroughly enjoy it due to the fan service it provides. I plan my channel to include a lot of videos about it. Even though this video addresses the issues, I am just SO Glad people are still talking about this game!
From what I can tell this review is accurate, but only because whatever version/system he's on seems faulty, when I played I had none of the issues he mentioned.
When my little brother played this, he would remove the legos, and have little papers taped to the bases just so he could play with the mini figure They were solid characters
Personally, I disagree. While 100$ is too much, some of the points brought up are down-right ridiculous. Saying that the BTTF Level Pack is "the best" is objectively wrong, it's the most hated one from all of them, because of the story-skip, Marty being pretty much useless and lack of additions to make up for it. The Wii U problem is noticeable, however, it worked fine on my Wii U. The cluttered Toy Pad is easily resolved: Just don't clutter your Toy Pad and place the characters when you need them. The flight ability was designed to skip puzzles, and a lot of people aren't using flight specifically for that, they are using it to stop walking slowly to move forward. If anything, the main criticism should be the character choices and the lack of ability updates, tying into the Marceline problem stated in the video.
Except 1: Why would I take the long way around the puzzles? I thought the goal was to finish the game? If I can avoid the busywork, why wouldn't I? 2: I want to maximize the number of abilities I have in play. If you give me seven slots, why would you expect me to not use all seven? Not to mention several characters get penalized by being removed, so I want them to stay in play.
My point is, you don't criticize the game objectively. Some of the points in the video are straight up nitpicking, because the game doesn't support your playing style. The game has a lot of good things to offer, like you said, it was the (literal) gateway for many franchises (such as Ghostbusters, Powerpuff Girls etc.) to get actual Lego themes. The gimmick of using all kinds of different licensed characters and having them interact with each other is something Skylanders and Disney Infinity can't brag about. The Adventure Worlds are also not meant to "level your character up" or have a story mode, they are meant to be open worlds, with Easter Eggs for fans of said franchises. Case in point, I thought the review was pretty biased.
Have to agree, the BTTF level was pretty dissapointing. Like okay, I can see why they don't martys mom falling in love with him in such a game. But at least the story with his father and a battle gainst biff could have been there. Actually a lot of times I got the feeling that the game was constently statting how "better" doktor Who over BTTF is.
I actually liked this game. Look at all the franchises that were made into LEGO that have never been made into LEGO before. We got Portal, Goonies, Beetlejuice, E.T., the Wizard of Oz, Doctor Who, Adventure Time, Mission Impossible, the A-Team, Gremlins, Teen Titans GO!, Knight Rider, the Powerpuff Girls, and SONIC THE FREAKING HEDGEHOG!!!! I loved it and the Kingdom Hearts feel to the story was great. I actually hope that we’ll get a sequel to this game that’ll bring not just more themes together like Star Wars, Marvel, Disney and TMNT, but hopefully we can also get some more beloved franchises made into LEGO for the first time like Willy Wonka, Star Trek, Men in Black, Mass Effect, Street Fighter, Final Fantasy, and I am on my knees for Kingdom Hearts to be made into LEGO. And maybe even some Super Mario minifigures too. So yeah I don’t know what people didn’t like about LEGO Dimensions because it is awesome.
No mention of the open play worlds? That was some of my favorite part! I, being an avid fan of LEGO and owning every single character there is to own (excluding maybe the Chima stuff and Ninjago duplicates) also made sure I got my money's worth and collected every single gold brick available. It gave us so many characters that were otherwise not available (LEGO really slept on it's Adventure time license) and was a great game to play with my girlfriend, since the Wii U gave us two different screens to use, instead of the split screen bull shit. The concept was really fun and I enjoyed the story immensely. There are a lot of glitches, but TT Games is honestly a garbage company and LEGO should really cut ties with them already, because all of their games are glitchy messes. I was disappointed they didn't complete their final year of their 3 year plan, I was really looking forward to more exclusive minifigures.
Keep in mind that this is the wii u version of the game ps3 and 360 don't work but it is very clean and good in the ps4 and xbox one versions of the game
I had a similar experience except I made a clear move to not use my flying character, Slimer or anything else that could fly unless I needed to, if a puzzle was too obtuse or I was looking to speedrun to a certain part of a level. Instead of maining Eris (who I don't have or intend on getting), I used Sonic. And man was it fun to speed around with him, I used him every chance I got to. In terms of design, I actually believe it was smartly done. The game was made so that you could get through the main story mode without using other characters. If all you had were Batman, Wildstyle and Gandalf, you could playthrough the game. Any other toy you bought separately was a bonus that let you play secret areas in the main story or in their worlds. And if you got a Level Pack, they made sure you could play it without needing any other character except the one it came with. It allowed some freedom in how you wanted to play through the game. You can play it normally with what you're given or you can buy the different packs to add to the fun. One thing I'll totally agree with you on are the Toy Pad puzzles. The first time I encountered this I was amazed they came up with an idea for moving the figures around. But after awhile it got annoying to get up from where I was playing so that I could mess with the Toy Pad when all I wanted to do was sit and chill.
