How can an Australian female country musician, have the audacity and bare faced cheek,to take one of the greatest songs ever written and change its tempo, cadences and it's emotional impact, and then to add insult to injury, make this great song even better,I guess some of you may have been wondering where I was going with that?,Kasey Chambers, thankyou ,for the best cover of any song ever!
So we’ll said. 👊 Do you Mind if I copy this onto some other reactors sites? The highlight of my day is coming on UA-cam and watching someone new reacting to this masterpiece. I have been recommending this since I found it (only 2 weeks ago) and it’s a travesty that it hasn’t gone viral.
Kasey is a 47 yr old Mum, who grew up in my home State of South Australia. She played with her family band (her Dad plays slide guitar on this) and at one point they lived in a bus in a semi arid area called the Nullabour Plain, catching rabbits for dinner.. They put this video together with all the video taken by the people in the audience.. Goosebumps is called "Frisson" and not everyone gets it from music etc.
🇦🇺🦘🦘🦘A direct quote "I've been mostly influenced in my life by artists who bravely put fearless emotion into lyrics and no one does that better than Eminem" - Kasey Chambers (Rolling Stones Magazine 29/07/2022)
So ecstatic that UA-cam reactors have responded so positively to Kasey’s version of this song! Hopefully it will gain her worldwide recognition. Girl deserves it after so many years. ❤ 30+ years in the industry, both as a youngster with the family band and as a solo artist.
It is her brother who comes in on the second verse, with the guitar and harmonies. Her Dad is the one on the slide guitar, once the whole band comes in. Kasey Chambers is an Australian country singer, songwriter who likes to venture into other genres occasionally. She is also an Eminem fan and wanted to cover this song for years but wasn't sure how to do the lyrics justice. The Pandemic gave her that chance. Unable to tour, she spent the time (with her band) working on this arrangement and perfecting it. As someone else mentioned, she did not have this video this show, so the day after the concert she asked members of the audience, who filmed the song on their phones, to send in any footage they had. The final cut is the montage of the numerous videos' received from her request.
Love Love Love Your reaction to this. Especially your actually SEEING her drained at the end! Many reactors simply miss the impact this performance has on Kasey herself!!
And a very large number of reactors don't both to watch the whole time, being busy drinking (what is that all about? - very irritating) and poncing around looking at theselves. Not all, but a hell of a lot. Really appreciate your approach. Another good song that I can't see anyone has mentioned is "Not Pretty Enough" Cheers from Dayboro, Queensland, Australia!
We all watch covers of favourite songs.....but after one or two they get old! Love M&M's early stuff too. But I've watched this over and over, not likely to tire of it.❤
Kasey Chambers hasn't had an easy journey as an artist. She is a very talented artist & she sure did an incredible cover of this song. We all need to get behind this iconic, Aussie artist. Thank you for doing this reaction.
She stood up infront of a live audience and took on the best rap song of all time, with nothing initially but her own voice and a fkn banjo, and smashed into oblivion. Imagine the balls that takes.
What a great rr reaction. Kasey is an icon here in Australia. She has been singing country music for ages. She is the youngest person to receive an ARIA hall of fame award. She went on Facebook to have fans send in their cell phone videos for the visuals for the video. She grew up playing in her family ‘s band and has had her own for 25 years.
Kasey is a well known Australian Country artist. Started at 9 in her family's band (Dead Ringer Band) then branched out to her solo career. her dad is playing the slide Guitar on the left. The audience was left speechless at the raw emotion she piled into this song.

In a Rolling Stones Magazine interview, Kasey said that she's always loved Eminem and listens to him a lot in her house. She added that she's wanted to do a cover for a very long time but never had the time to dedicate to it - However Covid Lockdown gave her plenty of time to learn all the lyrics and write a melody. Yes, people will definitely still be in awe of it! Taylor Swift did a cover?! I personally can't really stand her. 😆 G'day from a Canadian living in Texas!👋

Great reaction! I too had a tear in my eye more than once during my first viewing of this performance. I’m not entirely sure whether it was because of the different emotion that Kasey brought to the song or because I was so damn inspired by her for doing such a great job and laying it all out there.

@@MrsRealistic I think she knows she kicked arse in that performance but most of the greatest artist's are their own worst critic so it would be interesting to hear her thoughts on her performance.
Girl! I get teary every time I watch this. When she says "the mood all changed" the mood all changed. When she gets angry my tears start flowing. She is awesome.
