Firstly this a 68 1/2 Mustang with the GT option known to collectors as a “CJ”, an extremely rare car and the fastest Mustang in the quarter mile Ford ever offered for sale to the general public. It’s called a CJ since it’s the first Mustang R Code which means it is equipped with the legendary 428 Cobra Jet engine. It’s not “kinda like a race car” it’s a street legal dragster which took the racing world by storm by winning drag race after drag race on the circuit. Since many raced their CJ’s many succumbed to blown engines on the strip while only approximately 1100 Fastbacks were manufactured. IMHO the blue interior and C-Stripe detracts from the ideal presence of this magnificently designed vehicle. Ideally the interior and C-Stripe should be black to match the matte black hood adorned racing stripe and functional hood scoop. The reflective C-Stripe is not stock. A proper CJ has a solid black C-Stripe enhancing the menacing stance of this highly desirable Mustang.

Hi Lou, new subscriber here! Great video! I have a few things to say about the car. I owned a 68 Mustang when I was in high school, and that was a long time ago as I graduated in 1972, so I'm an older guy. My parents bought their 68 Mustang brand new from a Ford dealer in Garden Grove, California, and I was with them when they bought it. When it got to where I was driving in my sophomore year, the car was mine, and I kept it until I eventually sold it many many years later. As it is, I know quite a bit about the 67-68 Mustangs and what they should be as far as factory equipment as I have done years of research on them. The car in the video is beautiful, no doubt about that, I'd love to have it. BUT, at the risk of becoming the elephant in the room, I have to say this: the door panels are missing the armrests on both door panels. Mustangs came from the factory with armrests attached to the door panels, so those door panels are not original Ford NOS door panels. The windshield wiper switch which is located up where the left turn signal is, is missing a chrome metal piece that is supposed to be attached to the lever, and it is a two speed wiper. There is a foot pedal above the floor mounted high beam dimmer switch that is part of the wiper system. One push on the pedal activated the wipers for one wipe, and the pedal pumped washer fluid onto the windshield, manually, not electrically, so every press on the pedal was one spray of fluid. That pedal is missing a rubber pad that pushes on to the bottom of the pedal. The tach isn't working because of one or two reasons, the wire coming from the gauge cluster has not been attached to the coil, or the tach is completely fubar. Yes, that poor engine is overheating badly, The 428 engines should never be allowed to get that hot. Head warpage and blown head gaskets can result. For a car of that age, and after sitting that long, the cooling system should have been pressure back flushed (water and compressed air blown intermittenly) backwards through the cooling system to remove all the crud that built up over the years, You wouldn't believe how much crap comes out. The radiator needs to be replaced also. And just for fun, there are two versions of the 68 mustang. The first is one like I had and like the one in the video. You can tell by the rear side marker reflectors, they are added to the rear quarter panel with a chrome surround. (Ford used 67 quarter panels.) 68 1/2 models had the side marker reflectors flush with the quarter panels. just a bit of trivia. if any of you are in doubt about this, feel free to check it out.
Sorry for the long reply, but I just had to mention all this.
    Best wishes to all.

Finally someone that knows how to "Rev" a car , I know that sounds silly but there is a way to go about it that just seems to have been lost . I fear tho that the car is just too much trouble for Mel , those race horses can be a difficult breed and therefore he should probably just send that over here so I can put it in with others of its kind. :)

Wife and I were gone so long the Salesman was waiting at the CLOSED Dealership when we returned screaming and yelling at me for being gone so long! We actually went out Drag Racing with it, FAST Car, ended up buying a 65 Corvette, Blue with White interior, very low milage! Great Car!!! Mustang has always had great looking/Running cars!