This is my experience with the game so far -Characters not reading -The instruction pad for the Simpsons TV wouldn't pop up until the fourth try -Crashing
How did you get these bugs to occur? I've played a fair but of this game but I've seen hardly any bugs at all. Why is it that the games always work incorrectly for the you tubers!?
My favourite thing to come out of this game was seeing Doc Brown and Doctor Who diss each other's time machines. For those who are curious: The Doctor entering the DeLorean: "I could save the universe three times over before this 'baby' hits 88 miles per hour. Quickly! Back to the TARDIS!" Doc Brown entering the TARDIS: "You really should have listened to me when I said 'If you're gonna build a time machine, do it with some style!' "
I don't understand the point you made about Eris. You can have two objectives in this game: 1. To have fun and solve the puzzles 2. To finish the game If you just want to finish the game, then there is no flaw in using Eris, because the whole reason you bought the game is to finish it, right? Now, if you want to have fun and spend time on the puzzles, just don't use Eris. Simple as that.
A few things; #1 and #2 kinda fall under the same thing, as really everyone plays the game to finish it, everything has an end. If they wanted to block Eris's op flying ability, they could've put invisible walls to block that, but alas they clearly expected for you to pay money to beat the game easier. And finally, maybe they shouldn't have added a character in a game, who had the ability to glide like in every Lego game with supernatural physics, remove that, then give her infinite flight like Iron Man. Iron Man & Suits at least didn't break the game with flying.
It has its flaws, quite a few of them, but it’s still a great game. 1. If you want to enjoy the game, don’t use a flying character. 2. Don’t fill up your portal pad thing and instead put the fewest amount of characters on the portal.
5:41 when I used to play this as a kid it was just cool seeing the worlds that I recognised in lego I didn't care about farming studs or gold bricks I just wanted to play as marty mcfly in the tardis flying around springfield
i love LEGO Dimensions & i have the wii u version & yeah it is... buggy, but i do have all the figures (including Green Arrow & Supergirl), with a amazing story, great humor, amazing figures, the fact that we have LEGO Sonic & Portal & the dance party after unlocking all gold bricks from year 1 (also a line made by Lord Vortech is a line i use several times ''i am not even on the chess board, i am the hand that controls every single piece'')
As a kid all I had an idea which could've been LEGO's Magnum Opus. Basically take the idea of Lego Dimensions and subtract the toys to life part but rather than having all these franchises who'd never been lego until this game they would crossover any and all franchises who either had lego games and or sets. As a kid this sounded great imagine Batman and Indiana Jones beating up bad guys or whatever but copyright issues ruin all the fun. Then as a much older Teen this came out and I was a bit skeptical at first that was until year 2 seeing both my favorite TV Show and Movie both getting sets INSTANTLY made my childhood self cry (Gremlins and Adventure Time) This game is great for what it is but I still wish that it was a standalone game rather than toys to life i'd much rather have Lego Dimensions where any level pack after the base release was DLC
Have to agree there, and I haven't even played a single portal game before that XD Mostly just got me the pack cause I needed the cube and the portal gun for some puzzles. Totally worth it. And yes, I finally played the actual Portal 2 recently. Really is a great game. :)
I actually only encountered two major glitches in the Wii U version. The first was the game softlocked after I used the hire-a-hero feature. The second was when I kept dying over and over when I used a flying vehicle to skip past a portion of the third final level, which I kinda deserved.
Man, and I thought Sonic was broken, like if you complete his story pack, you get to play as Super Sonic, and he's completely invincible and thus, he breaks everything.
Personally I freaking love this game and I never had a big problem with anything you said in you're video. My pad thing wasn't ever too crowded unless I had someone else playing with me and the only thing I had that could fly was the Tardis but I never skipped through anything and as if for bugs I only encountered a very low amount of game breaking bugs the worst being my game crashing.
I bought the game last Ocober, and bought pretty much 70% of the packs. I thoroughly enjoy it due to the fan service it provides. I plan my channel to include a lot of videos about it. Even though this video addresses the issues, I am just SO Glad people are still talking about this game!