When I first came across her version here, I didn't know what I was listening to... it took a while for it to click Mindblowing soulful song presentation there.
She is an absolute gem. 'Ain't no Little Girl' - live At The Bluegrass Underground is another great one or alternatively The Luck sessions Version Always check out her live stuff just the passion is palpable.
Mrs msr... Sorry for my bluntiness... i´ve met trough ren... i´m glad you´ve reacted to this outstanding performance... so many layers ( emotions)added to those lyrics that could stand alone without any music... great rendition that praised the genius writing of one of the greatest of our time... love from portugal... take care...
She is a folk / country veering to rock artist. She is Australian- much lauded there. She had trouble getting airtime early in her career. IShe had been wanting to cover this for years- the lockdown gave her time to create this arrangement.
I was at Kasey's first show on this tour, a few weeks before this performance. It was the first night she played this amazing rendition of this song. and it was not played at the end of the show or for shock value.
Thanks for doing this one! This gives me chills every single time I hear it. Kasey going from that resigned, laid back approach early in the song to the fighting emotion later is beyond powerful! 💪🏼 Kasey is very under appreciated and needs to be recognised more on an international scale! Kasey is a master of storytelling, conveying lyrics and emotion! She is an icon in the Australian music industry, mostly for country and folk, but has her own style and is never afraid to delve into something outside the box. She is just getting better as she gets older. I really hope that Eminem has seen this and appreciates that his song and lyrics were re-imagined in such a spectacular way. I guess he has, as he did give her permission to upload to Spotify etc. Would really like to hear what he thought about it though. Where else would you see head-banging with a banjo, steel guitar and rock band together? Kasey started her solo commercial career around the same time as Eminem and she was a big fan of his music. From what I understand, Kasey spent lockdown playing around with some of her favourite songs and this version of Lose Yourself is the result. Brilliant! Kasey has spent her whole solo career bucking the constraints of the record companies and always gone her way. She made it to the top in Aussie music anyway with many awards, becoming the youngest ever ARIA Hall of Fame recipient. BTW….how was that for breath and vocal control? Not to mention the awesome arrangement. ❤ Also, that was Kasey’s Dad, Bill, on the steel guitar and her brother Nash on lead guitar and backing vocal. Full kudos to Eminem for his songwriting. Personally, the reason Kasey’s version affects me so much is all down to the fact that she did lose herself in the music, the moment during this performance. Kasey kept the cadence but slowed it down, even in the full rock part. She is a true blue Aussie who will leave her soul bared on stage every single time. ❤ The video was a montage from the audiences phone vids… deliberately done to make it a more intimate experience.
I’m glad you liked Casey. She is 47. The guy on guitar and doing backup is her older brother Nash and the man sitting down to her right playing steel guitar is her Dad. She is known as a country singer. This is her band. She worked on this cover during lockdown in 2020. This is a great cover. I think the video was filmed by members of the audience.
I read somebody else comment that Eminem approved this song to be published on Spotify. I was so glad to hear he came across this. I know people tweeted at him, so perhaps through there. Either way, absolute gold. Loved this, thank you for watching this with us!
Kasey Chambers is an Australian legend: the youngest person to be inducted into the Australian Music Hall of Fame, a dozen albums and has more than 30 ARIA Awards (the AU Grammy's). She is beloved but is ignored by radio and was shunned by Sony. She's been performing in her father's band since she was 12 years old (her brother is backing vocals and her dad is on the steel guitar on stage here). She had some pop hits in the 90s but her heart and soul is Country in her own style. She wanted to commemorate the 20th anniversary of this song because she loves Eminem, and she had the time to rearrange and compose this masterpiece during lockdown. She is showing so much emotion because she has lived this to a degree as well. She is now 48 years old and a mother of three. This recording is the first time it was ever performed live and was done at the end of the concert. They thought it went well, so they used the recording from the sound desk and asked their fans who were in attendance to provide any footage they had to composite this one together. While there has been no public approval from Em, she has been allowed to put this song up on Spotify without challenge.
@@MrsRealistic hahahaha. You made me stop and think where I got the term from and then I remembered… they were a highly successful male stripper team. They even toured the USA. They didn’t go full Monty. They were more about fit bodies and dancing.