Wanten the Stormtrooper I can see what you mean by that, but I never really felt that way. I just think it was a fun game that got me into franchises like Back To The Future and Beetlejuice.
I was majorly bummed when I couldn't afford this game at launch. It was the Doctor Who elements that appealed to me the most 'cause I was still really into that show at the time. Flash Foward two years and I'd probably have forgotten about it completely if it weren't for every other store selling the odd story pack for as little as £5.
When I heard of lego dimensions I thought it would be whatever you build can be used in the game like the lego houses mobile app fail if anyone remembers that. It's sad to see the genre of game I grew up with that got me into gaming die but all good things have to come to an end I guess.
Edward West-Summers a.k.a. CrimsonWitch26 there were a couple of rumored sets for a possible third year. Minecraft, new Doctor Who content, Cw Flash and a final one featuring Vortech.
Flying characters in LEGO games were a thing since LEGO Batman 2 i think well i'm pretty damn sure. LEGO Batman 2 came out in 2012 and LEGO dimensions came out in 2015 and In Lego Batman 2 and 3 I'm pretty sure you could Cheat with Superman and over characters Even in Lego Marvel and Lego Avengers you could cheat I cheated with Iron Man and Thor and Spider man to get over areas
Well, unless you play 3D Sonic, which FREAKING ALL SONIC GAMES ARE NOW, you'll be good at races cuz it's SONIC! Do you even know Sonic? Sonic the FASTEST LIVING THING. Its supposed to be hard, or do you want Sonic, the slowest living thing?
The issue is you're comparing LEGO Dimensions to proper titles like Owlboy. No it's not in the same ballpark. It's meant to be a kids game for crying out loud. It's buggy, and it's too easy, but I love it. It has charm leaking out of it everywhere you look, the figures are fantastic, the variety of licenses is startling, and the fact they let all the different licenses interact with each other (unlike Disney's effort) is brilliant.
On the subject of character ability tranparency; The collection screen in game that shows off all toys lists all their abilities on their individual pages. It's why i bought only the characters i needed for 100% completion. Sadly i was never able to play the Year 2 content since i couldn't download the update due to my crappy internet. :/
I still highly enjoy this game but I would be lying if I say I could not agree with some of your complains, specially how flying breaks the game (luckely I got me my marceline much much later, so I had to play the normal way XD). Still I would say it's a decent and fun game. The toys are great, and the story is still pretty epic and a lot of fun. Even some of the level packs like "Portal2", "The lego batman movie" and "ghostbsuters" I highly enjoy. For the hubworlds... yeah they don't offer that much except some nice references here and there, but they are still fun to go through if you are feeling bored. ;P Only thing I certainly would have wished for was a lego racers addition, where you can drive in many different races and against your friends and/or Computer. This way the vehicles would have much more use. Of course the races have to be also for walking vehicles. Like Marcelines Boom-box-spider. It has such a cool design, but I never ever found a reason to actually use the damn thing in the game
Zachary Brafman wish that experience was what my family had. On Xbox 360 we had to figure out some rules to keep the game playable... No more than 5 tokens, no vehicle tokens on center pad unless you are saving to them. Try to only use the flying characters when you need them. Etc if you break any of those then the game goes horribly wrong quite quickly and often.
For me the Xbox version soft locks somewhat frequently. And by soft lock I mean that the animations are still running, but the sounds stop, and everything is completely unresponsive. It also likes to soft lock during loading screens. And sometimes the game will not allow me to progress even though I completed a puzzle correctly, which is quite frustrating given the INSANE amount of puzzles in this game. And other times it will not allow me to spawn in characters that weren't already on the portal when I entered the level. which is game breaking as I cannot progress without that characters specific skill I needed. Every single one of these problems FORCES me to hard reset to console as not even the home menu will respond during a soft lock. I had to shelf this game twice out of frustration and sheer dislike of the painfully frequent amount of puzzles. And these problems aren't far apart either. I encounter at least two of these every single time I load the game, or attempt to load, in my case since sometimes I can't even get to the title screen.
I have the Wii U game but I don't have trouble with it... Maybe the glitches are only in the NTSC version... I dunno. Also, the fact there's a BTTF world and a Gremlins world even though they use the same set... Literally, the worlds are almost the same but the Gremlins world had the Cinema, that's all!
Ok, you complaining about being able to Fly, The catchphrase of the game is *Break the Rules!* - Next up, you got the Wii U version, no wonder you hate it so much, I’m a Nintendo gamer myself, but I played the game on PS4 (my secondary system), just because it is a bit more powerful to support all the data The adventure worlds, they are meant to be for solving puzzles, not for the sake of upgrading veichles with gold bricks, The main point was just to mash up franchises, Have Sonic driving the Jakemobile through the world of teen titans GO, and so forth, It wasn’t about getting figures just for their abilitys, their was a completionist aspect to them too, I would suggest Blitzwinger’s videos if you really wanted to get an idea, In terms of Eris, you talk about her as the only flying character, let alone don’t even talk about the flying vehicles, which if your gonna judge the ability to fly through levels, at least mention that eris isn’t the only one who can fly, You missed a lot of things in this video, so just, whatever
You think Eris is broken? Superman/ Supergirl (if you can find her). Elemental puzzles? No problem as they have frost breath and heat beams, they can fly, they're invincible, and Supergirl can even become a Red Lantern and do Lantern construct puzzles. She even doesn't have the Superman them playing when she flies. There is no reason to play anyone else unless they're needed for a puzzle.
Pretty Sure Eris was actually a late edition to the cast, so when it first came out, you couldn't just breeze through the levels. Also, the whole point of lego games is the collecting aspects. Getting any number you can higher. Studs, Gold Bricks, anything you can get, you wanna get. I always wanted to see how high I could get the stud counter, how many gold bricks I could get before needing a guide, the sense of exploration was always a joy. And this game, this game seems to take it to an all time high. The story mode offers a lot of areas to explore, but the exploration maps, I swear I am gonna faint from joy in how much I could do there. And even after I get all the gold bricks, I still revisit to just goof around in the levels. The Lego Games aren't for everyone, I can say that. But for people like me, this game was an absolute treat.
Say what you want about LEGO Dimensions it's my favorite LEGO game ever. Eris may be broken but if you play the game with just the starter pack you get the full experience of the game's platforming. I do agree however that the Wii U version was beyond redeemable it's awful. But all the points you brought up I either didn't have a problem with or you were looking at it the wrong way.
Energy The Fox Productions Because TT gave us the option to and so we took it? If she isn't meant for the main story, she shouldn't be available to play. Lego Dimensions gives us the option to play as characters that can easily be used to cheat the game, which is a huge oversight on the developers part.
This story is 100% true I played the DR.Who level with the base set and i was at the Cemetery bit and Batman was registered inside the Batmobile but he was miles off the car and glitched right through the gate and skipped the entire part
I have the game for the Wii U. Yes it does have bugs even though the bugs you ran into did not happen to me. The only bugs I ran into was one of the Ghostbusters Story Pack levels not being able to replay, my Toy Pad not working at times, a Gold Brick on the Back to the Future World did not remember that I already got it and the main menu knew that, and a glitch that the only way to resolve it was to delete the file and start all over again (even though this fixed the Ghostbusters and Back to the Future glitches). Despite these things, I still really enjoyed the game, even 100%ing the game and getting all characters out there (which if you are trying to do that now, I would buy them online since stores really aren't selling any of them anymore). Even though the bugs did frustrate me at times, I had an enjoyable experience and I may go back and replay it one day. Even though it ending before Year 3 was released did make me sad. :(
TheCamdog9 maybe the ghostbusters pack realised it was based on a terrible movie and developed a glitch so that you wouldn't have to subject yourself to the torment of Ghostbusters 2016...
Its not cancelled a user named Thomas tran made a comment and the lego dimensions facebook team made a reply and they said in the last part we'll still be seeing you in the multiverse so they hinted a sequel and yes
The fact that any thing in the game was based on the 2016 movie made Dumensions a commercial failure just waiting to happen. Seriously, did anyone at Lego see the amount of dislikes the trailers got?
I actually liked LEGO dimensions for a couple of reasons. One: the characters and the interactions that they have with each other and Two: all the different worlds you could visit and the crossovers in those worlds. LEGO dimensions allowed us to mix and match characters, vehicles, and worlds to create all kinds of crazy interactions... but I do agree with you that the game is flawed and that it didn’t totally live up to our expectations but at least for me it was fun because it let me drive the Ecto-1 as the Doctor in Gotham city
regarding character interactions I'm disappointed that bart doesn't speak in the game (considering how bart is the most mouthy character of the simpsons and yet he's as silent as Chell from portal) same with characters Harry potter, Ethan Hunter, Peter Venkman, etc. who had voice clips ripped from the shows and movies they came from. Harry doesn't even speak to anyone in the game no matter what they did to his voice. Plus I was hoping for year 1 characters to have interactions with the year 2 characters (as in year one characters talking to the year two characters)
*whistles* i only got this game for the ninjago stuff. was still a pretty solid game though, would have loved it more if nickelodeon had kept their contract with lego for this game for the tmnt characters. :/
Say what you want, I’ll still love this game for what it is- a game that allowed to create experiences with so many different characters, the only limit bring the imagination!