The man on Slide Guitar is her Pa and the guy who did guitar a and solo vocals is her older brother.. Think this was the last time she played live with her father ❤
I've heard that Eminem gave her permission to release this on Spotify, so he must have heard it. My guess is that she wouldn't have been able to do that without his permission. "Ain't no Little Girl", live or recorded, both great.
Hi there , Thanks for a great reaction to Kasey . She absolutely knocks this song out of the park 😊. If u wanna drop into the Aussie rabbit hole try John Farnham -Help with Melbourne symphony orchestra. This is a Beatles cover that he makes his own . Every Aussie luvs Farnsey 😮
Check out her vocal techniques here! Soft voice, head voice, chest voice, Irish keening, yodeling and growling! That in one person is freeking amazing!
The fact that was not recorded from her team is wild… all of the video footage has been produced by fans etc… he has seen this and further gave her Spotify privileges to ensure she gets her just deserves…. Also she is magnificent in her own right
I would recommend watching her hit single from the 3rd album, titled "Not Pretty Enough"; this song is a commentary on the reluctance of commercial radio stations towards playing her music, even though she has had successful hits and albums.
She’s 46 here and she’s an Aussie veteran has had dificult professional start and a difficult divorce & is now a single mother so she can relate to this song a lot. This was an encore for her regular country show. They only realised on playback of the recording how phenomenal it was so she put out a call out to the crowd for crowd footage which is why it’s not great visuals it’s all phone footage. It’s also available on Spotify now so someone on Eminem’s team has seen it because she had to get the rights to put it on Spotify
Kasey makes no apologies for the fact that she refuses to be 'pegged' to other peoples idea of what she should be. Yes, Kasey threw her heart and soul into this performance; to the extent of being emotional exhausted, as in a way reflects her struggles to be accepted.
For something a little more in her usual genre/style check out *Am I not Pretty Enough* A song, written by KC, from the perspective of a struggling performer who is trying to their music played on the main stream radio (But in Australia, NONE of the Major Cities radio stations play country music & KC had been pigeonholed as "Country" even if she were to sing local popular songs they would not play her. A fate shared by many of Australia's country music artists.) ua-cam.com/video/v5rOdF9rUKI/v-deo.html
Kasey Chambers fans always go to her shows expecting the unexpected. And every time she delivers, we are just blown away. By the way, the reason for the poor quality video is because there was no video coverage of this concert. So she asked that if anyone had any phone footage of this, could they send it to her, and she cobbled together this video from that.
Awesome you covered this.!!! Nails it! You might be interested in Jake Kohn, Frostbite. The version where he is standing in the woods. The sound is really good on that version. He is 15 and sings like he's a heartbroken 40 yr old chainsmoker. Amazing! (Unless of course you've already covered him). He's as impressive as this kasey cover..... Glad to see you back after so long. You must have a life., Lol
He's got several self written songs. He's going to be a big star. Has a half million hits in the song I suggested. Being so new higher numbers come a little slower at first. Should be in the millions very soon. I haven't seen a single reactor get past the first verse without pausing and staring at the camera. Fun to watch.... Tks.
Thank you. As a Kasey fan it's always nice to see someone appreciate her. For some idea of her own songwriting I'd suggest "Ain't No Little Girl". There are a few good versions on UA-cam but I"d recommend the "Bluegrass Underground Season VII" or the 2018 .Aria Awards. There's also a great version at Cayamo, 2019, with Brandon Dodd and Amanda Shires playing. Emmy Lou Harris gives Kasey a big hug at the end. Unfortunately. the recording isn't the best: it makes he voice sound really harsh.
Apparently at this concert - it was not filmed - but the management realised this was too good not to be put out there so they sent out a call for anyone in the crowd for phone coverage and then put it together with different parts of different video
Fantastic. I think I saw and heard some slide guitar as well. I've never heard this artist either. I'd love to to know what Eminem thinks of this. I bet if he's aware of it (which I'm sure he is) that he thinks it's fantastic as well. Thank you for another enjoyable reaction.
@MrsRealistic This was incredible. I'm learning of new artists from video reactions as well, which up until a few months ago, I didn't even know video reactions existed. They just started showing up on my wall one day. Ren captivates me the most so far, but this performance was stellar. She was brilliant. I think one of the many reasons Ren and the other artists we're discovering and are captivated by is because we live in a world where everything is digital or computer generated. Suddenly, we have real people making great music with wonderful messages again. We were starved for the human element in music that's been missing for decades now. For me, at least, I forgot how much I missed that human touch in the music. There is no need to respond. You were generous with your time before. I'm just blabbing for whoever cares to read it.