Yep. He says Disney Infinity was better, but Disney didn't allow you to cross the licenses together. Very limiting.
Yes I totally agree is so cool to have back to the future, the Simpson, gremlins, et, wizard of Oz, sonic and many others all merged together, love it.
The only limit is your wallet
The Wii U version is the most BROKEN VERSION of this game, completely broken, should have played it on the other consoles for a much higher better playthrough of this game
3:16
Kohdok sorry, now that i'm watching this through again, you're right, aside from that, good video!
When I played it on my Wii U, the game decided that it needed to download a update, which couldn't be downloaded, even though there wasn't a actual update.
The Wii U version works pretty well for me other than the occasional not being able to read figures bug.
Joshua 'TheTrueMaster' Baptista The PS3 version is pretty buggy too.
True.
LEGO Dimensions was a step above the others, you could rebuild the vehicles and props, and having LEGO figurines to display added a lot of value.
lol also he says Skylanders/Disney Infinity did it 'right' but LEGO Dimensions failed. That's the biggest wtf. LEGO Dimensions was so much better than Skylanders/Disney.
I like that this is the closest thing we have to a Portal 3.
The thing is LEGO Dimensions is actually toys to life. They are actually toys
That’s so wild that the game was so glitchy for you on the Wii U. Cause I own it in that and the only glitch I remember running into was the game soft locking if you opened it without the tablet lmao
Oh didn’t think you’d be here
I also had it on Wii U. The cars would spawn weird sometimes but that's about it.
Oh so the wii u version is the gta definitive edition version I have the ps4 version which seems fine so far
Never expected to see jakeneutron here
It was also buggy on the Xbox 360 version
At least when your sick and tired of the game you still have those Lego minifigures you can play with.
I think the aspect that appealed to kids was the crossover element. Batman and Homer Simpson in the same game? Nuts
My opinion is that i do actually enjoy the game
Ace 42 how the fuck is that an opinion
No one cares about you fucking hating about opinions which are supposed to be respected unless you're a pile of 3 year old edgy shit

Jack in Dr. Who's world
I also liked the rent-a-hero feature.
Exactly seriously though I think I bought the game just for Doctor who
Ri Ma exactly the same
Rahsaan Footman
Batman interacts with bart as well
Year 2 broke Midway Arcade? How come?
In my opinion lego dimensions got alot of game breaking bugs after year 2
In defense of the Eris flying problem, you're expected to play through the story mode using only the starter characters, Batman, Gandalf, and Wyldstyle, none of whom can fly. Flying is just an available option. Seriously, all of your complaints revolve around the way YOU decided play the game; you don't have to completely fill up your pad with characters, you don't have to use flying characters, etc.
TheComicCrafter
Although the PS4 starter pack included Supergirl, a OP character for that game
That’s a terrible defence.
Jesus Christ on a bike! Not really; you as the player have the choice of using a flying character and making the whole experience boring for yourself, or sticking to the suggested characters.
And the player is obviously going to choose the option that gets them the win. It’s just bad game design.
Jesus Christ on a bike! Considering one of the main points of the game was the player's ability to play however they want, I'd say no, it's not.
My favorite character was the Gamer Kid because of all of the old school 80s arcade games that you could unlock with it.
Jacob Martin i just order him and im really interested to play him in Dimensions! Though i wasnt born in the 80s i was born in the late 2000s though it would be interesting to see the old retro style games in a lego game
9:09
You got me.
Japanifornian Lawyer Joooojo!
He got him.
what you said about the pad gimmicks and how you can't use them, the simple solution is to not have your pad full of characters. instead just have what ever character you need to solve the puzzle and 2-3 other characters you like to play as. I play like this all the time and it's super easy, besides if you want to enjoy the puzzles and platforming parts of the game then just don't have flying characters on your pad, you know challenge yourself. I mean the starter pack of the game had no flying characters or vehicles for that very reason but they couldn't make the game with no flying characters at all (SuperMan, the TARDIS, WonderWoman etc.) also also actually actually flying characters have been in Lego games for years and that's why those games had story mod AND free play
mode so you would have to solve the puzzles at least once before flying over the level
I agree the second time you fly over the level so that you collect the minikit and pearls and probably red brick depending on which we are talking about
ok but its a fun hot mess
Odin Gameplay no
MeowserZ It was overpriced but i enjoyed it
I still play it from time to time, even thought I have 2 absolutly game breaking characters now XD (Marceline and Starfire)
Starfire is definitely OP, Marceline isn't. Tom Cruise from Mission Impossible is very OP if you look at this abilities.
I liked sonic
Zarbi Xii I completely agree!
You have to understand his points given that for a long time, Lego games were for kids. What kid isn't going to use a flying character to get through all of the levels?
Ion PC A kid who doesn't own a flying character yet. Or a kid who wants to solve the puzzles and play the game the way it's meant to be played.
Lego dEAmensions:
Pay 10 dollars for every two character
Exactly
Nicolas Charron Same. I can't even describe how Giddy I got when it was Year 1/2 were announced
Nicolas Charron I 100% agree.
From what I can tell this review is accurate, but only because whatever version/system he's on seems faulty, when I played I had none of the issues he mentioned.
We got Sonic and Portal LEGOs.
I really liked playing in the open words
When my little brother played this, he would remove the legos, and have little papers taped to the bases just so he could play with the mini figure
They were solid characters
The flying issue is something that other Lego games have. Those normally make you escort non-flyijg characters though
Oh my god where did you get that sitting Unikitty minifig?
Double Decker Couch.
3:49 Kirby made it work.
The Arch Because Kirby games are designed around that fact.
ReasyRandom i agree so much
Except 1: Why would I take the long way around the puzzles?
Actually a lot of times I got the feeling that the game was constently statting how "better" doktor Who over BTTF is.
lol you destroyed him
I actually liked this game.
Remember, this is the closest thing to portal 3
Have you ever tried doing a speed run of the thing?...
Keep in mind that this is the wii u version of the game ps3 and 360 don't work but it is very clean and good in the ps4 and xbox one versions of the game
I agree with your opinion
I don’t
I don't
I do
I don't not
Same here
I had a similar experience except I made a clear move to not use my flying character, Slimer or anything else that could fly unless I needed to, if a puzzle was too obtuse or I was looking to speedrun to a certain part of a level.
This is my experience with the game so far
-Characters not reading
-The instruction pad for the Simpsons TV wouldn't pop up until the fourth try
-Crashing
same lol (happend once year 2 started) on the xbox 360
You’ve never played a LEGO game before, have you?
How did you get these bugs to occur? I've played a fair but of this game but I've seen hardly any bugs at all. Why is it that the games always work incorrectly for the you tubers!?
My favourite thing to come out of this game was seeing Doc Brown and Doctor Who diss each other's time machines. For those who are curious:
The Doctor entering the DeLorean: "I could save the universe three times over before this 'baby' hits 88 miles per hour. Quickly! Back to the TARDIS!"
Doc Brown entering the TARDIS: "You really should have listened to me when I said 'If you're gonna build a time machine, do it with some style!' "
Boi you’re supposed to use Batman wyldstyle and Gandalf in the story
... I used to practically worship this game.
I was young, okay?
I don't understand the point you made about Eris. You can have two objectives in this game:
1. To have fun and solve the puzzles
2. To finish the game
If you just want to finish the game, then there is no flaw in using Eris, because the whole reason you bought the game is to finish it, right?
I got Superman asap cause I know from the last games he can fly, and not only that, but he's legit invincible.
Lego dimensions isn't bad at all
Just like that pfp you got isn't bad at all.
It has its flaws, quite a few of them, but it’s still a great game.
1. If you want to enjoy the game, don’t use a flying character.
2. Don’t fill up your portal pad thing and instead put the fewest amount of characters on the portal.
Fortnite is CANCER "This game is bad" is not a fact. It's an opinion.
Jimmy Ryker exactly. He's sharing HIS opinion, which is that it isn't bad at all.
Matthew Strampe I was talking to Fortnite is Cancer. He said "yes it is" as if his opinion is fact.
5:41 when I used to play this as a kid it was just cool seeing the worlds that I recognised in lego
I didn't care about farming studs or gold bricks
I just wanted to play as marty mcfly in the tardis flying around springfield
i love LEGO Dimensions & i have the wii u version & yeah it is... buggy, but i do have all the figures (including Green Arrow & Supergirl), with a amazing story, great humor, amazing figures, the fact that we have LEGO Sonic & Portal & the dance party after unlocking all gold bricks from year 1 (also a line made by Lord Vortech is a line i use several times ''i am not even on the chess board, i am the hand that controls every single piece'')
nathan prins This is The Same for me but I have a PS3 except I wish LEGO Dimensions never cancelled
nathan prins wait a minute! Im plaining to get supergirl and green arrow for the xbox one yet im wondering if i can use them for the xbox one
Then as a much older Teen this came out and I was a bit skeptical at first that was until year 2 seeing both my favorite TV Show and Movie both getting sets INSTANTLY made my childhood self cry (Gremlins and Adventure Time) This game is great for what it is but I still wish that it was a standalone game rather than toys to life i'd much rather have Lego Dimensions where any level pack after the base release was DLC
played this when i just became 10. it was frickin awesome
But it also gave us lego Adventure Time and gave new life to Harry Potter
Portal was the best level pack. Enough said.