@@MrsRealistic I think she knows she kicked arse in that performance but most of the greatest artist's are their own worst critic so it would be interesting to hear her thoughts on her performance.
@@scottwatson9453 Good point! I think we're ALL our worst critics. I don't like much of what I do lol!
@@MrsRealistic Well that's a good sign that you are a Great artist.☺️
@@scottwatson9453 Nah, but I have 2 daughters who are AMAZING artists. That's good enough for me!
Girl! I get teary every time I watch this. When she says "the mood all changed" the mood all changed. When she gets angry my tears start flowing. She is awesome.
Yeah I certainly didn't expect to get choked up listening to an eminem song! 🤣
🔥she was fantastic 😊
Amen!
Watch her performance of Ain’t No Little Girl from the ARIA awards ❤ great reaction
It's on the list! 😁👍
When I first came across her version here, I didn't know what I was listening to... it took a while for it to click Mindblowing soulful song presentation there.
It sure is!
Also dad on the slide guitar nail it
He sure did!!
She is an absolute gem.
'Ain't no Little Girl' - live At The Bluegrass Underground is another great one or alternatively The Luck sessions Version
Always check out her live stuff just the passion is palpable.
Thank you for the suggestions! I look forward to hearing more from her!
@@MrsRealisticits awesome and she commits fully and gets totally committed! At the end she is transported and comes back with a jolt!!!
@@stevetreloar3129 We're lucky to witness it!
Best cover I've ever seen and I'm nearly 60!
I'd have to agree with you on that one!! 👍😊
Thank you so much! God bless!
🥂 for the algorithm.
As always, much ❤ from 🇨🇦
I absolutely LOVE your reaction. Kasey is a true blue legend here.
Yes, this is pretty epic!
She is a folk / country veering to rock artist. She is Australian- much lauded there.
She had trouble getting airtime early in her career. IShe had been wanting to cover this for years- the lockdown gave her time to create this arrangement.
I KNEW IT!! 😆👍
I was at Kasey's first show on this tour, a few weeks before this performance. It was the first night she played this amazing rendition of this song. and it was not played at the end of the show or for shock value.
@@bundy10409 Thank you for that info! I love hearing the back stories!
@stanroach2842 thanks for the info.
She's an amazing artist to be able to make this cover rock as much as the original... or dare I even say, maybe harder! 🙌
Kids what do they know. Your Cool 😎. Great reaction. Peace ✌️
You're right... kids don't know much 😆 I think my kids know we're cooler than a lot of parents. 😉👍
Amazing rendition. Thank you 🔥
Thanks for listening!
what a great reaction 😊
Thank you!! 😁
It's nice to hear music by someone my age (I just turned 48)!
Great reaction!
Thank you!! 😁
Sometimes you just need to stop and listen, experience and enjoy without judgement
I think we all got emotional hearing her sing this song. She's AMAZING.
Yes she is!
Oh yeah
I read somebody else comment that Eminem approved this song to be published on Spotify. I was so glad to hear he came across this. I know people tweeted at him, so perhaps through there. Either way, absolute gold. Loved this, thank you for watching this with us!
Yes, it's awesome he did that! And thank you for joining me!!
Thunder from down under. 😍🇦🇺
I think of something else when you say that 😆
@@MrsRealistic hahahaha. You made me stop and think where I got the term from and then I remembered… they were a highly successful male stripper team. They even toured the USA. They didn’t go full Monty. They were more about fit bodies and dancing.
@@Laraine3 Yup! 😄 Super hot, fit guys!
good comment good reaction very generous from an aussie
Why thank you sir! 😊
The man on Slide Guitar is her Pa and the guy who did guitar a
and solo vocals is her older brother..
Think this was the last time she played live with her father ❤
How awesome to play with your family!
💜
Interesting fact the slide guitar player is Casey's father. She grew up playing in her fathers band.
Oh how cool! Thanks for that info! Both my parents play guitar, but never taught me.
I've heard that Eminem gave her permission to release this on Spotify, so he must have heard it. My guess is that she wouldn't have been able to do that without his permission. "Ain't no Little Girl", live or recorded, both great.
That's awesome! Good for him! I've gotten a few other requests for Ain't no little girl, so I'll have to look it up! Thanks!