The Wii U version only is a hot mess! You should have gotten the next gen versions of the game instead of the Wii U version!
3:18
Fuck that. We had Lego Universe at one point where you could build anything, and it was free, even before it had to be shut down. This is just wrong
Travilers Tales best game is most definitely is LEGO city undercover
The Reviewing Force well the best tt games game in my opinion has to go to this game lego dimensions
**cough** bionicle heroes **cough**
The Reviewing Force Lego Batman 2?
Personally I say Lego star wars 3 or Lego Marvel Superheroes
CeeJay Guervil How did I forgot about Lego Star Wars 3? It's the best Lego game I played by far and it has some of the best unlockable characters.
0:10 He sounds like Joker
You sound like arlo
the game is so fun and creative every aspect of it is really fun, sure you have to pay for characters but so what its really fun
I bought the game last Ocober, and bought pretty much 70% of the packs. I thoroughly enjoy it due to the fan service it provides. I plan my channel to include a lot of videos about it. Even though this video addresses the issues, I am just SO Glad people are still talking about this game!
Nicolas Charron The problem is that it's nothing BUT fan service. It's just an EA-esque attempt to grab nerds' money.
The Doctor Who level pack and world is amazing.
I just hope the rumored and announced but not released sets get to come out, some time in the future. There was some good stuff in there.
The Fantastic Paul What sets were rumored/announced?
What announced but not released sets? Everything they had announced before getting cancelled was released.
Edward West-Summers a.k.a. CrimsonWitch26 there were a couple of rumored sets for a possible third year.
Minecraft, new Doctor Who content, Cw Flash and a final one featuring Vortech.
@@masterdhegamer6661 i only heard about vortech and i doubt they would have done minecraft for it
'I was I intial able to pick up the Wii U' Oh No.
I actually want this game ported to the Switch.
Cant wait to carry my already cumbersome switch around with the lego portal thingy and 6 minifigures!
@Dragonfruits the Dragon
...or the upcoming Nintendo Switch Pro (or whatever it is called there)!
It’s price is $100 but to actually complete the game you’ll have to pay $700
Flying characters in LEGO games were a thing since LEGO Batman 2 i think well i'm pretty damn sure. LEGO Batman 2 came out in 2012 and LEGO dimensions came out in 2015 and In Lego Batman 2 and 3 I'm pretty sure you could Cheat with Superman and over characters Even in Lego Marvel and Lego Avengers you could cheat I cheated with Iron Man and Thor and Spider man to get over areas
those gliches probably just happend in the wii version cus i played the whole game in the Xbox 360 with no essues
Literally only want this for Lego Sonic
True
LEGO Sonic is arguably one of the worst parts of the game. Have fun trying to do the races
Andrew Blain With Pleasure, Fuckface!
Eggmana Banana
ok
I actually love this game (just my opinion)
On the subject of character ability tranparency; The collection screen in game that shows off all toys lists all their abilities on their individual pages. It's why i bought only the characters i needed for 100% completion.
Sadly i was never able to play the Year 2 content since i couldn't download the update due to my crappy internet. :/
What’s sad is that I played it on the Wii U version without Knowing it was broken
*And Playing As Sonic was FUN*
Radic The Hedgehog sonic is even broken on ps4
He must be broken on wii u
Bup Boi *UNPARALLELED SPEEDS!!!*
on a side note, does anyone remember how much fucking HYPE was surrounding the Portal 2 level and character pack was?
I still highly enjoy this game but I would be lying if I say I could not agree with some of your complains, specially how flying breaks the game (luckely I got me my marceline much much later, so I had to play the normal way XD).
Still I would say it's a decent and fun game. The toys are great, and the story is still pretty epic and a lot of fun. Even some of the level packs like "Portal2", "The lego batman movie" and "ghostbsuters" I highly enjoy.
For the hubworlds... yeah they don't offer that much except some nice references here and there, but they are still fun to go through if you are feeling bored. ;P
Only thing I certainly would have wished for was a lego racers addition, where you can drive in many different races and against your friends and/or Computer. This way the vehicles would have much more use. Of course the races have to be also for walking vehicles. Like Marcelines Boom-box-spider. It has such a cool design, but I never ever found a reason to actually use the damn thing in the game
I bought the Wii U version. When I finished building the batmobile and placed on the portal, the game wouldn't respond...