@@MrsRealistic I recommend this one (Ain't No Little Girl) ua-cam.com/video/CK4hFr_3rVw/v-deo.html
You are way cooler than your kids. As they say, youth is wasted on the young. 🤗
😆 Well, I was cool once upon a time. I hope my kids still think I am. I try 😉
I love the Beatles! Thanks for the suggestion!

Thank you! 😊🙏
Check out her vocal techniques here! Soft voice, head voice, chest voice, Irish keening, yodeling and growling! That in one person is freeking amazing!
I just ADORED it!
The fact that was not recorded from her team is wild… all of the video footage has been produced by fans etc… he has seen this and further gave her Spotify privileges to ensure she gets her just deserves…. Also she is magnificent in her own right
It's really cool how they got everything together like that! I think it's also great that Eminem did that for her!
The video was taken by audience members - they were asked to send in any phone videos taken at the concert and that's what been used as the video
That's super unique! What a great idea!
Yeah, wow. Hadn’t heard this yet. Glad I decided to click and not scroll by your reaction video. That was insane.
Well thanks for joining me! 😁👍
His new stuff is a mature Marshall. ❤
Beautiful reaction.
Thank you!
Go Aussie!!
Any Aussie Musos ROCK your frickin socks off😁❤️🇦🇺👍🏼
I would recommend watching her hit single from the 3rd album, titled "Not Pretty Enough"; this song is a commentary on the reluctance of commercial radio stations towards playing her music, even though she has had successful hits and albums.
Thanks for that suggestion! 😊
Em gave his permission . He ADMIRED HOW SHE RE-DID THIS GREAT SONG .CHASEY DID THIS THING!!!!!
That's so awesome! She deserves it!
Kasey is 47 and a rocks it better than a teenager😂
No doubt!😁🤙
She’s 46 here and she’s an Aussie veteran has had dificult professional start and a difficult divorce & is now a single mother so she can relate to this song a lot. This was an encore for her regular country show. They only realised on playback of the recording how phenomenal it was so she put out a call out to the crowd for crowd footage which is why it’s not great visuals it’s all phone footage. It’s also available on Spotify now so someone on Eminem’s team has seen it because she had to get the rights to put it on Spotify
I had heard that... it's so cool that everyone put their own cell phone footage in! She's got an amazing energy!
Em gave her his permission because the way she put it together. Em ADMIRED THE SET UP from her
Kasey makes no apologies for the fact that she refuses to be 'pegged' to other peoples idea of what she should be. Yes, Kasey threw her heart and soul into this performance; to the extent of being emotional exhausted, as in a way reflects her struggles to be accepted.
Great reaction. Subscribed. 😊
Awesome thank you! 😊🙏
For something a little more in her usual genre/style check out *Am I not Pretty Enough*
A song, written by KC, from the perspective of a struggling performer who is trying to their music played on the main stream radio
(But in Australia, NONE of the Major Cities radio stations play country music & KC had been pigeonholed as "Country" even if she were to sing local popular songs they would not play her. A fate shared by many of Australia's country music artists.)

Thanks! I've gotten a few requests for this one! I'll have to check it out!
I'm so glad they were able to do that! Without it, we wouldn't have this amazing proof of how bad ass this cover was!
It's not often you see an Australian banjo playing country singer steal Eminem's song from him! That song belongs to Kasey now! SorryEm!
It's truly amazing!
Haha! Yes, life happens when you're a stay at home mum to 3 kids 😆 Thanks for the suggestion as well. I haven't heard of Jake Kohn!
Tks.
The video is a compilation of cell phone footage from the audience that she requested and edited
Thank you! I've had quite a few requests for this, so that will be my next reaction I do of her's!
Kasey Mathers
Haha! Perfect!
Best sing this version to your kids now. Embarrass them again or maybe they will join in.
My kids usually laugh... but hopefully just because they think I'm funny...😉😆
Now you got a version you can sing along to.
Amen to that!!
Apparently at this concert - it was not filmed - but the management realised this was too good not to be put out there so they sent out a call for anyone in the crowd for phone coverage and then put it together with different parts of different video
That was so brilliant, and I'm glad they did. This is too epic to be not seen by the world!
Fantastic. I think I saw and heard some slide guitar as well. I've never heard this artist either. I'd love to to know what Eminem thinks of this. I bet if he's aware of it (which I'm sure he is) that he thinks it's fantastic as well. Thank you for another enjoyable reaction.
I bet he does! Any artist should be able to appreciate another's amazing work like this!