$100 well spent!
Lego dimensions was and is awesome, it never crashed for me and I’m using a fricken xbox 360
Joseph Cota which xbox 360 were you using, because if it wasn’t the e or the s then what you had to do was understandable
Zachary Brafman original hdmi.
Zachary Brafman it wasn't the E or the S. The one I got was jet black and came with a Kinect and Disneyland adventures.
My problem with lego dimensions is how expensive EVERYTHING is!
I have the Wii U game but I don't have trouble with it... Maybe the glitches are only in the NTSC version... I dunno.
Also, the fact there's a BTTF world and a Gremlins world even though they use the same set... Literally, the worlds are almost
the same but the Gremlins world had the Cinema, that's all!
It’s because you’re playing on the Wii it’s not normally like that
You have to buy eris from a special pack, plus if you fly you can't 100% percent the game and unlock the cheat codes for various things.
The elris problem is a normal lego problem
Ok, you complaining about being able to Fly,
The catchphrase of the game is *Break the Rules!*
-
Next up, you got the Wii U version, no wonder you hate it so much, I’m a Nintendo gamer myself, but I played the game on PS4 (my secondary system), just because it is a bit more powerful to support all the data
The adventure worlds, they are meant to be for solving puzzles, not for the sake of upgrading veichles with gold bricks,
The main point was just to mash up franchises,
Have Sonic driving the Jakemobile through the world of teen titans GO, and so forth,
It wasn’t about getting figures just for their abilitys, their was a completionist aspect to them too, I would suggest Blitzwinger’s videos if you really wanted to get an idea,
In terms of Eris, you talk about her as the only flying character, let alone don’t even talk about the flying vehicles, which if your gonna judge the ability to fly through levels, at least mention that eris isn’t the only one who can fly,
You missed a lot of things in this video, so just, whatever
You think Eris is broken? Superman/ Supergirl (if you can find her). Elemental puzzles? No problem as they have frost breath and heat beams, they can fly, they're invincible, and Supergirl can even become a Red Lantern and do Lantern construct puzzles. She even doesn't have the Superman them playing when she flies. There is no reason to play anyone else unless they're needed for a puzzle.
Well, for a while, Supergirl was needed for Lantern Constructs
9:09 diD YOU JUST SUPERMAN 64 AT ME
You're the only one complaining about moving the figures from place to place on the toy pad
Actually, I thought it sucked too.
Yep. That was a good feature.
I LOVED Lego Dimensions. Getting my favorite characters together and playing through the game was really entertaining to me
9:09 I see what you did there.
Should I buy it for $15? On ps4
The Wii U version is not the best version but I respect your opinion and I really like the game
I have a question though... Why are you even using Eris for stuff she isn't even needed for?
Energy The Fox Productions
She can fly :p
If she isn't needed, then you shouldn't be given the option to play as her.
Energy The Fox Productions 107 subs with no content? D:
What I'm saying is... Why are you reviewing the main story with a character that isn't meant for the main story
Energy The Fox Productions Because TT gave us the option to and so we took it? If she isn't meant for the main story, she shouldn't be available to play. Lego Dimensions gives us the option to play as characters that can easily be used to cheat the game, which is a huge oversight on the developers part.
This story is 100% true
I played the DR.Who level with the base set and i was at the Cemetery bit and Batman was registered inside the Batmobile but he was miles off the car and glitched right through the gate and skipped the entire part
No there where two ghostbusters packs well four the first was from ghostbusters who your gonna call and the last 3 are from the original movie
*whistles*
i only got this game for the ninjago stuff. was still a pretty solid game though, would have loved it more if nickelodeon had kept their contract with lego for this game for the tmnt characters. :/
How to enjoy Lego Dimensions:
Don't buy the Wii U versión
Don't buy flying characters
Have fun playing coop with your kids
Eris isn’t the only flying character though
I think he uses her as an example because she was the very first one
There is Superman, Wonder Woman, The Wicked Witch, Supergirl, Harry Potter, and other kinds of characters for him to choose from.
hmmm... now where you mention it, the first series did have a lot of flying characters
Sean Wheeler Not to mention Marceline, Raven, Starfire, Beast Boy, Supergirl, Voldemort, Blossom, Bubbles, Buttercup, etc.
Andrew Dutton I already said Supergirl.
Sonic can outrun some level loading if you allow him to reach full speed
